Trump Reverses Himself, Joins Obama and Biden in Demanding “Clean” Renewal of NSA Domestic Spying Powers

In August 2013 — in the wake of our Snowden reporting, which revealed the NSA’s mass warrantless domestic spying on Americans — an extraordinary bipartisan bill emerged. Jointly sponsored by one of the most liberal House members (Michigan Democrat John Conyers) and one of his most libertarian-conservative counterparts (Michigan Republican Justin Amash), the bill would have reined in the NSA’s domestic spying powers by imposing serious limits on how such powers can be exercised when aimed at American citizens.

When the Conyers-Amash bill was first introduced, “Official Washington” did not take it seriously. But the Snowden revelations were causing serious public anger about NSA spying, and many members of Congress shared that anger because they were not told that the NSA had implemented a system of mass warrantless surveillance aimed, in part, at Americans. As a result, support for the bill quickly picked up bipartisan steam, seemingly heading toward certain passage — until Barack Obama called Nancy Pelosi.

Despite running for President as a constitutional law professor who vowed to end the civil liberties abuses of the War on Terror, Obama had become an enthusiastic supporter — and user — of the NSA’s domestic spying system. He thus instructed then-Speaker Nancy Pelosi to whip enough Democratic House votes to kill the bill. She did as she was told, and the bill — which initially appeared on its way to approval — was defeated 205-217 (94 Republicans and 111 Democrats voted for the reform bill; 134 Republicans and 83 Democrats voted against it). Official Washington heralded Pelosi as the heroine who saved NSA warrantless spying on Americans.

It is hard to overstate how significant the passage of this bill would have been. It would have been the first time in two decades that the U.S. Congress limited rather than increased the domestic powers of the U.S. security state. The era of the Patriot Act would finally have been confronted, or at least diluted. But Obama and Pelosi joined hands with the likes of GOP pro-spying members such as Peter King, Michelle Bachmann, and Kristi Noem to block any limits on the NSA’s power to spy on Americans without warrants.

Now, Donald Trump is on the verge of doing what Obama and Pelosi did back then. Despite running in 2024 by vowing to “KILL FISA,” based on his (quite valid) claim that spying powers had been abused against him for political ends in the 2016 presidential campaign, Trump on Monday demanded that FISA be fully renewed: yet again, with no reforms, safeguards, or limits of any kind.

Congress this week, perhaps as early as Wednesday, will vote on a renewal of Section 702 of FISA, which grants the NSA the power to spy on certain communications of American citizens without a warrant. Although it appeared that there was bipartisan support for finally imposing some limits and safeguards in the wake of years of documented abuses, Trump’s demand on Tuesday — that all House Republicans unite to renew the spying powers with no limits — raises serious doubts about whether any reform is now possible.

WHAT CHANGED? Hollywood Elitists Who Donated Tons of Cash to Eric Swalwell’s Governor Campaign Suddenly Silent

The donor list for Eric Swalwell’s now dead campaign for governor of California is a virtual who’s who of liberal Hollywood.

Robert De Niro, Sean Penn, Jon Cryer, Kathy Griffin and many others poured tons of cash into Swalwell’s coffers and yet now that his campaign and career have imploded under a shocking scandal, they are all silent.

Let the record show that these people apparently do not care about victims of rape and sexual assault. What other conclusion could one possibly reach?

Breitbart News reports:

Hollywood Elites Who Backed Disgraced Eric Swalwell Go Silent After His Resignation from Congress

With the now thoroughly disgraced former Congressman and California candidate Gov. Eric Swalwell resigning his seat in Congress and suspending his gubernatorial campaign, the left-wing Hollywood celebrities who were so loudly backing him have all of a sudden gone quiet.

A-listers like Sean Penn, Robert De Niro, and Jane Fonda have all gone radio silent in the wake of Swalwell’s crash and burn ending and many of his elite donors have decided not to say a word about their man’s fall from grace, the New York Post noted.

The paper points out that Sean Penn donated $15,000 to Swalwell and on several occasions met up with the California Democrat to show his support. Several others, such as Mad Men star Jon Hamm, rabid anti-Trumper Robert Di Nero, and Jon Cryer each donated $10,000 and often spoke up for Swalwell on social media and in interviews…

Disgraced comedienne Kathy Griffin also gave ten grand, as did TV producers David Bennet and Shawn Ryan, who both ponied up $10K. Before his shocking murder, film director Rob Reiner also gave the same amount to Swalwell. And Creative Artists Agency CEO Bryan Lourd topped them all by shelling out a $12,500 contribution.

The anti-Trump group ‘The Lincoln Project’ also contributed.

SHAMELESS: CNN’s Brian Stelter Credits Journalists With Ending Eric Swalwell’s Bid for California Governor

Like many people in media, Brian Stelter has an inflated sense of the worth of mainstream journalists. We are used to this fact about him, but sometimes, even we are surprised by the lengths he will go to heap praise on his broken industry.

Today on the air, Stelter gave journalists the credit for ending Eric Swlawell’s bid for governor of California.

This is amazing when you consider the fact that people are coming out of the woodwork now, claiming that Swalwell’s behavior has been an open secret among Democrats and the media for years.

And by the way, don’t his victims who have come forward deserve more credit than the media?

The Blaze reported on this:

CNN’s chief media analyst is applauding the mainstream media for exposing sexual misconduct allegations against the top Democratic candidate for California governor, including an alleged rape, and now faces the wrath of online critics.

California Rep. Eric Swalwell had a tenuous lead above the other Democrats, but he has suspended his campaign in the wake of allegations of sexual assault from a former staffer and accusations from others about sexual misconduct. He has denied the claims.

On Monday, Brian Stelter of CNN said the report was a victory for journalism while ignoring that many had looked the other way for a decade about rumors of the allegations.

Stelter said it was a “testament to the power of investigative reporting” and credited CNN and the Chronicle for ending Swalwell’s gubernatorial hopes.

Trump Administration Wants to Make It More Difficult to Evade a Military Draft

The Selective Service System, the government agency that keeps a list of draft-eligible American men, will begin automatically registering names later this year, abandoning a decades-old process in which young men self-registered.

“This has been in the works for quite a while,” a U.S. government official told The Intercept, noting that the Selective Service System — which is separate from the Defense Department — had been pressing Congress to revamp the registration process. The official referenced “sliding numbers” of men registering on their own and the potential of war with a near-peer power like China. The official also mentioned a Trump administration “obsession” with creating “comprehensive federal databases.”

Men ages 18 to 25 who are eligible to be drafted have been required to register with the government since 1980. Failure to do so is a felony, which bars unregistered men from most federal jobs, eligibility for student loans, and carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison.

More than 100 million men have registered in the last 46 years. But according to the Selective Service, just 81 percent of eligible men registered in 2024, a 3 percent point drop from the prior year.

On Wednesday, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said President Donald Trump “keeps his options on the table,” when Fox News host Maria Bartiromo asked her about the possibility of a return of the draft. But Trump would be required to get approval from Congress to enact a draft, which was last used during the Vietnam War.

Iran Appointed to UN Program for Women’s Rights, Disarmament, and Terrorism Prevention

The Islamic Republic of Iran has been nominated to the U.N. Committee for Program and Coordination, which shapes policy on women’s rights, human rights, disarmament, and terrorism prevention. The nomination was backed by ECOSOC members, including the UK, Spain, Canada, France, Germany, Norway, the Netherlands, Australia, Switzerland, Austria, and Finland.

This is part of a broader pattern. In February 2026, an Iranian regime official took her seat as a full member of the UN Human Rights Council’s Advisory Committee, contributing to discussions on gender perspectives and gender-based violence, while Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister addressed the council’s high-level opening session.

Iran was previously removed from a comparable body in 2022, when ECOSOC voted 29 to 8 to remove it from the Commission on the Status of Women following its violent crackdown on protesters after the death of Mahsa Amini. It is now being nominated back onto similar bodies.

Analysis: More Than 90 Percent Of Funds Backing Dems’ Gerrymandering Scheme Come From Outside Virginia

Democrats love to complain about big “dark money” donors trying to influence U.S. elections. But if their concerns were actually genuine, where is their outrage about the massive wave of out-of-state money flooding Virginia to pass their deceptively worded gerrymandering amendment?

According to figures compiled by the Virginia Public Access Project (VPAP), the wrongly named “Virginians for Fair Elections” has received nearly $50 million to deceive voters into supporting a legally questionable ballot measure allowing the state’s Democrat-run General Assembly to redraw the commonwealth’s congressional map. The party’s current proposal would gerrymander the state’s U.S. House districts from a six Democrat-five Republican map to a 10 Democrat-one Republican map and effectively disenfranchise millions of rural Virginians in the process.

In the months leading up to the April 21 referendum, Virginians for Fair Elections has deployed dishonest ads characterizing Democrats’ gerrymandering scheme as “fair,” and claiming it’s about protecting “democracy,” a much-needed “emergency,” and “level[ing] the playing field.” But it’s clear after examining the funds being poured into the group, however, that most of its financial support isn’t coming from the Virginians it pretends it’s trying to help, but from leftist organizations based outside the state.

A Federalist analysis of the latest donation figures assembled by the Virginia Public Access Project shows that more than 90 percent of Virginians for Fair Elections’ large contributions come from Democrat-aligned out-of-state groups.

The organization’s largest contributor is none other than the D.C.-based House Majority Forward (HMF), a 501(c)(4) that boasts ties to House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and House Democrat leadership. According to InfluenceWatch, HMF — which has given $29.3 million to Virginians for Fair Elections — “focuses on climate change, social justice, economics, and democracy, and produces ads in favor of Democratic candidates and opposed to Republican candidates for the U.S. House of Representatives.”

The second largest donor ($11.02 million) to Virginians for Fair Elections is The Fairness Project. InfluenceWatch describes the D.C.-based 501(c)(4) as a “labor union-backed advocacy organization that finances and supports state ballot initiative campaigns to promote left-of-center policies such as government-mandated comprehensive paid family and medical leave, Medicaid expansion, and minimum wage increases.”

African Descendant Claims British Threatened Her Ancestor, Then Learns He Was a Slaver Trying to Keep Brits from Ending Slavery in City He Ruled

Normally, we shouldn’t have to care about Ọmọba Antoinette Oyínkánsọ́lá Fernandez, better known as Antoinette Fernandez.

Her major claim to fame was that she was the Green Party candidate in the 2024 United Kingdom General Election for the parliamentary seat in Hackney North and Stoke Newington. She finished second, with 23 percent of the vote to 60 percent for the Labour Party candidate.

However, the Green Party — which has become a radical identitarian party that panders to the worst elements of Britain’s Islamic community — has seen a dramatic rise in its fortunes in the past few years, including winning a by-election in February that augurs poorly for Labour going forward. Fernandez, therefore, has a good chance of becoming a member of the U.K. Parliament in the not-too-distant future.

Second, Fernandez is profoundly ignorant and is willing to use that ignorance as a cudgel to make you think that she’s owed deference because of Britain’s colonial past. She is of Nigerian descent, and as she claims, her great-great-grandfather — a king — was overthrown by the Brits to avoid his people being massacred.

Just one problem, as users on social media pointed out: If her story is true, the British Navy overthrew her great-great-grandfather to stop the slave trade, which he was facilitating.

Talk about an unforced error.

SELF-AWARENESS FAIL: Rich Man Bruce Springsteen Blasts Rich Men for Abandoning the World

Bruce Springsteen, who is rumored to be worth a billion dollars or more, blasted rich American men for abandoning the world during his resist, hate-Trump tour recently.

This is what the American left is now. They are possessed by a political philosophy based entirely on greed and envy where anyone with wealth is automatically evil – except them, of course.

It’s like they all drank the Bernie Sanders Kool-Aid.

FOX News reports:

Bruce Springsteen blasts rich men in America as critics call out his billions

Bruce Springsteen is turning up the volume — not with music, but with a fiery political speech that’s putting him back at the center of controversy.

The billionaire rocker is facing backlash after recently blasting America’s richest and most powerful in a scathing speech, one that critics say rings differently given his reported $1.2 billion fortune.

According to Forbes’ March 2026 report, “The World’s Celebrity Billionaires,” Springsteen lands at No. 15 with a staggering net worth of $1.2 billion.

Springsteen began to address an audience, saying, “The richest men in America have abandoned the world’s poorest children to death and disease through dismantling of U.S. aid. This is happening now. We’re undermining NATO and the world order that kept us safe and at global peace for 80 years. This is happening now.”

Springsteen widened his attack to U.S. alliances and global standing.

“We threaten our good neighbors and our allies — Canada, the Netherlands whose sons and daughters have fought alongside of us in American wars with predatory annexation of their lands. This is happening now.”

When is a Hate Crime Not a Hate Crime? In Two-Tier Britain, When it’s Against Whites

When is a hate crime not a hate crime? In two-tier Britain, the answer is when it’s against whites. I’ve previously written at length about this double standard for the Daily Sceptic, with the most obvious example of it being the failure over many years to ever prosecute the grooming gangs as racial hate crimes. It’s clear these laws were two-tier from the beginning, and the way the multicultural state continues to work means there is every incentive that they stay that way.

But when offences aren’t treated as hate crimes that probably should be, who precisely is to blame? Is it the fault of the police, the Crown Prosecution Service, or the courts – or all three? Here are three recent cases which would seem to fit the bill of anti-white hate crimes which weren’t treated as such – and the way the authorities have attempted to explain to me why they weren’t.

Amar Hussain

During the Southport unrest an armed Muslim mob attacked the Clumsy Swan pub in Bordesley Green, Birmingham. This formed part of considerable disorder in the Bordesley Green area on August 5th 2024 in part of an “anti-EDL protest” by local Muslims, organised supposedly to defend a local mosque after a rumours of a ‘far-Right’ march that day (this did not transpire). This “protest” involved large groups of masked Muslim men, many of them bearing Palestine flags, menacing reporters, attacking one terrified Skoda driver and trying to kick in the barricaded doors of the Clumsy Swan as families sheltered inside.

One of those to attack the Clumsy Swan was 34 year-old Amar Hussain. While most of the customers had sheltered inside, one lone white man remained outside, Sean McDonagh, 51, and he was set upon by Hussain and others, punched and kicked to the ground, and left needing to be hospitalised with a lacerated liver.

Hussain pleaded guilty to violent disorder and assault by beating, receiving for his two offences one month less than Lucy Connolly did for her single tweet. Hussain’s paltry sentence for the unprovoked attack could have been much higher if the offence were treated as a hate crime. Why wasn’t it? The CPS told me this: “The EDL is not recognised as a racial or religious group. There were no factors in the behaviour that made this a specific assault due to religious or racial motivations.”

This is a bizarre excuse and indeed, an outrageous one. “No factors”? Was the fact that a Muslim mob set upon a random white bloke, the only one not barricaded inside the pub, not a factor? What about the assault on the pub itself, pubs being bastions of Englishness in a highly segregated city in which notionally non-drinking Muslims rarely step? The claim that the English Defence League is not a recognised racial group, meanwhile, is not only puzzling (are the English not a racial group?) but is in a total non-sequitur. McDonagh was not a member of the EDL (the group has been defunct for several years). He was simply white man standing outside a pub not holding a Palestine flag. This was apparently all it took for this anti-EDL mob to unleash its violent fury upon him; he was clearly targeted as an Englishman and non-Muslim. But in the apparent absence of a specific exclamation like ‘get whitey’ or ‘you white bastard’, the CPS insists this mob was entirely colourblind.

Ameer Khalile

The previous day at the other end of the Pennines in Middlesborough, Ameer Khalile was part of another Muslim mob which shouted “white racist scum” as they chased a man down the street, before Khalile stamped on his victim’s head in a “vicious and violent” attack. The judge noted that his innocent victim, who, having been left face down in a ditch, could easily have drowned, was “probably attacked because he was white”. Khalile’s sentence for violent disorder and attempted grievous bodily harm with intent was just 34 months.

When I initially asked the CPS why the offence hadn’t been prosecuted as racially aggravated, I was told that in fact it had. What followed was a long back and forth in which, essentially, the court and the CPS blamed each other for racial aggravation not having been considered.

The CPS said: “At Ameer Khalile’s sentencing the prosecution asked the judge to consider that his offence was racially aggravated, under section 66 of the Sentencing Act 2020.” However, in his sentencing remarks, which I obtained, Judge Richard Clews said (emphasis mine):

The attempted causing grievous bodily with intent took place first, it’s captured on CCTV. You were part of a group that attacked Lewis Cook for no other reason, it seems to me, other than that he appeared to be simply in your path at the time and was a convenient target. As far I can tell, he done absolutely nothing wrong and nothing to any of you, and he was probably attacked because he was white, indeed certain comments were made by members of the group to that effect. You’re not charged with a racially aggravated offence, that much is clear, and I, therefore, take that into account. There’s no evidence it was you who uttered those words, and although you might have been associated with them, I can’t be sure of that.

When I put these comments at sentencing to the CPS, a press officer, having double-checked, said that “our advocate in court did ask the judge to impose an uplift”. He then appeared to question the judge’s ruling, adding: “We’re not sure why this is not reflected in the judge’s sentencing remarks.”

Patriots Head Coach Mike Vrabel CAUGHT on Camera in ‘Intimate Moments’ with Married Leftist NYT Reporter — Just Days After Lecturing Christian Player Over Bible Verse

The head coach of the New England Patriots, Mike Vrabel, was photographed in what many are calling highly inappropriate interactions with a married reporter tied to far-left The New York Times.

The photos, first obtained by Page Six and now blowing up across the internet, show the married Patriots boss hugging, holding hands with fingers interlocked, and relaxing in a hot tub alone with Dianna Russini, a top NFL insider for The Athletic (the sports arm of the failing New York Times).

A ‘Page Six spy’ said that Vrabel and Russini spent the day together at the ultra-luxury Ambiente resort in Sedona, Arizona, on March 28th.

They were spotted having breakfast, lounging poolside, soaking in a private hot tub for nearly an hour, and later heading up to a $2,000-a-night rooftop bungalow with those iconic red rock views.

Photos show the pair getting very comfortable, hugging tightly and interlocking fingers like a couple on a romantic getaway.
