‘You’ve Got to be Freaking Kidding Me’: U.S. Military Spends Over $700 Million for Ozempic and Other GLP-1 Weight Loss Meds

Military personnel criticize the hundreds of millions spent on weight loss medications as a misguided approach to addressing the obesity crisis in the U.S. Armed Forces.

A report from the American Security Project in 2025 revealed that approximately 68 percent—two out of three—of the military’s Reserve and National Guard forces are classified as overweight.

Subsequent to this report, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth expressed his concern on X, stating, “Completely unacceptable. This is what happens when standards are IGNORED – and this is what we are changing. REAL fitness & weight standards are here. We will be FIT, not FAT.”

Was the solution found in raising the bar for “REAL fitness & weight standards?” Perhaps they were. However, some startling revelations concerning weight loss have emerged, with RealClearInvestigations dubbing this disclosure the “Waste of the Day.”

Since 2021, the military has allocated nearly $726 million for Ozempic and other GLP-1 weight loss medications, with $274.6 million spent in fiscal year 2025, as revealed by spending records acquired by Open the Books.

This expenditure encompasses 102,597 individual purchases, all made through the Defense Logistics Agency for “troop support.” The majority of the funds were directed to the wholesale pharmaceutical company Cencora. Over a dozen varieties of GLP-1 medications were acquired, including Wegovy, Mounjaro, and Trulicity.

Many individuals—and taxpayers alike—who have served in the military are infuriated.

Lt. Ted Macie, a retired Navy Medical Service Corps officer, was appalled. He informed The Gateway Pundit that data obtained from the Defense Medical Epidemiology Database (DMED) indicate that obesity rates have surged in the military over the last decade.

From 2016 to 2019, an average of 13,863 cases of overweight and obesity were documented across all branches of service. This average rose to 21,969 between 2020 and 2023. Remarkably, there was a 190 percent increase during this period, with cases soaring from 12,249 to 35,531.

Michigan Senate candidate doubles down on rural America jab when confronted on old tweets

Michigan Senate candidate Mallory McMorrow stands by her since-deleted post on social media agreeing with the notion that rural America could learn from coastal elites.

McMorrow joined CNN on Sunday and host Manu Raju said, “In 2016, a user posted, ‘I‘m from the rural Midwest. All this talk about coastal elites needing to understand more of America has it backwards.’ You wrote in response to that user, this thread, ‘I’m from rural New Jersey. This ranks 100%.’ So do you stand by that sentiment that rural parts of America can learn from coastal elites?”

McMorrow, who has deleted roughly 6,000 social media posts amid her Senate campaign, argued that everyone should try to understand each other a little better.

“Trump has succeeded in weaponizing us against each other, convincing us that we are each other’s enemies,” McMorrow said. “I‘ve lived all over the country. I’ve met a lot of different people, and I stand by that. Was it the most eloquent tweet I’ve ever tweeted? No, I’ve tweeted thousands of times. There is a level of authenticity and just grappling, in the wake of the 2016 election, of how somebody like Donald Trump could have been elected. And what I know is we are not each other’s enemies, and we need to understand each other better.”

A detransitioner, Camille once believed a non-binary double mastectomy would finally provide relief where 20- years of talk therapy with conventional modalities hadn’t; she lives with physical health issues from the surgery. Through improved diet, and directly addressing her physical health imbalances, her mental health resolved. She now brings awareness to the often overlooked, but undeniable link between physical health and mental health.

Camille determined that the discomforts that lead to her gender dysphoria were rooted in the state of her physical health all along—and they had been overlooked by her doctor, two mental health professionals, and a surgeon.

“Gender affirming treatments are experimental, risky and distributed inconsistently. Before we consider invasive surgeries, we must first look at all low-risk alternative treatments that address the physical health of the individual,” she shares.

In 2022, she filed a malpractice lawsuit against her social worker, therapist, and the gender clinics they work for, Brave Space Oregon and Quest Center for Integrative Health, after alleging they failed to properly screen her mental health issues before approving the mastectomy.

In an amended lawsuit, she further alleges that doctors did not discuss the risks involved with the proposed surgery.

Investigative journalist Benjamin Ryan was the first to report that a confidential settlement had been reached, “just days before the trial was slated to begin.”

The dollar, pound, euro, peso, yen or whichever fiat, unbacked currency is in your wallet or bank account is the very means by which we are all enslaved.

It is a brilliant, hidden system of cunning, evil genius – to make the commodity most sought after the world over (because it is the most exchangeable for the things you want and need; the very thing that keeps the state getting more powerful, the corporations squeezing ever more small and independent businesses out of the market, the courts maintaining the unjust status quo and the media propagandising everyone using every trick in the book – all to keep the system in place and the rulers in power.

The best way to keep a population enslaved is to never let them see the bars of the cage and give them the illusion of freedom.

So you get a choice between red and blue political teams, different brands of the same poisonous crap, and different branded stores where the poisonous crap is sold, but that is not freedom; it’s a system developed over centuries so that its slaves become comfortable in their open air prison and even fight to maintain it, believing it’s the best system possible, or it wouldn’t exist and another would surely have taken its place by now.

Aren’t we just the most advanced civilisation there has ever been? I mean, look at our amazing buildings (and modern works of art)!

It Starts With Indoctrination At School

Do you never wonder why we are not taught about the most basic mechanisms of our economic life in school, if school is supposed to prepare us for the world ahead as an adult?

You might have been taught what a bank account was and how to open and use one and then they just implant the necessity of money in our minds and there it stays as we keep chasing the carrot and avoiding the stick for most of our working lives, without ever understanding where currency comes from and why it is so hard to accumulate enough to buy the things we need in life like a home, land, transport, etc.

Here is the shocking truth they will never tell you: the money we borrow when we go for a loan or a mortgage is not from someone else’s deposits, again, as most are taught, even at university level.

Fractional reserve banking would be bad enough, but what the actual mechanism is, as confirmed by the Bank of England’s ‘Money Creation in the Modern Economy’ report from 2014 and many other researchers before and since, is far worse than even starting with real labour-produced savings: the money is created when you sign for the loan.

If you didn’t know that before, it should indeed be shocking, but it’s not “conspiracy theory” or conjecture – The Bank of England says so.

Biden DEI Judge Orders ICE to Release Illegal-alien Murder Suspect; Other DEI Appointees Block Arrests, Deportations

Yet another federal judge appointed in the name of diversity, equity, and inclusion has freed yet another illegal-alien thug whom Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested.

Melissa DuBose, appointed to the U.S. District Court for Rhode Island by President Joe Biden, freed Bryan Rafael Gomez, who isn’t just an illegal-alien criminal. He is also the subject of an Interpol warrant for murder.

DuBose isn’t the first — and certainly won’t be the last — far-left judge to side with criminals over Americans. She is the third Biden DEI appointee to interfere with immigration enforcement in favor of an illegal alien.

Red Notice

Yet another illegal released into the country in 2022 at the border by the Biden administration, Gomez is a fairly typical illegal-alien thug.

“On April 4, 2026, the Worcester [Massachusetts] Police Department arrested Gomez, a criminal illegal alien from the Dominican Republic, for assault and battery,” the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) reported. “The detainer was honored, and after he was released on $500 bail,” ICE arrested him.

But Gomez is more than just a “criminal,” DHS continued:

On January 24, 2023, the Coordination of the Courts of Instruction of the National District of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, issued a criminal arrest warrant for Bryan Rafael Gomez for homicide.

So, of course, DuBose — the black female DEI judge — had to set him loose despite a removal order, perhaps to kill an American.

Fox News’ Bill Melugin explained on X that Gomez had not only a valid deportation order, but also an “Interpol Red Notice arrest warrant for murder in his home [country].”  

“DuBose ordered Gomez be released from ICE custody on the grounds of ‘continuous unlawful detention,’ while ICE argued that Gomez was subject to mandatory detention due to having an international arrest warrant for homicide,” Melugin wrote.

Israel threatens Gaza war resumption to force disarmament as ‘truce’ frays

In the shattered neighbourhoods of Khan Younis and Deir el-Balah in the Gaza Strip, the roar of Israeli drones and the concussive thud of controlled demolitions are daily reminders that the war has never really ended.

Despite a “ceasefire” in place since October, families continue to pull bodies from the rubble. According to local medical sources, 828 Palestinians have been killed since the “truce” began. Now, families in Gaza are bracing for a renewed offensive as Israeli officials threaten to tear up the fragile agreement to force a surrender.

In Jerusalem, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu abruptly cancelled a scheduled security cabinet meeting on Sunday, opting instead for smaller consultations. Simultaneously, the military has ramped up pressure to resume hostilities. A senior official in the Israeli military’s General Staff told Channel 15 that an additional round of fighting was “almost inevitable”, citing the refusal of Hamas to surrender its weapons and the alleged “failure” of the International Stabilization Force, a multinational body deployed under the recent truce framework to oversee security and manage the ceasefire’s implementation.

Israel’s Army Radio reported that on the ground, the military has steadily been enlarging the territory it controls in the besieged enclave. By gradually pushing the “ceasefire”-established “Yellow Line” westwards, Israeli forces have expanded their territorial control to 59 percent of the Strip, regularising their occupation through daily violations of the “ceasefire” and moving additional troops from the Lebanese front into Gaza and the occupied West Bank.

Shortly after winning the Virginia governor race by running on a campaign about affordability, it was widely reported that Virginia Democrats were gearing up to create a slew of new taxes for their constituents.

Now it is being reported that Spanberger is considering a new tax on gym memberships and possibly on streaming networks as well. Wehere does it end and how is any of this considered part of affordability?

More importantly, why is cutting the size of the state government not even a consideration?

Virginia’s new Democrat governor teases possible tax on GYM MEMBERSHIPS and streaming services

Virginia’s new governor has teased that she may sign a new tax on gym memberships and streaming services if the bills ever reach her desk.

Democrat Abigail Spanberger refused to give a straight answer when asked about the so-called liberal wish list of taxation opportunities that Democrats are attempting to pass in her state.

Spanberger, a former intelligence officer who became governor in January, has made clear she is looking for unorthodox ways to create new revenue streams in Virginia.

New bills were introduced in the Virginia state legislature that proposed expanding taxes to include storage facilities, counseling, dry cleaning, vehicle repair, website design, data storage and digital subscription storage.

A tax on retail sales of services was also floated as an idea under bill HB978 – which would include fitness memberships and athletic club services.

The controversial tax bills never got through the General Assembly before the session’s end on March 14, meaning that it never reached Spanberger’s desk – but that may change in the future.

It’s remarkable how quickly Spanberger and her Democrat cohorts moved to create new taxes.

Warren blames Spirit Airlines closure on Iran war after advocating against JetBlue-Spirit merger

Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., is receiving backlash from GOP lawmakers for pushing former President Biden’s Justice Department to block the merger of JetBlue and Spirit Airlines. 

“The 14,000 employees at Spirit who’ve lost their job loss, the travelers who will now pay higher fares, and the shareholders and debt holders who have been wiped out can thank Elizabeth Warren,” Sen. Bernie Moreno (R-Ohio) wrote on X on Saturday. “Electing left politicians, who have ZERO business experience, has consequences.”

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz reposted a critical Warren post and wrote, “Stunning.” 

Warren defended her advocacy against the merger by blaming a federal judge for stopping it. 

“Spiking fuel prices from Trump’s war was the nail in the coffin for twice-bankrupted Spirit airline,” Warren wrote in a post on X. FWIW, JetBlue merger failed because a judge, appointed by Ronald Reagan, said the deal was illegal. Republicans are desperate to shift blame from higher costs hitting families.”

Biden’s Justice Department had detailed its involvement in blocking the merger back in 2024.

“Our win in court is a victory for U.S. travelers who deserve lower prices and better choices,” said Assistant Attorney General Jonathan Kanter of the Justice Department’s Antitrust Division. “We fought this case to protect consumers who, as the court recognized, ‘otherwise would have no voice.’ I am incredibly proud of the Antitrust Division’s team and our state law enforcement partners’ tireless advocacy.”

Warren had pushed the Department of Transportation under Biden to work to block the merger, as detailed in a letter she wrote.

She also applauded the blockage of the merger.
