Jeanine Pirro Launches DOJ Investigation Into Whether DC Has Been Faking Crime Data

Four weeks after a DC police commander was suspended amid accusations that he manipulated crime statistics, the Department of Justice has launched a wide-ranging investigation into whether the department has been faking data to make crime rates lower, the Washington Post reports, citing two senior law enforcement officials.

The investigation is run out of DC US Attorney Jeanine Pirro’s office following the accusation lodged against Metro PD commander Michael Pulliam, who was put on leave in May after the department began investigating whether he altered crime data. Pullman has denied the allegations.

Pulliam’s paid administrative leave came a week after he filed an equal employment opportunity complaint against an assistant chief over accusations that the department deliberately falsified crime data. The Police union, meanwhile, claims police supervisors in the department manipulate crime data to make it appear violent crime has fallen considerably compared to last year.

The DOJ investigation, however, will go much further – and will include other police and city officials who may have also fabricated or altered crime data.

“D. C. gave Fake Crime numbers to create a false illusion of safety,” President Trump wrote on Truth Social Monday night.

Canadian man ARRESTED for assaulting intruder during home invasion

A confrontation inside a Lindsay apartment early Monday left one man in hospital with life-threatening injuries and another facing assault charges, according to police.

The Kawartha Lakes Police Service said the incident took place at an apartment on Kent Street shortly after 3 a.m. Officers were called after a resident reported confronting an intruder inside his home, reports CTV News.

Investigators allege the resident, a 44-year-old Lindsay man, attacked the 41-year-old intruder, leading to what police described as an “altercation.” The intruder was later airlifted to a Toronto hospital with serious injuries.

Following an investigation, police charged the resident with aggravated assault and assault with a weapon.

The owner of the house, whose name is Jeremy, according to journalist Ezra Levant, has “launched a petition to strengthen the ‘castle doctrine’ in law.” The man’s lawyer will also be crowdfunded.

The man accused of breaking into the apartment is also facing charges. Police say he was already wanted on unrelated matters at the time of his arrest. He has now been charged with break and enter, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and two additional offences.

House Oversight Committee to Make Epstein Files Public After Issuing Subpoena to DOJ

The House Oversight Committee will release some documents pertaining to the Jeffrey Epstein case later this week, after it issued a subpoena to the Department of Justice (DOJ) on August 5.

“The committee expects to receive the documents later this week after issuing a subpoena in August to the department for records related to Epstein,” CBS News noted.

The subpoena follows the Justice Department declaring in an internal review released in July that convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein had no “client list,” adding that investigators discovered no evidence of him blackmailing high-profile elites.

A spokesperson for the House Oversight Committee said that files will be released after reviews and redactions are made.

“The Committee intends to make the records public after thorough review to ensure all victims’ identification and child sexual abuse material are redacted,” the spokesperson said in a statement. “The Committee will also consult with the DOJ to ensure any documents released do not negatively impact ongoing criminal cases and investigations.”

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer said on Monday that the Department of Justice has been cooperating with the subpoena.

Billionaires Backing Woke Math Doesn’t Add Up Amid DEI Rollback

Jim Simons’ mathematical skills helped transform him from a prize-winning academic at Harvard and MIT into a legendary financier whose algorithmic models made Renaissance Technologies one of the most successful hedge funds in history. After his death last year, one of his consequential bequests went to his daughter, Liz, who oversees the Heising-Simons Foundation and its nearly billion-dollar endowment.

What Liz Simons has chosen to do with that inheritance might have surprised her father. Jim Simons devoted much of his charitable giving to basic research in mathematics and science, but his daughter’s foundation is moving in a very different direction. The Heising-Simons Foundation and similar organizations are supercharging a movement to remake K-12 mathematics education according to social justice principles.

The revamp the advocates seek is profound. They reject well-established practices of math instruction while infusing lessons with racial and gender themes. The goal is to motivate disadvantaged students while dispensing with the traditional features of math, like numerical computation, that they struggle with on standardized tests – considered an oppressive feature of white supremacist culture.

In many quarters, including corporations and universities, diversity, equity, and inclusion programs are in retreat due to pressure from the Trump administration and the courts. Not so in public education, with curricula that are locally controlled and largely insulated from the dictates of Washington. That allows progressive foundations and like-minded charitable trusts to continue to pour millions of dollars into reshaping math education for black and Latino kids, including a $800,000 grant this year from the Heising-Simons Foundation, even though there exists no credible research showing that the social justice approach improves their performance.

Civil liberties group opposes Garda access to messages

Plans to force encrypted messaging apps like WhatsApp and Signal to give Gardaí access to private conversations would “profoundly undermine” digital security, the Irish Council for Civil Liberties (ICCL) has said.

In a statement issued this week, the group said cybersecurity experts were unanimous that so-called “backdoors” for law enforcement could not be created without also leaving users vulnerable to hackers and malicious actors.

“It is impossible to create ‘backdoor’ access pathways for law enforcement that can’t also be exploited,” the organisation said.

The ICCL added that encryption protects not only personal conversations but also online banking, shopping and wider digital activity.

“We all rely on encryption to safeguard our sensitive personal data when browsing, communicating or doing business online,” it said.

“Forcing companies to break their own encryption would profoundly undermine our digital security, as well as our fundamental rights to privacy and data protection.”

The council cited the position of the United Nations and the European Court of Human Rights in opposing laws that compromise encryption. It also highlighted the recent example of the UK government withdrawing a demand for Apple to install a backdoor into its cloud services, after the company refused.

“Apple stated it had never built – and never would build – backdoor access into any of its encrypted products,” the ICCL noted.

“Instead, Apple disabled its advanced data protection service in the UK and challenged the order in court.”

The group urged Justice Minister Jim O’Callaghan to reconsider his planned legislation, describing the proposals as “neither proportionate nor technically sound.”

It called for “transparent consultation with cybersecurity experts, civil society and technologists before proposing any legislation that could irreversibly damage digital privacy and cybersecurity.”

Last month, O’Callaghan told an audience that Gardaí must have powers to intercept modern communications.

“None of us would like to imagine living in a surveillance State,” he said.

Ex-Space Force sergeant Orest Schur sentenced to 54 years in prison for fatally shooting suspected teen car thief

A former US Space Force sergeant who fired multiple rounds at two suspected carjackers outside his home, killing a 14-year-old, has been sentenced to over half a century in jail.

Orest Schur, 29, became emotional as he apologized for murdering 14-year-old Xavier Kirk before he was sentenced to 54 years in prison for the 2023 fatal shooting, the Adams and Broomfield Counties District Attorney’s Office announced.

“I am sorry for the events that occurred that night, for the pain, for the grief and trauma that have followed and for the impact that my case had on so many lives,” a tearful Schur told an Aurora, Colo., courtroom on Aug. 15.

The deadly shooting also left a 13-year-old hospitalized.

Schur, then a technical sergeant with the US Space Force based in Aurora, was awakened by a car alarm outside his apartment around 11 p.m. July 5, 2023.

The then-27-year-old grabbed a pistol and ran outside to his Hyundai Elantra, where he spotted two people dressed in all black attempting to break into the car.

Schur confronted the individuals, but the would-be carjackers fled in another car.

The sergeant gave chase in his car and fired multiple rounds at the teens.

The fleeing car crashed into the backyard fence of a home four blocks south of Schur’s residence.

Israel Considers Military Recruitment Inside USA As Soldier Shortage Persists

Amid an enduring soldier shortage, and as an all-out occupation of Gaza looms, the Israel Defense Forces are considering a campaign to recruit soldiers from Jewish populations living in the United States and other countries around the world.

According to Israeli Army Radio, a state media outlet, Israel may mount an effort to recruit 600 to 700 Jews a year from the diaspora, a term referring to Jews living somewhere other than Israel. At first, Israel would concentrate its effort in the United States and France, the countries with the two largest Jewish populations, at roughly 6 million and 450,000, respectively.

As of February, there were 3,500 diaspora soldiers serving in the IDF, with nearly 900 of them Americans. Israel calls such troops lone soldiers. “The majority of American lone soldiers are coming after high school, either directly after high school or after a gap year program,” said Noya Govrin, Director of the Lone Soldiers Program at Nefesh b’Nefesh, a nonprofit that encourages Americans and Canadians to “make aliyah” — that is, to move to Israel and become citizens. “In the past two years, there has been a notable increase in college graduates that come to Israel to serve as lone soldiers,” she told Times of Israel.

Earlier this month, one of those American lone soldiers who’d recently returned from service in Gaza was the target of an overnight arson attack on vehicles parked at his family’s house in suburban St. Louis, Missouri. Graffiti painted on the street accused him of being a murderer and proclaimed DEATH TO THE IDF.

FDA Warns About Potentially Radioactive Frozen Shrimp Sold at Walmart Stores

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on Tuesday issued a public warning against potentially radioactive frozen shrimp products sold at Walmart stores in several states.

The FDA alert urged the public not to consume, sell, or serve certain Great Value raw frozen shrimp due to possible contamination with Cesium-137, a radioactive isotope.

Impacted Shrimp Products

Walmart also shared the FDA’s warning on its website.

The impacted raw frozen shrimp products were sold under the Great Value brand at stores in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Texas, and West Virginia.

The impacted products have been stamped with lot codes 8005540-1, 8005538-1, and 8005539-1.

They also have Best by Dates of 3/15/2027.

What is Cesium-137?

Cesium-137, also referred to as Cs-137, is a radioactive isotope of cesium that is man-made through nuclear reactions, according to the FDA. The agency says because Cs-137 is “widespread worldwide,” trace amounts of the radioisotope can be found in soil, food, and the air.

Judge Gives Probation to Las Vegas Teen Who Fatally Shot Dad over Taking Away Electronics

A judge ordered probation on Thursday for the teenager who fatally shot his father on December 28 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The accused is 16-year-old Lincoln Peterson. HIs mother said the deadly incident happened after the boy’s family took his electronics away because of his bad grades, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported on Thursday.

His parents reportedly believed he was “sneaking electronics” and a fight erupted.

“The teen said his mother had struck him with a belt, according to an adult certification order. He was running from his parents when he picked up a handgun sitting on top of a dryer and fired backward,” the article read. However, the teenager claimed he was unaware he hit someone.

Newly Released Emails Reveal Joe Biden’s Own DOJ Red-Flagged Thousands of Last-Minute Autopen Pardons

Newly released emails released by DOJ official Ed Martin reveal Joe Biden’s own Justice Department red-flagged the thousands of last-minute autopen pardons.

Earlier this year it was revealed Ed Martin was probing Joe Biden’s pardons amid the growing autopen scandal.

The Oversight Project broke the story about the Biden autopen scandal wide open after they discovered thousands of acts of clemency and executive actions were signed with an autopen rather than a wet signature.

There was a second frequently used autopen signature for Joe Biden’s pardons and commutations.

Autopen A and Autopen B have slight differences in the signatures.

Biden officials such as Neera Tanden, Jeff Zeints, Stephanie Feldman and others were involved in the autopen scandal.

The New York Times recently reviewed some of the emails that the National Archives handed over to the Trump DOJ as part of their investigation into the autopen scandal.

The emails revealed that Biden’s staffers made decisions to sign the pardons with the autopen without directly hearing the orders from Joe Biden.

It was revealed that Joe Biden did not approve of each name for the pardons – AND after changes were made about the specific inmates, Biden did NOT sign off on the revised list. Rather, his aides just ran the final version through the autopen without Biden’s approval.

Now this…

Biden’s own DOJ warned that the last-minute autopen pardons of cop killers and child murderers was legally flawed.
