Marius Borg Høiby Released on House Arrest as He Appeals His Rape Conviction – Reunited With His Recovering Mother Norwegian Crown Princess Mette-Marit

In the case of Høiby, it’s a ‘palace arrest’.

The Norwegian Royal Family drama had another development today, as the convicted son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit has been released on house arrest, as he continues to appeal his conviction and sentencing for rape and other charges.

GB News reported:

“Marius Borg Høiby, who was arrested in August 2024, will be transferred from prison and held at a home with an electronic tag for the next four weeks, according to VG.

The outlet said that he will stay in a royal residence near Skaugum, the home of his mother and Crown Prince Haakon. […] ‘During his period of custody with electronic monitoring, Marius Borg Høiby will reside in a property at his disposal in Semsveien. The Crown Prince Couple wishes to support him through his current phase’.”

“Høiby, 29, who has been in custody since February, was found guilty of two counts of rape, domestic abuse and other offences and sentenced to four years in prison last month. He was also acquitted of two counts of rape.”

Høiby appealed the convictions, while the state prosecutor appealed the sentencing.

Also today (16), his mother, Crown Princess Mette-Marit, had been discharged from the hospital after undergoing a lung transplant last month.

“According to Are Holm, Head of the Department of Respiratory Medicine at Oslo University Hospital Rikshospitalet, Mette-Marit’s condition is ‘as good as can be expected’. Meanwhile, the Crown Princess released a statement saying she is ‘deeply grateful’ and has been ‘given the gift of life’.”

Declassified Intelligence Records: China ‘Compromised’ at Least 18 State Voter Rolls

On Thursday evening, President Donald Trump’s White House published declassified documents related to election integrity and China’s encroachment into American elections.

One of those documents, a disclosure from the United States intelligence community via the White House Task Force on Government Transparency, suggests that at least 18 states have had their voter rolls “compromised” by China.

The document posted by the White House only names 15 of the 18 states, as well as the District of Columbia. Those named in the document are:

  • Alaska
  • Arkansas
  • Colorado
  • Connecticut
  • District of Columbia
  • Florida
  • Georgia
  • Iowa
  • Kansas
  • Maryland
  • Michigan
  • New York
  • North Carolina
  • Ohio
  • Oklahoma
  • Rhode Island

In addition, the document states that the U.S. intelligence community has found that more than 200 million voter records have been compromised by China.

REPORT: Pentagon Draws Up Plans for Possible Military Action Against Communist Cuba

Senior Pentagon officials are reviewing military options for Cuba as the Trump administration intensifies pressure on Havana’s communist government.

According to CBS News, the planning reportedly includes a possible Army-led air assault involving thousands of U.S. troops from the 101st Airborne Division.

Officials stressed that no operation has been approved and that the discussions remain at the contingency-planning stage.

The review follows months of escalating pressure on the communist regime.

President Trump restored Cuba’s designation as a state sponsor of terrorism after returning to office, expanded restrictions on travel and financial transactions, and targeted the military-controlled conglomerate GAESA, which dominates much of the island’s hard-currency economy.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio has pushed for a negotiated transition to a reform-minded government, but talks have stalled.

In a recent statement, Rubio said Cuba’s ruling elite continues to maintain “total control” while clinging to a “morally bankrupt Marxist ideology.”

Why the Left Hates Idling Cars

There’s nothing that bugs the anti-petroleum Left more than seeing hundreds of non-moving cars with their engines running. They call it a waste of gasoline.

Of course, it’s not actually a waste of gasoline at all; it’s just part of driving. We need cars to stop at red lights; that’s what red lights are for, so that traffic is managed safely. Cars stop for a moment at a stop sign, a little longer at a red light, sometimes going back and forth from stop to start on a highway or other major road during rush hour, or when sitting in the intersection awaiting a right or left turn.

You can’t look at each segment of a road trip separately; the issue is driving from point A to point B, not studying each individual step along the way. Stopping at stop signs and red lights is just part of the process of safe driving; it allows a huge number of cars to share the road network in all directions with a minimum of accidents.

But somewhere along the way, the Left came up with the idea of an automatic stop-start mechanism (also known as micro hybrid, idling stop, or other names). It’s an automatic way for the car to shut down its engine whenever it detects that the vehicle has come to a stop, without the driver switching it off.

I’m sure this idea sounds wonderful to the Leftists who dreamed it up; you are no longer burning up gasoline for the 10 seconds at the stop sign, or the 30 to 120 seconds at the red light, or the 15 or 30 seconds while waiting to turn left, or the minute while waiting for a police car, ambulance, or funeral procession to pass by, and so forth.

It sounds to the Left like a fabulous savings of gasoline. This must be wonderful for the environment, right?

That’s as far as the Left goes with it. They don’t dig any deeper. So the EPA started offering a tax credit to auto manufacturers who would add this tool, and before you knew it, 18 separate manufacturers were taking advantage of this tax credit, installing stop-start mechanisms in cars and SUVs and minivans. It’s almost unavoidable now.

The Trump administration is removing this foolhardy tax credit this year, in hopes that automakers will stop installing this alleged “feature” as soon as possible.

Why?

Not because the Right doesn’t like conserving gasoline. We pay the same price at the pump that the Left does; everyone wants to save money.

But because the Right dug deeper into the issue, and recognized that this allegedly environmental improvement was actually a net cost — to the driver, to the economy, maybe even to the cause of safety.

Is there a tiny savings in fuel consumption alone? Perhaps. It takes fuel to stop and start, and it takes fuel to idle. How long you idle will affect the net result in actual mpg.

Longtime White House Teleprompter Operator Suspended Amid Shocking Allegations of Profiting Off President Trump’s Speeches on Prediction Market

A longtime White House technical assistant who has operated President Trump’s teleprompter since his historic 2016 campaign has been suspended after allegedly running a lucrative insider betting scheme.

Federal regulators are reportedly in settlement talks with Gabriel “Gabe” Perez over shocking allegations that he pocketed more than $100,000 on the prediction market Kalshi.

According to ABC News, Perez used his high-level security clearance and direct access to the presidential speech drafts to wager on Kalshi’s highly popular “Mentions” market.

These prediction markets allow users to bet on whether specific words or phrases like “rigged election,” “fake news,” or geopolitical terms will be spoken aloud by the President during a public address.

Because Perez loaded the speeches onto the teleprompter himself, he allegedly knew exactly what President Trump was going to say before the rest of the world.

According to ABC News, citing sources familiar with the matter, investigators uncovered instances in which Perez allegedly backed out of bets mid-speech after President Trump skipped a section that contained a word Perez had wagered would be mentioned.

What a Landmark Case in Britain Could Mean for Mother Charged in Idaho Twins’ Deaths

When Angela Cannings’ child died in 1989, doctors concluded the 13-week-old baby girl tragically succumbed to sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).

By the time two more infants — one in 1991, the other in 1999 — died, suspicion replaced sympathy.

Prosecutors alleged the English mother had suffocated her two sons. To make their case, they relied on prominent pediatric experts who testified that multiple unexplained infant deaths in one family were extraordinarily unlikely to occur naturally.

In 2002, a jury convicted Cannings of murder, and she was sentenced to life in prison.

Less than two years later, the England and Wales Court of Appeal overturned the convictions in a decision that fundamentally changed how British courts view expert medical testimony in unexplained child death cases.

Ruling continues to influence legal discussion decades later

The ruling in Cannings’ case continues to influence legal discussions more than two decades later because it established an enduring principle. Namely, when respected medical experts fundamentally disagree about the cause of a child’s death, and there is no compelling independent evidence of homicide, criminal convictions should not rest on disputed scientific opinion alone.

The Court of Appeal had ruled prosecutors should not proceed when reputable experts disagree about the cause of death and there is no other compelling evidence.

That principle has resurfaced in legal commentary as prosecutors in Idaho pursue murder charges against Andrea Shaw, accused of killing her 18-month-old twin toddlers.

The 23-year-old mother was arrested more than a year after her fraternal twins, Dallas and Tyson, were found dead in their home on May 1, 2025, eight days after receiving their 18-month vaccines.

Shaw spoke with CHD.TV days after the tragic 2025 incident, saying at the 18-month mark, the twins received their hepatitis A, DTaP and flu shots. Shaw said she told the pediatrician she was concerned about the flu shot because there was a history of adverse reactions to the vaccine on the father’s side of the family. However, the doctor assured her it was safe for the twins.

Within 24 hours, Shaw took the twins to the emergency room after they both became lethargic, their lips turned blue and they experienced digestive issues. Medical records confirm they were diagnosed with “post-immunization reaction.”

After administering Tylenol and observing the twins as they ate popsicles, doctors sent them home. Shaw told CHD.TV that days later, she discovered both children dead in their beds. “They looked as if they had gone in their sleep,” she said.

Shaw pleaded not guilty, and her attorney said the children died from medical complications rather than homicide. Prosecutors contend the twins were intentionally suffocated. On Tuesday, a district judge in Payette County revoked Shaw’s $2 million bail.

Shaw’s next court date is scheduled for August 18.

Trump Administration Announces Investigation of 75 Truck Driver Schools Suspected of Helping Non-Citizens Obtain CDLs

The Department of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the Department of Transportation (DOT) have announced an investigation into at 75 entry-level truck driver Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) schools across the country suspected of fraudulently helping non-citizen drivers qualify.

Safety experts estimate that as many as 130,000 illegal-alien truck drivers may be operating in the United States, with tens of thousands believed to have obtained licenses through illegitimate means.

The Gateway Pundit has reported on the deadly consequences of illegal alien truckers.

Fox News’ Bill Melugin reports, “NEW: DHS and DOT have announced they’ve identified 75 entry level truck driver CDL schools across the US that are suspected of fraudulently helping non-citizen drivers qualify for CDLs, and the agencies are partnering to investigate them, with HSI and DOT already visiting some of the schools to probe them.”

“Some of the schools are suspected of falsifying training records, providing improper certifications, and failing to properly train the drivers.”

Statements via DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin noted, “Too many American lives have been lost in completely avoidable accidents because illegal aliens have been granted commercial driver’s licenses to drive trucks and 18-wheelers on America’s roadways.”

“DHS law enforcement is partnering with the Department of Transportation to eliminate CDL fraud, strengthen the integrity of the CDL system, and investigate commercial driver’s license schools throughout the country. This is a whole of government approach, to keep America’s roads safe.”

CSIS warned feds about scientist’s China connection for 21 years

CSIS briefed Natural Resources Canada about Dennis Lu not once, not twice, but three times between 2000 and 2021. For two decades, Canada’s spy agency flagged concerns about a senior scientist collaborating with Chinese counterparts on government energy research. And yet, nothing happened.

Then, in June 2023, Lu traveled to China just before his retirement. While there, he allegedly forwarded nearly 2,000 emails from his government account to his personal account.

When he returned to Canada and found his access had been blocked, a manager ordered it reinstated to process his retirement. Weeks later, Lu allegedly copied more than 2,600 documents from a departmental shared server. 

He has since been charged with breach of trust and unauthorized use of federal computers.

Sheila Gunn Reid and Tamara Lich broke down the case on Wednesday’s Buffalo Roundtable, drawing on reporting by Sam Cooper of The Bureau.

An Ontario Superior Court judge has now ordered CSIS and the Privy Council Office to disclose sensitive records in the prosecution — a significant departure, Sheila noted, from the Liberals’ track record of stonewalling on China-related security files.

“For the first time, a judge is ordering the records turned over,” Sheila said. “Which is completely in contrast to what happened with the Winnipeg lab.”

The Winnipeg connection loomed large over the conversation.

Sheila recalled that Chinese scientists at the National Microbiology Laboratory in Winnipeg had transferred virus samples to the Wuhan Institute of Virology, a military-linked biolab the U.S. government has identified as the likely source of COVID-19. 

When Parliament ordered those documents disclosed, the Trudeau government refused. Trudeau prorogued Parliament over it. “The Conservatives tried to make a complaint to the RCMP,” Sheila said, “who were not all that interested.”

Both hosts drew what Sheila called a conspiracy theory “rooted in fact” — that the Canadian government’s persistent deference to Beijing, in spite of repeated foreign interference scandals, may stem from the Chinese government knowing exactly what came out of that Winnipeg lab, and the Liberals knowing they know.

“Wouldn’t it be a bad look,” Sheila said, “to have allowed what might have been a precursor to COVID-19 to come out of a lab in Winnipeg, end up back in Wuhan, and then be unleashed upon the world?”

Tamara noted the prosecution also lands squarely in the middle of Mark Carney’s sweeping re-engagement with China, in which both nations have pledged that Canada will become a major exporter of energy to the Chinese market.

“Canada has a China problem,” she said. “A foreign interference problem with the Chinese.”

As ICAN Warned, RSV Vaccine for Pregnant Women May Pose Risks

Three years ago, ICAN sent a letter to members of FDA’s vaccine committee warning of the dangers of Pfizer’s RSV pregnancy vaccine, Abrysvo. A recent study supports ICAN’s position that those concerns were warranted.

In May of 2023, ICAN’s legal team sent a letter to the Vaccines and Related Biological Products Advisory Committee (VRBPAC), the FDA committee that makes recommendations on whether or not a new vaccine should be approved. In the letter, ICAN asked the committee to hold off on recommending the approval of Abrysvo until concerning safety signals from the clinical trials had been further investigated. The committee ignored ICAN’s warnings and, shortly after, FDA approved the vaccine.

ICAN’s letter highlighted the following concerns from the Abrysvo clinical trial: “In mothers, serious adverse events included prolonged labor, premature delivery, postpartum hemorrhage, arrested labor, and gestational hypertension, the most frequent of which were preeclampsia and fetal distress.”

A recent study shows safety signals for pregnancy-associated hypertensive disorders (including gestational hypertension), premature rupture of membranes (PROM), and preterm PROM, after receipt of the Abrysvo vaccine. In fact, even though this study was sponsored by Pfizer, the study authors couldn’t avoid stating that “[f]urther epidemiological studies are needed to refine risk estimates….”

Rhode Island Chooses Tax Hike Death Spiral

hode Island just enacted a tax increase that will chase the highest-earning households out of the state and ensure revenue shortfalls as long as it remains in place.

These millionaire taxes are an increasingly popular idea that benefits low-tax states while punishing everyone who remains stuck in high-tax ones.

Gov. Dan McKee on Friday signed a state budget that raises the tax rate on annual income above $1 million to 8.99 percent, up from the current 5.99 percent. That is a 50 percent tax hike on the state’s most successful people.

McKee, a Democrat, is up for reelection this year and is in a tough primary battle against wealthy opponent Helena Foulkes. That explains his support for a monster tax increase he opposed last year.

I am by no means convinced that all these governors and state legislators really believe that these tax hikes will raise additional money. Some dimwitted true believers certainly do imagine that people are so enamored of their current places of residence that they will accept anything as the price of remaining there. New York City mayor Zohran Mamdani, Los Angeles political boss Karen Bass, and Seattle chief executive Katie Wilson are apparently among these.

At a news conference early this month, Wilson “laughed off warnings of a millionaire exodus even as a new survey shows many business leaders are considering leaving the state,” the New York Post reported. “I still think that claims of a large exodus of rich people due to our statewide millionaire tax that the legislature passed this year are overblown,” Wilson told FOX 13 Seattle with a laugh.

Just a few days later, the Downtown Seattle Association issued a report stating the “JumpStart” business taxes Seattle passed in 2020 have resulted in the loss of 30,000 jobs, a near-quintupling of the downtown office vacancy rate to 32 percent, and a 21 percent decline in the value of office properties. As a result, “the taxable value of its office buildings has fallen 48% — even as Bellevue [Washington], which has no comparable tax, added jobs and saw commercial values rise 7%,” Geekwire reported.
