Kamala Harris teases potential 2028 platform: ‘I know this is going to be controversial’ 

Kamala Harris on Friday signaled she’d support abolishing the Electoral College and packing the Supreme Court – an indication that the former vice president has moved further to the left since her disastrous 2024 presidential campaign. 

“I know this is going to be controversial coming from me, in particular,” Harris said in remarks at the National Urban League Conference in Nashville, Tenn., before laying out part of her potential 2028 platform.  

“We need to revisit the Electoral College. We need to revisit the point of expanding the court, to 13 justices like we have 13 district courts. We need to revisit, if they so want, statehood for Puerto Rico and D.C.,” the former vice president argued. 

Abolishing the Electoral College – a plank on the Democratic Socialists of America platform – is not a position Harris held during her failed 2024 presidential campaign. Harris lost both the Electoral College and popular vote to President Trump that year. 

Similarly, Harris didn’t back court packing in 2024. The former vice president instead favored term limits and subjecting justices to a binding code of ethics.

Former transportation secretary Pete Buttigieg recently spoke to podcaster named Steve Bartlett and spent part of the time talking about new ways to tax people after lamenting that people keep finding ways to hide their wealth from the government.

This really is a window into the mind of a Democrat politician. This is the way they think. They fantasize about what they could do with your money.

The government already takes in trillions of dollars and a huge portion of it is stolen through fraud. Instead of trying to figure out how to spend that money more responsibly, they just think about ways to get more of it.

California Democrats Overwhelmingly Back Billionaire Tax Ahead of High-Stakes November Ballot

California’s proposed billionaire tax cleared a major political hurdle on Sunday after winning the endorsement of the California Democratic Party.

The endorsement provides fresh momentum to the initiative just months before voters decide the measure at the ballot box.

The proposal secured the 60 percent threshold required for the party’s endorsement during a meeting of hundreds of Democrat officials in San Diego.

The approval came despite fierce opposition from some of the state’s most prominent Democrats.

If endorsed by voters in November, the measure would impose a one-time 5 percent tax on Californians with a net worth of at least $1 billion, affecting roughly 200 of the state’s wealthiest residents.

The endorsement is a significant victory for supporters after months of infighting within the Democratic Party.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom and Democratic gubernatorial candidate Xavier Becerra have both publicly opposed the proposal, warning it could encourage wealthy taxpayers to leave the state.

The initiative was placed on the ballot by the Service Employees International Union United Healthcare Workers West (SEIU-UHW), which claims the tax will raise an estimated $100 billion.

The money will be primarily used to offset healthcare funding reductions enacted by the Trump administration.

“This endorsement puts to rest the idea that California Democrats are not united by the billionaire tax—they are,” said Dave Regan, president of SEIU-UHW.

The measure has drawn support from far-left Democrats, including Sen. Bernie Sanders and Rep. Ro Khanna, who argue California’s wealthiest residents should contribute more to fund healthcare programs.

Dems’ Open Border Policy Is A Form Of Hybrid Warfare—Against The American People

The invasion last week of the Spanish city of Ceuta by some 60,000 Moroccans, mostly young military-age men, was a useful demonstration of how mass migration and indeed entire populations can be weaponized and deployed in what amounts to hybrid warfare against sovereign nations.

In this particular case, the reason for the deployment likely has to do with the Moroccan state’s longstanding irredentist claims in North Africa, which include the coastal enclaves of Ceuta and Melilla—the plazas de soberanía along the North African coast that have belonged to Spain for more than four centuries but which Morocco has claimed since its independence in 1956.

My friend Joshua Treviño has a useful recap of the relevant history of this simmering conflict over at National Review, but the upshot is that “the Moroccan political project has from the start been focused on what it perceives to be the completion of its full territorial control over Africa’s northwestern corner.”

Whatever the eventual outcome of the invasion—and to be clear, what happened in Ceuta should be understood as such—Rabat’s motivations are at least comprehensible in classical geopolitical terms. The Moroccan state believes those territories belong to Morocco, and is willing to deploy coercive, if irregular, force to reclaim them. Spanish authorities have responded in kind, deploying the military and declaring that all 60,000 migrant invaders will be removed.

Insofar as the conflict here is fundamentally one of state versus state—over territorial claims, no less—the crisis in Ceuta has a decidedly 20th-century character about it. But the use of migrants as an invasion force is something new, and gives it a pointed relevance both to our century and our situation in America, where migrant invasions along our southern border are not primarily the work of a hostile foreign state, but of the Democrat Party.

The shocking reality is that the party responsible for orchestrating and encouraging the illegal border-crossing of some 12 million foreign nationals into the United States during the Biden administration was not the Mexican state, nor even the cartels that function as proxies for Mexico’s ruling Morena party. Yes, the cartels and their smuggling networks profited greatly from illegal immigration from 2021 to 2025. And yes, Mexican officialdom was scandalously complicit in the mass human trafficking operation that ensued during that period.

But the primary responsible party came from within our country, not outside it. If what we suffered was an invasion (and it was), then it was an invasion that relied for its success on treachery. The gates were not battered down, they were opened from the inside. The first day he was in office, President Biden rescinded via executive order nearly every border policy the first Trump administration had put in place. Those policies had reduced illegal border crossings to near-historic lows, as they have again done in Trump’s second term.

What ensued after Biden did this is well-known. Incentivized by explicit, official promises from the Biden administration that there would be no real enforcement of our immigration laws, that if you got into the country you would be allowed to stay, record numbers of foreigners from every corner of the globe rushed over our border. In some cases, the rush created the potential for a humanitarian crisis. In September 2021, for example, some 15,000 Haitians crossed the Rio Grande and set up a massive encampment under a bridge near Del Rio, Texas. The shocking images of the encampment captured by news media forced the Biden White House to take swift action to break up the camp. But that was merely to control the PR narrative, not to stem the steady onrush of migrants over the border.

It’s important to understand that these were not policy blunders by the Democrats. It’s not as if they didn’t know what would happen if they loosened or removed entirely Trump’s border controls. They knew full well, and did it on purpose. If what Morocco did in Ceuta could rightly be considered an act of war against Spain, the same could be said for what the Biden administration did to the American people from 2021 to 2025.

What makes it more disturbing than what happened last week in Ceuta is that the Democrats, unlike Rabat, were pursuing irredentist claims not on behalf of the their own people but on behalf of the global south. They effectively launched a foreign invasion of the United States, the ultimate object of which is to wrest control of the country from its native inhabitants by overwhelming the country with illegal immigrants.

Establishment Democrats warn socialist candidates could cost the party the midterms

As Democratic Socialist candidates and their candidacies are gaining steam, establishment Democrats connected to the Clinton and Obama administrations are sounding the alarm, warning that the rise of radicals is threatening the party’s chances of winning the upcoming midterms. 

“There is emerging evidence that Democrats are being harmed by perceptions that the party is drifting towards socialism,” wrote Douglas Schoen and Carly Cooperman, partners at the public opinion company Schoen Cooperman Research.

Schoen is a veteran of Democratic President Bill Clinton’s 1996 campaign as well as Hillary Clinton’s 2008 bid for the party’s presidential nomination.

Alarming to these Democrats is the fact that President Donald Trump’s low approval ratings have not translated into the expected polling advantage for Democratic candidates heading into the midterms in November, in which control of the House and Senate will be decided. 

Trump’s approval rating is underwater, hovering under 40% since May. However, in the most recent YouGov/Economist poll, in late July, Democrats outperformed Republicans by only 4 points. For comparison, Democrats consistently polled 7 to 13 points ahead of Republicans ahead of the 2018 blue wave election. 

Such a “narrow lead,” Schoen and Cooperman say, “suggests that heightened focus on the socialist-progressive candidates of late severely hurts Democrats’ ability to capitalize on widespread anti-Trump sentiment.”

New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani has become the face of the Democratic Socialist movement. Earlier this year, he clashed directly with the Democratic Party establishment in the city in order to remake its congressional delegation in his image. Mamdani backed three progressive socialist-aligned candidates who were successful in unseating incumbents or their establishment-backed opponents.

One of those winners, Darializa Avila Chevalier, who is a member of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), has drawn scrutiny over past social media posts expressing support for communism and Marxist ideology, including sympathy for Soviet figures. 

Democratic Socialists or their ideological allies have also surged in Colorado, Maine and Michigan. Schoen and Cooperman believe the party is “running bigger risks” by considering these candidates because it will fuel the Republican efforts to paint the Democratic Party more broadly as unpopular socialists. 

In Maine, scandal-ridden Graham Platner – who was closely tied to the Democratic Socialist infrastructure of Vermont Independent Sen. Bernie Sanders and Mayor Mamdani – had to drop out of the race. 

But, the state party chose Troy Jackson to replace him. Though not directly affiliated with the DSA, Jackson is backed by the organization and shares many of its policy goals. The DSA even endorsed Jackson for his earlier failed bid for governor.

In Michigan’s Democratic Senate primary Tuesday, the frontrunner is Abdul El-Sayed, who is backed by democratic socialist Sanders and New York Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Though not affiliated with the DSA, he also espouses policies similar to the organization’s goals.

To Schoen and Cooperman, an affiliation with the DSA is not necessary to hurt the Democratic Party.

“Republicans do not need every Democrat to be Democratic Socialists of America members to brand all Democrats as socialists. They simply need enough high-profile Democrats on the party’s left-wing fringe to make the caricature stick,” they said in a Monday op-ed published in The Hill.   

Making matters worse, DSA co-chair Megan Romer took to cable news on Sunday to fully embrace that “caricature.” 

In an interview with Fox News’ Shannon Bream, which circulated widely on social media, Romer publicly embraced the most radical DSA proposals for the country, including abolishing the Senate, the presidency, the Supreme Court, national borders, immigration enforcement, prisons and defunding the U.S. military.

Romer made clear she views the DSA as ascendant and the establishment Democrats as outdated. 

“We run on the Democratic ballot line where it makes sense,” she said. “We run independents sometimes where that is a viable possibility, but it’s a ballot line. What matters is what the voters think, and the voters are overwhelmingly choosing our candidates.” 

Beyond Schoen, other Democrats are raising the alarm about the growing influence of socialists in their party and warning that it could lead to disastrous consequences for the midterm elections as the party’s popularity continues to sag. 

This month, former Chicago Mayor, Obama Chief of Staff and Ambassador to Japan Rahm Emmanuel said that Democratic Socialist “Bernie Bros” could “spoil” the midterm elections for Democrats. 

“Ultimately, this is about policy. It was socialists who led the charge to defund the police, open the borders, abolish prisons, release violent criminals onto the streets and degrade the flag. We know those are electoral losers,” Emmanuel wrote last week.  

He argues that these positions often held by more radical candidates running in deep blue areas make it more difficult for Democratic candidates running in swing districts vital for winning the House.  

Republicans are jumping on the success of the DSA to associate Democrats with the organization’s policies. 

President Trump and the GOP have launched a campaign arguing the Democratic Party has been infiltrated with communist candidates as the November election nears, Just the News reported on Wednesday.

Abigail Spanberger Restores Voting Rights to 66,000 Virginians ‘with Past Felony Convictions’

Virginia Gov. Abigail Spanberger (D) announced that her administration has restored voting rights to more than 66,000 Virginians who have “past felony convictions.”

In a press release on Friday, Spanberger expressed that “the right to vote is foundational to who we are as Americans.” Spanberger added that as a gubernatorial candidate and since taking office she has “heard from many Virginians who have shared their personal stories of redemption with me.”

Per the press release, the civil rights restored by Spanberger also include “the right to vote, serve on a jury,” and to “run for public office”:

Virginia is one of three states with a constitution that permanently disenfranchises citizens with past felony convictions — leaving restoration of rights entirely to the Governor’s discretion. The civil rights restored by Governor Spanberger include the right to vote, serve on a jury, run for public office, and become a notary public.

“I’m proud that — after contending with my predecessor’s efforts to deny Virginians their fundamental rights — we have restored the rights of more than 66,000 Virginians who have served their time,” Spanberger said. “These Virginians deserve the right to use their vote, make their voices heard, and be recognized as contributing citizens to our Commonwealth and country.”

The press release comes as Virginia residents in the fall will be able to “vote in a referendum on a constitutional amendment that would allow” felons in Virginia to have their voting rights restored “upon their release from incarceration.”

Democrat Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur Hospitalized After Hit-and-Run Car Crash

Democrat Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur was hospitalized on Sunday after a hit-and-run car crash in Toledo, Ohio.

The 80-year-old Ohio lawmaker was on her way to church when a vehicle crashed into her car.

Rep. Kaptur, who was a passenger in the car at the time of the crash, is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

“Shameful and Desperate” – Maine Senate Candidate Troy Jackson Pushes Back But Doesn’t Deny Having Kids With Cousin

Democratic Maine Senate candidate Troy Jackson has broken his silence on reports that he married (co-mingled with) his second cousin and fathered children with her. 

Notably, there was no denial of the report. Instead, his campaign chalked it up as “Personal attacks on Troy’s family” as if there’s nothing wrong with marrying your own relative.

“Susan Collins will do anything to distract from the fact that she votes with Trump 96% of the time and has sold out working people in Maine. Personal attacks on Troy’s family are shameful and desperate,” the Jackson campaign said in a statement to Fox News.

As The Gateway Pundit reported, it was revealed that Jackson’s wife is actually his second cousin. The pair had two children together.

“Jackson, a 26-year politician and lobbyist, has made a career of bragging that he’s a is a fifth-generation logger, but you don’t have to go far back the generational line to find where it crosses paths with the ancestors of his significant other Lana M. Pelletier,” Maine Wire editor-in-chief Steve Robinson revealed.

“Jackson and Pelletier share the same great-grandparents: Thomas Pelletier and Edith Thibodeau. Thomas and Edith’s daughter Albertine was Troy’s grandmother; their son Louis Sr. was Lana’s grandfather. That makes Troy and Lana second cousins on the Pelletier line.”

Parents Who Starved Their 75-Day-Old Baby to Death Will Get No Jail Time After Guilty Plea – Guess Who the Judge Is

Two parents in New York state who pleaded guilty to starving their baby to death will receive no jail time after a guilty plea to second-degree manslaughter.

All thanks to a Democrat judge. What a surprise.

Court documents reveal that Londyn Gonzalez, a two-and-a-half month old baby, was found dead at an apartment in Cheektowaga, New York, after paramedics responded to a call for an unresponsive child on July 7, 2023, according to The Post Millennial.

While the baby was born at a healthy weight on April 20 of that year, during follow-up appointments, a medical provider said she was concerned about the baby’s inability to gain weight and told the parents to increase the amount of formula she was receiving.

While she was 6 pounds, 8 ounces at birth, she was only 8 pounds, 4 ounces at the time of her death.

Furthermore, her parents had skipped the last follow-up on May 8, just 30 days before her death — which officials ruled was due to malnutrition and dehydration. Her parents, Luis Gonzalez Jr., 26, and Kitrina Udrea, 23, both of Buffalo, were charged with manslaughter. The two pleaded guilty in May.

“The investigation determined that the defendants, while acting in concert with one another, recklessly caused the death of their infant daughter,” the Erie County, New York, district attorney’s office said in a media release.

Jasmine Crockett Criticizes Black People Who Voted for Trump: ‘Like, Really?’

Rep. Jasmine Crockett of Texas was recently giving remarks at an event for the National Urban League, where she told a story about a young black woman whose father may have voted for Trump.

It seems inconceivable to Crockett. Democrats always act mystified when black people vote Republican.

It’s also worth noting that this is a typical Crockett moment. She is just overflowing with undeserved self-confidence.

Soon-to-be former Democratic Rep. Jasmine Crockett (TX-30) has a huge problem with black people who don’t vote for her party.

During a recent panel discussion, Crockett recounted hearing from a young black woman who told her that her dad did not want to vote for former Vice President Kamala Harris. “He was like, ‘if I go vote, it’s going to be for Trump.’”

“And she asked him, and I asked, I said, ‘did he vote?’ She was like, ‘I don’t know. I don’t want to ask.’ But nevertheless, One of the things that she said was, ‘my dad said he could trust Trump.’ And I was like, ‘really?’ And so the reality is that that’s not the first time I’ve had that conversation,” Crockett continued.
