Buying Our Democracy — Meet the Billionaire Leftists Behind the Lawfare Chaos

A central premise in Breaking the Law, my just-released exposé on the weaponization of the legal system against President Trump and his supporters, is that an objective of lawfare is to buy our democracy.

The funders of the lawfare superstructure are waging a political battle against MAGA and on behalf of the institutional left. The “law” itself is disregarded. It’s all about politics. And they have learned that with relatively small amounts of cash — methodically allocated — they can remake America in their preferred image.

That is to say, as a society of leftism and chaos as opposed to conservatism and law and order.

The lawfare-istas have learned that seats in local elections are often available to the highest bidder. Meanwhile, they fund lawsuits against high-profile conservatives (namely Donald Trump).

Thanks to shadowy “dark money” nonprofits, it is impossible to know exactly who is funding every element of the lawfare apparatus, but here are some details from my research.

REID HOFFMAN

The Democrat megadonor Reid Hoffman bankrolled E. Jean Carroll’s defamation suit against President Trump. (I regard the case as farcical, as thoroughly documented in Breaking the Law.) Hoffman helped launch PayPal before cofounding LinkedIn in 2002 and is worth billions of dollars. He has also made big bucks from Facebook, Airbnb, and his venture capital firm, Greylock Partners.

He has funded a vast array of left-wing political activities ever since.

He hates Trump, saying he would “spend as much as I possibly can and it takes” to beat him — and he has, funding a vast array of left-wing political causes through shadowy “dark money” nonprofits.

Carroll, a columnist and comedy writer, was able to hire a crack legal team including Time’s Up Legal Defense Fund founder Roberta Kaplan. Kaplan was funded by a nonprofit primarily backed by Hoffman.

While the saga played out in one-sided NYC court rooms, Hoffman was making regular visits to Joe Biden’s White House.

LA’s secret celebrity tunnel was just a rumor. Until workers found it.

In its near-century of existence, Chateau Marmont — a faux French castle perched on a hill near the entrance of West Hollywood’s Sunset Strip — has kept countless secrets for the artists, actors and other icons that have stalked its halls. It has also held a few mysteries of its own, including a long-rumored secret tunnel.

Famously, the bohemian playground-slash-hotel doesn’t allow photos in its public spaces so that guests can unwind away from the outside world’s prying eyes. (Not that it’s ever stopped paparazzi from lurking on the sidewalk right outside.) As such, Chateau Marmont’s reputation as a comforting haven has made it a Hollywood favorite, with film director Billy Wilder once describing its appeal this way: “I would rather sleep in a bathroom than in another hotel.”

Every once in a while, though, fizzy tales do manage to trickle outside Chateau’s secretive walls, such as when Lindsay Lohan reportedly racked up a staggering $46,000 tab from her extensive stay there, or when Doors rocker Jim Morrison scaled the rooftops of the hotel’s bungalows late at night throughout the 1960s.

Election Fraud May Have Seated Indicted Democrat

Serious irregularities in the 2024 congressional election in Texas’s 28th district have raised significant concerns about the security and validity of the vote.

The district is already in the national spotlight because incumbent Congressman Henry Cuellar (D-TX), now in his eleventh term, faces a federal investigation over more than $600,000 in payments from foreign entities.

The central controversy, however, centers on the conduct of the vote count and compliance with Texas election law.

During the recount, one ballot box went missing for some time.

Under Texas law, a chain of custody breach is a serious violation that can be sufficient to void an election result. No explanation has been provided for the disappearance, and no action has been taken to determine why the box was removed or whether its contents were compromised.

Holder: ‘No Factual Basis’ for Trump Administrations Investigations into Dems

Former Attorney General Eric Holder said Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press” that there was “no factual basis” for the Trump administration’s investigations into high-profile Democrats.

Host Kristen Welker said, “President Trump has launched investigations into many of his perceived political foes, including former President Barack Obama and New York Attorney General Letitia James, Democratic Senator Adam Schiff. I’m naming just a few of the people you have described this as the, quote, weaponization of the Justice Department, which is, by the way, the same criticism President Trump has made about the DOJ under former President Biden. So let me ask you about that. How do you respond to the argument by President Trump that the Biden Justice Department started this?”

Holder said, “Well, I think that’s just totally inconsistent with the facts. There was a predicate for all of the things, a basis for the investigations, the moves that the Justice Department did. I, I would ask, you know, those who are in the Justice Department now, those were in the white House now because they are they are married. They’re joined at the hip in ways that we’ve not seen before, where the White House is essentially telling the Justice Department with what to do with regard to its investigatory power. What, in fact, is the predicate that you are looking at? What’s the basis for the investigation when you’re talking about Senator Schiff, Attorney General James? Certainly, it’s absurd, this notion of looking at President Obama with regard to the actions that he supposedly took. There’s simply no factual basis to these, to these investigations.”

California Moves Forward With Special Redistricting Election To Counter Texas’s Plan

California Gov. Gavin Newsom said on Friday that the state will move forward with a ballot measure in November to redraw its congressional map in response to a Republican-backed redistricting plan in Texas.

Speaking alongside state Democratic leaders, Newsom said they would call for a special election in the first week of November to vote on redrawing the congressional map, a move that could potentially add five more U.S. House seats to the Democratic tally.

“We are talking about emergency measures to respond to what’s happening in Texas, and we will nullify what happens in Texas,” the Democratic governor told reporters.

“We will pick up five seats with the consent of the people, and that’s the difference between the approach we’re taking and the approach they’re taking. We’re doing it [on a] temporary basis,” he added.

Newsom also reaffirmed that the state will remain committed to its independent redistricting process. The Democrats said they expected to have a newly agreed-upon map, based on previous plans reviewed by the state’s independent redistricting commission, ready for public scrutiny next week, three months before it would go to voters.

Former U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), who attended the conference, backed Newsom’s decision and praised Texas Democratic lawmakers for their efforts to block the GOP’s redistricting plan.

“It’s not wrong in what we’re doing. This is self-defense for our democracy,” Pelosi said. “I thank again our Texans for their leadership, for their courage, and most of all, for their patriotism.”

Drag Queen Show for Kids Advocacy Group Cancelled After Community Backlash

Local complaints have prompted a child-focused charity in New York to ditch a drag event for kids set for next Sunday – and its cancelled drag queen host is not happy.

The Child Advocacy Center of Greater Rochester, a nonprofit “dedicated to giving children a voice and putting an end to abuse,” announced last week it would not hold its “all-ages,” “drag bingo” fundraiser.

Its scheduled cohost, drag queen “Mrs. Kasha Davis,” in reality a man named Ed Popil, took to a Rochester news station and said the cancellation was giving into “hate.”

Popil described his comments in a phone call to Mary Whittier, the charity’s chief executive officer, when she informed him the event was off.

He told the ABC affiliate, WHAM:

I said on that call, well, then we’re letting hate win. Because pretty much on a daily basis, unfortunately, as a drag artist, as a performer, especially when I do story hour, and most recently I was at a Pride festival, and I brought the kids up and we’re dancing, and then when you look at the comments, the hateful, negative, angry comments were plentiful.

Even after the cancellation, which included a formal, obsequious statement by the nonprofit that apologized to “our LGBTQ+ partners, allies, and supporters,” critics continued to pounce.

“Inclusion of LGBTQ should have NOTHING to do with a non profit whose ‘supposed’ mission is to advocate for our communities most traumatized youth. NOTHING!!,” a New Yorker named Michele Fischette wrote on the group’s Facebook page. “Why is this even a thing? Wildly inappropriate…”

The Debt And Deficit Problem Isn’t What You Think

In recent months, much debate has been about rising debt and increasing deficit levels in the U.S. For example, here is a recent headline from CNBC…

The article’s author suggests that U.S. federal deficits are ballooning, with spending surging due to the combined impact of tax cuts, expansive stimulus, and entitlement expenditures. Of course, with institutions like Yale, Wharton, and the CBO warning that this trend has pushed interest costs to new heights, now exceeding defense outlays, concerns about domestic solvency are rising. Even prominent figures in the media, from Larry Summers to Ray Dalio, argue that drastic action is urgently needed, otherwise another “financial crisis” is imminent.

The problem with Larry Summers’, Ray Dalio’s, and many others’ warnings of impending financial doom is that they have been warning of that very problem for decades. Such was the point of our previous discussion:

“It doesn’t take much to understand that Ray Dalio, a hedge fund titan, is like every other human being and is prone to error. I will not dismiss Dalio entirely, as his track record of managing money at Bridgewater is nothing to be scoffed at. However, his track record is far less enviable regarding debt crisis predictions. Here is a brief timeline.”

  • March 2015 – Hedge Funder Dalio Thinks the Fed Can Repeat 1937 All Over Again
  • January 2016 – The 75-Year Debt Supercycle Is Coming To An End
  • September 2018 – Ray Dalio Says The Economy Looks Like 1937 And A Downturn Is Coming In About Two Years
  • January 2019 – Ray Dalio Sees Significant Risk Of A US Recession
  • October 2022 – Dalio Warns Of Perfect Storm For The Economy (That was also the stock market low.)
  • September 2023 – Dalio Says The US Is Going To Have A Debt Crisis

ICE Arrests Guatemalan Illegal Alien Released by RI Cops After Charged with Sex Crimes Against Children

Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents arrested a Guatemalan Illegal Alien in Rhode Island one day after local police released him. The illegal alien “got away” was charged with paying to have sex with a minor and released on bond despite his status.

ICE Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) special agents arrested Josue Santiago Perez Gomez, 29, one day after a Rhode Island judge released the Guatemalan national on bond. Officials say Perez Gomez, who entered the U.S. illegally at an unknown time and place, was released on bond after being charged with patronizing a minor for commercial sex, indecent solicitation of a child, and procurement of sexual conduct for a fee. Agents re-arrested the alleged child predator on July 12.

This week, Fox News reporter Bill Melugin published a statement from ICE Boston Field Office Director Patricia Hyde regarding the incident. The director wrote:

Josue Santiago Perez-Gomez stands accused of some disgusting and disturbing crimes and represents a clear threat to the children of our Rhode Island communities. Releasing an alleged child sex offender the very day of his arrest begs the question, what is the point of arresting him at all? Luckily, the brave men and women of ICE were able to remove this criminal alien pedophile from our streets where local authorities allowed him to potentially reoffend.

DOJ Launches Grand Jury Investigation into Letitia James’ Prosecution Of Trump

The Department of Justice has launched two new investigations into New York Attorney General Letitia James and her office over her allegedly malicious targeting of political enemies.

The U.S. attorney in Albany, Daniel Hanlon, issued two subpoenas to James, the first one related to her office’s civil fraud case against President Trump, the New York Times reported.

The Justice Department reportedly believes her prosecution of Trump violated his Constitutional rights.

The second subpoena is related to her office’s long-running effort to dissolve the National Rifle Association (NRA), according to the Times.

Attorney General Pam Bondi has signed off on the probes, and a there is a grand jury underway in New York’s state capital Albany, Fox News reported Friday.

“The DOJ Is going after James because she took then former president Donald Trump to court ‘simply because she didn’t like him and campaigned on getting him,’” Fox reported. The Justice Department reportedly believes James violated Trump’s First Amendment rights dealing with free speech.

James had accused Trump of inflating his net worth to get a good deal on loans and other financial benefits.

Trump-hating Judge Engoron ruled in her favor and ordered the Trump Organization to pay a $454 million bond, prompting George Washington University law Professor Jonathan Turley to call it “absurdly out of line with not just the purpose of the law but the facts of the case.”

A New York Appeals Court later reduced Trump’s bond to $175 million, which he paid on March 31, 2024.

Trump fumed against Engoron and James on Truth Social after he paid the bond.

“He is a whacked out nut job who just made up a number out of thin air, just like he did on the value of Mar-a-Lago,” Trump said.

“Businesses won’t enter New York because of this decision, and many are fleeing. Think of it – I had to pay an enormous sum for the right to Appeal the ridiculous decision of a CROOKED Judge and A.G. This is Election Interference, and it all comes directly from Joe Biden and the White House. An attack, along with ALL OF THE OTHERS, on his political opponent, ME!”

After the 2024 election, James refused to drop the case, reasoning that presidents are not protected by immunity in civil cases.

UK Announces Plans for Immediate Deportation of Migrant Criminals

British Justice Secretary Shabana Mahmood announced plans to pass legislation allowing for the immediate deportation of foreign criminals from the United Kingdom.

Amid increasing anger over the ramifications of the mass migration agenda imposed on the country by both Westminster establishment parties, the left-wing Labour government said on Saturday that part of its “Plan for Change” will see migrant criminals deported and barred from return rather than allowing them to serve their sentences in Britain.

The planned legislation would potentially mean that foreign convicts could avoid jail time altogether if their country of origin refuses to enforce the sentence handed down by a UK court, the BBC noted.

While most foreign convicts would become immediately eligible for deportation — down from the current standard of having served at least half their sentence in a British jail, murderers, terrorists, and anyone else deemed to pose a national security threat would not be eligible for removal until they served their full term behind bars in the UK.

At present, around 12 per cent of Britain’s prison population is comprised of foreign offenders, or over 10,000 migrants. According to the government, each prisoner costs the taxpayer an average of £54,000 per year.

In addition to alleviating costs, the move would potentially free up badly needed space in the nation’s prisons, which have been running at near capacity for years.

Indeed, during last summer’s anti-mass migration riots and protests in the wake of the Southport mass stabbing, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer’s government controversially released prisoners early to make space for those convicted in connection to the riots, including some who merely made posts on social media.
