Academia Embarrasses Itself… Again

Over at Twitchy, a publication that curates the news in funny yet insightful ways, a headline reads, “Head of Medical School Tells Congresswoman the Vast Majority of Pregnancies Occur in Women.”  Sure enough, Twitchy is telling the truth.

During witness testimony before a congressional committee examining the impact of forced “diversity,” preferential (non-merit-based) admissions, and “woke” ideology upon the quality of medical schools, the chancellor of UC San Francisco testified under oath that not all pregnancies come from women.  That chancellor, Samuel Hawgood, is not some administrative bureaucrat with a made-up bachelor’s degree in the discriminatory effects of man-made “climate change” upon “transgender” Pakistanis (and an obligatory master’s in why American taxpayers must foot the bill for all “sex change” surgeries around the world).  No, Hawgood is an actual pediatrician who previously served as UCSF’s dean of the School of Medicine.  A man who did his residency at the Royal Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Brisbane cannot tell us how babies are made.

It is astounding to watch just how far down the propaganda rabbit hole so-called “institutions of higher learning” have dragged society.  Until very recently, this kind of public display of sophistry would have embarrassed an intellectual of the lowest order.  For a medical doctor and university chancellor to pretend that men can get pregnant is a flashing neon sign warning just how corrupt and dishonest all of academia has become.  These days, university leaders sound indistinguishable from North Korean spokespeople assuring starving citizens that they are better off than anyone else in the world.

How did we get to this point in time when professors tell rank lies to the American people, while hiding behind their titles as false evidence that those lies are somehow “truths”?  Well, social media favorite “Oilfield Rando” points to part of the problem.  In an X post responding to the doctor’s pseudoscientific testimony, Rando includes an itemization of Chancellor Hawgood’s university pay and accompanying benefits.  The man in charge of one of the country’s top educational institutions takes home well over a million dollars each year.  Unless Chancellor Hawgood is a moron who genuinely believes men can get pregnant, it is likely that he is willing to sell his intellectual reputation and personal honor for a seven-figure salary.

What does that say about the current state of our society?  The modern university arose from Christian monasteries dedicated to God’s truth.  This is why divinity degrees are generally accorded highest honor during processions accompanying graduation ceremonies.  As monasteries developed into secular institutions of higher learning, they remained places dedicated to the pursuit of truth.  Harvard’s motto, veritas, simply means “truth.”

For hundreds of years, faculty members did not take positions on college campuses because they sought fame or fortune.  They became scholars and professors because they were dedicated to the rigors of their calling.  Just as a Christian monk lived in poverty because the pursuit of truth provided spiritual nourishment and personal fulfillment, a scholar embraced a penurious life within academia in exchange for the privilege of seeking authentic truth.  The reward — unvarnished enlightenment — was understood to be more valuable than money.

Microsoft Word’s Woke New Feature Will Help You Always Be Inclusive Of ‘Every Gender’

Microsoft Word introduced a new “inclusiveness” feature to look for supposed bias in documents — including language it deems not representative of “all genders.”

Clarity, formality, conciseness and now inclusiveness are all categories of “refinements” Microsoft offers under the editing tool on Word. The woke tool suggests changes to make word choice “inclusive of all genders,” like changing “chairman” to “chairperson” and “mankind” to “humankind” or “humanity,” among many others, as a Consumers’ Research video shows. 

Microsoft did not immediately respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment.

“It’s hardly surprising that Microsoft has an ‘inclusiveness editor’ for Word documents so that users are forced to comply with woke madness. Suggesting users change common words like ‘mankind’ and ‘firemen’ to be more gender-neutral is not a true grammatical error; it is a targeted ideological tactic to remove the very notion of gender from society,” Will Hild, executive director of Consumers’ Research said in a statement to the DCNF.

This adds to Microsoft’ efforts to support woke ideology, which include donating money to “groups promoting gender ideology on kids” and offering a library of videos to train people on being inclusive, according to Consumers’ Research.

The company’s innovation has come from its “commitment to [d]iversity and [i]nclusion,” Lindsay-Rae McIntyre, Microsoft’s Chief Diversity Officer and Corporate Vice President of Talent and Learning, said in Microsoft’s 2024 Global Diversity and Inclusion Report.

Netflix Sparks Anger After Social Media Users Notice the Company’s Disgusting Summary of All-Time Classic Film “Gone with the Wind”

Netflix has sparked a national uproar after using its website to trash “Gone With The Wind,” which is universally regarded as one of the greatest movies ever made.

As TGP readers know, “Gone with the Wind” is a 1939 epic historical romantic film set during the 1800s. The movie showcases the ups and downs of Scarlett O’Hara’s life, played by Vivien Leigh, in the years leading up to, during, and after the American Civil War.

“Gone with the Wind” won eight Academy Awards, including Best Picture. It is also the highest-grossing film of all time when adjusted for inflation.

But instead of highlighting the impeccable acting, vision, and writing that have made “Gone With The Wind” an enduring masterpiece, Netflix whipped out the race card in its summary of the film.

“A 1939 Civil War epic known for its racism,” the description reads. “To read more about Black lives in America, search ‘Black Lives Matter.”

While “Gone With The Wind” is currently unavailable to stream on Netflix in the United States, the above summary is very much real.

Politically Correct Crime Reporting and the British Grooming Gangs’ Migrant Connection

On June 22, 2026, three brothers, Amar, Kamar, and Kamran Ilyas, of Sheffield, were sentenced to a combined 40 years in prison for the rape and sexual abuse of five girls between 2004 and 2008, when the victims were as young as 12. One victim was abused by all three brothers. Amar Ilyas, who fled to Pakistan while on bail and was sentenced in absentia, was convicted of 20 offences against the five victims.

The case was not officially described as a grooming gang by prosecutors or investigators, although it shared several characteristics with cases that carry that label. It involved multiple offenders acting against multiple underage victims over a prolonged period, repeated sexual exploitation, and familial coordination, with one victim abused by all three brothers. The perpetrators were Pakistani, the ethnicity most commonly associated with such cases.

Grooming gang crimes typically involve children coerced or deceived into sex through gifts, alcohol, drugs, or a claimed relationship, and then passed to other men for further abuse. Other ethnicities associated with these cases include Iraqi, Bangladeshi, Indian, Iranian, and Turkish.

Political correctness has enabled these gangs because the police and the liberal media are avoiding attributing the crimes to migrants or Pakistanis. In fact, many on the left claim that the grooming gangs are a right-wing conspiracy theory or that most of the perpetrators are white.

However, the 2018 Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, case illustrates how British authorities have prevented the public from learning that most of the defendants were Pakistani. In October 2018, 20 men were convicted of more than 120 offences against 15 girls as young as 11, committed over a seven-year period from 2004 to 2011.

Ringleader Amere Singh Dhaliwal was sentenced to life in prison with a minimum term of 18 years, while the other sentences ranged from five to 18 years. The court heard that many perpetrators in the case were never identified.

Man jailed in Northern Ireland for burning fake mosque in bonfire

Bonfire season in Northern Ireland is a centuries-old tradition. Enormous towers of wooden pallets, decorated with the symbols of whoever you oppose, lit on fire at night. Catholics burn Union Jacks and pictures of the King. Protestants burn Irish tricolours. Politicians, royals, and foreign flags all get their turn.

Jewish symbols have appeared on bonfires. So have Israeli flags. It is, Ezra Levant noted on Monday’s episode of The Ezra Levant Show, essentially a free-speech zone that has existed for hundreds of years.

This year, a bonfire in Moygashel, County Tyrone displayed a replica mosque. The words on it read: “Secure our borders. End the threat of radical Islam.” The Arabic lettering, Ezra noted, referenced fascism — a deliberate attempt to distinguish radical Islam from the broader religion.

The man who built it is now in jail.

Brian Conrad Neil, 56, was arrested, refused bail, and appeared in the dock of Dungannon Magistrates’ Court in handcuffs. He has been charged with incitement to hatred. District Judge Barney McElholm declared that those who placed the replica mosque on the bonfire had “an agenda full of hate and bigotry towards others.”

The bail refusal was particularly striking to Ezra.

“Everyone gets bail, especially in Ireland,” he said. “Accused murderers sometimes get bail — but not a lad who put a fake mosque on a bonfire.” The two reasons to deny bail, he noted, are flight risk and ongoing danger to the community. Neither applies to a man who built a parade float.

The double standard is hard to miss.

Renowned Feminist Historian Loses Professorship as Experts Tear Apart Her So-Called Historical Findings

A black feminist historian whose work is being labeled as misleading — and who may have lost her cushy academic job — says it all comes down to an attack on black women.

The New York Times tells the tale of Kerri Greenidge, whose 2022 book “The Grimkes” was hailed for its narrative about a slaveholding family and its work in the abolitionist movement.

Publishers Weekly put the book on its list of that year’s top books, while the American Historical Association handed Greenidge the Joan Kelly Memorial Prize, which honors scholars in women’s history and feminist theory.

But the glow has dimmed as the furor over her flimsy factual foundation is being linked to the end of her gig as a tenured associate professor in the Department of Studies in Race, Colonialism, and Diaspora at Tufts University — and the loss of a book deal.

Myra Glenn, a retired professor of American history at Elmira College, was among the first to question what she was reading in 2024 when she was reviewing the book for a journal.

“I said, ‘Where is she getting this?’” she said. “Boy, it became a major problem.”

Therapists Publish Article Claiming Woke Ideology in Psychology is Making Leftists Even Crazier

Two therapists have just published an academic article claiming that woke ideology in psychology is damaging the field and the minds of leftists.

In their writing, the two actually acknowledge that progressives have ‘poorer’ mental health than people on the right, something conservatives have known for years.

They suggest that the integration of wokeness with their field has worsened the problem.

Therapists warn: ‘Woke’ ideology undermining cognitive-behavioral therapy

A new scholarly article describes the mechanisms of how leftist ideology has likely led to a worsening of mental health counseling and classroom curriculum on the subject.

Arnold Cantú and Nathan Gallo are the two social work professionals who authored the article in the latest special Issue of Current Opinion in Psychology.

In it, they attempt to provide “an alternative explanation for potential causes behind the rise in psychiatric diagnoses and poorer mental health outcomes for people who identify as liberal or left-leaning in the United States.”

“Research regularly suggests that left-leaning people have poorer mental health than conservatives,” the two said in an emailed statement to The College Fix, adding it’s a “notable finding that has become increasingly applicable to the younger generation.”

“This article argues that woke ideology—what we refer to as critical social justice ideology—has warped a well-established psychotherapy approach often used to treat various kinds of psychological distress, known as cognitive-behavioral therapy,” they added.

“This ideology’s main tenets are full of ‘cognitive distortions,’ which are faulty, automatic patterns of thinking that CBT attempts to treat. Instead, woke ideology intentionally promotes these patterns, resulting in poorer mental health for clients, families, and therapists who buy into it.”

The Democrat Party’s History of Race-Based Policies: From Slavery to the KKK to DEI

On a daily basis, Democrats refer to Republicans as racists, Nazis, and fascists. Meanwhile, they push for DEI, affirmative action, and race-based admissions, hiring, and promotions, which are objectively racist policies.

Republicans are characterized as racists because they want all laws to apply equally to everyone, with no preference given to any race, while Democrats not only have a long history of race-based policies but were also the founders of the KKK. The Republican Party, meanwhile, was formed largely by abolitionists, specifically to stop the expansion of slavery.

Abraham Lincoln was the first Republican president, elected in 1860 as the candidate of a party founded in 1854 primarily in opposition to the extension of slavery into new territories. Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation in January 1863, presided over the Union victory in the Civil War, and was assassinated in April 1865, days after Lee’s surrender at Appomattox. Republican-controlled Congresses then passed the 13th Amendment abolishing slavery in 1865, the 14th Amendment establishing citizenship and equal protection in 1868, and the 15th Amendment guaranteeing voting rights regardless of race in 1870.

The Democratic Party went in the opposite direction by restricting voting rights and attempting to disenfranchise Black people. That campaign ran from the 1890s through the passage of the Voting Rights Act in 1965.

After the Populist Party was defeated in the 1890s, Democrats amended state constitutions to include poll taxes and other disfranchising measures. Because payment of the tax was required to vote, impoverished Black people, and often poor whites who could not afford it, were denied the right to vote.

Democratic-controlled state legislatures across the South also imposed literacy tests, grandfather clauses, and whites-only primaries between 1895 and 1910 to exclude Black voters while exempting whites.

One tactic that has entered the historical memory of this era, and was later mentioned by Barack Obama at Congressman John Lewis’s funeral, was the so-called jelly bean test. Registrars asked Black applicants to guess the number of jelly beans in a jar. Alabama voter Theresa Burroughs recounted being asked exactly this by the Hale County Board of Registrars in the late 1940s. According to NPR’s account, it was one of the tactics used to delay her voter registration by two years.

Outrage after woke NYC mayor publishes map of ethnic neighborhoods that ERASES iconic Little Italy and much-loved ‘Little Ireland’

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani has ignited a firestorm after releasing a map of immigrant enclaves that excluded the city’s Little Italy and historic Little Ireland neighborhoods.

The democratic socialist’s office unveiled a map identifying 30 immigrant enclaves across the Big Apple’s five boroughs, including Koreatown, Little Palestine in Brooklyn, Little Bangladesh in Queens and Little Africa in Staten Island. 

Little Italy, the iconic stretch around Mulberry Street and long considered one of Manhattan’s most recognizable neighborhoods, was missing from the design.

Furious replies followed, with one X comment reading: ‘This aggression will not stand, man. New York isn’t New York without the Italian heritage that brought it to life and BUILT IT.’

‘Pissing off the Italians in New York may just be the dumbest thing he’s done yet,’ another said.

A third critic wrote: ‘Has he not seen The Sopranos? What the hell is he thinking?’ 

Also absent was Little Ireland, the tiny Irish enclave spanning across Woodlawn and Yonkers, where Gaelic football jerseys are as much a part of daily life as Yankees caps.

‘The Irish also built it. Just saying. Mamdani is scum,’ one comment added.

The map, reportedly released in May and sourced from the New York City Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs, pinpoints three dozen immigrant neighborhoods and the subway lines serving each one, according to JNS News.

A City Hall spokesman told the New York Post that it was designed to help tourists explore the Big Apple’s vibrant cultural communities, but acknowledged it was not a complete list of ‘all the rich diversity across the city.’ 

But the map was thrust back into the spotlight Wednesday after writer Avital Chizhik-Goldschmidt resurfaced it on X.

‘The Mayor’s Office made a map of NYC’s immigrant enclaves: Little Africa, Little Poland, Little Palestine,’ Chizhik-Goldschmidt wrote.

‘But they just couldn’t figure out how to represent 11 percent of the city,’ she added. ‘Couldn’t decipher where the Jews are from.’

‘Huge riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma.’

Italian-Americans slammed Mamdani for leaving out the city’s ‘original Little,’ where generations of Italian immigrants first put down roots in the late 19th century. 

At its peak, the community housed about 10,000 Italian immigrants escaping severe poverty, failed crops and natural disasters – the majority coming from Southern Italy and Sicily.

Appeals Court Blocks Trump Administration from Firing 19 Intelligence Officials Assigned to DEI Jobs

A federal appeals court on Thursday blocked the Trump Administration from firing 19 intelligence officers assigned to DEI jobs.

The Virginia-based Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals upheld a district court judge’s injunction requiring the intelligence agencies to provide the officials with an opportunity to be reassigned.

A group of anonymous intelligence officers, who had been temporarily reassigned to roles implementing controversial Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) programs, previously filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) and the CIA.

The lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, names ODNI, the CIA, and leadership — Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard and CIA Director John Ratcliffe—as defendants.

The plaintiffs, identified as “John Does 1-6” and “Jane Does 1-5,” claim they were unfairly targeted simply for their prior assignments to DEIA programs.

US Circuit Judge Nicole Berner, a Biden appointee, wrote the majority opinion.

Judge Berner said the CIA officials who were fired were deprived of due process.
