Bob Saget’s family files lawsuit to block release of records from his death investigation

The family of Bob Saget has filed a lawsuit to block the release of records from the investigation of his sudden death, court documents show.

The comedian and actor, who was most famous for his role as Danny Tanner in the sitcom “Full House,” was found dead in his Florida hotel room on Jan. 9, authorities said. Saget, 65, died from head trauma, his family said last week. The chief medical examiner for Orange and Osceola counties said that the manner of death was an accident.

On Tuesday, Saget’s wife, Kelly Rizzo, and three daughters filed a lawsuit against the medical examiner’s office and the Orange County sheriff seeking injunctive relief to prevent the release of any records — including photographs, video and audio recordings, and “statutorily protected autopsy information” — related to his death.

Medical Experts Weigh in on Bob Saget’s Cause of Death

Several medical experts weighed in on an autopsy report that was released describing actor Bob Saget’s cause of death, with several saying that details about his death are perplexing.

Saget, 65, was found dead in an Orlando, Florida, hotel room last month, and this week, Orange County Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Joshua D. Stephany said he died of blunt head trauma.

“It is the most probable that the decedent suffered an unwitnessed fall backwards and struck the posterior aspect of his head. The manner of death is accident,” the report said. His family earlier said that he hit his head and decided to sleep it off before he was found dead.

But Dr. Jeffrey Bazarian, an emergency physician and concussion expert at the University of Rochester Medical Center said that such an extensive injury that was described in the report would not have likely been ignored by Saget, formerly a star of “Full House” and “America’s Funniest Home Videos.”

“It’s like an egg cracking,” he told the New York Times. “You hit it in one spot, and it can crack from the back to the front.” The injury, Dr. Bazarian said, would have left him confused or possibly unconscious.

“I doubt he was lucid,” Dr. Bazarian added, “and doubt he thought, ‘I’m just going to sleep this off.’”

An autopsy report that was released alongside Stephany’s statement said Saget had posterior scalp abrasions, subgaleal hemorrhage (blood that forms between the scalp and skull), discoloration of the eyelids due to the fracture, subdural hematoma (a buildup of blood on the surface of the brain), and subarachnoid hemorrhage (bleeding in the space that surrounds the brain).

Another expert, Dr. Gavin Britz, the chair in neurosurgery at Houston Methodist, also appeared to question the autopsy report’s findings.

“This is significant trauma,” Britz told the NY Times. “This is something I find with someone with a baseball bat to the head, or who has fallen from 20 or 30 feet.”

In making reference to the report showing that Saget had fractures to the bones in the eye socket, known as the orbital bones, Britz said that “if you fracture your orbit, you have significant pain.”

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office previously said there were no signs of foul play. The autopsy report said Saget had COVID-19 and also noted there were signs of Klonopin, a commonly used benzodiazepine, and Trazodone, an antidepressant, in his system. No illegal drugs were detected.

Questions Being Raised About the Severe Head Trauma in Bob Saget’s Death

Bob Saget’s death in January was a very tragic thing, especially for someone who was still relatively young, was beloved by so many people, and who had contributed so much to the entertainment industry.

But now, there are folks raising questions about the serious head trauma he suffered.

His death was attributed to head trauma in an autopsy report released on Thursday, and it was assessed to be an accident, i.e. maybe he fell and then went to sleep, and then died.

Now, the description of the head trauma is much more extensive than initially suggested, according to the NY Times. He had multiple fractures in multiple areas on his head, both the front and the back.

Some neurosurgeons said that it would be unusual for a typical fall to cause Mr. Saget’s set of fractures — to the back, the right side, and the front of his skull. Those doctors said that the injuries appeared more reminiscent of ones suffered by people who fall from a considerable height or get thrown from their seat in a car crash.

The autopsy, though, found no injuries to other parts of Mr. Saget’s body, as would be expected in a lengthier fall. The medical examiner ruled that the death was accidental. The local sheriff’s office had previously said there were no signs of foul play.

While I don’t often have a lot of respect for Dr. Sanjay Gupta, he is a neurosurgeon and his description here of the injuries is accurate.

Yahoo News reports:According to the Post, Morissette doesn’t name the alleged abusers in the film, but she faults the music industry for ignoring her when she tried to speak up. “I did tell a few people and it kind of fell on deaf ears,” she said. “It would usually be a stand-up, walk-out-of-the-room moment.” She also reportedly says that she frequently experienced unwanted sexual advances.

Actor suspected of taking part in Capitol riot arrested in Burbank

An actor accused of being in the mob that stormed the U.S. Capitol in January and explicitly addressing House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on camera identified himself to a crowd on his way out of the restricted building, allowing investigators to track him down and arrest him in Burbank, federal officials said Friday, Aug. 13.

Michael Aaron Carico, 33, was taken into custody by federal agents on Wednesday, Aug. 11, according to a warrant issued for his arrest. He was seen in numerous photos and videos captured during the Jan. 6 riot in Washington D.C. states a criminal complaint filed in July.

Carico was wearing a camo pattern shirt and dark green baseball cap with the word “NAVY” written in black while holding a camera and standing in the Capitol Rotunda in images released by the Department of Justice. He was also seen climbing a media tower installed outside of the building ahead of the Jan. 20 inauguration ceremony.

SICK: Lorne Michaels, Jimmy Fallon Mentioned in Child Sexual Assault Lawsuit Against Ex-SNL Star Horatio Sanz

A new lawsuit filed on Thursday with the State of New York alleges horrifying and predatory actions of a former cast member at NBC’s Saturday Night Live against an underage girl — and the appearance of complicity among his associates. 

The unnamed plaintiff alleges that comedian Horatio Sanz “groomed” her, starting at the age of 15, and repeatedly sexually assaulted her after she attended multiple SNL cast parties. The allegations  include digital communications purported to be between Saenz and the teenager obtained by law enforcement.

According to court documents, the SNL “super-fan” teen would regularly post on a fan page that was read by SNL cast members which allowed Sanz to gain access to her. She was first contacted by Sanz, who was 31 at the time, in January 2000 via his work email account as he sat in NBC offices with Jimmy Fallon. By October of that year, he had lured her to meet him in person for the first time.

“In January, 2000, Defendant SANZ and co-cast member Jimmy Fallon emailed Plaintiff (then 15) from an NBC email account. Thereafter, Defendant SANZ began his process of grooming Plaintiff.

On or about October 7-8, 2000, Plaintiff (15) and Defendant SANZ met in person at NBC after an airing/taping of Saturday Night Live, during which SANZ (31) was flirtatious and physically affectionate with the then 15-year old Plaintiff by kissing her cheek and putting his hands on her waist. 

After a few more meet-ups, Sanz brought the plaintiff to several after-show parties where he and other staff members, who allegedly knew the girl was underage, allowed her to drink. His associates watched and said nothing as Saenz touched her inappropriately and told her “to sit on his lap,” according to the lawsuit.
