Abbott Orders Arrest of Fleeing Democrats After House Fails to Reach Quorum

Gov. Greg Abbott has ordered the arrest of Texas House Democrats who fled the state to block a Republican redistricting plan, calling their absence a “dereliction of duty.”

On Monday afternoon, the Texas House officially failed to reach the 100-member quorum required to conduct business, with only 90 members present. Members present quickly approved a “call of the House,” a procedural maneuver that authorizes the speaker to compel absent lawmakers to return, by civil arrest if necessary.

“Speaker Dustin Burrows just issued a call of the Texas House and issued warrants to compel members to return to the chamber,” Abbott said. “To ensure compliance, I ordered the Texas Department of Public Safety to locate, arrest, and return to the House chamber any member who has abandoned their duty to Texans.”

The call of the House allows the chamber to lock doors, restrict exits, and dispatch law enforcement to retrieve absent members—an escalation used when lawmakers intentionally break quorum. The House is expected to reconvene at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, August 5.

While arrests of members out of state are unlikely, Capitol sources indicate that several quorum-busting Democrats may be hiding in Texas.

In a floor speech Monday, Speaker Burrows condemned the quorum break, accusing Democrats of abandoning their posts under pressure from out-of-state activists.

“Leaving the state does not stop this House from doing its work—it only delays it,” said Burrows.

“I will do everything in my power to establish a quorum and move this body forward by any and all means available.”

Attorney General Ken Paxton also weighed in, releasing a statement calling the Democrats’ walkout a “cowardly desertion.” He warned that they must be “swiftly arrested, punished, and face the full force of the law.”

Boston Democrats Opened Housing to Illegals Who Can’t Pay the Rent

The state of Massachusetts resettled thousands of migrant families into apartments at the expense of $30,000 per family to the taxpayers, but now many of the migrants cannot afford to pay their rent.

Starting in 2023, the state began pushing migrants into apartment complexes as an adjunct to the state’s emergency assistance shelter program and at least 5,000 families have been the recipients of the program, according to the Boston Globe. But little thought seems to have been given to the sustainability of the housing.

The paper noted that many of the migrants have used up their $30,000 allotment before even being able to begin paying rent regularly on their own. The money went for moving, furniture, security deposits, and other living start-up costs. And for many migrants, that left them without enough time to gain legal employment that could allow them to afford rent payments.

The cash shortage sent many of the migrants to move right back out of their new apartments before they were able to stabilize their income. According to the program, the migrants are not required to pay the entirety of the rent on their own. The state’s HomeBASE program only requires them to fork over 30 percent of their income for rent with the rest being pulled from the program’s initial $30,000 stipend.

The problem is, many of these families have been unable to gain jobs that can bring in enough cash to make paying rent sustainable. That means their $30,000 allotment runs out quickly as the fund pays most if not all of the monthly rent fees. And soon enough, that $30,000 allotment is eaten up and the families have to move right back out of their apartments in a matter of only a few months.

State officials have hailed the HomeBASE program because they can use it to show that migrants have been moving out of the controversial free shelter system. Officials try to use that to show they are successfully putting migrants into jobs and homes. But the reality seems to be that the “homes” are short term, leaving many migrants out in the street when their $30,000 funding dries up.

Consumer Advocate: Dick Durbin, Roger Marshall Looking to Take Away Your Credit Card Rewards

Richard Hunt, the executive chairman of the Electronic Payments Coalition (EPC), said at a Breitbart News policy event last week that Sens. Dick Durbin (D-IL) and Roger Marshall (R-KY) are trying to take away your credit card rewards with their credit card legislation.

Hunt explained that the EPC represents a diverse group of organizations, including credit unions, community banks, large banks, and unions. He warned that two senators, Durbin and Marshall, are moving to take away credit card rewards, which many Americans use for cashback or even to pay for travel for vacation.

Marshall and Durbin have been pushing the Credit Card Competition Act (CCCA) for years. Hunt dubbed it the “Credit Card Cancellation Act,” noting that some large retailers have backed the bill.

Advocates for the bill believe that they can inject more competition into payment processing by requiring banks to work with at least one alternative payment network besides Visa and Mastercard, the dominant players in the industry.

Under the current system, if a merchant accepts credit cards, it is “locked in” to whatever payment network that credit card runs, usually Visa or Mastercard, and thus must pay whatever the fee that payment network charges for transactions.

Durbin and Marshall believe that by passing the bill, more competition among payment networks would drive down merchants’ credit card costs, and the retailers would pass on that savings to consumers. Critics of the bill contend that it would, in addition to compromising the security of payment processing, likely kill credit card reward programs, just as previous Dodd-Frank legislation eliminated debit card rewards.

Hunt told Breitbart New Economics Editor John Carney that Americans used to receive rewards on debit cards and used to get free checking accounts. However, this ended when Durbin managed to get the Durbin Amendment included in the post-2008 financial crisis financial bill known as Dodd-Frank.

Democrats Plan to Spend Tens of Millions of Dollars to Fund Hundreds of Content Creators

Democrats are planning to spend tens of millions of dollars to spin narratives on social media as part of a $110.5 million fundraising effort, according to images of slides from a Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) donor event obtained by Breitbart News.

Under a heading “Urgent Off-Year Funding Needs” on one slide, it states the DCCC looks to raise $10 million for social media and content creation, $20 million for “Accountability work,” $15 million for “Voter Registration,” $5 million for “Recruitment” and “Primary Engagement,” and $2 million for “Research” and a “Rapid Response Infrastructure.”

One goal is to enlist at least 667 content creators, with the aim of reaching 83 million Americans and drawing 6.6 million engagements, per another slide that focuses on content creation. The program aims to engage at least 167 “Non-Political Creators” and 8 “Vetted Creators for ads in every target state.”

Judicial Watch Uncovers FBI and DHS Docs Revealing Biden Regime Covered Up Counterintelligence Concerns Over Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz’s Ties to Communist China

Newly obtained documents by Judicial Watch from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and FBI reveal a disturbing and deliberate cover-up by the Biden administration of U.S. counterintelligence concerns regarding Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and his deep ties to Communist China.

The 47-page document dump, obtained through a March 2025 Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit, exposes that federal law enforcement and intelligence agencies flagged Walz as a major concern, and yet those warnings were hidden from the public just as he was being handpicked by the Biden-Harris campaign to join the 2024 ticket.

According to emails and chat logs from DHS’s “Nation-State Threat Bi-Weekly Sync” group, federal agents openly discussed how the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) had cultivated Walz as a long-term asset and saw his selection as Vice President as a major win for Beijing.

According to Judicial Watch:

A Homeland Security official whose name is redacted states: Walt’s got the Vp. You all have no idea how these feeds into what prc [People’s Republic of China] has been doing here with him and local gov. It’s seriously a line of the intel. Target someone who is perceived they can get to DC

Another official responds: “this speaks too to the rin [raw intelligence] you reviewed for us”.

A participant adds: “the perception narrative that has been pushed with one of the local ngos [non-governmental organizations] had direct ties to the former Gov here in Nevada. FBI has lead on a couple of things the only issue is being in the 9th circuit.”

A participant states: “Good to know and yes there involvement with HSI [Homeland Security Investigations] and fbi on things here”.

Another adds: “If anyone has interest I can give provide context in a classified setting.”

An official noted: “But this has more of strategic impact then obviously the general public knows”.

A day later, a BBC article reporting on Chinese internet users celebrating Walz’s past ties to China—specifically his time teaching in Guangdong in 1989, the year of the Tiananmen Square massacre—was shared in the DHS chat.

House Dem Leader Hakeem Jeffries Accuses Republicans of Trying to ‘Steal’ the 2026 Midterm Elections

The 2026 midterm elections are more than a year away from now, but Democrat House Leader Hakeem Jeffries is already accusing Republicans of trying to ‘steal’ the elections because of the redistricting efforts in Texas.

Democrat controlled states like California, Illinois and New York have been gerrymandered like crazy but that is different for some reason.

What this reveals is that Democrats are really worried about their chances in the midterms.

Breitbart News reports:

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) said Monday on MSNBC’s “Ana Cabrera Reports” that Republicans in Texas are attempting to steal the 2026 midterm elections with their redistricting effort.

Jeffries said, “The Texas governor is a cowardly fake bully. He was ordered by Donald Trump to convene a special session of the legislature in order to gerrymander the Texas congressional map and try to rig the midterm elections.”

He continued, “This is a cowardly move by Republicans in Texas. And I’m so appreciative of the courage, the character and the conviction being shown by Texas democrats from the legislature.”

Jeffries added, “Democrats are going to respond from coast to coast and at all points in between to this effort to steal the midterm elections.

Texas Democrats’ Walkout Over Redistricting Endangers Hemp Ban Legislation

Texas Democratic House lawmakers are leaving the state to prevent a vote on redrawing the state’s congressional district map in Republicans’ favor—a move that could lead to a stalemate on a Senate-passed bill to ban hemp products containing any THC.

The cannabis legislation moved through the Senate on Friday and is now in the House’s court. But without a quorum, the chamber won’t be able to conduct legislative business as Democratic lawmakers flock to other states such as Illinois and New York—a strategy that’s produced mixed results in the past.

Gov. Greg Abbott (R) has threatened to remove those legislators from the House if they fail to show back up, and he also said members who received any financial support to leave the state could be subject to prosecution for felony bribery violations.

But in any case, time is running short in the special session the governor convened to address a series of outstanding issues, including legislation related to hemp cannabinoid products. Abbott vetoed an earlier version of the controversial ban, and he recently outlined what he’d like to see in a revised version of the bill.

The special session started on July 21. Under the state constitution, special sessions cannot last longer than 30 days, meaning a quorum would need to be reestablished before August 20 if any bills are to move. Of course, nothing prevents the governor from calling another special session once that deadline passes.

“The path forward for legislation during this special session is unclear, including whether or not a THC ban could advance,” Heather Fazio, director of the advocacy group Texas Cannabis Policy Center, told Marijuana Moment on Monday.

“The status quo is certainly better than THC being banned outright, but we hope the legislature can sort through their differences and find a way to pass common sense regulations that restrict youth access, at minimum,” she said. “We are continuing our advocacy and working with those remain in the building to ensure they understand, the issue can make good decisions when the time comes. That could be later during this first special session or during the next one.”

Austin Zamhariri, executive director of Texas Cannabis Collective (TCC) said that “Texans have been fighting a total hemp consumable ban since it was announced by Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick (R) in December of last year.”

Democracy Dies in a Charter Jet: The Great Texas Walkout

Democracy Dies in a Motel 6: Texas Democrats Flee the Floor Again

Modern politics shares a particular irony that only it can deliver. In case Dems have forgotten how our system of government works, here’s a reminder. There are things called “elections,” where U.S. citizens vote for people to serve as their lawmakers, who then represent the people.

I know, it’s Civics 101, but it’s becoming a nasty habit for Democrats when they decide against serving democracy by fleeing—not rhetorically, but in a physical sense, packing their bags and crossing state lines to break a quorum.

Once again, Democrats in the great state of Texas are refusing to play a game they’ve lost at the ballot box. Rather than demonstrating integrity and character by accepting the election results, they are revealing their true colors by fleeing to prevent Republicans from passing a redrawn congressional map backed by President Donald Trump, which was expected to favor GOP candidates in at least five seats.

What the Democrats are doing isn’t new, bold, and it sure as hell isn’t noble. It’s political cowardice wrapped in just enough self-righteousness to impress only news readers and party donors.

Running From Responsibility, Again

In the state where this expression fits wonderfully, this ain’t their first rodeo. In 2003, redistricting. 2021, voting integrity. Now in 2025, the charter buses are fired up (EV buses?) and loaded as though they’re some sad cover band stuck on their only remotely famous song, “We Ran So We Wouldn’t Lose. Again.”

Their problem this time is a congressional map backed by Trump’s post-reelection push to solidify Republican control of the House ahead of the 2026 mid-term elections.

Revolution Camp: Unhinged White Liberals Spend Weekend Smashing Junk In Anti-Trump Fury

The permanent protest-industrial complex, bankrolled by dark-money leftist NGOs, was at it again Saturday, orchestrating yet another nationwide demonstration, this time branded “Rage Against the Regime,” targeting President Trump. As with previous actions, the protests were primarily attended by crazed, elderly white liberals. The Democrats and their NGO machine have lost not just the narrative but are drifting deeper into irrelevance.

50501 (“50 Protests, 50 States, 1 Movement”) is part of the permanent protest-industrial complex and was behind the underwhelming demonstrations this weekend. The group’s mission is to organize large-scale, nationwide color revolution-style operations against President Trump, including these previous events:

  • February 5: Anti-Trump kickoff rallies
  • February 17 (Presidents’ Day): “No Kings on Presidents Day”
  • March 4: Third round of demonstrations
  • April 5: “Hands Off” protests, among the largest anti-Trump protests
  • June 14: “No Kings”

Each of the nationwide protests listed above has failed to generate enough momentum to shift public opinion and move the polls. The dark-money-funded NGOs behind the permanent protest-industrial complex have grown increasingly frustrated; so much so that they reportedly offered $20 million to a ‘rent-a-protester’ firm.

Last month, Adam Swart, CEO of an activist group called “Crowds on Demand”, called out one unnamed leftist entity …

We had to reject an offer worth around $20 million for nationwide, large-scale demonstrations across the country. Personally, I don’t think it’s effective. I’m rejecting the contract not because I don’t want the business, but because, frankly, this is going to be ineffective and make us all look bad.”

“One of the more bizarre highlights of this past weekend’s failed protest operation was a 50501 staffer setting up what appeared to be a “smash room” for deranged white leftists in the parking lot of a retail center in Tim Walz’s state.

“After smashing a watermelon, one attendee screamed “REVOLUTION” stating that the experience was “cathartic” and left her shaking,” journalist Savanah Hernandez wrote on X.

Jasmine Crockett Sees Congress As The Side Hustle To Her Full-Time ‘Influencer’ Gig

When Democratic firebrand Jasmine Crockett agreed to be profiled by The Atlantic, she probably expected just another boot-licking puff piece that would add to her leftist street cred and fundraising numbers. What she got was a surprisingly balanced account of her background and meteoric rise in a collapsing political party, which is why she reportedly tried to spike the article.

Perhaps Crockett was incensed by the embarrassing anecdote that staff writer Elaine Godfrey related at the very beginning of the piece. During her quixotic effort to be named the leading Democrat on the House Oversight Committee last month, Crockett whined that she was “[feeling] a little used” by her colleagues. When Godfrey asked her about her failure to get the post, she said, “It’s like, there’s one clear person in the race that has the largest social-media following,” as if that explained why she should be handed power and responsibility on a plate.

Godfrey’s journalistic honesty has accidentally revealed an inconvenient truth about the new blood on the American left. Crockett and her ilk aren’t true public servants, but social media influencers who see representing the American people as a mere side hustle. This narcissistic approach to their duties makes them dangerous to the body politic.

A Lack of Substance

One of the more disturbing aspects of social media is how it grants unscrupulous users the ability to craft a false identity for themselves. For Crockett, this persona is the “tough black girl from the Dallas streets.” She regularly hurls viral insults at people such as Marjorie Taylor Greene, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, or Hispanics who voted for Donald Trump.

Though she wrongly characterizes these antics as “forthrightness,” Godfrey refuses to buy fully into Crockett’s charade. She reminds her readers that Crockett hails from St. Louis, where she attended a private high school before going to Rhodes College, a small liberal arts school in Tennessee. The closest Crockett ever got to life on city streets was a role in the musical “Little Shop of Horrors” in her college days.

Crockett credits her entry into law and then politics to an incident at Rhodes in which she and a few other black students received threatening and racist letters from an anonymous source. According to this tale, the black female attorney hired by the college to look into the matter became Crockett’s “shero” and inspiration. Oddly, Godfrey could not fully confirm any of these details; Crockett could not even remember the name of this “sheroic” attorney. All in all, this origin story sounds like a social justice warrior’s Instagram fantasy.

When it comes to Crockett’s policy goals, Godfrey is at a loss; apart from mentioning her law firm’s defense of Black Lives Matter demonstrators and a vague reference to her support for “criminal justice reform” while in the Texas state legislature, the reader gains no insight into what issues concern her or those she represents. Instead, we are treated to a description of her “unofficial leadership” of more than 50 Texas Democrats who fled their state to D.C. in 2021 in order to stymie legislation meant to tighten and clarify voting rules, a stunt that guaranteed Crockett a career on the national level while frustrating more moderate Democrats.

But Crockett clearly knows how to get clicks and likes. Godfrey explains, “On TikTok and Instagram … she monitors social-media engagement like a day trader checks her portfolio,” which is strange behavior for a legislator. The lack of substance behind Crockett’s style reveals that for her, government is not a sacred trust between her and her constituents, but a stage on which she can strut and receive applause.
