Democratic Lawmakers File Bill To Federally Legalize Marijuana As Trump Weighs Rescheduling

As the Trump administration considers rescheduling marijuana, Congressional Democrats have filed a bill to federally legalize cannabis by descheduling it altogether.

In addition to removing the drug from the Controlled Substances Act (CSA), the new legislation also contains a variety of provisions meant to promote equity and address the collateral consequences of prohibition.

On Friday, Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-NY), reintroduced the Marijuana Opportunity, Reinvestment and Expungement (MORE) Act, alongside three dozen cosponsors.

This is the fourth session in a row that Nadler has put forward the proposal. It passed the House twice under Democratic control while the sponsor served as chairman of the Judiciary Committee, but it did not advance last session with Republicans in the majority.

“As more states continue to legalize marijuana and public support increases, federal laws must catch up and reverse failed policies criminalizing marijuana,” Nadler said in a press release. “It is long past time to decriminalize marijuana at the federal level, expunge marijuana convictions, and facilitate resentencing, while reinvesting in the communities most adversely impacted by the War on Drugs.”

Despite uncertainty about its prospects of advancing this Congress—especially at a time when President Donald Trump is actively considering a more modest proposal to simply reschedule cannabis—advocates are again touting the MORE Act as an example of the type of wide-ranging cannabis reform legislation would take necessary steps to right the wrongs of prohibition and promote social equity.

The latest version of the legislation is largely consistent with past iterations, with certain technical changes including updated data in its findings section, for example.

The Left Doesn’t Care About Gun Violence — Only Exploiting It

On Wednesday, two young children were murdered and more than a dozen others injured when a mentally ill man cosplaying as a woman opened fire during morning Mass at a Catholic elementary school. The tragedy has sparked national conversation — but really, two different conversations.

On the right, the focus is on why the shooter committed such a heinous act. The shooter, Robert Westman (later legally known as Robin) was deeply disturbed, believed he was a female, and had those delusions affirmed by those closest to him. Notably, his mother signed off on his legal name change in 2020 because he was still a minor, as reported by the New York Post. A manifesto purportedly from Westman reveals anti-Trump and anti-Catholic animus, intertwined with other extremist ideologies.

The right recognizes the true root cause of this tragedy. This wasn’t about “gun violence.” It was about a mentally ill leftist, propped up by an ideology that tells men they can become women, acting out his hatred toward Trump and Christians.

The left, predictably, has taken the opposite approach. For them, it doesn’t matter that the shooter was delusional about his gender, or that his anti-Catholic and anti-Trump bigotry were central to his motive. None of the why matters — only that a gun was involved. And because a gun was involved, they insist, the gun must be the problem. This reflexive blame-shifting reveals the left’s true motive in covering the story: exploitation. They’re not interested in stopping violence at its roots, only in exploiting a tragedy to advance their political goals.

And how do we know this to be true?

Soros-Funded Dark Money Group Secretly Paying Democrat Influencers To Shape Gen Z Politics

When Taylor Lorenz breaks a story on Democrat dark money, you know something strange is happening. Lorenz, who has made a career as the poster child for progressive social media culture, finally turned her reporting lens onto her own side. And what she uncovered in Wired is pretty dark: a secret program bankrolled by one of the largest Democrat dark money machines in America, designed to quietly pay off dozens of high-profile influencers to steer young voters toward the left.

The story centers around the Sixteen Thirty Fund, one of the crown jewels of Arabella Advisors’ dark money empire. According to public filings, this fund has been showered with staggering sums from progressive megadonors:

  • $257.1 million from the New Venture Fund
  • $64 million from the Open Societies Action Fund
  • $20.2 million from the Hopewell Fund
  • $13 million from the North Fund
  • $5.6 million from Tides Advocacy

A spreadsheet posted by DataRepublican on X bluntly spelled it out: “That ‘dark money’ group, Sixteen Thirty Fund, is Arabella Advisors and is pure Open Society passthrough.”

Cash-Poor Democrats Are STILL Struggling to Bail Out the Failed Kamala Harris Campaign and Her Efforts to Help Them Have Failed

When it comes to the fundraising race, the Democrat party is way behind Republicans. The DNC currently has about $13 million on hand while the RNC is sitting on a nest egg of about $84 million.

One of the things that’s hurting the DNC is that they’re still struggling to help pay off the debt from the failed Kamala Harris campaign. She spent more than a billion dollars in a matter of months last fall and somehow still came up millions of dollars short with nothing to show for it.

Harris has tried to help the party with their fundraising efforts but for some strange reason, it’s just not working out.

FOX News reports:

Kamala Harris fundraising events have been a flop to help raise money for DNC: report

Former Vice President Kamala Harris’ fundraising events for the Democratic National Committee (DNC) have fallen short, according to Axios, as the DNC has continued to pay off the former presidential nominee’s campaign expenses.

Harris allowed the DNC to use her email list to help raise funds, according to Axios. She has also reportedly held a few small fundraising events.

“But the total money raised from the events has been disappointing,” Axios reported, citing people familiar with the matter.

After Harris lost to President Donald Trump in 2024, top Democrats expressed concern about potential campaign debt.

“How do you raise a historic amount of money and not win a single swing state?” one Harris aide told Axios in November, following the election loss. “The honest answer is: I don’t know. It seems we lost the national narrative, and that’s what we need to diagnose.”

In addition to this, people who are donating to the DNC now, probably think they’re giving money to support new initiatives and candidates, not realizing that they’re just helping to pay down the Harris campaign debt.

Inside Dem Dark Money Behemoth Arabella Advisors’ Failed Attempt To Create an Astroturf Influencer Army

The first rule of Fight Club is you do not talk about Fight Club. The Sixteen Thirty Fund, an offshoot of the left-wing dark money behemoth Arabella Advisors, tried to enforce that dictum when recruiting an army of handsomely paid left-wing influencers to spout Democratic talking points through an effort called “Chorus.”

Contracts reviewed by Wired stipulated that they weren’t supposed to reveal their affiliation with the Sixteen Thirty Fund or tell anybody they were being paid to mouth Democratic Party shibboleths. Presumably that includes complaining to reporters about the stringent terms of the contract and the astroturf nature of the project to “build new infrastructure to fund independent progressive voices online at scale.” Oops.

According to Wired, some of the online Left’s biggest names—including Olivia Julianna, who spoke at the 2024 Democratic National Convention; the “nonbinary content creator” Adesso Laurenzo, who boasts nearly one million TikTok followers; and Aaron Parnas, a social media journalist described by Rolling Stone as “a sort of 20-something Walter Cronkite”—expressed interest. Then they read Chorus’s proposed contract. It included the following terms, according to Wired:

  • Influencers cannot disclose their affiliation with Chorus or the Sixteen Thirty Fund.
  • Influencers cannot disclose “the identity of any Funder” or reveal they’re being paid.
  • Influencers “must funnel all bookings with lawmakers and political leaders through Chorus,” even those organized independently.
  • Influencers cannot use their monthly stipend “to make content that supports or opposes any political candidate or campaign without express authorization from Chorus in advance and in writing.”
  • Influencers must attend “regular advocacy trainings,” “daily messaging check-ins,” and biweekly “newsroom” events with lawmakers and other figures.
  • Influencers must remove content created at said events if Chorus requests them to do so.

Chorus gave the influencers two days to sign the contract and barred prospective affiliates from enlisting their lawyers to request changes.

On a Zoom call with the influencers, a partner at Democratic fixer Marc Elias’s Elias Law Group, Graham Wilson, boasted that “housing” Chorus through a nonprofit gave them “some real great advantages.”

“It gives us the ability to raise money from donors,” he said, according to Wired. “It also, with this structure, it avoids a lot of the public disclosure or public disclaimers—you know, ‘Paid for by blah blah blah blah’—that you see on political ads. We don’t need to deal with any of that. Your names aren’t showing up on, like, reports filed with the FEC.” (Elias Law Group made national headlines when it threatened to stop work for longtime client Media Matters if it didn’t fork over $2.25 million in unpaid bills.)

Many of the influencers approached to join Chorus expressed concerns over the setup in a group chat. “Nonbinary content creator” Laurenzo floated sending a “joint email” requesting changes, while a “reproductive justice influencer named Pari” said there were “at least 4 other things that should change.”

Ultimately, most of them fell in line. “I don’t feel strongly about pushing tbh,” wrote Parnas, the young Cronkite. “They aren’t going to modify it anymore. Seems like a take it or leave it.”

Democrat Policies Are so Unpopular That a Dark Money Group is Paying Progressive Influencers $8K a Month to Push Them

A dark money group on the left is paying progressive influencers up to $8,000 a month to push Democrat policy ideas. Must be nice.

This is so typical. For all of the Democrats’ talk of getting ‘big money’ out of politics, they are the worst culprits of using big money to advance their agenda when it suits them.

The New York Post reports:

‘Dark money’ group paying pro-Dem influencers up to $8K a month: report

A secretive dark money group tied to the Democratic Party is paying online influencers up to $8,000 a month to disseminate left-leaning talking points, according to a report.

The “Chorus Creator Incubator Program” is said to be funded by the “Sixteen Thirty Fund,” a nonprofit sometimes portrayed as the left’s answer to the Koch network and which has funneled money to dozens of Democratic-friendly influencers, according to WIRED magazine.

The names attached to the program span some of the most recognizable liberal voices online.

They include Olivia Julianna, the Gen Z activist who spoke at the 2024 Democratic National Convention; Loren Piretra, a former Playboy executive turned Occupy Democrats YouTuber; and Barrett Adair, the content creator who runs a viral American Girl Doll–themed meme account.

The program also includes Suzanne Lambert, who styles herself a “Regina George liberal”; Arielle Fodor, a teacher with 1.4 million TikTok followers; Sander Jennings, the TLC reality star and older brother of trans influencer Jazz Jennings; and David Pakman, host of a YouTube show.

More from the story in Wired:

“There are some real great advantages to … housing this program in a nonprofit,” Graham Wilson, a lawyer working with Chorus, said to creators on a Zoom call reviewed by WIRED. “It gives us the ability to raise money from donors. It also, with this structure, it avoids a lot of the public disclosure or public disclaimers—you know, ‘Paid for by blah blah blah blah’—that you see on political ads. We don’t need to deal with any of that. Your names aren’t showing up on, like, reports filed with the FEC.” (Wilson did not reply to a request for comment.)

Baltimore Schools Collapse Into “Failure Factory” Under Democratic Mismanagement

President Donald Trump said during a Cabinet meeting earlier on Tuesday, “I think one of the most important things we’re doing at this table is bringing education back to the states, where parents and local school boards run it.”

This leads us to President Trump’s executive order earlier this year to dismantle the U.S. Department of Education. At the time, the president pointed to an uncomfortable truth for Democrats running Baltimore City Schools and City Hall: 40% of public high schools have zero students proficient in math. That damning statistic came from Fox 45 investigative reporter Chris Papst’s coverage of Baltimore’s education crisis.

For nearly eight years, ZeroHedge has followed Papst’s investigative work through the trenches of school to school across crime-ridden Baltimore City. Papst has conducted all the investigative work through Project Baltimore, in collaboration with Fox45 News. He has spent years reporting on optically displeasing headlines that merely expose how progressive elites in City Hall and in the local school system seemingly rob generations of children of a future for short-term gain to line their pockets and funnel taxpayer funds into the Democratic Party machine, which is nothing more than corrupt unions.

Many of Papst’s reports have gone viral, including the 2023 report cited by President Trump, which revealed that 40% of Baltimore City high schools had zero students proficient in math.

Georgia Judge Orders Fulton Commissioners to Pay $10,000 Per Day Over Rogue Democrats Refusing to Seat GOP Election Board Nominees

Earlier today, The Gateway Pundit reported on at least three democrats on the Fulton County Board of Commissioners who refused to seat the lawfully nominated Republican Party nominees Jason Frazier and Julie Adams.

Commissioners Ivory and Barrett took to Instagram to express their disgust that “election deniers” would be appointed to the board and vowed to hold out no matter the costs.  Fellow commissioner Marvin Arrington Jr posted on Instagram that he’d be willing to go jail over this.

This morning, Superior Court Judge David Emerson found “beyond a reasonable doubt that the Board of Commissioners has failed to comply with the court’s order” and has held the Board in civil contempt.  Beginning on Friday, August 29th at 12pm, the Board will be fined $10,000 for every day that they fail to appoint the Republican Party’s members to the Board of Elections.

He further noted that the fine “is to be paid daily” but stopped short of holding the respondents in criminal contempt.

Judge Emerson also awarded attorney’s fees “incurred in both the bringing of this case to compel compliance with the relevant local legislation and for the intentional failure to comply with the court’s order enforcing the law.”  Emerson further wrote:

The court does find that the respondent Board of Commissioners has been stubbornly litigious and acted in bad faith in its conduct prior to this litigation by its failure to comply with clear local legislation which forced the plaintiff to file this action.  The court further finds that it has caused the plaintiff unnecessary difficult in the conduct of this litigation by its failure to comply with the court’s order. Independent school leaders BEGGED Tim Walz for help securing their schools 2 years ago…

Independent and Catholic school leaders begged Governor Tim Walz for help securing their schools two years ago, but he never helped did it. Rather he was focused more on the transgender pretenders and their cause.

Fast forward to today when a trans-terrorist murders Catholic school children in horrific display of hatred.

Here’s more from Daily Wire:

Two years before a shooter opened fire on students attending daily mass in Minneapolis, the leaders of independent and Catholic schools in Minnesota begged Democrat Governor Tim Walz for help securing their schools, according to a 2023 letter reviewed by The Daily Wire. The funding was never authorized.

In a letter dated April 14, 2023 that specifically addressed “school safety in nonpublic schools,” Tim Benz, the president of MINNDEPENDENT and Jason Adkins, the executive director of the Minnesota Catholic Conference, stressed an “urgent and critical need in Minnesota to make sure our schools are secure and safe” in light of “recent, and continuing attacks, on our schools in this country and in our state.”

The letter says there are about 72,000 students in Independent, Catholic, Jewish, Christian and Muslim nonpublic schools within the state of Minnesota. It came just weeks after the shooting at a Christian school in Tennessee, which was also carried about by a transgender-identifying individual in their twenties.

“The latest school shooting at a nonpublic Christian school in Tennessee sadly confirms what we already know – our schools are under attack,” Benz and Adkins wrote. “In Minnesota, nonpublic schools, particularly our Jewish and Muslim schools, have experienced increased levels of threats, all of which we must take very seriously.”

“The tragedy from last week at Covenant School must never happen in Minnesota or in our country again,” they wrote. “We need to ensure that all [our] schools have the resources to respond to and prevent these attacks from happening to our schools.”

Democrat VA Gubernatorial Candidate Abigail Spanberger Wants to Turn Virginia Into a Sanctuary State for Illegal Aliens

Abigail Spanberger, the Democrat candidate for governor of Virginia, is vowing to turn the commonwealth into a sanctuary state by reversing the immigration policies put in place by the current governor, Republican Glenn Youngkin.

Spanberger has also made it clear that she is an ally to the transgender agenda, and would allow boys in girls’ locker rooms and bathrooms.

On nearly every issue, Spanberger embraces the unpopular positions of the far left that the majority of the country rejected in the 2024 election.

Spanberger made her comments about immigration in an interview with the Virginia Mercury:

Spanberger vows to scrap Youngkin’s immigration order if elected governor

Democratic nominee for governor Abigail Spanberger says one of her first acts if elected would be to undo Gov. Glenn Youngkin’s February directive requiring Virginia law enforcement to help carry out federal immigration crackdowns — a policy she argues wastes local resources and undermines community trust.

“I would rescind his executive order, yes,” Spanberger told The Mercury in a lengthy policy interview earlier this month, referring to Youngkin’s Executive Order 47 issued in February. The order gave state police and corrections officers authority to perform certain immigration duties and also urged local jails to fully cooperate with federal deportation operations.

The governor said at the time the measure was meant to keep “dangerous criminal illegal immigrants” off Virginia’s streets. Spanberger countered that Youngkin’s approach illustrates how immigration enforcement can pull local agencies away from their core responsibilities while pushing state agencies into federal civil enforcement.

“Our immigration system is absolutely broken,” she said. “The idea that we would take local police officers or local sheriff’s deputies in amid all the things that they have to do, like community policing or staffing our jails or investigating real crimes, so that they can go and tear families apart … that is a misuse of those resources.”

Spanberger has been leading her Republican opponent Winsome Earle-Sears, the current Lieutenant Governor of Virginia, for weeks but Sears has rapidly closed the polling gap just within the last ten days. The race is now nearly tied.
