‘Unmistakable message’: Kansas City Star editor urges judge to make ‘shocking’ decision

The election marked a first in United States’ 248-year history when Donald Trump defeated Vice President Kamala Harris while awaiting sentencing on 34 criminal charges. The president-elect has faced criminal indictments in three other cases as well.

Justice Juan Merchan is scheduled to sentence Trump on those 34 charges on Nov. 26.

In an op-ed published by the Kansas City Star on Friday, journalist Bill Dalton argued that Merchan can honor “the rule of law” — by throwing the book at Trump.

“On November 5,” Dalton writes, “the American people did the unthinkable — they elected a convicted felon president. Judge Juan Merchan should now do what was once unthinkable — force a president-elect to take the oath of office in a jail cell.

“After taking the oath on January 20, Donald J. Trump’s first act of his second term undoubtedly would be to try to pardon himself and walk out a free man. But the surreal scene, while certainly shocking for the rest of the free world to witness, would send an unmistakable message — the rule of law still rules in America.”

Dalton continues, “That message needs to be sent because, after Inauguration Day, the rule of law will cease to exist for sitting presidents thanks to the U.S. Supreme Court’s immunity ruling. Trump proved Tuesday, aided and abetted by 72 million voters, that crime does indeed pay. He thumbed his nose at America’s once respected system of justice. He made a laughingstock of prosecutors and the judicial process. He turned what used to be a political liability for candidates into a political asset for fundraising.”

Dalton argued that Merchan “should sentence and jail Trump while he is still a private citizen, no better nor more privileged than any of the millions of people who voted for or against him.”

“Merchan should show the same courage that Vice President Mike Pence showed on January 6 when he stood for the rule of law, risking his life and destroying his political career in the process,” Dalton wrote.

Colorado Springs Voters Approve Two Contradictory Marijuana Ballot Measures To Both Allow And Ban Recreational Sales

Colorado Springs voters approved two competing ballot measures this week, one that would ban retail marijuana in the city and another that would allow existing medical marijuana stores to also sell recreationally.

As of 6 p.m. on Wednesday night, about 53 percent of voters approved Ballot Issue 2D, a city charter amendment referred by City Council that would prohibit sales within city limits. About the same share of voters also approved Ballot Question 300, an initiated ordinance which would allow the approximately 90 medical marijuana stores in the city to apply for a recreational license.

Mayor Yemi Mobolade said the result creates “a really interesting legal dilemma for us,” according to Westword.

“Although the election is not final until the results are certified, it appears as though both Ballot Question 2D and Ballot Question 300 will have been approved by the voters. If this is the case, Ballot Question 300 must be read, interpreted, and implemented in a manner to be consistent and harmonious with Ballot Question 2D,” city spokesperson Max D’Onofrio wrote in an email.

The city charter takes precedence over ordinances, so provisions of Ballot Question 300 that conflict with Ballot Issue 2D cannot be implemented, which appears to mean recreational marijuana sales would continue to be outlawed. D’Onofrio said the city is currently reviewing the ballot language. City Council next meets on November 12.

At the same time, backers of Ballot Issue 2D are optimistic.

“When all the votes are counted and the will of voters is given effect, responsible regulation will be law and the city council’s cynical ploy will be defeated,” Citizens for Responsible Marijuana Regulation said in a statement. “We know that those in municipal government will defer to the clearly expressed intent of voters to authorize recreational marijuana, and we look forward to working with city leaders over the coming months to create a responsible regulatory framework.”

Fact Check: MOSTLY TRUE

Snopes has done a helpful fact check on this: Misleading Post Says Harris Only Won in States Not Requiring Voter ID in 2024. If you read the Snopes post, what you’ll quickly see is that, while the claim is not strictly true, it’s MOSTLY true. Snopes even adds the useful information that PA only requires ID for first-time voters—otherwise, no ID. So, look at it this way. CA, NY, IL, MA give the Dems one helluva guaranteed head start on the popular vote and electoral vote combined. New York City, LA, Chicago, Boston, San Fran. That head start—call it the Blue Wall—allows the Dems to reallocate resources to peel off a few other states, by hook or by crook.

What does this tell you about how elections have been going since, say, 2008? And especially in 2020? You don’t have to deny all American demographic dynamics to see the degree of corruption here. Of course there are large numbers of foolish people across the country. What voter ID laws do is blunt the worst effects of human nature in the context of electoral processes. Do Big Cities vote heavily Blue, for all sorts of reasons? Yes, of course they do. But do the majority of the biggest cities also happen to be situated mostly in non-ID states? And have those states become the epicenter of election fraud? That’s like asking, is it coincidence that Dems so rabidly oppose honest voting rolls and registration and ID laws, and so viciously slander those who work for honest elections?

Trump’s 2016 win was the shot across the Ruling Class bow that led to the over the top 2020 steal—not even subtle. One commentator pointed out that, in a sense, Zhou saved the Dems for four years because, but for Zhou, they would have had to run Bernie, and how do you pull off a steal for Bernie? Hello, Bill Barr and Mitch McConnnell—and many others. You think they didn’t know all this?

Democrat strategist Julie Roginsky appeared on CNN this morning and delivered some tough but fair comments to members of her party.

She argued against addressing Latinos as the Latinx because “it makes them think that we don’t even live in the same planet as they do.”

Predicting the Opposition’s Next Move

NY Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has produced a recording of her silly self saying “We are about to enter a political period of fascism and authoritarianism. It is not uncommon to jail political dissidents or legislative opponents.”

This is precisely the outcome that AOC and her comrades want. As we saw during the George Floyd riots, a shadowy network of DNC-aligned nonprofits, funded by leftist billionaires, can quickly mobilize hordes of mentally deranged youth to take to the streets to cause chaos, violence, and property destruction.

These people want the new Trump administration to crack down on their emotionally dysregulated shock troops, and they will use trained agents-provocateurs to execute their plan. A crackdown will seemingly justify AOC’s claim that “We are about to enter a political period of fascism and authoritarianism.”

How to nip this in the bud before it results in injuries, death, property destruction, and pile of needless drama and distraction?

Were Peanut and Fred the final straws?

The vicious, unnecessary, malevolent killing of pet squirrel, Peanut, and pet raccoon, Fred, may have been the final two straws that put Trump over the top in such huge numbers. American voters were shocked that the government could come into their homes and unceremoniously murder two harmless long-time pets just because of some obscure law that didn’t apply. Laugh if you want, but I believe these two pet sacrifices put Trump over the top in larger numbers than he would have gotten had the pets not been slaughtered.

Government has been overreaching for a long time. We hated it then; we hate it now. Until the Peanut incident, the government had cover. But when you threaten a person’s beloved pet, you have gone too far. When you kill it just because you can, you have gone too far. People get extremely attached to pets. Children get attached to pets. It’s lose-lose for the government.

As with everything else the totalitarian Left does, it went a bridge too far and the voters punished them mercilessly for it. Certainly, there were other issues that precipitated a Trump victory — immigration, the economy,  DEI, abortion, men in women’s sports, Afghanistan, Iran. But none of those issues allowed the government to waltz into your house and kill your beloved pet.

When Peanut and Fred were slaughtered, it got up close and personal — in your house and in your face. At least when they raided your house for documents, no one was killed. But this time, two precious pets were.

Now voters knew — if they didn’t already know — how far Democrats would go if they won. I like to think Peanut and Fred didn’t die in vain.

A victory for energy and climate sanity

Now that President Donald Trump has easily defeated Vice President Kamala Harris, Americans who desire freedom of choice and are at their wits’ end with sky-high energy prices can breathe a massive sigh of relief. Moreover, the millions of Americans who are sick and tired of the never-ending climate alarmist narrative courtesy of the federal government can also rest easy.

In a few months, Trump will return to the Oval Office in one of the most spectacular comeback stories in American political history. As he has said on multiple occasions during the campaign, one of his first priorities will be addressing the energy cost crisis created by the Biden-Harris administration.

Since President Biden entered the White House in January 2021, his administration has declared war on American energy independence as well as the fossil fuel industry in general. From killing the Keystone XL pipeline to slow-walking leases for oil and gas exploration on federal lands, Biden has made it abundantly clear that he sides more with climate alarmists than ordinary, hard-working Americans.

On the other hand, Trump’s track record during his first term and what he has outlined that he will do in his second term tells us that he will embrace commonsense energy policies that puts Americans first, regardless of the propaganda spewed by climate radicals and those who benefit greatly from the scam that is known as the green energy transition.

Unlike Biden and Harris, Trump believes in American energy independence. More accurately, Trump is a strong supporter of American energy dominance. Although these terms sound similar, it is important to understand the difference between the two. When we talk about energy independence, we are basically describing a situation in which the United States does not need to import oil and other energy sources from countries like Venezuela or Saudi Arabia. When we talk about energy dominance, we are describing a scenario in which the United States can supply energy to our allies across the world, especially in Europe.

By mid-2020, Trump had achieved American energy independence for the first time in decades. This is a key reason why gasoline prices, and energy prices in general, plummeted under Trump.

It is no great secret how Trump managed to turn the United States into a net energy exporter during his first term; he simply lifted the throttle off of U.S. energy producers. Trump allowed more fracking, opened up more federal lands for exploration, and reduced regulations that have hindered the industry for far too long.

Pennsylvania Secretary of State Announces There Are ‘100,000 Ballots Remaining to Adjudicate’ as Democrat Loser Bob Casey Refuses to Concede Senate Race – Despite Call By Leftist Media

Senator Bob Casey and his Democratic allies are refusing to concede defeat in the Pennsylvania Senate race.

Casey, who has served as Pennsylvania Senator since 2007, has so far refused to admit defeat to Republican David McCormick, despite the race being called by multiple mainstream media outlets including The Associated Press.

Instead, Casey and his allies are sending out fundraising emails to supporters claiming that the race isn’t over and that they could somehow still squeeze out a victory.

Pennsylvania Secretary of State Al Schmidt on Thursday announced there are at least 100,000 ballots that need to be adjudicated.

In a statement, Casey spokesperson Maddy McDaniel said that “tens of thousands” of ballots still needed to be counted and the race could therefore not be called.

“As the Pennsylvania Secretary of State said this afternoon, there are tens of thousands of ballots across the Commonwealth still to count, which includes provisional ballots, military and overseas ballots, and mail ballots,” she wrote.

“This race is within half a point and cannot be called while the votes of thousands of Pennsylvanians are still being counted. We will make sure every Pennsylvanian’s voice is heard.”

Report: Harris Campaign ‘$20M In Debt,’ Staffer Blames Campaign Concerts

According to surfacing reports and claims from a staffer, Vice President Kamala Harris’ unsuccessful presidential campaign was left with more than $20 million in debt.

Christopher Cadelago, left-wing outlet Politico‘s California Bureau Chief, originally made the assertion on X on Wednesday night.

“Based at the Capitol, Cadelago covers elections and political power, from the governor’s mansion to the players in Los Angeles, the Bay Area and Silicon Valley,” his bio reads.

“A Kamala campaign staffer who saw these posts called me just now and said there is a massive scandal here worthy of an audit. The $20 million debt thing is real. Rob Flaherty, this staffer said, is currently shopping around the Kamala fundraising email list to anyone who wants it to try to raise the money back. This includes other campaigns and outside groups,” said Matthew Boyle, Bureau Chief for Breitbart.

“Flaherty is the deputy campaign manager and reports to Jen O’Malley Dillon. Jen blew through a billion dollars in a few months and it was all Jen’s idea to do all the concerts.” — [a] Kamala campaign adviser told me,” he continued.

The over-the-top spending was attributed to campaign manager Jen O’Malley Dillon, who prioritized “‘concerts,’ like Katy Perry, Lizzo, Eminem, Bruce Springsteen et cetera, at the expense of ‘prioritizing and spending money on social media and other campaign priorities,’” Boyle explained.
