Kansas Sheriff’s Office Praises Armed Citizen as ‘Surprise Guest Hero’

In the gun control debate, there’s often an attempt to leverage law enforcement opinion for political gain by both sides. Anti-gunners cite police chiefs’ groups, and we tend to talk about the rank-and-file officers, who tend to be overwhelmingly pro-gun.

Everything is a bit more complicated than that, though. Different places have different views, and sheriffs are political creatures to some degree or another out of necessity. I mean, they’re elected. They have to be.

So it warmed my heart a bit when Facebook decided to share a little good news with me.

In Kansas, there was a police chase that culminated in an armed citizen being praised for his role in helping keep the bad guy from getting away.

Now, not only was this one of the more entertaining reads I’ve encountered from a law enforcement agency, but it also specifically singled out an armed citizen, Mr. Anthony Maike.

This was apparently happening on his property, and he stepped up with his firearm and protected his property as needed.

Making a special appearance was surprise guest hero and homeowner Mr. Anthony Maike, who stepped up to protect his property armed with a super sick boom stick reminding everyone involved that trespassing in rural Kansas is not recommended and we LOVE the 2nd Amendment here in Wabaunsee County Kansas THANK YOU MR. MAIKE!!

No injuries were reported, and I’m thrilled to see a sheriff’s office use the word “love” in regard to the Second Amendment. The fact that it was in all caps just makes it that much better.

Granted, this is a rural county in pro-gun Kansas with around 7.000 residents. I’m not super shocked to see such a message, especially in a county that has a place called “Beecher Bible and Rifle Church.”

Yeah, that’s a thing, and it’s glorious.

The truth of the matter is that Mr. Maike has his Second Amendment rights and lives in a state that respects them. When he was needed, he took up arms and assisted. Now, a bad guy has been arrested, no one was injured, and all is right with the world.

HERE WE GO: NY Governor Kathy Hochul and Zohran Mamdani Announce Plans to Spend Billions on ‘Free’ Childcare Program

New York Governor Kathy Hochul and newly sworn in New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani have just announced their plans to spend billions of dollars on a ‘free’ childcare program. What could possibly go wrong?

They are doing this as the state of Minnesota is imploding under the weight of a massive fraud scandal which is almost completely focused on daycare centers that received millions in funding even though many of them seem to be nothing more than empty store fronts.

Are New York taxpayers about to get fleeced too?

The New York Post reports:

NY Gov. Hochul announces lofty socialist plan to offer ‘free’ child care — with $4.5B pricetag

New York inched toward socialist Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s lofty promise of universal child care Thursday — as Gov. Kathy Hochul rolled out a multi-billion-dollar plan to vastly expand kids programs.

The proposed “2-Care” program for all 2-year-olds in the Big Apple, along with a buildup of existing pre-K and early childcare in the rest of New York, will ultimately provide care for 100,000 more children across the state, Hochul said.

Mamdani, standing alongside the governor for a back-slapping announcement in the Flatbush YMCA, crowed that the proposals will help families struggling with the cost of childcare in New York City.

“We are now going to be able to fix 3-K, we are going to be able to deliver 2-Care universally across this city over the next four years and we are going to be able to make it easier to raise a family in a city where today it’s a good deal if you can get $22,500 a year for childcare,” he said.

The total price tag for Hochul’s “free” childcare proposals – which will be part of her “State of the State” address next week – will be $4.5 billion statewide, of which $1.7 billion is added spending.

Roy Cohn: From ‘Red Scare’ Prosecutor to Donald Trump’s Mentor

There are certain behind-the-scenes figures in American politics who, like Tom Hanks in Forrest Gump, seem to turn up everywhere. One of the most notorious is Roy Cohn, a man whose influence spans several decades of hot button issues, Republican politicians and LGBT history.

Cohn was a prosecutor in the Rosenberg spy trial, chief counsel to Senator Joseph McCarthy, a close friend to Nancy Reagan and a personal lawyer for Donald Trump. He was also a closeted gay man who helped purge suspected gay and lesbian employees from the government. Cohn died from AIDS-related complications in 1986, and afterwards was portrayed in the 1990s Broadway play Angels in America: A Gay Fantasia on National Themes.

McCarthyism and the Lavender Scare

Roy Cohn entered the spotlight early. At age 23, he was a prosecutor on the trial of Ethel and Julius Rosenberg, who were convicted of espionage on behalf of the Soviet Union in 1951 and executed by electric chair two years later. This gained him attention from two fervent anti-communists: longtime FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover and Republican Senator Joseph McCarthy.

Cohn became chief counsel to McCarthy as well as a chief architect of what we now call “McCarthyism”—the interrogation and purging of federal employees based on McCarthy’s unsupported claim that the government was filled with communists. In addition to this very public Second Red Scare, Cohn and McCarthy also led the less-public Lavender Scare against federal employees suspected of being gay.

It’s unknown how many employees the Lavender Scare forced out between the late ‘40s and early ‘60s, but the number is likely in the thousands. Like communists, McCarthy considered gay people security risks because of their supposed mental instability.

“In lavender Washington, Cohn was known as both a closeted homosexual and homophobic, among those leading the charge against supposedly gay witnesses who he and others believed should lose their government jobs because they were ‘security risks,’” writes journalist Marie Brenner in Vanity Fair.

Ukrainian strikes have left 550,000 without power in western Russia – governor

Ukrainian strikes have caused massive power outages in Russia’s western region of Belgorod.

Belgorod, a city of 330,000 people, has frequently been targeted by Ukrainian drones and rockets since the armed conflict between Moscow and Kiev began in 2022.

The regional governor, Vyacheslav Gladkov, said Friday that an overnight missile strike had caused “serious damage” to an unspecified infrastructure site. He added that there were no casualties and that first responders were at the scene.

Gladkov later said in a video message on his Telegram channel that as of 6am local time, outages were affecting 556,000 people across six municipalities. He added that around 2,000 apartment buildings had lost heating and nearly 200,000 people were without running water in their homes.

Belgorod’s temperature on Friday morning was around 2 °C (36 °F) and is expected to drop to −5 °C (23 °F) over the weekend.

Telegram news channels reported that air raid sirens were activated, followed shortly by a loud explosion. According to reports, a power plant may have been hit.

SICK Kimmel Claims Trump Wants To KILL AMERICANS

Talk show loser Jimmy Kimmel unleashed another unhinged rant against President Trump during a monologue Wednesday, peddling the absurd narrative that Trump is out to “kill” citizens through ICE operations.

Fresh off a justified self-defense shooting by an ICE agent in Minneapolis, Kimmel twisted the facts to fuel leftist outrage, ignoring the real threats from violent agitators obstructing law enforcement.

This comes as no surprise from a host whose Trump Derangement Syndrome has consumed his failing show, turning it into a nightly echo chamber for anti-America propaganda.

Desperate for relevance, Kimmel presented custom t-shirts during the pathetic segment. The prop was inserted presumably as the ‘comedy’, because otherwise it would’ve literally been just him claiming Trump wants to murder people.

He flashed one that read “Donald J Trump is going to kill you” and another aimed at ICE demanding “Get the f*** out of Minneapolis.”

He claimed, “He isn’t just killing people overseas an ICE agent today shot and killed An unarmed 37 year old woman during an ice operation In Minneapolis who were there under the guise of protecting us.”

He then attempted to ridicule Trump’s Truth Social post defending the agent, reading it aloud before dismissively suggesting “Now I saw this video It didn’t look like anybody got run over to me.”

This isn’t comedy or entertainment; it’s a sad bid for attention from a soon to be unemployed has-been. Why does anyone need Kimmel’s withering commentary? Even leftists must find this beyond cringe.

Kimmel’s obsession with Trump borders on pathological—it’s literally all he talks about every night on his low-rated ABC show that absolutely no one watches. With ratings in the toilet, it’s a safe bet ABC axes the irrelevant relic as soon as his contract expires.

Far-Left DA Mary Moriarty Threatens to Prosecute ICE Agent Who Fired in Self-Defense Against Violent Agitator

The far-left Hennepin County Attorney’s Office is now claiming it has the “authority” to bring criminal charges against a federal ICE agent who was forced to use his weapon in self-defense on Wednesday.

The incident occurred during a targeted enforcement operation in South Minneapolis as part of a broader Trump administration crackdown on illegal immigration.

According to the Department of Homeland Security, 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good was acting as a “violent rioter” when she allegedly weaponized her SUV, attempting to ram and kill federal officers.

The agent, already doxxed by the legacy media, was identified as a 10-year veteran who discharged his weapon after Good allegedly accelerated her vehicle toward him.

DHS Secretary Kristi Noem praised the officer’s split-second decision-making, stating he “used his training to save his own life and that of his colleagues.”

Ross is no stranger to the dangers of the Twin Cities; records show he was seriously injured last year after being dragged by a fleeing vehicle during a similar operation.

VP JD Vance mentioned that the officer involved had been “dragged by a car six months ago” and required 33 stitches in his legs, a fact conveniently omitted by the fake news media.

Despite the federal nature of the incident, Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty, a prosecutor notorious for her “soft-on-crime” approach, is vowing to use “every available lever to ensure a local, transparent investigation takes place.”

“We have jurisdiction to bring charges, as do the feds,” Daniel Borgertpoepping, a spokesperson for the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office told ABC News.

“It’s a little bit of a complicated interplay but the bottom line is yes, we have jurisdiction to bring criminal charges.”

In an interview with MS NOW, Minnesota’s far-left Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan doubled down on the rhetoric.

While federal officials maintain that ICE agents were performing their lawful duties to remove illegal aliens and maintain public safety, Flanagan and other state Democrats are framing the presence of federal law enforcement as “unconstitutional.”

Flanagan framed federal agents as the primary source of danger in Minnesota.

“These ICE agents, right, who are here under the guise somehow of safety have done nothing but make us less safe,” Flanagan claimed.

She went on to accuse the agents of “detaining American citizens,” “throwing people into the backs of vans,” arresting legal observers and innocent bystanders,” and even “deploying chemical agents around children.”

The Lieutenant Governor repeatedly called for a “full and fair, transparent investigation,” stating that “Renee Goode deserves justice.”

However, she expressed deep frustration that the FBI has rescinded its cooperation with the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA).

‘Queer food’ course at Boston U. explores what ‘polyamorous’ and ‘non-binary’ people eat

Boston University students can study the “ways in which language and behaviors around food both reinforce and challenge gender hierarchies and restrictive norms around sexuality,” in a “Food Studies” class.

“Food, Gender, and Sexuality,” helps students explore the concept of “queer food,” according to Professor Megan Elias. The university recently profiled the professor and her course, along with a book she helped write, titled “Queers at the Table: An Illustrated Guide to Queer Food (with Recipes).”

The professor (pictured) gave some examples of topics of discussion in her “food studies classes.”

Students might consider “how [their] food choice is representing [their] gender identity,” she said in an explanatory video produced by Boston U.

“How is that different if you’re gay? How is that different if you’re non-binary? How is that different if you’re polyamorous,” she asked.

All these questions help “disrupt kind of ideas about foods that really obscure human experience,” she said.

Queer food is not a new concept, according to Elias.

“Queer food has always been,” Elias said in an interview with the university’s Faculty Angle series. “Queer people have always been cooking, they have always been eating, they have always been part of the food landscape. And so to acknowledge that is really to show us a new way of thinking about food.”

“We really feel that talking about queer food is a way to disrupt ideas about food that really obscure [the] human experience,” she said further. “That is what we do in food studies—we use food to understand the bigger picture of human experience.”

Elias said she does not have a definition for what “queer food” is but wants “recognition” it exists.

“So, to understand that queer food has always been, that queer people have always been cooking, they have always been eating, they have always been part of the food landscape,” she said in the YouTube video.

“Gender norms” can infect the way people think about food and cooking, Elias said. For example, “the idea that there’s a ‘mom’s home cooking,’” is not inclusive because some homes don’t have a mom, she said.

Far-Left Gov. Tim Walz Mobilizes National Guard as Minneapolis Spirals Into Chaos

Radical Democrat Governor Tim Walz is at it again.

Years after he sat back and watched Minneapolis burn during the 2020 BLM riots, Walz has suddenly found his “authority” to mobilize the Minnesota National Guard.

As TGP reported at the time, Walz’s delay in 2020 allowed rioters to torch the Third Precinct and cause over $500 million in damages.

Now, facing a new crisis, the Governor appears to be playing the same political games, pleading for “peace” while simultaneously attacking federal law enforcement.

On Wednesday, Walz issued a “warning order” for the National Guard following a fatal officer-involved shooting involving a federal ICE agent in South Minneapolis.

Walz explicitly described the order as a “heads-up” for the troops to begin preparations for potential deployment.

Walz is framing this preparation as a protective measure for Minnesotans against what he calls “sensationalized” federal operations. He stated, “These National Guard troops are our National Guard troops.”

On Thursday, Walz is now positioning the National Guard not just to stop rioters, but as a “heads up” against what he calls a “war” being waged by federal agencies against his state.

According to the press release:

Out of an Abundance of Caution and in Coordination with Local Officials, Governor Walz Authorizes Minnesota National Guard to be Staged and Ready to Support Local Law Enforcement If Needed

The National Guard remains ready if needed to help keep the peace, ensure public safety, and allow for peaceful demonstrations

Governor Tim Walz has authorized the Minnesota National Guard to be staged and ready to support local and state law enforcement in protecting critical infrastructure and maintaining public safety following a shooting involving federal immigration enforcement agents in south Minneapolis.

Executive Order 26-01 provides the ability for the Minnesota National Guard to protect critical infrastructure and to assist local law enforcement with additional tasks as requested. The state is providing additional law enforcement resources in a coordinated response to aid local law enforcement. The Minnesota State Patrol has mobilized 85 members of its Mobile Response Team to support law enforcement efforts in the Twin Cities.

“Minnesotans have met this moment. Thousands of people have peacefully made their voices heard. Minnesota: thank you. We saw powerful peace,” said Governor Walz. “We have every reason to believe that peace will hold. Yesterday, I directed the National Guard to be ready should they be needed. They remain ready in the event they are needed to help keep the peace, ensure public safety, and allow for peaceful demonstrations.”

Executive Order 26-01 authorizes the Adjutant General to place National Guard personnel, equipment, and facilities on state active duty to coordinate and support public safety and security services in Minnesota. The Guard will serve in a support role, focused on protecting property, safeguarding critical infrastructure, and allowing local law enforcement to remain focused on community safety and investigative responsibilities.

Executive Order 26-01 provides access to an additional tool that can include preparation and planning in support of local and state law enforcement and emergency management agencies, as well as the support of local law enforcement efforts to protect life and property, ensure public safety, and protect freedom of speech by allowing for peaceful demonstrations.

Israel claims Hezbollah disarmament ‘far from sufficient’ as Beirut says phase one complete

The Israeli Foreign Ministry said in a statement on 8 January that Hezbollah’s disarmament is “far from being achieved,” in response to Lebanon’s announcement that it has completed the first phase of disarming the resistance group.

“The goal of disarming Hezbollah in southern Lebanon remains far from being achieved,” the statement said, attaching a video showing what it says are new Hezbollah military sites in the southern town of Beit Lif.

The ministry said Israel “acknowledges the decision of the Lebanese government to address the disarmament of Hezbollah and some of the efforts the Lebanese Armed Forces [LAF] have made in this context,” but stressed that these efforts have been “limited.”

“Hezbollah is rearming faster than it is being disarmed,” the Foreign Ministry went on to say, while alleging cooperation between Hezbollah and the Lebanese army, and calling it “regrettable.”

“Israel expects LAF efforts to disarm Hezbollah to continue south of the Litani and throughout all other parts of Lebanon, in full accordance with the ceasefire agreement,” it concluded.

The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu echoed what the Foreign Ministry said, calling Lebanon’s efforts “far from sufficient.”

The statement came after the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) announced completing the disarmament of Hezbollah south of the Litani River.

“The army confirms that its plan to restrict weapons has entered an advanced stage, after the effective and tangible achievement of the objectives of the first phase on the ground. This phase focused on expanding the army’s operational presence, securing vital areas, and establishing operational control over territories that have come under its authority in the sector south of the Litani, with the exception of lands and sites that remain under Israeli occupation,” the LAF said.

The statement added that “work in the sector is ongoing until the completion of the clearance of unexploded ordnance and tunnels, in addition to Requests for Action (RFAs), in order to consolidate control and prevent armed groups from rebuilding their capabilities in an irreversible manner.”

The developments coincide with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi’s visit to Lebanon. Araghchi has previously referred to the Hezbollah disarmament plan as a “doomed effort.”

A day earlier, Lebanon’s Foreign Minister Youssef Rajji claimed the Lebanese army was capable of confronting Hezbollah militarily if needed.

Rajji is closely affiliated with the US-backed Lebanese Forces (LF) party, and regularly blames Hezbollah for Israeli airstrikes and occupation in Lebanon.

“If a democratically elected government moves to disarm an illegal armed organization, it is restoring the principles of the constitution and the Taif Accord, not waging a ‘civil war.’ In any event, the LAF is capable of confronting Hezbollah militarily, if necessary,” Rajji told the pro-Israel US think tank, Washington Institute for Near East Policy (WINEP).

BUSTED: Ilhan Omar Caught Trying to Funnel $1M to a “Substance Abuse Clinic” Operating Out of a Restaurant Run by Three People at the Same Address — GOP TORPEDOES the Earmark

Another Minnesota money pipeline just got shut down, and this one leads straight back to Rep. Ilhan Omar.

The funding, which was tucked into a federal spending bill, was purportedly destined for a “substance abuse clinic” in Omar’s home state of Minnesota.

However, a shocking investigation led by Senator Joni Ernst (R-IA) revealed that the “clinic” was anything but legitimate.

During an interview on Fox Business, Senator Ernst detailed the absolute absurdity of the proposal, describing a trail of red flags that would make any honest taxpayer’s blood boil.

“What I uncovered the other day, in one of our spending bills making its way through Congress, was a $1 million earmark from Representative Ilhan Omar of Minnesota.

“This earmark was supposedly going to a substance abuse clinic, which actually happened to be housed in a restaurant and run by three individuals who share the same residential address, according to their IRS paperwork. Tons of red flags.

“So this is what we saw with the fraud involving the daycare centers. Now we see other earmarks coming directly from members of Congress where it seems fraud is being perpetrated as well.

“I raised the issue, and fortunately, the House has now stripped that earmark out of that spending bill. But again, this is how easy money has been flowing to bad actors in Minnesota.”
