Ding dong the legacy media and its slavish war reporting is dead

In a major development that must be frustrating to an establishment trying to sell their policies to an increasingly skeptical public, the rising popularity of independent media has made it impossible to create broad consensus for corporate-compliant narratives, and to casually denigrate, or even censor, those who disagree.

It’s been a long road.

In terms of foreign policymakers being able to control the message, the first Gulf War in 1991 was a high-water mark in retrospect. At that point, Americans were getting their national news almost exclusively from corporate sources and especially the evening news, with the young CNN (launched in 1980 the only cable alternative) adding to network coverage. With such a narrow band of options, narratives could be foisted upon the American public by the Washington establishment and their compatriots in the media, who largely shared the same social circles, backgrounds, and career interests.

Such fanciful and self-serving narratives (babies stolen from incubators and “liberating” Kuwait, the Iraqis, and especially the Kurds from the brutal dictator, Saddam Hussein) were accepted by the public pretty much without question. There was an anti-war movement in those days, but it was disorganized, and considered by the mainstream to be vaguely unpatriotic. There was a heavy Pentagon hand, if not outright censorship in the coverage of the war, a deliberate reaction to the independent and more impactful reporting of the Vietnam War a decade before.

In the run-up to the second Gulf War in 2003, TV host Phil Donahue was fired from MSNBC for hosting antiwar voices and, according to an internal NBC memo at the time, giving the network “a difficult public face for NBC in a time of war.” This from a network that was itself owned by a defense contractor, General Electric, which profited hugely from the invasion of Iraq.

The media fired and marginalized its dissenting voices, including Ashleigh Banfield, a rising star who said she was “banished’ by NBC after making comments in 2003 about how Americans weren’t getting the full picture of the Iraq War. She criticized the network embeds, which ensured only compliant reporters would be allowed into the war zone. The corporate media became handmaidens of the U.S. military and the powerbrokers in Washington, allowing the war there and in Afghanistan to continue for decades, without a serious questioning of the logic.

Then something unexpected happened: public trust in media plummeted from approximately 72% in 1976, to 28% today. Part of this public mistrust may have resulted from the fact that so many of the media narratives of our century, devised in concert with the permanent bureaucracy in Washington, have turned out to be wildly wrong (for example, that the Iraq invasion would bring democracy and freedom to the Middle East, and would end a threatening WMD program; that the NATO bombing of Libya was necessary to prevent a “rape army” fueled by Viagra and methamphetamines, and would bring, again, a democracy to Libya).

But the other obvious reason for the collapse in public trust in corporate media and, by extension, for policymakers’ ability to sell a chosen narrative, is the rise of independent media in the years during and following the wars. The general acceptance of blogs and social media as a source of information coincidentally took off around 2007 — at the very moment that Washington and the corporate media’s lies and misdirections were breaking down and destroying American faith in their institutions writ large.

Alabama Lawmakers Pass Bill To Increase Penalties For Smoking Marijuana In A Car Where A Child Is Present

The Alabama House of Representatives Thursday passed a bill that prohibits smoking or vaping marijuana in a car with children.

HB 72, sponsored by Rep. Patrick Sellers, D-Pleasant Grove, would make it a Class A misdemeanor, punishable by up to a year in jail,  for those who smoke marijuana in a car with a child under 19.

The bill passed 77-2 after an unusual debate largely limited to the 29 Democrats in the 105-member chamber over potential unintended consequences. Most Democrats abstained from the vote. Four voted in favor; Reps. Mary Moore, D-Birmingham and TaShina Morris, D-Montgomery, voted against the bill.

“It’s about protecting the children, protecting every single child in the state of Alabama,” Sellers said after the meeting. “And that’s the motivation behind making sure that every child has the 100 percent ability to learn in the best environment that they can and keep them safe.”

Under the bill, individuals who are found to have smoked marijuana in the car with a child would be required to go through an educational program conducted by the Department of Public Health and would be reported by law enforcement to local county human resources departments.

Several Democrats who spoke on the measure cited the toll that harsh drug laws had taken on minority communities.

“It goes back to the heart of criminalization of marijuana in certain communities,” Rep. Juandalynn Givan, D-Birmingham, said after the meeting. “And those are communities that are communities typical of people of color.”

Givan also said House Democrats had wanted to work with Sellers on the bill.

“The Democratic Party, on several attempts, said that this is a bill that we might need to sit down and curate,” she said. “I’m not sure why the sponsor of the bill did not do that.”

Morris raised concerns about the bill’s definition of a child during debate.

“So we’re making a parent responsible for an 18-year-old who has a marijuana smell on them,” she said. “We know at the ages of 16 and 17, especially with the influence of walking outside and going different places, that they are smoking, maybe without the parent even knowing.”

Rep. Rolanda Hollis, D-Birmingham, said during debate that parents don’t know everything that their child does.

“As a parent you may not know, and here I don’t know if the counselor or the principal can call you in to say ‘Hey this is what we smelled on your kid’s jacket, how are we gonna handle this?’ But instead you got me going to a class for something I don’t even know about,” she said.

When asked after the meeting about Morris’ concerns about the bill’s language regarding age, Sellers said parents should “stop making excuses” for their children.

“You know whether or not your child is smoking marijuana. If someone lives in your house, you know they’re smoking marijuana because you can smell it. It’s a distinct smell,” he said.

New video shows prison guards calmly going about their business just 30 minutes after Jeffrey Epstein was found dead in his cell

New footage released by US authorities shows prison guards calmly going about their business inside the prison where Jeffrey Epstein died just half an hour after he was found.

The paedophile billionaire had been found unresponsive in his cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York at 6.30am on August 19, 2019, despite being a high profile prisoner who had been on suicide watch.

But the first footage to emerge of the immediate aftermath of his death from inside the jail shows a scene of apparent calm on the floor above Epstein’s cell.

In CCTV released by the Department of Justice (DoJ) as part of what it says will be the final tranche of the ‘Epstein Files’, evidence compiled ahead of his expected trial on sex offences, a drab prison corridor and a large curved guards’ station can be seen.

The scene, filmed at just after 7am, focuses, presumably from a fixed prison camera in the corridor, on the apparently deserted black pillared desk for the first seven minutes.

A hand is then seen coming across the screen from the left of the shot from someone seated behind the desk reaching to answer a phone and possibly press an intercom.

Around 40 seconds later, the male guard in uniform and a baseball cap stands up and begins to move away slowly but soon doubles back to reach for something to eat from a shelf. He can be seen emptying handfuls into his palm from a small box and shovelling them into his mouth.

He continues to eat as a female guard in uniform appears at the front of the desk with her back to the camera and picks up the phone.

LA descends into a war zone as furious protesters brandishing Mexican and American flags while wearing gas masks ATTACK police

Chaotic scenes unfolded on Friday in Los Angeles as protesters carrying Mexican and American flags clashed with police while demonstrating against Immigration and Customs Enforcement raids.

Protesters stormed the outside of a federal prison in downtown Los Angeles and came face-to-face with police officers, who protected themselves behind shields before unleashing pepper balls and tear gas.

One dramatic image depicted a protester striking an officer’s shield with a skateboard. Another revealed police firing non-lethal rounds at protesters in an effort to disperse.

The Los Angeles Police Department issued a warning just before 9 pm, ordering all protesters near Union Station to disperse within 10 minutes.

Officers then infiltrated the scene and said they were met with bottles and rocks hurled at them, according to the LAPD’s social media account.

LAPD Central Division announced a ‘tactical alert’ after federal authorities were hit with debris, bottles, and other objects.

As the night continued, the LAPD arrested ‘violent agitators’ who were allegedly ‘fighting with officers,’ one of whom was accused of ‘using a sling shot to shoot hard metal objects at officers who were standing on the line.’

Mayor Karen Bass later confirmed that five people were arrested during the dramatic confrontation. The Daily Mail has reached out to the LAPD for an update on the arrests.

Bass urged protesters in the city to remain peaceful during a press conference on Friday, adding that violence was ‘exactly what I believe this administration wants to see happen.’

‘I think the protests are extremely important, but it is equally important for these protests to be peaceful, for vandalism not to take place,’ she said.

‘That does not impact the administration in any kind of way that is going to bring about any type of change.’

Protesters told the Los Angeles Times that officers positioned themselves on the roof and fired off nonlethal rounds, deploying a green and yellow irritant that created a large cloud.

Many of the protesters were seen in gas masks as some covered their eyes and fled the scene.

Obscene messages were written on the front of the Metropolitan Detention Center, and protesters were seen pushing a large red dumpster to barricade themselves from police.

One of the demonstrators, Yamilet Segundo, 19, told the Los Angeles Times: ‘I told my friends we should come out after school to use our voice, but I wasn’t expecting to see this.’

‘It’s honestly really sad to see that it reached this point. I’m kind of nervous now because it seems like it’s getting violent.

Neil Young Encounters The Most Boomer Leftist Problem Imaginable

Aging rocker Neil Young has encountered perhaps the most boomer of leftist boomer issues, and of course it’s all President Trump’s fault.

He can no longer use his ancient flip phone because orange man bad.

In a rambling post on his website, Young details his epic struggle to ditch Verizon service, convinced that every dollar he spends fuels a “Trump Fascist regime.”

It’s peak boomer leftist TDS paranoia, where everyday consumer choices somehow morph into grand acts of resistance.

Young kicks off his diatribe with the revelation that his flip phone bears the Verizon logo. “Mornin’ folks….It’s a new day….a big day for my Flip phone. I noticed it says VERIZON on it. Of course I can’t use a Verizon phone. Verizon is a supporter of TRUMP with big $!” he writes, as if discovering a hidden swastika etched into the device.

He floats the idea of switching to T-Mobile, only to immediately shoot it down. “I’m going to see if I can just drop Verizon and move to T-Mobile,” he muses, before adding, “But wait….T-MOBILE donated to TRUMP’s Ballroom, which has gone from 200 million to 400 million suddenly. Where is that money going? There is no accounting. So T-Mobile is apparently out.”

The “ballroom” obsession is particularly unhinged; Young fixates on the White House renovation project, questioning “What favors? What companies are donating? Why?” as if uncovering a vast conspiracy.

The absurdity escalates when Young realizes he’s typing on an Apple computer. “HEY THIS IS AN APPLE COMPUTER!—— I have to stop and re-assess. No more upgrades! That feeds Apple, Apple supports ‘The Regime’ with donations,” he exclaims.

He even calls his business manager mid-rant to halt any future Apple spending, decrying CEO Tim Cook for “kissing ass” at a White House event.

Young then threatens to sue Apple if his computer stops working without upgrades, expressing a desire to cling to current versions of Pages and FaceTime because he likes them as they are and doesn’t want them to change.

It’s a hilarious snapshot of boomer tech illiteracy colliding with political zealotry—refusing modern conveniences to own the MAGA crowd.

Young ties it all back to his broader crusade, referencing a list of companies “backing the Fascist Trump Regime” on his website’s editorial page.

“One by one, I am cancelling all contact with each of them. This is not easy, but the alternative – me giving money I got from you, for my music, to the Regime that backed the illegal killings of two Americans. That can’t happen,” he declares.

Young’s rants are getting more and more loony. As we previously covered, he pulled his music from Spotify in 2022 to protest Joe Rogan’s supposed “COVID disinformation,” only to slink back two years later when the pandemic froth died down.

Iowa Bill Would Require Medical Examiners to Include Vaccine Records in Infant Death Investigations

Iowa legislators are considering a bill that would require medical examiners to document recent immunizations on the death certificates of children who died from unknown causes, KIMT3 News reported.

Bill sponsor Rep. Samantha Fett of Warren County said this information is important to understand what might be behind deaths categorized as Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).

“The U.S. continues to have a high SIDS rate compared to every other industrialized nation,” Fett told The Defender. “I believe it is time to start gathering this information for the parents of the children who have died.”

Fett said health departments also should have this information so health officials and medical examiners can ensure that every medication a child takes is taken into consideration when trying to determine why a child died.

Medical researcher Neil Z. Miller, author of numerous books on vaccine safety, told The Defender that “of course” the bill is a good idea.

“A child never dies from ‘unknown causes,’” Miller said. “There is always a reason for death. Often, that reason is vaccines. But medical examiners may be ‘hesitant’ to list vaccines as the probable cause due to intense pressure from medical colleagues.”

The proposed bill would relieve that pressure.

Critics of the bill say the medical review conducted when a child dies is already extensive. A local physician, Dr. Austin Baeth of Polk County, Iowa, said that even considering the bill “gives the signal to Iowans out there that vaccines are dangerous.”

Miller disagreed. “No, the actual harm may be yet another child’s death labeled as being from unknown causes, which can serve as a euphemism for a vaccine-related death.”

A Wright County medical examiner told KIMT3 that there are approximately 30 child deaths per year in Iowa that are attributed to unknown circumstances.

Water, Vinegar, and Suspicious Millions: Questions Surround Ilhan Omar

When they sprayed water on someone suspected of fraud, I said nothing, because I was not suspected of fraud…

Liberal accounts on social media are praising Rep. Ilhan Omar’s courage for raising her fist at her attacker after being squirted with a small amount of water. Mainstream media are quick to point out that the syringe did not contain only water but also apple cider vinegar, a non-irritant which, if it hits your face, can cause temporary blindness and a sour taste in your mouth. It is also known to remove stains from clothing.

Unlike President Trump, who missed one day of work after being shot, the courageous Ilhan Omar returned to the podium and defiantly continued her diatribe on why federal law enforcement should be discontinued. Where others might have been concerned that there was a chemical or biological weapon in the syringe, Omar pressed on, almost as if she knew she had been doused with salad dressing.

While recovering from the traumatic ordeal that left droplets of moisture on her blouse, Omar is reportedly under Justice Department investigation over questions surrounding her finances and the rapid growth of her personal wealth since entering Congress.

Critics point to financial disclosures showing her family’s assets grew from a reported negative net worth when she entered Congress in 2019 to 2024 estimates ranging between $6 million and $30 million.

President Trump has been criticized for claiming Omar went from having “NOTHING” in Somalia to being worth over $44 million. He has been attacked by the media, which claim the $44 million figure is an exaggeration, but whether the figure is $30 million or $44 million, it is reasonable to ask how she arrived at such a large sum in just a few years while earning about $175,000 per year.

Based on her own filings, the value of her husband’s stake in Rose Lake Capital jumped from a maximum of $1,000 to a minimum of $5 million in a single year. Despite signing these forms under penalty of perjury, Omar told Business Insider in February 2025 that the claim she is worth millions is “categorically false.” She went on to say that she is “barely worth thousands” and owns neither a house nor stocks. As a result, it appears that in some interviews she has suggested her net worth is less than $1 million, while in others she has attributed the growth in her net worth to prudent investment.

Forensic accountants and the House Oversight Committee are now looking for the “why.” They are investigating whether the 2024 valuation was a typo, a massive success for her husband’s firm, or related to broader federal investigations into billion-dollar fraud within Minnesota state assistance programs and Somali-linked charities, such as the “Feeding Our Future” fraud scandal.

Omar responded by accusing Trump of using conspiracy theories about her to distract from declining political support and policy failures, saying previous investigations found no wrongdoing while calling for federal immigration agents to leave Minneapolis and urging the impeachment of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem.

Ukraine Moves To Purge Dostoevsky & Tolstoy From Public Mention

In the latest escalation of Ukraine’s cultural purge and targeting of all things Russian, Ukraine’s Institute of National Memory has this month formally branded the famed classic Russian authors Fyodor Dostoevsky and Leo Tolstoy as vectors of “Russian imperial propaganda”.

This has included a call from the body which operates under the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine for all streets, monuments, and public institutions bearing their names be wiped from the map.

According to Interfax, commenting on the ruling, “the assignment of their names to geographical objects, names of legal entities and objects of property rights, objects of toponymy, as well as the establishment of monuments and memorial signs in their honor in Ukraine was the embodiment of Russification – Russian imperial policy aimed at imposing the use of the Russian language, promoting Russian culture as superior compared to other national languages and cultures, displacing the Ukrainian language from use, and narrowing the Ukrainian cultural and information space.”

In a January 20 statement, the Institute of National Memory’s ‘expert commission’ claimed the literary legacy of both writers is “directly connected to the glorification of Russian imperial policy.” The Ukrainian officials also asserted there are signs of “Ukrainophobia” in their books.

The move was met with complete silence in Western media, and the story has gone almost completely overlooked, despite Dostoevsky and Tolstoy having long been widely studied and appreciated across the globe, and in American colleges, literary programs, theaters – and among common avid readers.

Their works, from The Brothers Karamazov to the massive War and Peace have done much to shape Western culture and higher education in the 150 years of the works’ existence.

And yet the Ukrainian government-linked institute now claims the historic prominence of Dostoevsky and Tolstoy across Ukraine was not because it is literary art with universal appeal, but somehow part of a long-running Russification campaign designed to marginalize the Ukrainian language and culture.

Ukraine has in essence just labeled two of the world’s greatest historical authors, which far pre-date both the modern Russian Federation and Soviet Union of the 20th century, as ‘propaganda’.

Atlanta Field Office Special Agent in Charge Allegedly Removed For Slow-Walking Election Fraud Investigation

Reports are emerging on social media that Paul Brown, the FBI Special Agent in Charge at the Atlanta Field Office, was “forced out of that job earlier this month,” according to MSNOW’s Ken Dilanian.

According to MSNOW, Brown “was forced out this month after questioning the Justice Department’s renewed push to probe Fulton County’s role in the 2020 election” after “expressing concern” about “unsubstantiated allegations of voter fraud” in Fulton County.

On Thursday, The Gateway Pundit published a 26-count report that was shared with the Department of Justice.  The document allegedly details extensive acts of maladministration and evidence destruction in Fulton County related to the 2020 election. The publication maintains that the claims are supported by citations and corroborating materials, countering Dilanian’s characterization of them as “unsubstantiated.”

CCP-Linked Figure Caught Bankrolling Anti-ICE Agitators Through Shady Network

As clashes between agitators and federal law enforcement intensify in Minneapolis, the money trail behind the anti-U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement unrest is starting to surface.

Investigators and congressional Republicans are zeroing in on a wealthy American expat living in China who has been linked to a web of dark money groups accused of fueling far-left activism tied to Chinese Communist Party interests.

A Fox News Digital investigation this week identified several organizations acting as the primary engines behind the Minneapolis unrest, mobilizing protesters and coordinating messaging across multiple platforms to push demonstrations in Minnesota and beyond. Among the most prominent are the Party for Socialism and Liberation and The People’s Forum.

Both groups have been heavily subsidized by former tech executive Neville Roy Singham, according to media reports and congressional probes. Singham, a multimillionaire who sold his IT consulting firm in 2017 for $785 million, relocated to Shanghai and has largely remained out of reach of U.S. authorities.

A former federal prosecutor told Fox News Digital that Singham’s move to China effectively shields him from subpoenas, allowing his funding network to operate with little accountability.

Singham was the subject of a 2023 New York Times investigation that detailed his alleged ties to CCP-aligned propaganda efforts and his role in funneling hundreds of millions of dollars into opaque nonprofit organizations in the U.S. The report said more than a quarter-billion dollars had flowed through entities with vague names, minimal disclosures and mailing addresses tied to commercial mailboxes.

The 71-year-old U.S. citizen reportedly shares office space in Shanghai with the Maku Group, a media company he funds that promotes pro-CCP messaging, including efforts to “tell China’s story well.”

Singham’s name has surfaced in federal investigations for decades. The FBI probed him in 1974 for potentially being “engaged in activities inimical to U.S. interests,” according to records cited by lawmakers.

In 2025, Singham and organizations tied to his funding have faced mounting scrutiny from House and Senate committees. Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., launched a House Oversight investigation last year into Singham’s alleged role in financing anti-ICE riots in Los Angeles.

“Mr. Singham, who resides in the People’s Republic of China, has a long track-record of assisting far-left entities, such as Code Pink, that oppose U.S. interests and support U.S. adversaries,” lawmakers wrote in a letter to Attorney General Pam Bondi.

The Oversight Committee also flagged the Party for Socialism and Liberation as an organizer of “destructive protests and civil unrest,” pointing directly to Singham’s financial backing. The group did not respond to requests for comment.

The People’s Forum, another alleged organizer in Minneapolis, has drawn similar attention. In 2024, the House Ways and Means Committee questioned the IRS about tax-exempt groups promoting CCP propaganda, naming The People’s Forum in its inquiry.
