NAACP, Congressional Black Caucus Silent About Democrat Senator’s Membership at All-White Club

Both the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) and the Congressional Black Caucus were radio silent on Monday after news broke that Democrat Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) defended his membership to an elite, all-white beach club.

Breitbart News reached out to both the NAACP and the Congressional Black Caucus for comment regarding Whitehouse’s extra-curricular activities. Neither organization responded.

Whitehouse, who decried systemic racism following the deaths of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, and Breonna Taylor, has frequented Bailey Beach Club for decades, GoLocal Providence first reported. While the 124-year-old club can’t legally mandate that its members be “all white,” its lack of diversity was first documented back in 2003 in the New York Times:

Diversity, of course, has made scant inroads on the Newport of Bailey’s Beach, whose membership profile might be defined less by who people are than what they are not. “Jewish, yes,” Audrey Oswald, a lifelong member replied, when asked about the club’s demographic composition. “Blacks, not really,” Ms. Oswald added[.]

Whitehouse defended his Bailey Beach Club membership, officially known as the Spouting Rock Beach Association, to a reporter on the eve of Juneteenth National Independence Day.

“It’s a long tradition in Rhode Island and there are many of them and I think we just need to work our way through the issues, thank you,” Whitehouse said when the reporter asked him if a wealthy, all-white club like Bailey’s should still exist in 2021.

Dem Sen. Whitehouse Defends Family’s Membership in All-White Club: ‘It’s a Long Tradition in RI’

Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), who portrays himself as a progressive social justice warrior, is facing new scrutiny over his family’s decades-long membership at an all-white country club.

Local media approached Whitehouse on Friday in Pawtucket to ask why the Bailey’s Beach Club in Newport hasn’t admitted any minorities yet.

“I think the people who are running the place are still working on that and I’m sorry it hasn’t happened yet,” Whitehouse said.

“It’s a long tradition in Rhode Island and there are many of them and I think we just need to work our way through the issues, thank you,” he added as he was ushered away by a staffer.

“Fraudits Have No Place in Colorado” – Democrat Colorado Secretary of State Issues Emergency Rules Prohibiting Election Audits

Democrat Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold on Thursday announced her office issued emergency rules prohibiting election audits.

“My office just issued rules prohibiting sham election audits in the State of Colorado. We will not risk the state’s election security nor perpetuate The Big Lie. Fraudits have no place in Colorado,” Griswold announced, taking a swipe at the Arizona audit.

In Thursday’s press release, Griswold boasted that Colorado’s elections are considered the “safest in the nation.”

Civil Rights Lawsuit Filed Against Democrats Over Censoring Americans’ Election Tweets

“California Democrats have access to a rapid response team at Twitter, which takes down tweets at the request of Democrats,” Mike Cernovich pointed out.

How can Democrats square their support for “democracy” with government and corporations rigging the election process to stifle the dissent of their opponents?

This case is vital for a robust defense of free speech rights in the Information Age on digital platforms that have become the equivalent of the public square. If the California government can get away with working with corporations to censor Rogan Handley, then next it can censor you.

DeSantis Democrat Challenger Nikki Fried’s Website Hid Radical Positions from Spanish-Language Section

Democrat Florida Agricultural Commissioner Nikki Fried, who is running to challenge Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis in 2022, allegedly presented a more moderate agenda on the Spanish page of her campaign website than on the English page, Newsweek reported Monday.

Two hours after journalists requested for comment, Fried’s team reportedly changed the Spanish and English sections of the website to more closely mirror each other, according to the publication.

“Our website copy, now updated, was in the process of being properly and professionally translated,” Max Flugrath, communications director for Fried’s campaign told Newsweek.

Newsweek was able to archive the website before it was changed. According to the publication, the original Spanish page on Fried’s campaign site was 95 words long, and the only policy mentioned was Fried’s support for legalizing marijuana. In contrast, the English page notes Fried’s more leftist agenda, including criminal justice reform, gun control, and the environment.

Florida has the third largest population of Latino voters behind California and Texas, according to a Pew Research Center study. Overall, the Latino population made up a record 17% of the state’s voters in 2020.

The Hispanic vote in Florida has been shifting more toward the GOP in recent years. While former President Donald Trump did not win the Latino vote in the 2020 election, Cubans were overwhelming split 56-41 for the Republican incumbent compared to an even 49-49 split between non-Cuban voters, AS/COA reported.

Biden Minimum Wage Czar Demands Federal $15 Wage, But Students Under Him As Dean Make $13.50

While President Joe Biden’s nominee for Wage and Hour Administrator at the Department of Labor frequently calls for a $15 an hour minimum wage, the nominee has not called for students at the university he works at to receive the same.

David Weil, who Biden announced as a federal nominee last week, has backed a $15 an hour wage while not instituting such a policy at Brandeis, where he is a dean and professor. The group that alerted The Federalist to this contradiction is the American Accountability Foundation.

According to the Office of Student Financial Services, the minimum wage at the private school in Massachusetts is $13.50 an hour, the same minimum wage set by the state. Given the dean’s influence and position as a staunch progressive, it is curious why he would work at a school that does not provide the same compensation he seemingly determines is necessary.
