I Went to Rehab for Alcoholism 18 Times. Only Psychedelics Helped

I met Amanda at a pain therapy clinic in Zurich last December. She was sitting on a chair, hands folded neatly in her lap – she’d come here with her husband Tim for one of her regular visits to neurologist Livia Granata, one of the few specialists in Switzerland offering psychedelic therapy.

British-born Amanda is 50 years old and has been an alcoholic for two decades. She also struggles with severe depression and anxiety stemming from childhood trauma. It took a lot for her to share her story, so she asked to be referred to on a first-name basis to protect her and her husband’s privacy.

For the past seven years, Amanda hasn’t lived in her flat with her partner and their children, but outside on the balcony. She stays in an improvised shelter her husband made for her, only going in to use the toilet – and the pandemic only further tightened the grip her anxiety disorders have on her life.

A year ago, Amanda probably wouldn’t have shown up for this appointment at all, either cancelling at the last minute or simply letting it pass. Over the years, she’s been through too many treatments – experimental therapies that brought little to no relief. But in April 2022, she found her way to the clinic – and to the first treatment she felt ever truly worked.

Tinker Air Force Base deaths: 17 people dead in 2023, military refuses to reveal causes

An Air Force base in Oklahoma is tight-lipped after 17 people have died since the beginning of 2023, with an advocate for military families saying she’d made inquiries about a possible rash of suicides.

Officials for the Air Force and the base have refused to reveal the nature of the deaths, saying only that there were ‘various causes.’

DailyMail.com has reached out to the base for an explanation or names of the personnel who have died – but officials did not respond in time for this report.

A number of the deaths are also still ‘under investigation,’ a spokesperson for the base said. A Military.com investigation suggested that ‘they had been informed of deaths connected to base this year including potential suicides.’

It’s not clear how many of the deaths were service members or what their role was at the base, which has over 30,000 personnel on site.

Ex-NYPD cop charged with tipping off gangbanger boyfriend about federal probe

An NYPD cop tipped off her Bronx gangbanger boyfriend about a federal probe — even giving up the name of a key witness and helping him try to dodge a murder rap, according to an indictment unsealed Wednesday.

Gina Mestre, 33, who was with the department until last year, “shamelessly” fed confidential information to the “Shooting Boys” gang after getting into “an intimate relationship” with the crew’s leader, Manhattan federal prosecutors alleged.

The disgraced officer even tipped off her alleged beau, Andrew “Caballo” Done, about a police manhunt for him following the September 2020 shooting of a rival gang member, the four-count indictment claims.

“Gina Mestre shamelessly exploited her position of public trust to assist gang members in her own NYPD precinct that were terrorizing the Bronx by committing robbery, murders, drug trafficking and other acts of violence,” US Attorney Damian Williams said in a statement.

“The indictment unsealed today alleges that the defendant abused her position as an NYPD police officer by, among other things, obstructing a federal grand jury investigation into the gang and assisting the gang’s leader in evading capture for a cold-blooded murder committed in broad daylight,” Williams said.

Mestre, of Mohegan Lake in Westchester County, joined New York’s Finest in 2013 and was assigned to the Public Safety Unit at the 52nd Precinct in the Bronx.

BOLSANARO’S BUTCHERY: CIA FINGERPRINTS ARE ALL OVER BRAZIL’S INDIGENOUS GENOCIDE

From April 1964 to March 1985, a military junta ruled Brazil with an iron fist. Its crimes against humanity throughout this period were extensive, including institutionalized torture, imprisonment, forced disappearances and mass murder. Typically, the victims were political opponents of the regime, although the country’s indigenous population was a specific, dedicated target.

In most cases, their crime was objecting to economic “reform” projects that destroyed their homes or simply living in the wrong place at the wrong time. With the backing and direction of the World Bank, the junta forcibly displaced indigenous people and desecrated their lands to extract valuable natural resources for Western capital. Along the way, these communities routinely endured brutal repression, pogroms, and massacres.

Much of this barbarity was doled out by the Rural Indigenous Guard, a lethal elite police force covertly created by the CIA. The Agency also constructed a system of indigenous prisons, which played a pivotal and horrifying role in the junta’s policies of indigenous cleansing.

Speculation Swirls Over Reports Of Obama-Linked Hawaii Official’s Refusal To Release Water During Blaze

Hard questions are being asked about what role a Hawaiian water official connected to President Barack Obama had in delaying fire prevention measures that could have reduced opportunities for the Maui blaze to rapidly spread and take the lives of over 100 individuals.

M. Kaleo Manuel, a Hawaii water official and an “Asian Pacific Leader” with the Obama Foundation, gained notoriety in the days following the horrific fires after a previous video was unearthed showing the water throttler explaining his philosophy that water should not be seen as “something we can use” but rather an “earthly manifestation of a god.”

“Native Hawaiians treated water as one of the earthly manifestations of a god… So that reverence for a resource and reciprocity in relation is important to our well-being. Over time, we’ve become used to looking at water as something that we use, and not necessarily something that we revere,” said Manuel.

“If we can look as islanders at how we reconnect to those traditional value sets. My motto is, let water connect us and not divide us… It requires true conversations about equity.”

Socialist Scholar Cornel West Owes $500,000 In Taxes

Socialist professor and presidential candidate Cornel West wants “massive investments” including “free college tuition” and “Medicare for All” as part of his presidential campaign.

Just don’t expect him to chip in on the bill.

According to the Daily Beast, and confirmed by West, the Union Theological Seminary professor owes over half a million dollars in taxes.

The Green Party candidate has “more than $500,000 in outstanding federal tax liens lodged against him in two states” dating back to 2005, according to the liberal news outlet.

He explained, when asked on Monday by commentator Charlamagne Tha God, that not paying taxes is part of his “gangster proclivities.”

“They’re not wasting no time attacking you because now they’re saying you owe a half a million dollars in taxes and they’re trying to say it’s hypocrisy on your part,” the commentator said.

“Because you spent so much of your life advocating for higher taxes on the wealthy. I’m like ‘I ain’t never heard any of this about Dr. Cornel West before but now all of a sudden he’s running for president,’” he said. “Everything’s coming out the woodwork,” another host said.

“Absolutely, absolutely, and the thing is, I mean, I told you before, I got so much gangster in me, I was a gangster before I met Jesus. I ain’t nothing but a reformed sinner with gangster proclivities,” West said on the show.

“Partly it’s because I do like to give to loved ones and others too,” he said. “But I take responsibility for it too. But it don’t make no difference to me.”

“They want to use it as a distraction. Why don’t you keep the focus on the suffering that I’m highlighting?” he told Charlamagne Tha God recently.

Instead of focusing on West’s legal obligation to pay all his taxes, the obligation that all Americans share, the media should instead focus on “the suffering” people in Appalachia, Chicago and Harlem.

“This is just a matter of trying to hit you below the belt and keep the distraction,” he added.”

He appeared to deny a report from the Daily Beast that he also owes $45,000 in child support, saying the outlet was “lying about his kids.”

A 13-Year-Old Girl Is Apparently The New Leader Of the JFK-QAnon Cult

When Michael Protzman, the leader of the QAnon cult that believes former President John F. Kennedy and his son JFK Jr. are still alive, died in June, people hoped the end was near for the group. The family members of those who joined the cult hoped it would disband so that their loved ones would finally return home.

But instead, a new leader has seemingly emerged: a 13-year-old girl known to her followers only as “Tiny Teflon,” the name of the Telegram channel she uses to communicate with her followers. According to multiple live chats on Telegram reviewed by VICE News, Protzman appears to have groomed the girl as his protege, hosting her on his live chats on Telegram, where he had tens of thousands of followers.

Many of Protzman’s followers have permanently broken family relationships, emptied their bank accounts, and destroyed their lives to follow his wild conspiracy theories. And now it seems they are ready to do the same for a child, whose real identity is not known.

Tiny Teflon has created her own channel, conducted live streams with followers, and most worrying of all, has announced her plan to indoctrinate more children into the cult by teaching them how to decode real word events using the movement’s bastardized form of Jewish numerology, gematria.

“I definitely think I’m gonna have more kids involved in this,” Tiny said during a live chat on her channel on August 6. “Maybe they could share more code, because I don’t want to be talking the entire time when I do this show in the future. So I’ll definitely think of having kids share codes and teach what they know too.”

“It’s worrying to see this young girl be put on a pedestal by a bunch of adults after the passing of Protzman,” an open-source researcher who uses the nickname “Karma” to avoid being targeted by the members of Protzman’s cult, which she has tracked closely since its inception, told VICE News.

When alive, Protzman used gematria to convince his followers that he could see into the future and communicate with everyone from former president Donald Trump to JFK Jr. Before becoming a cult leader, Protzman  was a demolition expert in Washington state. He first gained attention in November 2021 when he convinced his followers that JFK and JFK Jr. were going to reappear in Dealey Plaza in downtown Dallas. Around a thousand people traveled from across the country to Dallas only to be disappointed by the Kennedys’ failure to appear.

Despite this, many of Protzman’s dedicated followers remained loyal, and followed him across the country for the next 18 months. Many of them destroyed their families and finances in the process. Protzman continued to claim JFK Jr. was alive and continually changed his predictions, at one point claiming Trump was just JFK Jr. in disguise, and finally, shortly before his death, claiming he was in fact the reincarnated JFK Jr.

Protzman died on June 30 in a Rochester hospital as a result of “multiple blunt force injuries” after he “lost control of his dirt bike” according to a report from the Southern Minnesota Regional Medical Examiner’s Office, which was obtained by VICE News.

People Who Use Marijuana Are Half As Likely To Develop Type 2 Diabetes, New Meta-Analysis Finds

People who use marijuana are about half as likely to develop type 2 diabetes, according to a new meta-analysis of scientific studies.

Researchers at the Tabriz University of Medical Sciences in Iran published the study in the journal Phytotherapy Research this month, expanding on the scientific literature examining the effects of cannabis on glucose regulation and insulin secretion that are tied to the chronic disease.

To investigate the relationship, the researchers analyzed 11 relevant surveys and four epidemiological cohort studies that were published in scientific databases such as PubMed up through July 1, 2022.

They found that the incidence of type 2 diabetes among people who consume marijuana “was 0.48 times lower than in those without cannabis exposure.”

“A protective effect of cannabis consumption on the odds of diabetes mellitus type 2 development has been suggested,” the paper says. “Yet given the considerable interstudy heterogeneity, the upward trend of cannabis consumption and cannabis legalization is recommended to conduct studies with higher levels of evidence.”

Prior studies have similarly linked marijuana to lower rates of type 2 diabetes, which is the version of the disease where patients produce low amounts of insulin and can become resistant to the hormone.

Desperate search for Beverly Hills musician Camela Leierth-Segura – who co-wrote Katy Perry song ‘Walking on Air’ – after she vanished nearly two months ago

A singer-songwriter known for her work with Katy Perry has been missing for more than six weeks and her family and friends are desperately asking the public for help finding her.

Camela Leierth-Segura, 48, and her vehicle were last seen in the middle of the night on June 30 in Beverly Hills, California. Her 19-year-old cat is also missing.

According to ABC 7, Leierth – who is originally from Nederluleå, Sweden – has since been evicted and dead plants have been spotted on the balcony of her apartment.

‘We are extremely worried about her safety, and despite our best efforts, the local authorities have not been able to locate her,’ one friend posted on Instagram.

Leierth is best known for her collaboration with ‘Teenage Dream’ singer Katy Perry.

In 2013, the Swedish-native co-wrote the song ‘Walk On Air’ for Perry’s ‘Prism’ album.

The song, released as a single, entered the iTunes chart at number one in the United States and was described as having a 90s sound.

In an interview with MTV at the time, Perry said of the single: ‘It’s my favorite song off the record.’

DailyMail.com reached out to the singer’s representatives and label for a statement on Leierth’s disappearance but could not be reached for comment Wednesday.

Leierth was first reported missing in July by her close friend, Liz Montgomery, who found her silence uncharacteristic.

Montgomery said the initial sign of trouble was that no one close to the singer-songwriter had heard from her at all, including her family back home in Sweden.

Leierth’s sister reached out to Montgomery – who lives in New York – to help find her.

‘When I woke up in the morning there was already a message saying “Hey, have you talked to Camela?”‘ Montgomery said, recalling the day she first worried.

Chief psychologist of California children’s hospital claims kids can identify as ‘gender minotaurs’ as she celebrates ‘revolution’ by youth who ‘know more than we do’

A Chief psychologist at a California children’s hospital has claimed children can identify as ‘gender minotaurs’.

Dr. Diane Ehrensaft is the director of mental health and chief psychologist at the UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital gender development center.

Her research focuses on the effects of puberty blockers and hormones on children.

First reported by Fox News, Ehrensaft has made claims that children can identify as gender hybrids, which include  ‘gender minotaur’.

The Minotaur, in Greek mythology, was a creature which had the body of a man but the head of a bull.

In a list of terms published by Ehrensaft, in a paper titled The Gender Affirmative Model, she refers to different ways in which children have described themselves.

One of these included ‘gender minotaur’, which is described as being a descriptor for a child who sees themselves as one gender on top, and another on their bottom half.

Other claims made by the psychologist include what she describes as a ‘gender prius’.

This label is said to have been explained to her by a child who looked like a boy at the front, but had a long braid tied in their hair with a pink bow.

According to the paper, the child said: ‘You see – I’m a Prius, a boy in the front, a girl in the back. A hybrid.’

Other terms include a ‘gender smoothie’ which is described as a variation of being gender fluid.

One teenager described it to Ehrensaft as: ‘You take everything about gender, throw it in the blender, press the button, and you’ve got me—a gender smoothie.’
