California Speaker: I Will Consider Withholding Federal Taxes from The Trump Administration If They Slash Federal Funding from My State

One of the most powerful Democrats in California is shooting his mouth off about breaking federal law after learning the Trump Administration might be about to drop the hammer on his state.

Multiple sources told CNN that the Trump administration is preparing to cancel a large portion of federal funding for California, which might begin as soon as today.

According to the outlet, Team Trump is specifically looking at entirely cutting off federal grant funding for the University of California and California State University systems.

As TGP readers know, President Trump has been rightfully livid over California’s open defiance of federal law, particularly over transgender issues.

President Trump issued an executive order in February, which was supposed to ensure that biological men could not compete in women’s sports. But California and other blue states have decided to defy Trump’s order and continue to allow men to compete against women.

White House spokesman Kush Desai released the following statement Friday afternoon, slamming California but adding that no final decision has been made.

“No taxpayer should be forced to fund the demise of our country. “No final decisions, however, on any potential future action by the Administration have been made, and any discussion suggesting otherwise should be considered pure speculation.”

Upon reading this, the speaker of the California State Assembly, Robert Rivas, erupted in anger and threatened various responses, including withholding federal taxes from the federal government.

“This is unconstitutional and vindictive,” Rivas wrote on BlueSky. “We’re the nation’s economic engine and the largest donor state, and deserve our fair share.”

“I’ll use every legal and constitutional tool available to defend CA — we must look at every option, including withholding federal taxes.”

Kash Patel exposes Hunter’s laptop story and the 51 “intelligence” agents

With the Hunter Biden laptop story, 51 former intelligence agents testified that this… Thank you for bringing that up. Tell me how crazy that is.

If you want to talk about the ultimate weaponization and total disinformation combining forces, right? A week before the election, when Biden and Trump were competing—maybe one or two weeks before, right? The guy who used to be in the intelligence community says, “Oh, we have to bring the Hunter Biden laptop into play.” Knowing it was fake.

And they come out and basically say that the FBI, even though they knew Hunter Biden’s laptop was a legitimate piece of investigatory material and were examining it—and at that time knew they were going to pursue criminal leads from it—remained silent. They just set it aside. The intelligence community steps in and says that this information needs to get out.

Because the guy who would end up becoming Biden’s Secretary of State was advising him and saying, “Hey, we need to squash this Hunter Biden laptop issue. Let’s run the Russiagate play. Let’s do the Crossfire Hurricane operation.” So they go to the CIA and then-director Gina Haspel who—by the way—in government, there are no coincidences. Gina Haspel was chief of station in London when Russiagate was launched there. We can come back to that. Now she’s CIA Director, and we’re on the eve of an election, and there’s this thing called a pre-publication process.

So when I had to publish my book as a public servant, or whatever you want to call it, it had to go through review and everybody had to read it and trim it down, whatever. It takes forever—even if it’s a two-page document. The 51 intel letter was written by these same people, some of whom participated in Russiagate. And the person who has to authorize that is the CIA Director before it goes public. Do you know how long she took to authorize the release of that letter, knowing the information in the letter was false, knowing a laptop with Hunter Biden’s data on it was real, accurate, and being investigated by the FBI for criminal purposes? Eight hours. Eight hours.

They released that barrage of disinformation in eight hours. And what did we do? We’ve spent the last four years proving it—and we have more information coming on that too. Proving how those former Secretaries of Defense, CIA, NSA, deputy directors, the intelligence community—all came together to politicize intelligence once again because they got caught on Russiagate and didn’t care. And they wanted President Biden to win so badly that they were willing to lie to the American people. And they did it again. That is insane.

Don Lemon and Kathy Griffin Argue Trump and Elon Musk Stole The Election Through Vote Tampering — ‘Something Was Off’

The disgraced comedian Kathy Griffin has argued that President Trump stole the 2024 election through vote tampering.

In an interview with former CNN anchor Don Lemon, Griffin outlined a conspiracy theory in which Trump and Elon Musk tampered with the election in a way Democrats did in the 2020 presidential race.

Lemon responded by endorsing her theory.

Here is a transcript of the exchange:

GRIFFIN: Are you ready for a tinfoil hat moment?

LEMON: Yes.

GRIFFIN: Okay, I’m just going to be bold and say this. And, you know, you can take issue with this all you want.

I do not think he won in a free and fair election. How do you like that, lefties? Yeah, I said it. I’m Kathy Griffin, and I do not think Trump won in a free and fair election. I believe there was tampering. I don’t know. I don’t know if it was the Elon connection.

I don’t know if it was just a few good old boys in the South who didn’t do that. You know, I mean, what they accuse us of, if you remember Ruby Freeman and Shay Moss, what they tend to accuse us of is what we find out they themselves did. So I know I’ll take heat for this, and people are going to say I’m crazy, but I’ve been called crazy before, Don.

LEMON:. Your gut is telling you something happened.

GRIFFIN: My gut is telling me that something was up with them.

LEMON: You’re not far off. I won’t say that I disagree with you. But, you know, I’m an evidence person. I’d like to see the evidence. I think something was off.

And especially, you know, when someone said, oh, we’ve got this. And, you know, how do you know that? How do you know we’ve got this? I don’t need your vote or anything like that. It’s a little bit odd.

GRIFFIN: This will be the last election. We won’t have any elections after this.

LEMON: Vote for me and you won’t have to vote again anymore. And also, you know, as you said, every accusation is a confession.

Nearly Everything That We’ve Been Told about Genes and Autism Is Wrong

The University of Sydney caps doctoral theses at 80,000 words (excluding references). The theory is that external reviewers don’t want to read more than that (true!). One can apply to the Dean to increase the word limit to 100,000, which is what I did. But my doctoral thesis, as initially written, was closer to 140,000 words. So I had to cut three chapters that I really liked — the political economy of theories of genetic causation, how evidence-based medicine was captured by Big Pharma, and the history of the regulation of mercury.

I believe that some of the information in those excised chapters would be useful to policymakers in Washington, D.C. trying to figure out how to deal with the epidemics of chronic disease in children. So today I am sharing my original (slightly updated), never-before-seen, chapter 6, which challenges the entire paradigm of genetic determinism in disease causation.

I. Introduction

In the first chapter, I showed that the rise in autism prevalence is primarily a story of environmental triggers (with some smaller percentage due to diagnostic expansion and genetics). The story of how genetic theories became the dominant narrative in the autism debate thus needs to be explained. The hegemony of genetic theories of disease causation comes at a tremendous cost to society because they crowd out more promising alternatives. This problem is particularly acute in connection with autism, where genetic research swallows up the vast majority of research funding — and has for more than twenty years. So, one of the keys to effectively addressing the autism epidemic will be to demonstrate the flaws in the genetic approach to disease causation and replace it with a more comprehensive ontology that has better explanatory power.

To put this debate in context, I want to recap the genetic argument in connection with autism as I have presented it thus far. In the 1990s, it was routine for scientists, doctors, and policymakers to assure worried parents that autism was genetic. To the extent that anyone ventured a guess, the explanation was that autism was 90% genetic, 10% environmental. Then the state of California commissioned 16 of the top geneticists in the country (Hallmayer et al. 2011) to study birth records of all twins born in the state between 1987 and 2004. Hallmayer et al. (2011) concluded that at most, genetics explains 38% of the autism epidemic, and they pointed out twice that this was likely an overestimate. Blaxill (2011) argues that the eventual consensus will be 90% environmental, 10% genetic. And in chapter 5, I showed a model from Ioannidis, (2005b, p. 700) that suggests that only 1/10th of 1% of “discovery oriented exploratory research studies” (which include nutrition and genetic studies with massive numbers of competing variables) are replicable.

And yet, a disproportionate share of federal research money in connection with autism is going to study genetic theories of disease causation. In 2013, the Interagency Autism Coordinating Committee spent $308 million on autism research across all federal agencies and private funders participating in research (IACC, 2013a). This is a shockingly low amount to spend on research given estimates that autism is currently costing the US $268 billion a year (Leigh and Du, 2015).

When one drills down into how the IACC spent the $308 million, it is largely focused on genetic research (especially if one examines the funding in the funding category “What Caused This To Happen And Can This Be Prevented?”) (IACC, 2013b). This is in spite of the fact that several groups of leading doctors and scientists including Gilbert and Miller (2009), Landrigan, Lambertini, and Birnbaum (2012), the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (2013), and Bennett et al. (2016) have all concluded that autism and other neurodevelopment disorders are likely caused by environmental triggers.

Snarky Democrat Rep’s Interrogation of Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick Backfires When She Makes an Embarrassing Blunder While Discussing Bananas

A Democratic member of Congress earlier this week made such an embarrassing mistake regarding one of the world’s most famous fruits that one could justify an IQ test for certain members of Congress.

Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick was testifying before the House Appropriations Committee on Thursday to defend Trump’s tariff policy when a snarky Rep. Madeline Dean (D-PA) decided to try to entrap him with a question about tariffs on bananas while holding the fruit.

After Lutnick calmly stated the answer (10%), Dean fired back and said Walmart had already increased the tariffs. Unbothered, Lutnick pointed out that there is no tariff for people who manufacture in America.

Immediately following Lutnick’s remark, Dean face-planted with a comment that is news to people in several states, including Hawaii and Florida.

TRANSCRIPT:

DEAN: What’s the tariff on bananas? Americans, by the way, LOVE bananas… What’s the tariff on bananas?

LUTNICK: The tariff on bananas would be representative of the countries that produce them.

DEAN: And what’s that tariff?

LUTNICK: Generally 10%.

DEAN: Walmart has already increased the cost of bananas by 8%.

LUTNICK: If countries do deals with us, that tariff will go to zero…

DEAN: But the cost is on the American consumer now…Mr. Secretary, I believe you know better. I believe you recognize that a trade deficit is nothing to fear…I wish you would show that truth to this administration.

LUTNICK: There’s no uncertainty if you build in America…There will be no tariff.

DEAN: We can’t produce bananas in America…We cannot build bananas in America.

The truth is that bananas have been grown in America for decades, with the first banana farm established in 1876 in Florida, near Silver Lake.

Today, bananas are grown in several states, with Hawaii producing the most. Florida ranks second.

Other states, such as California, Texas, Louisiana, and Arizona, produce bananas as well, albeit nowhere near the scale of Hawaii and Florida due to their climate.

Florida is also a major exporter of bananas, particularly specialty ones such as Thai and cooking bananas.

Lawyer Who Bulletproofed Biden Bucks Now Fighting Trump Admin To Keep Gravy Train Rolling

A former Biden administration official who made it more difficult for agencies to terminate certain grants is now backing several legal efforts to ensure money awarded before President Donald Trump took office keeps flowing to left-wing organizations.

Daniel Jacobson, who was previously general counsel of Biden’s Office of Management and Budget (OMB), is opposing the Trump administration in cases that seek to restore billions in Biden administration grants from the Department of Education (ED), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). He also filed a lawsuit against OMB.

Jacobson’s involvement “raises many questions,” Michael Chamberlain, director of Protect the Public’s Trust, told the Daily Caller News Foundation. He noted that former government lawyers have “obligations regarding what legal matters they can work on after leaving government service, under both federal ethics law and under professional rules of conduct, particularly as those rules have been adopted by the DC Bar, where Mr. Jacobson is a member.”

“If a government lawyer were to learn client confidences or secrets during his representation of an agency and use such information in litigation against that very same agency, it could very well implicate these ethics obligations,” Chamberlain said. “Although it’s not clear that has happened here, on the face of it, the situation raises many questions.”

Jacobson did not respond to requests for comment.

Biden’s EPA hid comments from Dept. of Energy that undermined key part of EPA power plant rule

Former President Joe Biden, as well as his Democratic predecessor Barack Obama, pledged to “follow the science” when it came to climate policies. Since President Donald Trump assumed office — a man accused of waging a “war on science” — revelations have shown that, when it came to previous administrations, sometimes science was either shaped to serve preferred policies or dismissed when it didn’t support them.

Energy Secretary Chris Wright confirmed in March that the Biden-Harris administration had completed a study on liquefied natural gas exports prior to enacting a pause on export permits, the stated intention of which was to complete such a study. Wright stated that the Biden-Harris administration didn’t like what the study said, so they set out to produce one that would support the climate policies they wanted.

Emails exchanged at the Obama-era EPA in 2009 showed that the so-called endangerment finding, which has been the basis for much of the EPA’s regulation of carbon dioxide emissions ever since, was a foregone conclusion even before the agency announced the finding.

It appears that the Biden-Harris administration hid comments that would have undermined its Clean Power Plan 2.0 rule (CPP2), which the Trump administration is currently reviewing. The EPA had sought comments from the Department of Energy’s National Energy Technology Lab (NETL) on the efficacy of carbon capture technology prior to proposing the rule. These comments, which were somehow scrubbed from the administrative record, disputed a key claim the rule is based on. Those missing comments, a legal expert says, could provide a basis for the rule’s repeal.

Musk Teases Launching New Political Party — Says ‘America Party’ Has a ‘Nice Ring to It’

Amid his extremely dramatic public outbursts against President Donald Trump, Elon Musk has floated the idea of forming a new political party in the United States to represent individuals who do not identify with either of the existing parties.

Musk polled X users whether there should be a new party “that actually represents the 80% in the middle.” The results were an overwhelming “yes,” after over five million votes.

After the poll, Musk wrote, “The people have spoken. A new political party is needed in America to represent the 80% in the middle! And exactly 80% of people agree,” with a laughing emoji

The tech billionaire concluded, “This is fate.”

Irish Government Admits No Free Speech Impact Assessment for “Misinformation” Laws

Irish authorities have moved ahead with extensive legislation aimed at tackling “misinformation,” yet they have not examined whether such measures might undermine free expression. The Department responsible for communications, media, and environmental policy has acknowledged that no analysis has been carried out to assess the consequences for free speech.

Responding to a media query from Gript, the Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications plainly admitted: “The Department has not undertaken any analysis or research on the potential impact of mis/disinformation laws on free speech.”

Despite this lack of evaluation, the government continues to defend its strategy. Speaking outside Government Buildings, Taoiseach (Prime Minster) Micheál Martin insisted the effort to curb online falsehoods is justified, arguing that some speech doesn’t merit protection. “It’s not freedom of speech, really, when it’s just a blatant lie and untruth, which can create a lot of public disquiet, as we have seen,” he said.

Martin downplayed the idea that regulating disinformation represents any serious threat to expressive freedoms, stating: “There are very strong protections in our constitution and in our laws and freedom of speech.” He added, “I wouldn’t overstate the impact on clamping down on blatant lies online as a sort of incursion or an undermining of freedom of speech.”

When pressed on whether the absence of impact studies was irresponsible, Martin referenced a recent RTÉ radio segment about social media claims related to a shooting in Carlow. “There was a researcher on identifying the blatant misinformation on truths and lies surrounding what happened in Carlow,” he said. “So I do think it’s absolutely important that government focuses on this issue.”

33 Potential Noncitizens Referred For Investigation After Voting In Texas’ 2024 Elections

Nearly three dozen “potential noncitizens” have been referred for investigation after casting ballots in Texas’ 2024 elections, the state’s elections chief announced Thursday.

According to a press release from the office of Texas Secretary of State Jane Nelson, the 33 individuals whose citizenship remains in question are recorded as having voted in the Lone Star State’s 2024 November general election. Their names have since been given to the state attorney general’s office for further investigation.

The discovery, according to the release, was made after Texas was given access to the Department of Homeland Security’s SAVE database. As described by the federal agency, SAVE is “an online service for registered federal, state, territorial, tribal, and local government agencies to verify immigration status and naturalized/acquired U.S. citizenship of applicants seeking benefits or licenses.”

The system was made available to states after President Trump issued an elections-related executive order in March, which, in part, directed the DHS to “share database information with States upon request so they can fulfill” their duties of “maintain[ing] an accurate and current Statewide list of every legally registered voter in the State.”

“Gaining access to this database has been a game-changer. Not only have we been able to identify individuals who should not have voted in the last election, we have also been able to confirm naturalization of dozens more,” Nelson said in a statement.
