NYPD Detectives Denied Treatment At Hospital After Being ‘Mistaken For ICE’

NYPD detectives say they were treated with disrespect at a Brooklyn hospital after going to the emergency room for medical care following an on-the-job incident.

Police officials said the detectives arrived at NYU Langone Health in Cobble Hill but were confronted by security guards who questioned their identities and why they were there.

Sources told Eyewitness News the detectives were in plainclothes and explained that one of them needed treatment for a minor injury sustained during a scuffle with a suspect. Despite that explanation, they were allegedly detained, and one detective was initially refused entry because he was carrying his service weapon.

The encounter quickly angered union leaders.

“No individual-especially NYPD Detectives injured in the line of duty-should ever be subjected to such treatment,” the detectives’ union said in a statement.

The detectives, who were not identified, believe hospital staff may have mistaken them for Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents and initially tried to turn them away.

ICE agents often wear tactical gear marked “Police” but do not always display badges or other identification. NYPD detectives, even when in plainclothes, carry gold shields.

The incident comes amid heightened political tensions surrounding ICE enforcement in New York City.

Appearing on “The View” on Tuesday, Mayor Zohran Mamdani said ICE should be abolished.

“We’re seeing a government agency that is supposed to be enforcing some kind of immigration law, but instead what it’s doing is terrorizing people no matter their immigration status, no matter the facts of the law, no matter the facts of the case,” he said.

The mayor said Wednesday that he had not been aware of the hospital incident until asked about it by a reporter.

“That’s the first I’m hearing about it but it’s something I’ll follow up on,” he said.

2 ex-NYPD cops sentenced for sexually assaulting passed-out woman, as survivor details trauma: ‘I feel nothing but anger and rage’

Two former NYPD cops were sentenced to probation for sexually assaulting an incapacitated woman after a night out at a Bronx bar — as the survivor of the heinous crime urged others to report their stories, no matter the title of their assailant.

Julio Alcantara-Santiago, 40, and Christian Garcia, 32, were sentenced on Friday at Bronx Supreme Criminal Court after taking a plea agreement for the assault that unfolded on July 9, 2023.

Alcantara-Santiago appeared nervous in an orange blazer and pinstriped pants as he was sentenced to six years of sex offender probation.

Garcia sported a two-piece navy suit and glasses as he accepted one year of probation and was ordered to complete a behavioral treatment program.

On the night of June 8, 2023, the unidentified woman went out with co-workers at Zona De Cuba lounge in Grand Concourse, according to a victim impact statement she read aloud to the courtroom.

After going up to a rooftop area of the establishment and having some drinks, the next thing she recalled was waking up to being sexually assaulted by two men in a stranger’s home.

“The next thing I remember is slightly waking up in someone’s home. And then what hurts more is that I see two men over me and feel hands in certain parts of my body,” she said.

“I start to make movement so that the men can stop. I’m terrified and scared that if I say something or if they notice that I’m awake while they’re doing certain things, they will harm me or even kill me,” she told the courtroom.

She said she continued to lie there and fell asleep, and woke up the next morning, realizing she was still in the strange apartment near the lounge.

After desperately calling her sister and best friend for help, she escaped the home and decided to go to a local Bronx hospital to be evaluated. There, she was given a rape kit and spoke to multiple police officers, the victim said.

The two officers were arrested in April 2024 after surveillance footage helped connect them to the crime. Both cops were suspended without pay, the NYPD said at the time.

NYPD Found Box of Abandoned Police Uniforms Just Days Before Mamdani Was Sworn In

The discovery might have been uniforms, but the theories about it are all over the map.

New York City police are investigating just how a box full of NYPD blues showed up abandoned this week near a cemetery in Brooklyn, according to the New York Daily News.

The fact that it occurred only days before the infamously anti-police Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani was sworn in only added fuel to the fire.

According to the newspaper, the box was reported by a 911 caller about 8:40 p.m. Tuesday.

Video posted to social media showed police officers combing through the clothing, which was eventually moved to the 66th Precinct station for safety, the New York Daily News reported.

Authorities are trying to establish just how the unusual find came about, but that didn’t stop online speculation.

Some users of the social media platform X suggested it was a sign of upcoming resignations from police who don’t want to serve under a Mamdani administration.

The Fearmongering of the NYPD Reaches Laughable Levels

The NYPD has a lot of presence on social media sites like Facebook. There, they will post about various busts they make, much like any other department. Because of the size of the NYPD, though, these posts are often made through accounts for individual precincts.

And sometimes, they post some outright silliness, especially when it comes to firearms.

It’s not a replica that could have been modified to fire live ammo. It’s not even a starter pistol that could, theoretically, be converted. It’s a cap gun wrapped in electrical tape to hide some of the more obviously plastic pieces.

And honestly, considering it was found during an arrest, that’s fine. They caught a couple of thieves in the act, and because of the way they’ve modified this toy to look more realistic, it’s entirely possible that this either has been used in an armed robbery or would have been used for one. Confiscating it is fine under the circumstances, I suppose.

What bothers me is that they called this an illegal gun.

It’s not. It’s not a gun. It’s a toy. It’s a toy that can’t even really be modified into a live firearm.

NYPD on MANHUNT for WNBA sex-toy throwing suspect in Beavis and Butthead shirt

Police are looking for a man who threw a lime-green sex toy during a WNBA New York Liberty home game, narrowly missing a 12-year-old girl, according to the NYPD.

The incident happened Tuesday at Barclays Center during the Liberty’s matchup against the Dallas Wings. Security footage released by Crime Stoppers shows the suspect wearing a “Beavis and Butthead” T-shirt, a red and black hat, black shorts, and displaying tattoos on both arms.

Witnesses said the object was launched from a higher row in section 116, where the girl was seated with her mother. “The object was thrown from someone much higher up but definitely in the same section,” a fan in the area told the New York Post. “When it landed, the girl started screaming/freaking out (understandably) for like 30 [seconds] and got the attention of most people within the surrounding rows.”

The sex toy did not make it to the court but instead landed near a mother and her child. Barclays Center staff removed it quickly, and the game continued. The Liberty went on to defeat the Wings 85–76.

This was one of two WNBA games that night where a similar incident occurred. In Los Angeles, Indiana Fever player Sophie Cunningham was struck by a green sex toy during a game against the Sparks.

Hochul: NYPD Shortage ‘May Be’ Because People ‘Derogatory Toward Police’

During an interview with LI News Radio on Wednesday, New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) stated that there is a decrease in the number of NYPD officers and “people are not opting for these careers anymore, and part of it may be the fact that people have been very negative and derogatory toward police officers in the last few years.”

Hochul stated, [relevant remarks begin around 2:45] “Our forces are down. Sometimes, recruitment is hard. I’m finding the same thing with even corrections officers and state police, but people are not opting for these careers anymore, and part of it may be the fact that people have been very negative and derogatory toward police officers in the last few years. And so, as a young person thinking about what career they want, do they really want to go into this? And we have to restore the nobility associated with careers in law enforcement.”

She continued, “My husband was a federal prosecutor working with police for 30 years and my son’s a prosecutor, and so, we are a strong law enforcement family and support them, but they need to feel supported by the community as well. But I agree with you, we need to increase the ranks of NYPD. There’s — they are the best and without a doubt, and they need to have more reinforcements, which is why, when it came to a spike in subway crimes last year, I took state money, which is unprecedented, to cover the overtime costs of NYPD on all the overnight trains.”

Antifa Blog Posts Anonymous Confession Taking Credit for Arson Attack on Multiple NYPD Vehicles

An Antifa blog has posted an anonymous confession taking credit for an arson attack on multiple New York Police Department vehicles.

Eight NYPD vehicles parked near the 83rd precinct in Brooklyn were set on fire during the early morning of Thursday, June 12th.

A post to the anarchist blog “Never Sleep” titled “Solidarity with Los Angeles! Arson attack on multiple NYPD vehicles” was said to be written by the arsonist.

The post began, “Multiple NYPD cars were set on fire in the early, early morning of Thursday June 12th. The cars were just waiting there, practically begging for a new makeover! Tips on replicating this can be found on most counterinfo sites or just common knowledge; this was way easy. And so fun. Apologies to the community for the smell and the noise. And fuck you and haha to that pig—yeah, you know who you are.”

“There are many reasons for doing this, but for the sake of time it can be boiled down to four: 1) Solidarity with the uprising happening in Los Angeles where community and rebels are fighting Amerikkkan pig forces. From one cop city to another, death to the pigs and the surveillance state. 2) Revenge for the NYPD’s continuous physical and sexual harassment/assault of protestors, particularly femmes (incidents include removing of hijabs, forced nudity, degrading remarks, and more). 3) Something to show that repression breeds resistance and 4) Demonstrating that solidarity with the Palestinian resistance, immigrants, Black people doesn’t mean pointless demos where everyone gets arrested, endless marches to nowhere, and vapid chants. Solidarity means ATTACK! ATTACK! ATTACK! ATTACK!”

The post was signed, “Sincerely, the anarchists and the rats and the brats and the lawless.”

NYPD cop sexted with undercover officer posing as 14-year-old girl while overseeing youth outreach program: prosecutors

An NYPD officer tasked with community youth outreach is facing charges in two boroughs for allegedly sexting an undercover cop posing as a 14-year-old girl, according to prosecutors.

Travis N. DeSouza, 35, appeared in a Queens County court on Thursday, six months after appearing in a Brooklyn court, on child endangerment-related charges for sending sexually explicit messages to an undercover officer he believed to be just 14 years old, authorities said.

Last October, cops set out to ensnare DeSouza in a sting operation after suspecting him of unethical behavior in his capacity as a supervisor of the Police Explorers program, a NYPD youth outreach initiative for teens and young adults between 14 and 20 years old who want to pursue a career in law enforcement, according to a complaint.

An adult undercover officer approached DeSouza while posing as a youth participant in the Police Explorers program, telling the alleged perv that she was 14 years old and asking him for his phone number, the complaint stated.

“Of course, stop trying to bag me already,” the creepy cop replied to her request, according to the document.

Biden Hangover Part 2: NYPD Does The Meme, Arrests Illegals At Anti-ICE Protest

The idea had been percolating online for a week or more: why wouldn’t law enforcement officers simply show up at a rally supporting illegal aliens? Logically, there would likely be plenty of undocumented individuals present.

Turns out, the illegals turned out. So did the NYPD.

The difference between Trump’s first term and this one? Instead of chuckling and saying “That’s a good idea,” concerned parties emboldened by the Trump mandate are taking action.
