N.Y. Gov. Hochul humbled in sanctuary debate

Rep. Elise Stefanik took the sanctuary debate straight to New York Gov. Kathy Hochul on Thursday, leaving the Democrat struggling for answers over why illegal immigrants were running loose in communities to commit horrific crimes.

Ms. Stefanik ticked off appalling cases, including the rape of a 5-year-old, the rape of a 15-year-old and a sleeping woman lit on fire and burned alive in the subway — all of which were perpetrated by migrants shielded by sanctuary laws, the New York Republican said.

Ms. Hochul said she didn’t recall any of the cases — “I’m not familiar at this moment” — though she denounced the crimes themselves.

“These crimes are horrific,” she said. “In all of these cases, we would work with ICE to remove them.”

The exchange came during a hearing before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee with governors whose states have sanctuary policies.

One of the New York cases involved Raymond Rojas Basilio, an illegal immigrant set free by local authorities after serving a child molestation sentence.

Another involved a migrant accused of sneaking up on the sleeping woman and lighting her afire, killing her.

“ICE was told not to detain this individual, and he burned a woman alive on the subway, in Kathy Hochul’s New York,” Ms. Stefanik said.

Democrat Governors Are Rolling Back State-Funded Healthcare for Illegal Aliens – Why is the Left Not Protesting Them?

Some liberal Democrat governors are starting to roll back state (taxpayer) funded healthcare for people who are in the country illegally. Why is the left not protesting them? Could it be simply because the left gives Democrats a pass? Do they even know this is happening?

Under Gavin Newsom in California, the state is so broke that they are being forced to do this because there’s simply no money for it and the program came in costing billions of dollars more than people were told.

A trio of states with Democratic governors viewed as potential 2028 presidential candidates have taken steps in recent weeks to freeze or cut government-funded health care coverage for undocumented immigrants.

Democratic Govs. Gavin Newsom of California, JB Pritzker of Illinois and Tim Walz of Minnesota have largely attributed the proposals to budget shortfalls stemming from original plans to expand health care to immigrants without legal status.

Don’t Give Obama Credit For Cooking The Books To Inflate Deportations

Amid riots in Los Angeles and other cities nationwide against immigration enforcement, some have revived the old talking point that former President Barack Obama was the “Deporter-in-Chief.” The implication is if mass deportations under Obama didn’t spark outrage, why the fury now? But the claim gives credit to Obama where credit simply is not due. Obama didn’t preside over an unprecedented crackdown on illegal immigration — he redefined deportation statistics to make it look that way.

Back in 2014, the National Council of La Raza labeled Obama “deporter-in-chief.” The label has stuck around for years, with ABC News declaring in 2016 that “Obama Has Deported More People Than Any Other President” and NPR stating “Obama Leaves Office As ‘Deporter-In-Chief’” in 2017.

Even conservatives have peddled the label in a bid to undermine the left’s opposition to Trump’s deportation plan.

“Throwback to 2014: Obama was crowned ‘Deporter-in-Chief’ for kicking out record numbers of illegal immigrants. No riots. No street chaos. No cries of ‘authoritarianism.’ Just crickets and quiet headlines. But now that Trump is enforcing the law? Suddenly the left is staging ‘spontaneous’ protests nationwide,” Texas Rep. Wesley Hunt said in a post on X.

But the label was untrue.

ICE advances sole source deal with Palantir for new surveillance backbone

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is preparing to move forward with a sole-source contract to Palantir Technologies for the development of the next generation of its Investigative Case Management (ICM) system, which includes biometrics for migrant identification.

The ICM is essential to ICE Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), where it serves as the primary software environment for managing case files, exchanging intelligence, tracking investigative data across multiple agencies, and tracking people. It is intertwined with ICE’s controversial Immigration Lifecycle Operating System, ImmigrationOS, which was also developed by Palantir, much to the consternation of privacy and civil rights advocates. Palantir was co-founded by Trump supporter and Elon Musk pal Peter Thiel.

Designed to serve as the backbone of HSI’s investigative operations, ICM allows agents and analysts to create, track, and manage criminal investigations across a broad range of activities, including human trafficking, transnational crime, cybercrime, narcotics, financial offenses, and immigration violations.

ICM facilitates the documentation and organization of investigative case files, evidence, intelligence reports, and inter-agency communications, and supports advanced data analytics, link analysis, and cross-referencing of individuals, entities, locations, and events. Critically, ICM also integrates with other federal law enforcement systems, providing a shared investigative ecosystem where information can be securely accessed and disseminated across agencies in real time.

ICE describes ICM as a core operational tool that enhances decision-making, helps deconflict investigations, and enables collaboration within and beyond DHS. It is also used to generate and manage legal documents, manage leads and tips, and ensure proper chain-of-custody and evidentiary protocols for prosecutions.

ICE’s decision to pursue Palantir as its exclusive vendor was revealed in its “sources sought” notice released by ICE’s Office of Acquisition Management in collaboration with the Information Technology Division (ITD) and HSI. The notice, which invites feedback from industry stakeholders through June 20, emphasizes that ICE has already determined that Palantir is uniquely positioned to meet the agency’s technical, operational, and security needs.

This move follows several years of procurement planning and vendor evaluation, including an industry day held in June 2023 and a formal Request for Information in July 2024. More than fifty responses were received, and multiple commercial-off-the-shelf technology demonstrations were conducted. Despite the variety of participants, ICE ultimately concluded that only Palantir could meet the high-performance, high-security, and integration standards necessary to deploy the next iteration of ICM by its critical September 2026 deadline.

Florida Sheriff Backs Down From Threat To Not Enforce Immigration Laws After Rebuke From AG

A Florida county sheriff who had refused to enforce immigration laws yielded after state Attorney General James Uthmeier warned he could be removed from office. The move from Uthmeier comes as sheriff’s departments in places like Los Angeles refuse to help federal immigration officials and even fail to shut down pro-illegal immigration riots.

Earlier this year, Gov. Ron DeSantis said Florida partnered its law enforcement with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Despite this, Broward County’s sheriff, Dr. Gregory Tony, initially made it clear he would not assist the federal government in its enforcement of immigration law.

In the letter sent on Monday, Uthmeier sought “clarity on several problematic remarks” that Tony made during a June 3 budget meeting. He noted how Tony claimed “arresting illegal immigrants is ‘not within [the] purview’” of his office. 

“I would hope your statements were mere political posturing, but if not, your expressed position would constitute a failure of your statutory obligation to utilize ‘best efforts to support the enforcement of federal immigration law,’” Uthmeier wrote. If Tony did not uphold the law he swore an oath to enforce, he could be removed from office, the letter stated.

Bill Would Stop Giving Federal Handouts To Cities That Obstruct Immigration Law Enforcement

As the leftists running Los Angeles fail to get the leftists destroying Los Angeles under control, two Republican lawmakers aim to hold sanctuary governments accountable for impeding federal law enforcement officials from enforcing immigration law. 

Reps. Brandon Gill, R-Texas, and Sheri Biggs, R-S.C., on Tuesday introduced the Mobilizing Against Sanctuary Cities Act, which “blocks federal financial assistance for one year to any city or state that refuses to honor ICE [Immigration and Customs Enforcement] detainers.” The legislation also prohibits state and local governments restricting communications with the Department of Homeland Security. 

“If any city refuses to comply with the laws of our nation, blatantly works against the Department of Homeland Security, and wastes billions of taxpayer dollars shielding illegal aliens at the risk of American citizens, then they should be cut off from receiving even a penny of federal funding,” Gill said in a joint press release. 

A similar Republican-led bill introduced by Rep. Jeff Duncan of South Carolina died in the last session of Congress. 

Flouting the Law

Sanctuary cities, such as Los Angeles, bar local police from helping ICE and other federal law enforcement officials with immigration-related operations. In November, the Los Angeles City Council unanimously voted to officially designate the nation’s second-largest city a sanctuary city, “prohibiting city resources or personnel from being used to help federal enforcement of immigration laws,” NBC4 Los Angeles reported. The vote came two weeks after President Donald Trump was elected. 

“We have been a pro-immigrant city for a number of years, we know that there is a target on our back from this president-elect, and what we are doing here is we are hardening our defenses,” Councilman Bob Blumenfield said at the time, as reported by NBC4. “We are codifying our good policies on protecting immigrants.”

Grand Jury Returns Three-Count Indictment Charging Democrat Rep. LaMonica McIver with Forcibly Interfering with Federal Law Enforcement Officers – McIver Faces 17 YEARS IN PRISON

A federal grand jury returned a 3-count indictment charging Democrat Rep. LaMonica McIver with forcibly impeding and interfering with federal law enforcement officers at the Delaney Hall detention center in Newark last month.

McIver is facing a maximum of 17 years in prison for all three counts.

Last month a judge ordered McIver to surrender her firearms and said she cannot travel outside of the US.

Per US Attorney Alina Habba:

Today a federal grand jury seated in Newark, New Jersey returned a three-count indictment charging U.S. Representative LaMonica McIver with forcibly impeding and interfering with federal law enforcement officers. This indictment has a maximum penalty of 8 years for Count One, an additional maximum penalty of 8 years for Count Two, and a maximum penalty of 1 year in prison for Count Three.

As I have stated in the past, it is my Constitutional obligation as the Chief Federal Law Enforcement Officer for New Jersey to ensure that our federal partners are protected when executing their duties. While people are free to express their views for or against particular policies, they must not do so in a manner that endangers law enforcement and the communities those officers serve.

Today’s decision by the grand jury is the next step in a process that my Office will pursue to a just end.

FIRM Radicals Lead Well-Funded Network Of Anti-ICE Pirates

The Fair Immigration Reform Movement (FIRM) believes it’s unfair to round up criminal illegal immigrants and expel them from the country that they have invaded. FIRM “forcefully condemns” what it is painting as the Trump administration’s “increasingly authoritarian and violent campaign against immigrant communities and the people of the United States.” 

I asked the far-left activists if they:  

› “Forcefully condemn” the violence against federal law enforcement officials who are doing their jobs enforcing U.S. immigration laws? 

› “Forcefully condemn” the criminals identifying as protesters who are smashing up and burning down private and taxpayer-funded property in a wave of lawlessness? 

› “Forcefully condemn” violent, illegal aliens roving the streets in search of their next victims? 

› “Forcefully condemn” the rule of law that the vast majority of Americans voted for?

FIRM representatives did not respond to my questions. Surprised? They also had nothing to say about where they stand on the actual terrorizing of communities by violent gangs made up of illegal immigrants insanely granted “asylum” by the Biden administration.
