Martha’s Vineyard Shelter Coordinator’s Reply To Migrants Arriving Goes Viral: ‘They Have To’ Go ‘Somewhere Else’

Remarks from Lisa Belcastro, the coordinator for Martha’s Vineyard homeless shelter Harbor Homes, went viral Thursday after she was asked about 50 illegal immigrants arriving on the island.

Belcastro’s remarks come after Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis  sent the illegal immigrants to the island off the coast of Massachusetts on Wednesday.

“Yes, Florida can confirm the two planes with illegal immigrants that arrived in Martha’s Vineyard today were part of the state’s relocation program to transport illegal immigrants to sanctuary destinations,” an official for DeSantis’ office said in a statement. “States like Massachusetts, New York, and California will better facilitate the care of these individuals who they have invited into our country’ by incentivizing illegal immigration through their designation as ‘sanctuary states’ and support for the Biden Administration’s open border policies.”

“In this past legislative session the Florida Legislature appropriated $12 million to implement a program to facilitate the transport of illegal immigrants from this state consistent with federal law,” the official added.

The 50 illegal immigrants landing on the small island, where ultrawealthy progressives like former President Barack Obama live, sent the political Left into meltdown mode, with some falsely claiming that DeSantis had created “an ethnic cleansing program.”

Millions of illegal immigrants have poured into the U.S. under President Joe Biden, particularly into southern states, but the media and the political Left have shown less interest in addressing the humanitarian and national security crisis that has erupted under Biden.

When Belcastro was asked Thursday about what the “most difficult challenges” were that the island faced from the arrival of the 50 illegal immigrants, she responded: “The difficult challenges are, we have, at some point in time they have to move from here to somewhere else.”

“We cannot, we don’t have the services to take care of 50 immigrants,” she continued. “And we certainly don’t have housing. We’re in a housing crisis as we are on this island. And we don’t, we can’t house everyone here that lives here and work here. We don’t have housing for 50 more people.”

Illegal Aliens Will Now be Able to Obtain Driver’s Licenses in Massachusetts

Illegal alien residents of Massachusetts will soon have the ability to obtain driver’s licenses. Governor Charlie Baker, a Republican, recently vetoed a bill that would have done just that, but both chambers of the Massachusetts legislature voted to override the veto.

The law, titled the Work and Family Mobility Act, will go into effect on July 1, 2023. As of that date, illegal alien residents of Massachusetts will have to pass both a written and road test before obtaining a license.

Governor Baker explained that he vetoed the bill over concerns of illegal aliens voting in elections. In a statement explaining his veto, Baker also expressed concern over the burden it would place on state motor vehicle workers to verify foreign documents. “The RMV does not have the expertise or ability to verify the validity of many types of documents from other countries,” Baker said.

Baker’s concerns were ultimately overruled by overwhelming margins in each chamber. The deep blue state’s House voted 119-36 and the Senate 32-8 to override Baker, according to The Epoch Times.

In addition to overwhelming support in the state legislature, the bill secured the backing of the Massachusetts Major City Chiefs of Police and a majority of the state’s sheriffs and district attorneys. Supporters of the bill claim that allowing illegal aliens to obtain driver’s licenses will make roads safer for all Americans.

Massachusetts state Senator John Keenan, a Democrat, said he is hoping the move will lead to a nationwide movement, The Epoch Times reported. 16 states already issue driver’s licenses to illegal alien residents, including California, New York, New Jersey, Oregon, Virginia and Utah among others.

While immigration activists have pushed the measures for over a decade, the movement has gained significant traction over the last three years. Illegal alien residents have staged multiple demonstrations demanding the right to obtain a driver’s license over that time period.

New York Taxpayers To Pay $220 Million Next Year For Illegal Migrants’ Health Care

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul recently signed into law a $220 billion budget riddled with wasteful spending, including $220 million for free Medicaid for illegal immigrants and a $600 million subsidy for a new Buffalo Bills stadium, according to the New York Post.

Federal law prohibits federal tax dollars from going toward Medicaid for illegal immigrants, so New York taxpayers will pick up the tab for healthcare for up to 20,000 illegal immigrants living in the Empire State.

Those making less than $18,754 would qualify for the program, though many other details regarding eligibility have yet to be announced.

Hochul, a Buffalo resident, pushed for her pet project of giving $600 million to gift the NFL a new stadium, and is part of why the budget was delayed for days.

In addition to state funding, Eerie County will contribute $250 million to the project, making it the largest public subsidy for a stadium in the United States, according to Bloomberg. The NFL and the Bills will only pay $550 million toward the new stadium.

Amid Nationwide Shortage, Illegal Immigrants Get Baby Formula First, Lawmaker Claims

Amid a nationwide shortage of baby formula, a Republican lawmaker is claiming that illegal immigrants detained by the border patrol are being given priority over Americans.

Republican Rep. Kat Cammack (FL) posted videos on social media as she claimed the Biden administration is shipping “pallets” of baby formula to border facilities.

“They are sending pallets, pallets of baby formula to the border,” Cammack said in online postings on Wednesday. “Meanwhile, in our own district at home, we cannot find baby formula,” she added, displaying a photo that showed empty store shelves.

Cammack said a border agent has been sending her photos of the deliveries of baby formula. “They’re receiving pallets and more pallets of baby formula at the border,” she said. “This was taken at Ursula processing facility [in McAllen, Texas] where thousands are being housed and processed and then released,” she said.

‘Beyond troubling’: Current, former government officials tied to human trafficking probe in Georgia

Two Georgia labor officials whose jobs involved protecting or advocating for farmworkers have links to one of the largest U.S. human trafficking cases ever prosecuted involving foreign agricultural laborers brought here on seasonal visas.

One individual indicted in the case, Brett Donovan Bussey, left government service in 2018. The other, Jorge Gomez, remains on the job and hasn’t been accused of wrongdoing, but officers searched his home in connection with the case and his sister and nephew are among those indicted.

In October, a grand jury indicted Bussey and 23 others for conspiring to engage in forced labor and other related crimes. Federal prosecutors say the defendants required guest farmworkers to pay illegal fees to obtain jobs, withheld their IDs so they could not leave, made them work for little or no pay, housed them in unsanitary conditions and threatened them with deportation and violence.

Two workers died in the heat, according to the indictment. Court records say five workers were kidnapped and one of them was raped.

All defendants who have entered pleas so far have pleaded not guilty in the case, named “Operation Blooming Onion.” Some of the workers harvested onions, the state’s official vegetable.

Illinois Offers Free Healthcare to Qualified Illegal Immigrants

Illinois is now offering free health care to some illegal immigrants after state lawmakers approved the program last year. The new program will provide free healthcare to illegal immigrants between the ages of 55 and 64, FOX32 Chicago reported. Migrants over the age of 64 are already entitled to healthcare coverage in the state.

Covered services include doctor and hospital visits, lab tests, physical and occupational therapy, mental health, substance abuse disorder services, dental and vision services, and prescription drugs. In order to qualify, the recipient must be an “undocumented immigrant”, be between the ages of 55 through 64 and have a household income is at or below $18,754 for one person, or $25,268 for two people.

The plan will soon expand further in order to grant free healthcare to illegal immigrants between the ages of 42 through 55.

New IG Report Reveals Biden Regime Wasted $17 Million on UNUSED Hotel Rooms Meant for Illegals and ICE Contractors

In yet another brutal indictment of the Biden Administration’s handling of the Southern Border, the Inspector General of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) released a new report this week detailing several procedural violations and millions of wasted taxpayer dollars through border operations by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials and contractors.

Following the $80 million-plus contract that the Biden administration awarded to the non-profit group Endeavors to provide hotel room lodging for illegal immigrants, the IG report found a lack of “justification” given for the exorbitant amount of money being allocated, leading to millions in wasted dollars. In all, a whopping $17 million was wasted on empty rooms in six hotels between April and June 2021.

The decision to award Endeavors the housing contract for illegals was also criticized at the time because the Biden administration subverted the traditional selection process and allowed the non-profit to secure the contract without opening it up to any competition, also called a no-bid contract. In other words, this relationship has been shady since the beginning.

Although the amount is fairly modest when compared to the recently passed trillion-plus-dollar spending package, or even the 3 billion that’s been sent to Ukraine so far, the complete waste of millions in taxpayer dollars is a notable issue. The fact that over 3 million illegals that we know of have crossed the border since Biden took office  and the subsequent overcrowding in ICE facilities, should suggest that there would be no vacancies in any of the hotel rooms. How did almost 1/4th of the money end up being spent on nothing?
