White House requests $58 million to increase security for executive, judicial branches after Charlie Kirk shooting, sources say

The Trump administration is sending a $58 million request to Congress to increase security for the executive and judicial branches in the wake of the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, multiple sources familiar with the matter told CBS News Saturday.

Punchbowl was first to report the news.

A White House official confirmed the extra funds would be directed to the U.S. Marshals Service and would also include enhanced
protection for Supreme Court justices.

Additionally, the Trump administration expressed support for increased funding to protect congressional lawmakers, but may defer to the legislative branch on that.

This all comes ahead of a Sept. 30 government funding deadline.

CBS News previously reported on a new pilot program for House members that launched in August that provides an extra allowance for members to hire personal security or make upgrades at home.

House Speaker Mike Johnson said late this week a “deliberate” and thorough review of the program is underway. The Senate is also considering additional safety precautions.

“We’ve got to protect people who run for public office or no one will, and that’s heavy on our hearts and minds, as we also, you know, work through the trauma of what happened,” Johnson told reporters Thursday.

U.S. Capitol Police Chief Michael Sullivan told CBS News that the department expects to track more than 14,000 threats to members by the end of the year, significantly outpacing previous years. Sullivan said USCP will be operating at a “heightened posture” going forward.

“We’re prepared to continue to react and keep the members of Congress safe,” Sullivan said.

Western politicians are not looking after the national interest – whose interests are they looking after?

On Tuesday, Richard Werner, Professor of Banking and Economics at the University of Winchester, joined Rick Sanchez on RT’s ‘Sanchez Effect’ to discuss Europe’s economic woes.

In Western countries  that are in economic and greater fiscal difficulties,” Prof. Werner said, “we have people in charge who do not look after the national interest and have other motives, other goals.”

To help us begin to understand what these “other motives” and “other goals” are, we turn to a speech made around 2001 by the late Dr. Michael S. Coffman at the Granada Forum.  Dr. Coffman passed away in 2017, as reported by InfoWars.

Dr. Coffman had a PhD in Forest Science.  He was a retired paper industry executive, a property rights advocate and a global warming sceptic known for his work with Environmental Perspectives, Inc. and Sovereignty International, focusing on issues such as Agenda 21, the Convention on Biological Diversity and the perceived threat of a New World Order.

Homeless Camps Are Morphing Into Larger Homeless ‘Cities’ In LA

A massive homeless encampment in Koreatown has grown into what neighbors describe as a “city” of its own — complete with a tennis court, garden, barbecue pit, and even illegally rigged electricity, according to the NY Post.

“The reason why people are sleeping here is because you leaders are sleeping on not taking initiative and action to clean this place up,” resident Daniel King told ABC7.

Neighbors say they’ve watched people pry open a streetlight, install a surge protector inside, and run extension cords across the street to power the camp. “Thank God it hasn’t rained in a while,” said Sangmin Lee. “It’s a fire hazard … then they run the cable across the street, and it’s a trip hazard for everyone.”

Lee also pointed out, “There’s a tennis court, there’s a garden where they’re growing stuff… There’s a barbecue pit.” Another neighbor, Max Smith, summed it up: “It’s a city in there. It’s crazy. It’s crazy.”

The Post writes that residents say the camp has created safety concerns, with one woman telling ABC7 she avoids walking her dog near the site after being approached by people from the encampment. An ABC7 crew was also threatened while reporting there.

Deranged Leftist Tries to Kill Elderly North Carolina Man Over Trump Banner

More left-wing political violence.

A leftist ripped down a North Carolina business owner’s Trump banner and tried to kill him.

On September 6, a deranged leftist pulled over his vehicle and ripped down a pro-Trump banner hanging on a sign near one of the business owner’s buses.

Mark Thomas, the owner of Paddle Inn Rafting Company, said he saw the suspect on surveillance video rip down the Trump banner, so he went outside and fired his rifle as a warning.

“He walked up to the sign. When he stood up at the sign I though ‘I can’t believe this’,” Thomas said told Fox Carolina. “I watched him until he reached up and pulled the sign down. It’s just a shock.”

“I let him know that somebody’s watching him and didn’t appreciate it,” Thomas added.

The suspect is then caught on surveillance video sticking a firearm out of the sunroof of a green Jeep Grand Cherokee and firing toward Mark Thomas.

Tens of thousands protest against legal crackdown on Turkey’s main opposition party

Tens of thousands of people protested in the capital Ankara on Sunday against a court case that could oust the head of the main opposition on Monday after a year-long legal crackdown on hundreds of its members.

Live footage showed crowds chanting for President Tayyip Erdogan’s resignation while waving Turkish flags and party banners.

The court decision on Monday whether to invalidate the 2023 congress of the Republican People’s Party (CHP) over alleged procedural irregularities could reshape the party, rattle financial markets and influence the timing of a general election set for 2028. The court could also delay the ruling.

Speaking at Sunday’s rally, CHP leader Ozgur Ozel said the government was trying to cling to power by undermining democratic norms and suppressing dissent following opposition victories in local elections over the past year.

Ozel also called for a snap general election.

TURKISH OPPOSITION VOWS TO RESIST

“This case is political. The accusations are slander. Our comrades are innocent. What’s being done is a coup — a coup against the future president, against the future government. We will resist, we will resist, we will resist,” Ozel said in his address to the crowd.

Musk’s xAI lays off hundreds of data annotators, Business Insider reports

Elon Musk’s xAI has laid off at least 500 workers from its data annotation team, which helps develop the company’s Grok chatbot, Business Insider reported on Friday (Sep 12).

The company notified employees by e-mail on Friday night that it was planning to downsize its team of generalist artificial intelligence (AI) tutors, the report said, citing multiple messages viewed by Business Insider.

Responding to a request for comment, xAI referred to a post on X in which the company said it was hiring for roles across domains and planned to increase its specialist AI tutor team by “10X”.

The data annotation team, xAI’s largest, teaches Grok to understand the world by contextualising and categorising raw data, Business Insider said.

Workers were told that they would be paid through either the end of their contract or Nov 30 but their access to company systems would be terminated on the day of the layoff notice, the report said.

xAI finance chief Mike Liberatore left the company around the end of July after just a few months on the job, The Wall Street Journal reported this month, citing people familiar with the matter.

Investigation into Charlie Kirk Assassination Widens to Probe Radical Pro-Trans Online Groups, Including on Steam

The investigation into the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk has expanded to scrutinize pro-trans online communities, including the Steam group that The Gateway Pundit reported on early Sunday morning, to determine if others were aware of or involved with the plan to kill the conservative icon.

As TGP reported, Robinson appears to have been a member of a bizarre Steam group named “Read This If Your Gay,” a title that eerily mirrors the mocking inscription “If you read this, you are gay LMAO,” which was etched on a bullet casing at the crime scene.

The New York Post reports:

Law enforcement sources said that investigators are examining leftist groups both in Utah and online to figure out if they helped him with the shooting — or at least heard it was going to happen.

The probe includes groups in online gaming community Steam, as well as a pro-trans organization called Armed Queers SLC, which took down their Instagram after Kirk was killed, the source confirmed.

Steam is a video game platform that lets you play, discuss, and create games on your computer.

Incredibly, members of the group were issued a frantic warning to switch to encrypted chats just hours after the fatal shooting but before Robinson’s arrest, indicating that they may have had information about the shooter.

Britain Bans Israelis From Prestigious Military Academy

Israelis have been barred from one of Britain’s top defence academies because of the war in Gaza. The Telegraph has the story.

The Royal College of Defence Studies will not accept students from Israel from next year, the Government confirmed.

Amir Baram, the Director General of Israel’s Defence ministry, who studied at the college, said the decision was “a profoundly dishonourable act of disloyalty to an ally at war”.

In a letter to the Ministry of Defence (MoD), shared with the Telegraph, he called it a “discriminatory act” that amounted to a “disgraceful break with Britain’s proud tradition of tolerance – and plain decency”.

It is the first time that the college has excluded Israelis.

Maj Gen Baram said the decision came at a time when Israel was “defending international shipping from Houthi aggression, preventing nuclear weapons from falling into the hands of an Islamist regime that chants ‘Death to England’, and fighting to bring home 48 hostages from Hamas captivity”. …

An MoD spokesman said British military educational courses had long been open to personnel from a “wide range of countries, with all UK military courses emphasising compliance with international humanitarian law”.

He added: “However, the Israeli Government’s decision to further escalate its military operation in Gaza is wrong.” …

The Israeli Ministry of Defence said that the ban was on all Israeli citizens enrolling, not just soldiers. …

The exclusion of Israelis from the college is the latest in a string of punitive actions against Israel taken by Downing Street.

BOMBSHELL: Accused Charlie Kirk Assassin Appears to Have Been in Steam Group Called ‘Read This If Your Gay,’ Echoing Message on Bullet Casing, Members Urged Encrypted Cover-Up of Chats RIGHT AFTER Shooting

Alleged Charlie Kirk assassin Tyler Robinson appears to have been a member of a bizarre Steam group named “Read This If Your Gay,” a title that eerily mirrors the mocking inscription “If you read this, you are gay LMAO,” which was etched on a bullet casing at the crime scene.

Steam is a video game platform that lets you play, discuss, and create games on your computer.

The group’s profile featured cartoonish imagery, including anime-style characters, underscoring the meme-driven world in which Robinson and his associates seem to have operated.

Incredibly, members of the group were issued a frantic warning to switch to encrypted chats just hours after the fatal shooting but before Robinson’s arrest, indicating that they may have had information about the shooter.

A cryptic announcement was posted in the group on September 10 at 11:24 PM, mere hours after Kirk’s shooting, but crucially before Robinson’s arrest.

Penned by a user named “CHERRY SYLVEON,” the message warned: “be careful over sh-t you say online end to end encryption messaging platforms like signal exists for a reason or just use PGP and yes, this is directly referencing a very specific thing that happened.”

FBI Reportedly Attempted to Hide the Identity of Charlie Kirk Assassination Suspect’s Transgender Boyfriend

The FBI reportedly tried to hide the identity of the transgender boyfriend of the suspect in the brutal assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, 22-year-old Lance Twiggs.

A relative has described Twiggs as “full of evil and hatred.” His own Reddit post described being thrown out of his family home as a minor because they believed he was demonic.

The Daily Mail reports:

The FBI tried keeping the gender identity of the trans partner of Charlie Kirk’s alleged killer a secret because he had been ‘extremely cooperative’ with authorities.

Sources familiar with the case said that Lance Twiggs was ‘aghast’ when confronted by investigators over his lover’s alleged assassination plot, saying: ‘Oh my God, no.’

Investigators are looking into whether Kirk’s alleged killer, Tyler Robinson, was motivated by his belief that the conservative activist’s views on transgender people were hateful.

After asking investigators if ‘that’s what happened’, a horrified Twiggs agreed to cooperate and said ‘here are all the messages’, according to Axios.

Discord messages sent by the alleged killer, who was listed as ‘Tyler’, reportedly mentioned how he had wrapped his rifle in a towel and stashed it in some bushes near Utah Valley University, where Kirk was shot.

It appears as though a large number of people in fringe online transgender communities knew about the plot in advance.

Neighbors reported suspicious out-of-state visitors to Robinson’s home in the weeks leading up to the shooting, describing them as giving off a “bad vibe,” further fueling speculation of external coordination.

Robinson faces charges including aggravated murder, discharge of a firearm causing serious injury, and obstruction of justice, and could face Utah’s death penalty by firing squad if convicted.
