Georgetown, Knight Foundation Include FBI Russiagate Lawyer James Baker on Board of Censorship Organization

James Baker, the FBI’s top lawyer during Russiagate and later a key operative inside Twitter’s pre-Musk  censorship apparatus, has resurfaced on the board of a fresh institutional effort to lock down online speech.

As revealed in a new report from the Foundation for Freedom Online, Baker is seated on the board of the Knight-Georgetown Institute (KGI), a relatively new addition to the maze of “counter-disinformation” organizations that sprung up after Donald Trump’s first election victory in 2016.

Founded in 2024, KGI is a “counter-disinformation” hub co-founded by the Knight Foundation and Georgetown University. A top priority is state lawmaking – it is currently shopping a “toolkit” to state-level legislators, aimed at guiding the regulation of social media feeds.

As well as Baker, KGI’s board includes Alondra Nelson, Joe Biden’s acting director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, who oversaw a whole-of-government disinformation crackdown spanning 26 agencies, 14 universities, and 20+ NGOs. Another member is Nahiba Syed, a lawyer who defended the Steele Dossier in court.

In March 2025, KGI published its flagship manifestoBetter Feeds, supplying three suggested changes to social media feeds:

  1. Bridging – algorithms should favor “positive dialogue” over raw engagement, in effect suppressing content deemed too conflictual.
  2. Surveys – platforms should constantly poll users about what kinds of content they want to see, subtly nudging behavior.
  3. Quality metrics – content flagged as “toxic” or low quality should be downgraded, while exalted “award-winning” journalism or high-status outlets are boosted.

The “quality” standard is elastic — and subjective by design. Baker and his colleagues also openly praise censorship tools like NewsGuard and Google Jigsaw’s Perspective AI, both already weaponized to suppress conservative voices. NewsGuard, for instance, has blacklisted well-known conservative publications such as Breitbart News, Newsmax, and The Federalist.

‘Bombshell report’: Tulsi Gabbard uncovers documents showing Obama doctored intel to create Russiagate

Jesse Watters ran a very damning segment on the origins of the Trump-Russia hoax.

Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard uncovered documents that were hidden for ten years that show Barack Obama was leading efforts to make it look like President Trump and Vladimir Putin stole the 2016 election from Hillary Clinton.

Obama ordered his corrupt CIA Director John Brennan to create this fake assessment.

This ties the former President Obama directly to the Trump-Russia hoax.

Dirty Obama was leading the efforts to take down Trump.

Barack Obama, who offered ‘hope and change,’ was actually a blight on our country’s history.

Matt Taibbi on Jim Comey: “Think of the National Security Implications of Implying that Your Own President is a Spy for a Foreign Country!… You Cannot Let That Go On”

Investigative journalist Matt Taibbi joined Jesse Watters on Friday night to discuss the James Comey indictments.

Taibbi blasted Comey for leaking false documents to the leftist press accusing President Trump of being a Russian spy. This was something Comey KNEW was factually incorrect and yet he took these actions to take down a sitting US President.

The criminal charges against Comey are much more serious than what the media is reporting!

In a previous time in American history Comey would be hung for treason.

Matt Taibbi: “People have to remember what is the substance of these lies? What were they for? These news stories that were put out there that were leaked to the press, the thrust of them was that Donald Trump was under the throes of a foreign government. He was a Russian agent.

Think of the national security implications of implying that your own president is a spy for a foreign country.

Would that be tolerated in any normal country?

You cannot let that go on. You can’t have an FBI director doing these kinds of things and engaging these sorts of manipulations and lying to Congress about it and getting away with it.”

Jesse Watters: Yeah, he basically framed him as a traitor. What’s the punishment for treason? We all know what that is. I mean, this is the worst thing you can possibly do…

Matt Taibbi: One thing I think we’ve learned during the Russiagate period is that James Comey has a peculiar vanity that I think is often his undoing.

He often thinks that he’s being clever when he’s not. He often thinks that he’s showing tremendous rectitude when he’s actually looking like a phony on television.

The more exposure that he gets for himself, I think actually the more it will redound to Trump’s benefit.

As far as I’m concerned, it’s good if he’s on television more during this period.

Weaponized Scoops: New Russiagate Documents Expose Media/Government Collusion

Recently declassified documents indicate that people close to former FBI Director James Comey and Democratic Sen. Adam Schiff were connected to leaks of classified information to prominent reporters designed to portray Donald Trump and his allies as being in league with Russia.

Written in 2017, the FBI documents expose how selected Washington reporters, including Ellen Nakashima of the Washington Post and Michael Schmidt of the New York Times, scored a series of Pulitzer Prize-winning scoops in 2017 by repeating false and inflammatory leaks during President Trump’s first term.

Much of their reporting has been debunked – and shown to be part of a smear campaign by high-ranking officials to undermine Trump, but the identities of those leakers have remained hidden because of the government’s apparent unwillingness to expose its own and the refusal of reporters to identify the people who misled them and the nation.

Although the heavily redacted recent disclosures do not specifically identify the suspected leakers, an RCI analysis of the documents strongly suggests that people close to Comey and Schiff, among others, were feeding the reporters information to advance the Russiagate hoax.

The documents reveal a cascade of misdeeds and failures. These include the effort of government officials to create and leak misleading classified information to favored reporters and the failure of reporters to scrutinize the information they were given before rushing it into print; and the subsequent failure of federal investigators to hold anyone accountable for the breaches of security.

The documents also detail the incestuous nature of media-government relationships inside the D.C. Beltway. In some cases, spouses and friends of government officials and reporters were used to spread damaging misinformation about Trump, making it difficult for federal investigators to follow the trail of illegal disclosures.

All of these cozy friendships of leakers and leaker recipients, many of whom are married to each other, are precisely why reporters adore hiding their sourcing behind walls of ‘senior administration officials’ or ‘senior U.S. officials’ and associated disguises,” said Tim Graham, director of media analysis for the Media Research Center, a Washington-based journalism watchdog group.

Released Comey Memos Reveal Obama Admin’s Endorsement Of Russian Hoax

Newly unclassified memos from disgraced former FBI Director James Comey confirmed that the Obama administration not only welcomed the Russia meddling hoax but also discussed potential post-election actions.

Journalist Catherine Herridge first shared the October 2016 memos on X on Friday after FBI Director Kash Patel approved their declassification.

In one memo, Comey asked, “What is the goal? Informing US people? Disrupting Russians.”

Elsewhere, he contemplated potential steps after President Donald Trump’s election in 2016.

“What are the circumstances in which we can imagine taking any action after the election,” Comey wrote.

“I can’t picture it so why threaten any.”

One note, titled “My Thoughts,” referenced the late Sen. Dianne Feinstein and former Rep. (now Sen.) Adam Schiff, both California Democrats, as putting the FBI “in odd spot.”

The context behind this last note is unclear.

On another page, Comey used the acronym “COS,” likely referring to a chief of staff.

He also entertained the Russia meddling theory.

“Russians have a view on who should win,” he wrote, adding:

“SR (Susan Rice/National Security Adviser) •Need IC (intelligence Community) to do their best lay down of what we could say publicly.”

The memos suggest the outgoing Obama administration embraced the idea that Russia wanted Trump to win the election—a theory that later evolved into claims that Trump colluded with Russia.

Mueller Family Statement on Robert Mueller’s Health Decline Comes Into Question After Insiders Refute Claims

A statement provided to The New York Times about Robert Mueller’s declining health is now in question after attorneys and people with insider knowledge refute the claims.

As TGP reported earlier this month, Robert Mueller, former FBI Director who was tapped as special counsel to investigate President Trump’s 2016 ‘collusion’ with Russia is reportedly in a memory-care facility.

Earlier this month RealClearInvestigations reporter Paul Sperry revealed Robert Mueller, 80, has been living in a memory-care facility for the past few years.

“House Oversight Committee has subpoenaed Robert Mueller to appear for a Sept. 2 deposition to provide details from an FBI investigation of Jeffrey Epstein from decades ago — even though sources tell me Mueller has been living in a memory-care facility for the past few years,” Paul Sperry said.

Mueller will not be able to testify to Congress this week.

On Sunday evening The New York Times reported that Mueller got diagnosed with Parkinson’s four years ago and has had difficulty speaking in the last few months.

The Mueller family statement also claimed that Robert Mueller taught at his law school during fall of 2021 and 2022.

“Bob was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in the summer of 2021. He retired from the practice of law at the end of that year. He taught at his law school alma mater during the fall of both 2021 and 2022, and he retired at the end of 2022,” Mueller’s family said in a statement to The New York Times.

However, lawyers and insiders have refuted the Mueller family’s claims. Mueller allegedly did not teach at his law school in 2021 and 2022 because he was too mentally incapacitated to teach.

Mueller was reportedly in such bad shape that his star prosecutor from the Russia witch hunt had to step in and teach the classes.

NATO state’s president claims Trump a ‘Russian asset’

Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa has accused US President Donald Trump of only pretending to act as an impartial mediator in the Ukraine conflict, while serving Moscow’s interests and functioning as a “Russian asset.”

Speaking on Wednesday at the Social Democratic Party’s Summer University in Castelo de Vide, Rebelo de Sousa criticized Trump for shifting away from his predecessor’s policy of unconditional support for Kiev.

“The top leader of the world’s greatest superpower is, objectively, a Soviet, or Russian, asset. He functions as an asset,” Rebelo de Sousa stated, as cited by CNN Portugal.

The Portuguese leader further claimed that Trump is less a genuine mediator than an “arbiter who only negotiates with one of the teams,” arguing that Kiev and its EU backers had to “push their way in” to take part in recent talks in Washington.

Shocking NEW Documents Expose Multi-Front Effort To Protect Clintons While Framing Trump

Newly unearthed documents show deep state government actors once again circling the wagons to protect Bill and Hillary Clinton — and suppressing evidence that implicated them. Last week it was the FBI, this week it is the IRS.

In 2019, the IRS Criminal Investigations Division quietly launched a probe into the Clinton Foundation’s tax practices, working closely with whistleblowers John Moynihan and Larry Doyle, financial experts who had compiled thousands of pages of evidence.

According to internal agency memos reported by Just the News, IRS agents reviewed the evidence and at least one agent concluded it meant that the “entire [Clinton Foundation] enterprise is a fraud.” Agents then moved to treat the whistleblowers as cooperating witnesses and even set up secure computer servers to hold the material they had collected.

Then, without warning, the lights went out. “Can’t talk about the CF,” agents told the whistleblowers. By the summer of 2019, their inquiry was dead. Moynihan and Doyle are now battling the agency in Tax Court over the apparent shutdown of the investigation.

The IRS’s abrupt reversal follows an earlier, more infamous patternIn 2016, FBI field offices in New York, Washington, and Little Rock all opened probes into the Bill and Hillary Clinton Foundation, partly on the strength of Peter Schweizer’s 2015 bestselling book, Clinton Cash, which exposed numerous examples of the Clintons using the foundation while she served as Secretary of State under President Barack Obama as a pay-to-play scheme for business and foreign government interests seeking political influence.

Russiagate: Dismantling the Democrats’ hoax

At the long-anticipated U.S.-Russia summit in Alaska on August 15, President Trump stressed that his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin was well aware that his country had not interfered in the 2016 election. This unexpected remark amid talks on Ukraine war settlement referred to a massive legal work conducted by the intelligence community aimed at exposing that “treasonous conspiracy.”

That is, in mid-July this year, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard revealed that the so-called Russiagate investigation was politically motivated and inspired by the Democrat party, particularly the outgoing Obama administration in late 2016. The disclosures reinforced suspicions long held but never conclusively substantiated: the Russia-interference claim was not merely flawed but deliberately constructed to undermine Trump’s presidency.

Russiagate in a Nutshell

On January 6, 2017—just days before Donald Trump’s inauguration—the U.S. intelligence community released a new assessment concluding that “Russia interfered in the election to favor Trump.” This statement reversed six months of prior assessments, which indicated there had been no recorded foreign meddling through cyber operations.

The strong claim had a profound and long-lasting impact. It is not just about Trump’s first term being severely obstructed. Many of his top-tier supporters were “canceled,” some of them sent to jail under false “evidence.” Trump himself suffered massive reputational damage that had almost buried his political career. Overall, the meddling accusation campaign resulted in better electoral positions for the Democrat party during the 2018 and 2020 elections.

Besides, Russiagate prompted some anti-interference bills to be passed by Congress. Many of them included sanctions on Russia and other adversaries of the U.S. which led to higher tensions with Moscow, Iran, and China. Some pundits say this plot could have triggered numerous wars, including hostilities in Ukraine.

Moreover, the accusations led to a long-lasting investigation by the FBI and other agencies, which cost American taxpayers a hefty pile of money. The initial FBI investigation, called Crossfire Hurricane, transformed into Special Counsel Mueller’s probe, and it damaged the federal budget for some $35 million. Durham’s subsequent probe cost some $7 million, and other congressional investigation expenses up to $5 million.

Surprising Truth

As a matter of fact, instead of the widely spread idea that Russia helped Trump take over the Oval office, Putin apparently preferred Clinton; he chose not to torpedo her campaign by keeping silent about her alleged poor health. Russian intelligence was reported to possess some sensitive documents on the issue, which they eventually refused to disclose. This little-known fact is just enough to dismiss Russiagate as a conspiracy that has nothing to do with reality, but the mainstream media claimed Moscow’s pro-Clinton stance as a marginal theory, representing the Democrats’ point of view as established narrative.

DECLASSIFIED: Federal Prosecutors Secured Evidence From FBI Brass That Comey Authorized Classified Leaks – But Declined to Bring Charges

Newly declassified memos reveal federal prosecutors secured evidence from FBI brass indicating that former FBI Director James authorized classified leaks shortly before the 2016 election, but they declined to bring charges.

According to the memos obtained by Just The News, an investigation by the US Postal Inspection Service Agents revealed former FBI General Counsel James Baker and Comey’s Chief of Staff James Rybicki were involved in leaking the classified information to The New York Times in October 2016.

The specific classified information was not identified.

“The USPIS Investigation also revealed Baker disclosed USG classified information to the NYT under the belief he was ultimately instructed and authorized to do so by then FBI Director James Comey,” one summary memo reads, according to Just The News. “For example, during interviews, Baker indicated FBI Chief of Staff James Rybicki instructed him (Baker) to disclose the information to the NYT, and Baker understood Rybicki was conveying this instruction and authorization from Comey.”

Just The News reported:

Federal prosecutors gathered evidence from James Comey’s top lieutenants that he authorized the leak of classified information to reporters just before the 2016 election but declined to bring criminal charges, according to recently declassified memos that call into question the former FBI director’s testimony to Congress.

The bombshell revelations involving ex-FBI general counsel James Baker and ex-Comey chief of staff James Rybicki were memorialized in documents that FBI Director Kash Patel discovered earlier this year, but the passages were originally redacted by the Justice Department in versions sent to Congress earlier this month.

Attorney General Pam Bondi intervened and eliminated the redactions, dispatching new versions of the memos this week to the House and Senate Judiciary committees, officials told Just the News.

The memos detail evidence and interviews gathered by U.S. Postal Inspection Service agents concerning classified information leaked to The New York Times in October 2016, ahead of the November election in which Republican Donald Trump defeated Democrat Hillary Clinton.

This is not the first time it was revealed James Comey authorized the leaks of classified information.
