Ford gov’t gives politicians a 35% pay raise, new pension benefits

New legislation tabled late yesterday proposes a new pension plan and a 35% pay raise for MPPs, angering taxpayer advocates.

“While families are tightening their belts and the province sinks deeper into debt, Ontario politicians are stuffing their own pockets,” said Nicolas Gagnon, communications director for the Canadian Taxpayers Federation. “They’re voting themselves a raise and a taxpayer-funded pension, and they expect Ontarians to just smile and pay for it.”

MPP base salaries will increase from $116,550 to $157,450, costing taxpayers at least $6 million in the first year, plus ongoing pension expenses.

That number is higher for those with a cabinet post, and the premier, with the latter receiving an increase from $209,000 to about $282,000. Cabinet ministers would pocket an additional $58,000, bringing their total to around $224,000, before taxes.

FBI Files Document Communism in Valerie Jarrett’s Family

Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) files obtained by Judicial Watch reveal that the dad, maternal grandpa and father-in-law of President Obama’s trusted senior advisor, Valerie Jarrett, were hardcore Communists under investigation by the U.S. government.

Jarrett’s dad, pathologist and geneticist Dr. James Bowman, had extensive ties to Communist associations and individuals, his lengthy FBI file shows. In 1950 Bowman was in communication with a paid Soviet agent named Alfred Stern, who fled to Prague after getting charged with espionage. Bowman was also a member of a Communist-sympathizing group called the Association of Internes and Medical Students. After his discharge from the Army Medical Corps in 1955, Bowman moved to Iran to work, the FBI records show.

According to Bowman’s government file the Association of Internes and Medical Students is an organization that “has long been a faithful follower of the Communist Party line” and engages in un-American activities. Bowman was born in Washington D.C. and had deep ties to Chicago, where he often collaborated with fellow Communists. JW also obtained documents on Bowman from the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) showing that the FBI was brought into investigate him for his membership in a group that “follows the communist party line.” The Jarrett family Communist ties also include a business partnership between Jarrett’s maternal grandpa, Robert Rochon Taylor, and Stern, the Soviet agent associated with her dad.

Jarrett’s father-in-law, Vernon Jarrett, was also another big-time Chicago Communist, according to separate FBI files obtained by JW as part of a probe into the Jarrett family’s Communist ties. For a period of time Vernon Jarrett appeared on the FBI’s Security Index and was considered a potential Communist saboteur who was to be arrested in the event of a conflict with the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR). His FBI file reveals that he was assigned to write propaganda for a Communist Party front group in Chicago that would “disseminate the Communist Party line among…the middle class.”

It’s been well documented that Valerie Jarrett, a Chicago lawyer and longtime Obama confidant, is a liberal extremist who wields tremendous power in the White House. Faithful to her roots, she still has connections to many Communist and extremist groups, including the Muslim Brotherhood. Jarrett and her family also had strong ties to Frank Marshal Davis, a big Obama mentor and Communist Party member with an extensive FBI file.

JW has exposed Valerie Jarrett’s many transgressions over the years, including her role in covering up a scandalous gun-running operation carried out by the Department of Justice (DOJ). Last fall JW obtained public records that show Jarrett was a key player in the effort to cover up that Attorney General Eric Holder lied to Congress about the Fast and Furious, a disastrous experiment in which the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco Firearms and Explosives (ATF) allowed guns from the U.S. to be smuggled into Mexico so they could eventually be traced to drug cartels. Instead, federal law enforcement officers lost track of hundreds of weapons which have been used in an unknown number of crimes, including the murder of a U.S. Border Patrol agent in Arizona.

DOJ Confirms Plan to Make It Easier to Prosecute Corrupt Members of Congress

The Department of Justice has confirmed a plan that will make it easier to prosecute corrupt politicians.

Under plans currently being drawn up, the DOJ would be able indict members of Congress without approval from lawyers from its Public Integrity Section, known as PIN.

The plans were first reported by The Washington Post and confirmed by a DOJ official.

The Post explains:

Under the proposal, investigators and prosecutors would also not be required to consult with the section’s attorneys during key steps of probes into public officials, altering a long-standing provision in the Justice Department’s manual that outlines how investigations of elected officials should be conducted.

If adopted, the changes would remove a layer of review intended to ensure that cases against public officials are legally sound and not politically motivated.

Career prosecutors in the Public Integrity Section guided and signed off on the criminal investigations into alleged corruption by New York Mayor Eric Adams (D) and former Democratic senator Bob Menendez.

A Justice Department spokesman confirmed the proposal and said that no final decisions have been made. The three people familiar with the proposal spoke on the condition of anonymity because they fear reprisals.

According to a DOJ spokesperson, the main issues lies with the power afforded to PIN, which has already shrunk significantly from 30 prosecutors under the Biden regime to just five under Trump.

“The point of the review is to ensure that equal responsibility is held in the field at U.S. Attorney’s Offices as opposed to centralizing all authority in PIN,” they explained.

PIN was created in 1976 in the wake of the Watergate scandal with the goal of reinforcing DOJ’s credibility in policing official misconduct.

According to the Justice Department’s guidelines, prosecutors in the Public Integrity Section must give formal approval—not just input—before charges can be filed against lawmakers in cases tied to their official roles or campaign conduct.

Nonetheless, the ultimate decision to proceed with an indictment rests with the attorney general.

There is no climate change crisis; there’s a crisis of corrupted politicians and institutions

Kooky tales about Antarctica abound – including the presence of UFOs, a lost civilisation and a passage to Earth’s interior. All are generally dismissed as absurd. Yet, some widely accepted claims about climate change and ice sheets at the planet’s southernmost end are equally far-fetched.

The world is told daily that rising CO2 levels are melting polar ice, shrinking crop yields and pushing humanity toward extinction. “Institute radical decarbonisation or we’re all dead!” is the cry of our enlightened overlords, as if swapping incandescent bulbs for LEDs and banning gas cars would spare us from their predicted apocalypse. They demand immediate economic hara-kiri to avoid weather predictions based on pseudoscience and outright deception.

Real-world data – from Brazil’s record harvests to the rebound of Antarctica’s ice – expose the climate crusade for the baseless hysteria that it is.

Brazil’s Agricultural Triumph

The Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics projects cereals, legumes and oilseeds to reach more than 325 million metric tonnes of production this year, an 11% increase over 2024.

Production of soyabeans, another cornerstone crop of global food security, is expected to hit 161 million metric tonnes in Brazil, a 6% jump from the previous year, according to the US Department of Agriculture’s Foreign Agricultural Service. Brazil’s National Supply Corporation forecasts total grain production to be more than 322 million metric tonnes, up over 8% from the prior harvest, as rice leads with an increase of nearly 10% in planted area.

What does this mean for you? These numbers are evidence of a thriving agricultural sector that feeds millions worldwide. Brazil’s success challenges dire warnings from the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (“IPCC”) of rising CO2 and temperatures disrupting agriculture.

Warmer climates and higher CO2 levels are enhancing plant growth, as warmth extends growing seasons and CO2 acts as a natural fertiliser, facts that are evident across the globe.

Antarctica’s ice rebound

Far south of Brazil, in the freezing landscape of Antarctica, another climate myth is derailed. A poster child of climate disaster forecasts, Antarctica is adding to its inventory of ice for the first time in decades. Recent data reveal that Antarctica’s ice sheet is growing. Between 2021 and 2023, Antarctic ice gained mass at a rate of approximately 108 metric gigatons per year, driven by anomalous precipitation accumulation.

This marks the first sustained ice growth in decades and should be headline news. The melting of polar ice has long been used to justify urgent policy interventions – from net-zero mandates to oil and gas restrictions to agricultural taxes. We were told rising CO₂ meant inevitable ice loss and catastrophic sea-level rise. But when the ice grows instead of shrinks, the climate establishment barely flinches.

Why are the people most entrusted with global climate policy ignoring or dismissing data like this? And more importantly, why are policymakers doubling down on economically destructive climate agendas when the physical world is contradicting their models?

Some independent researchers, farmers and energy analysts have raised red flags about flawed assumptions underlying the climate narrative. But they are often silenced or labelled “deniers” – a term designed to shut down inquiry rather than invite discussion.

Record crops and growing ice sheets are empirical evidence that challenge climate orthodoxy. Ignoring this information is not only unscientific but also immoral.

Mystery as top Swedish diplomat is found dead after being questioned over spy allegations

A top Swedish diplomat has been found dead after being arrested on suspicion of espionage.

Sweden‘s SAPO security service had detained the man on Sunday and kept him for questioning until Wednesday, when he was released, although he remained subject to investigation, the country’s prosecution service said.

The crimes were reportedly committed between May 1 and May 11 this month.

They would not, however, confirm whether the diplomat who died was the same man they arrested.

‘We have seen this information that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated that an employee has died,’ SAPO spokesperson Johan Wikström said.

‘We cannot confirm that this is the person who was previously arrested and suspected of espionage.’

His lawyer Anton Strand paid tribute to his client but declined to comment on the cause of the man’s death.

‘I cannot go into any detail about the investigation. There has been a gag order regarding the interrogations that have been held,’ he added.

However, he noted that the diplomat went to the hospital as soon as he was released, and subsequently filed a police report against the force for misconduct and assault.

Strand vowed to ‘closely follow’ the report on the wishes of the diplomat’s relatives.

Public broadcaster SVT has reported that the diplomat had served at several Swedish embassies and that SAPO was investigating a potential connection to the resignation of the government’s national security adviser last week.

Tobias Thyberg resigned hours after being unveiled in his role due to ‘images of a sensitive nature’, according to Swedish media.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Maria Malmer Stenergard told Swedish outlet Aftonbladet: ‘I have been reached by the sad news that an employee at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has passed away.

‘My thoughts are with the employee’s family, friends and colleagues.’

Police spokesman Daniel Wikdahl said his force had opened a probe into the man’s death but did ‘not suspect any crime’.

‘We do not need to suspect any crime to open an investigation, we do that when someone dies outside the hospital,’ he added.

Eccentric Polish Presidential Candidate Sets EU Flag Alight; Says “Down With Eurocommunism”

Eurocrats were thrown into an uproar last week after Polish presidential candidate and European Parliament member Grzegorz Braun—known for his provocative theatrical stunts—set fire to the European Union flag, condemning what he called the EU’s ‘ideological occupation’ of Poland by a globalist elite.

Braun, a Polish ultranationalist known for his bombastic style and unapologetic, unfiltered rhetoric, carried out the act at the historic Wujek coal mine in Katowice—a symbolic site tied to Poland’s anti-communist resistance.

First, he stormed into the Ministry of Industry, tore down the EU flag, wiped his shoes on it, and then burned it outside the building. “This is Poland—down with Euro-Communism,” he proclaimed in the video posted to his social media accounts.

“This organization has led to Poland’s liquidation,” Braun declared, referring to the European Union. “We will not tolerate symbols from hostile structures. In Poland, we do not show the signs of enemy organizations. These emblems carry no legal protection here.”

The action was part of Braun’s EU critical, to put it lightly, campaign ahead of Poland’s upcoming presidential election. He’s positioning himself as the uncompromising defender of Polish sovereignty against what he sees as the EU’s overreach, particularly in energy and environmental policy, which he claims threatens the heart of Polish industry.

“This is Poland, not Brussels!” Braun shouted during the protest, as coal miners cheered him on in solidarity.

Braun’s presidential campaign has centered around opposing EU mandates, defending traditional Polish values, and fighting what he calls “globalist totalitarianism.”

Can the PELOSI Act bring accountability to Congress?

Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) has reintroduced the aptly named PELOSI Act in Congress, which aims to ban members of Congress from engaging in insider trading.

The bill’s title, the PELOSI Act, stands for “Preventing Elected Leaders from Owning Securities and Investments” — which is essentially calling out former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for the questionable way she made millions in the stock market.

“Most members of the public think it’s already banned,” Hawley explained in a statement regarding the proposed act. “And when I say, ‘Actually, it’s 100% legal,’ they say, ‘Why?’ And there’s no good answer to that question.”

“Nancy Pelosi is the poster child for all of this,” Sara Gonzales of “Sara Gonzales Unfiltered” comments. “I mean, you’ve seen her estimated net worth — $250 million.”

$175,000 a year in Congress for the 289 years that she’s been alive somehow ends up with a net worth of $250 million,” she continues.

The act would not completely ban elected officials from investing, as they could still invest in mutual funds, ETFs, and U.S. treasuries.

However, Gonzales isn’t hopeful things will change.

“The problem here is that I don’t think this will ever happen, because there are too many people on both sides of the aisle who are doing this right now,” Gonzales says. “They are profiting off of their position, and it just feels like there’s no end in sight.”

“You’ve got a couple of good guys like Josh Hawley who’s like, ‘Hey, we should do this.’ You’ve got a couple of good guys like Ted Cruz who are like, ‘Hey, we should have term limits.’ And the rest of them are like, ‘Nah, let’s just do this forever and get really rich,’” she adds.

Labour MP Dan Norris is arrested on suspicion of rape and child sex offences after police raid

A Labour MP has been arrested on suspicion of rape and child sex offences, the Mail on Sunday can reveal.

Dan Norris, a former Labour minister who ousted Jacob Rees-Mogg as MP for North East Somerset at last year’s General Election, was taken into custody after police raided his constituency home on Friday.

They were later seen removing boxes of Mr Norris’s goods from the property.

Mr Norris, who trained with the NSPCC and worked as a teacher and child protection officer, has been suspended from the party pending the investigation.

A spokeswoman for Avon and Somerset Police said: ‘In December 2024, we received a referral from another police force relating to alleged non-recent child sex offences having been committed against a girl.

‘Most of the offences are alleged to have occurred in the 2000s, but we’re also investigating an alleged offence of rape from the 2020s.

‘An investigation, led by officers within Operation Bluestone, our dedicated rape and serious sexual assault investigation team, remains ongoing and at an early stage.

‘The victim is being supported and given access to any specialist help or support she needs.
