CNN Drops a Bombshell: The Shutdown Is Backfiring on the Democrats Big Time

The Schumer Shutdown has taken a surprising turn that should have Democrats in a panic. CNN has analyzed the polling data, and situation looks really bad for the Democrats. It turns out the Republican Party is actually gaining ground with voters during the shutdown, creating a nightmare scenario for Chuck Schumer and his caucus. The numbers tell a remarkable story of political miscalculation by Democrats, who seem to have badly misread the public mood.

When CNN’s John Berman asked data analyst Harry Enten about how the shutdown has affected Republican political standing, he didn’t sugarcoat it for the left. “You might think, given that the Republicans are in charge of both the House and the Senate, that a government shutdown might actually hurt the Republican brand. But, in fact, it hasn’t. If anything, it’s been helped a little bit,” Enten explained. He pointed to the hard data showing the Republican Party’s overall brand up two points. Meanwhile, the net approval ratings for Republicans in Congress have jumped five points since before the shutdown began.

Democrats were really counting on the “Republicans control the House, Senate, and White House” talking point to work… but it clearly hasn’t. And the implications are staggering for Senate Democrats, who have now blocked Republican attempts to reopen the government 13 times. Rather than inflicting political damage on the GOP, Schumer’s obstruction strategy appears to be backfiring spectacularly. Enten drove home the point, noting what Republican leaders John Thune and Mike Johnson must be thinking: “Why should we give, electorally speaking, when our brand has actually improved a little bit?”

Even more problematic for Democrats is where Republicans are gaining support. The shutdown isn’t just rallying the GOP base, as one might expect during partisan battles. “Change in the Republican Congress’ net approval rating versus pre-shutdown. It’s rallying the base for sure. Look at this, the net approval rating up 12 points versus pre-shutdown,” Enten observed. But then came the real kicker: “But it’s not just with the base. It’s also with the middle of the electorate. Look at this. Among independents, it’s up eight points as well.”

Even CNN Is Calling Out Dems Over This Lie About Trump’s White House Project

Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and a host of Democrats fell for this lie. No, the East Wing project at the White House isn’t the president’s main priority. Trump departed for his Asia tour last night. Schumer commented on a clip of White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt’s answer about this renovation, but it was taken out of context. Schumer took the bait and got taken behind the barn for it. Now, even CNN is calling them out.

A reporter asked press secretary Karoline Leavitt at a Thursday briefing: “In addition to the ballroom and the Rose Garden patio, is the president looking at any other renovations or significant kind of projects here at the White House?”

Leavitt responded: “Not to my knowledge, no. But he’s a builder at heart, clearly. And so his heart and his mind is always churning about how to improve things here on the White House grounds. But at this moment in time, of course, the ballroom is really the president’s main priority.”

So Leavitt was clearly referring to the planned new ballroom as Trump’s main priority for White House renovations. But on social media, various Democratic members of Congress have cut out the first part of the exchange to make it sound like she was saying the ballroom was Trump’s overall main priority.

CNN’s Tapper: Dems Created Expiration Date for Obamacare Subsidies, Not GOP

On Friday’s broadcast of CNN’s “The Lead,” host Jake Tapper pushed back on Rep. Jamie Raskin’s (D-MD) claim that the expiration of Affordable Care Act subsidies that are at issue in the government shutdown is a Republican policy by noting that the expiration date for the Obamacare subsidies is something Democrats put in place, not the Republicans.

While discussing the expiration of the Affordable Care Act subsidies and the politics of the issue, Raskin said, “I have not heard any Democrats, none have said to me, oh, let’s just allow this terrible Republican policy to go forward so we can beat them on it next year.”

Tapper then said, “Congressman, you called it a terrible Republican policy. Democrats are the ones that put in this end date into these COVID-era Obamacare premium extensions, not Republicans. But, be that as it may, do you have the votes? If Speaker Johnson (R-LA) were to say, okay, fine, we’re going to have a vote on this tomorrow, have you and your Democratic colleagues lobbied five to ten Republicans in the House to support you so that if this were to come up for a vote, it would pass?”

CNN’s Brian Stelter Thinks the Real Tragedy in Murder of Ukrainian Refugee Iryna Zarutska is the Racism of People Who Noticed it

Every time you think CNN can’t drop any lower, somehow, they manage to do it.

In the case of the brutal murder of Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska, CNN’s Brian Stelter seems to think that the real tragedy in this situation is racism, specifically, the racism of Trump supporters for noticing this crime.

This is a new low for him, which is really saying something.

Transcript via Real Clear Politics:

BRIAN STELTER, CNN MEDIA ANALYST: Most murders in the U.S. never become national news. This one’s garnered attention for a couple of reasons. Number one, first and foremost, the recent release of that gruesome video.

Second, the energy from pro-Trump activists. They picked up on this video from local news and ran with it. It’s a little bit like the times when civil rights groups have raised attention about police-involved shootings.

In this case, it is Trump-aligned influencers who are posting up a storm about this case on social media. Really, over the weekend, Elon Musk, Charlie Kirk, other Trump-aligned figures succeeded in making this senseless death a symbol of big-city crime. We heard President Trump asked about it yesterday when he was heading home from New York City.

He didn’t seem to know much about it. He said he would get briefed. And then today, Trump did know all about it.

And that’s exactly what has happened here. This story has trickled up from local news to social media and now to the president’s attention. And it’s being used, as you said, Brianna, as a political symbol, with MAGA media calling for more forceful punishments and more incarceration.

I have to say, some of the replies to Musk, some of the comments around this story are baldly racist, stoking fear of African-Americans because this man attacked a white woman. The open racism on sites like X Today, it’s eye-popping. But there are also legitimate questions about this so-called career criminal, someone who had been a repeat offender.

CNN Now Pushing Conspiracy Theory That Trump is Going to Cancel Future Elections

CNN is now pushing the conspiracy theory, popular among leftists, that President Trump is going to cancel future elections.

For years, while Republicans were out of power, CNN and other liberal media outlets constantly accused people on the right of embracing and pushing conspiracy theories. You know, things like the Hunter Biden laptop, Biden’s mental infirmity, things like that which ultimately turned out to be true.

Now that Democrats are out of power, CNN thinks nothing of pushing untrue conspiracy theories, just because they think it could potentially harm Trump politically.

This is an actual CNN report:

Trump canceling elections? Democrats increasingly sound alarm bells.https://t.co/17MmM4npRH

— Aaron Blake (@AaronBlake) September 2, 2025

From the report:

When President Donald Trump sat down with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky last month, the topic was the weighty issue of ending Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. But at one point, Trump took a provocative diversion into domestic politics.

Zelensky noted that, in his country, the law doesn’t allow for elections during periods of martial law.

“So you say during the war, you can’t have elections,” Trump responded. “So let me just say, three and a half years from now – so you mean, if we happen to be in a war with somebody, no more elections? Oh, that’s good.”

Laughter ensued. Trump wondered aloud what the “fake news” would do with his comment.

But increasingly, Democrats aren’t laughing.

A growing number of them are arguing Trump will do something to either try to cancel or commandeer elections to keep his hold on power.

That might seem ridiculous to some. Trump hasn’t explicitly said he plans to cancel elections, and he said last month he would “probably not” run for a third term, which the Constitution forbids anyway. But the president has certainly floated such possibilities before and done plenty of anti-democratic things.

CNN Panelist Jonah Goldberg Floats Gun Confiscation Fantasy: Democrats Could Deploy Military to Seize Guns from Law-Abiding Americans

Jonah Goldberg, editor-in-chief of The Dispatch and longtime Never-Trumper, suggested that the Democrats could send the military to confiscate firearms from law-abiding Americans.

Goldberg framed his comments during a panel discussion on violent crime in major Democrat-run cities, comparing it to Donald Trump’s efforts to use federal resources to restore order in places like Chicago.

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson signed an executive order last month, titled the “Protecting Chicago Initiative,” aimed at preventing the potential deployment of the National Guard by President Donald Trump to address the city’s rampant crime issues.

Johnson, a far-left Democrat, claims the order is necessary to defend residents’ constitutional rights amid fears of what he calls an “unconstitutional and illegal military occupation.”

The executive order comes as the Trump administration considers using Naval Station Great Lakes, a Navy base near Chicago, as a staging ground for immigration enforcement operations involving more than 200 Department of Homeland Security (DHS) agents.

Trump has been vocal about addressing Chicago’s crime woes, recently stating after deploying the National Guard to Washington, D.C., that his team would “straighten out” Chicago next, calling it “a mess” under an “incompetent mayor.”

During a CNN interview, Goldberg argued that if Republicans set certain precedents (like Trump’s use of power), then Democrats could use the same logic on issues they care about, such as guns.

He claimed if a Democratic governor like Pritzker (IL) or Newsom (CA) says “We have a gun crisis in America”, then under that precedent, they could justify sending in the National Guard to confiscate guns.

CNN Continues to Beclown Themselves in Their Ongoing Quest to ‘Get’ Trump

For a decade now, people in media have been trying to ‘get’ Trump, especially the folks at CNN. It never works and they end up looking like fools, yet they keep repeating the effort as if they’re stuck in a loop.

One recent example came this week when one of their correspondents feigned surprise over Trump calling himself the country’s chief law enforcement officer. She acted shocked as she revealed this on the air.

You could certainly be forgiven for arguing that the Attorney General is the chief law enforcement officer in the land, but the Constitution is pretty explicit about the president’s role.

Take a look at the clip below, and note that the person sharing it is the current Assistant White House Comms Director.

CNN Data Analyst Harry Enten Says Epstein Story Has Become a Political ‘Nothingburger’

For a few weeks now, Democrats have been obsessing on the Epstein story, a topic that they had no interest in until the moment they thought it could be used as a political weapon against Trump.

The air is already leaking out of the issue, however.

CNN data analyst Harry Enten noted today that interest in the issue is way down. He even called it a political nothingburger.

From the Independent, via Yahoo News:

Epstein story has become a ‘nothingburger,’ data expert says

Weeks after being flabbergasted over the amount of interest the American public was showing in Jeffrey Epstein and the Trump administration’s botched handling of the investigation into the deceased sex offender, CNN chief data analyst Harry Enten now claims the issue is “quickly becoming something of a nothingburger.”

Vice President JD Vance unwittingly sparked a new wave of calls to release the so-called “Epstein Files” when he attempted to mock Democrats “who are now all of a sudden so interested” in the case during a Sunday interview with Fox News host Maria Bartiromo…

“I would say that this is, from at least a political point of view, quickly turning into a dud of a story,” Enten said on CNN News Central, causing anchor Kate Bolduan to remark how “wild” it was that interest had fallen off.

“Take a look here. Google searches for Epstein down 89 percent versus just three weeks ago. Falling through the floor,” an animated Ented exclaimed. “It is no longer the top term searched alongside Donald Trump‘s name – that‘s been trading off between tariffs and Vladimir Putin, with obviously the meeting coming up later this week.”

He added: “But at this particular point, the American people‘s interest in this story – it‘s quickly becoming something of a nothingburger!”

Pelosi Panics on CNN When Pressed About Insider Trading

Nancy Pelosi appeared rattled and visibly annoyed during a CNN interview this week when anchor Jake Tapper confronted her with Donald Trump’s accusations of insider trading. The former House speaker had joined the program to discuss the 60th anniversary of Medicaid, but things quickly went off-script when Tapper tried to bring up Trump’s pointed remarks.

Tapper began to quote Trump, saying, “Nancy Pelosi became rich—” before Pelosi abruptly cut him off. “Why—why do you have to read that?” she snapped, clearly not happy with where the discussion was going.

Tapper attempted to defuse the tension, saying he just wanted to give her a chance to respond to Trump’s claims. But Pelosi was having none of it. “We’re here to talk about the 60th anniversary of Medicaid. That’s what I agreed to come to talk about,” she protested.

The tension only escalated as Tapper continued, “He accused you of insider trading. What’s your response to that?”

Pelosi has long faced accusations of insider trading due to her husband Paul Pelosi’s lucrative stock trades, often timed around key congressional actions. Critics allege the Pelosis have profited from privileged information, pointing to trades involving companies like NVIDIA, Apple, and Visa that coincided with legislation affecting those industries. Watchdog groups and bipartisan lawmakers have pushed for stricter regulations or outright bans on congressional stock trading.

CNN Slammed For Labeling Black NYC Shooter “Possibly White” In Latest Example Of Fake News Lies

Leftist mainstream media outlet CNN is being blasted online for falsely labeling black 27-year-old New York City gunman Shane Tamura, who killed three citizens and a police officer on Monday, a “possibly white” suspect.

A photo of the suspect that was going around during a manhunt while he was still on the loose and a copy of his concealed firearms permit clearly show a non-white male.

Meanwhile, CNN anchor Erin Burnett told viewers that police knew “he is, a male, possibly white. He’s wearing sunglasses.”
