New Complaint Calls for Investigation Into Southern Poverty Law Center’s Tax Exempt Status

Calls to investigate the tax-exempt status of the far-left extremists at the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) are increasing with a new complaint filed with federal authorities. The complaint calls for a full review of the organization’s status as a “charitable” organization.  The charitable designation offers significant tax benefits to the organization.

The Federalist reports that the Center to Advance Security in America (CASA) submitted a complaint to Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Acting Commissioner Scott Bessent, requesting a full review in light of the SPLC’s “hyper-partisan political activity.”

CASA Director James Fitzpatrick told The Federalist, “American taxpayers should not be expected to subsidize an organization that engages in daily attacks on Republicans, compares those who hold mainstream conservative beliefs to the KKK, and who consistently labels conservatives as engaging in ‘hate’ without any reference to any other political parties or ideologies.”

“We believe the American people are entitled to a full investigation into this urgent matter.”

Per The Federalist:

Addressed to Treasury Secretary and Acting IRS Commissioner Scott Bessent, the legal complaint obtained by The Federalist requests that the federal agency launch an investigation into the SPLC over “several serious concerns about [its] compliance with federal law regarding tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) including but not limited to it no longer fulfilling a charitable purpose and its partisan political activity.”

As described by the nonprofit watchdog InfluenceWatch, the SPLC is a “controversial left-of-center advocacy group that claims to be a watchdog of extremist groups.” The organization “has been criticized for its financial practices and for characterizing non-violent conventional conservative organizations as equivalent to violent extremists.”

As further noted by Fitzpatrick in CASA’s complaint to the IRS, the SPLC “liken[s] normal, mainstream, conservative beliefs, to that of the KKK” and labels “political candidates and government officials, only Republicans, on their hate lists or hate watch articles.” The leftist group notably characterized Turning Point USA — the organization founded by the recently assassinated Charlie Kirk — as a “hard right” group that embraces “white nationalist” conspiracies.

Fitzpatrick went on to note that the SPLC’s status as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt “charitable” organization allows it to “raise money or financing while avoiding state and federal income taxes, unemployment taxes, and in some cases property or other state taxes.” This also means that donors’ financial contributions to the group can be tax deductible.

A few months before Charlie Kirk’s political assassination, SPLC’s “Year in Hate and Extremism” report, named Turning Point USA (TPUSA) a “hate group.”

Three years on, the ‘significant sum’ paid out by Prince Andrew has still not reached accuser Virginia Giuffre’s charity

The money Prince Andrew gave his accuser’s charity still hasn’t been paid to the organisation three years after their settlement, The Mail on Sunday can reveal.

The ‘significant’ sum – which is thought to be in the millions – has yet to be sent to Speak Out, Act, Reclaim (SOAR) which was founded by Virginia Giuffre.

The Duke of York agreed to pay the money following his £10 million agreement with Ms Giuffre in February 2022 to settle the sexual battery lawsuit she filed against him.

He always denied her claims and insists the settlement was not an admission of wrongdoing.

But SOAR has yet to formally launch as a non-profit group, and its predecessor, Victims Refuse Silence, lost its charitable status in 2023.

A source said the money would get to SOAR ‘eventually’.

Ms Giuffre, who took her life in April at 41, accused the duke of having sex with her three times when she was 17 after she was trafficked by paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

The money was a key to Ms Giuffre’s hopes to become a global campaigner for victims of sexual abuse.

Instead, Victims Refuse Silence, which was active when she got the settlement, is defunct and had its charitable status revoked by America’s Internal Revenue Service in 2023 for failing to file tax returns.

SOAR’s website went online after the arrest and suicide of Epstein in 2019, but no US company records exist for it, nor is it registered with the IRS as a non-profit group.

A source close to Ms Giuffre said the duke’s money had not been spent, but would not say where it was.

The state of Ms Giuffre’s finances were revealed during the probate of her estate in Perth, western Australia, where she lived.

She died without a will, meaning it could take years before her estate is distributed, potentially further delaying the payment.

Her family also want SOAR to get the proceeds from her memoir, due out in October. But that could be in doubt as it is not yet a non-profit.

Another source said: ‘The sad thing is that this money has not gone to help victims. The money is in legal limbo. With the mess Virginia’s death left, it’s likely to remain in limbo for a long time.’

Ms Giuffre’s family did not reply to requests to comment.

Family of Teen Murder Suspect Karmelo Anthony Plans to Use Portion of $400K in Donations for New Home and Private Security After ‘Racist Threats’

The family of 17-year-old murder suspect Karmelo Anthony revealed to use a portion of the $400,000 in online donations—originally raised for legal defense—to buy a new home and hire private security, citing “racist threats” they claim to have received following the fatal stabbing of Austin Metcalf, a 17-year-old student and beloved member of his high school’s football team.

The shocking revelation came during a court hearing in which Anthony’s bond was reduced from $1 million to $250,000 by Judge Angela Tucker of the 199th Judicial District Court, with only 10% required for his release.

With the donation pot overflowing, Anthony is expected to be released imminently, free to await trial from the comfort of his family’s home—soon to be a new one, thanks to donations from far-left sympathizers, activists, and others buying into the narrative of victimhood.

During a recent court hearing, Andrew Anthony, the teen’s father, admitted that the hefty sum raised for the legal defense fund would also fund their relocation and security measures, citing alleged “racist threats” after their address was leaked online, according to the Daily Mail.

Innocent Grandma Arrested, Brought to Jail for Feeding the Homeless

In a logical and reasonable world, acts of kindness should be spotlighted and celebrated. Those carrying them out should be praised and their actions should set an example for all to follow. Unfortunately, however, we do not live in a reasonable world and acts of kindness are oftentimes met with force, loss of freedom, and sheer tyranny — just ask 78-year-old Norma Thornton.

For much of her life, Norma has been dedicating her time to helping those in need. As she moved from city to city throughout her 78 years on Earth, Norma would befriend the homeless population in each town and feed them. She cooks homemade meals, cleans their laundry, helps them connect with social services, and more.

For decades, Norma has improved the lives of countless individuals who have found themselves down on their luck. But when she got to Bullhead City, Ariz., all that changed. Because Bullhead City officials are not reasonable, Norma was kidnapped by armed agents of the state and threatened with being thrown in a cage — for giving hungry people food.

In Bullhead City, tyrannical officials have deemed it a criminal misdemeanor—punishable by fines and even imprisonment—to share prepared food in a public park “for charitable purposes.”

Highlighting the sheer lack of reason and logic is the “charitable purposes” portion of this ordinance. Norma could invite 150 of her friends and relatives to the park, cook for them, and feed them all and she wouldn’t be in violation of any law. But if those friends are homeless, the act becomes charitable, and therefore illegal.

Luckily, the folks with Institute for Justice have taken up Norma’s case and they are suing the city over this cruel and inhumane law.

Catholic Charities Christmas Pantry Denies Food, Toys To Needy If They’re Unvaxxed, Unmasked

A charitable Christmas food pantry run by the Catholic Charities of Eastern Washington will deny food to needy families if they are not wearing a face mask, have not been vaccinated, or cannot prove they do not have COVID-19.

According to their secular-themed website, the Christmas Bureau of Spokane, Washington requires individuals to wear face masks and provide “proof of COVID vaccination” or “proof of negative PCR test within the past 72 hours” to be served.

The website claims that the Christmas Bureau “is an annual holiday assistance program.”

It is “coordinated by Catholic Charities of Eastern Washington, Volunteers of America, and the Spokesman-Review.”

Those who have not been vaccinated or are unable to prove their COVID-19 status will be ineligible to receive vouchers to help pay for groceries, or toys for their children.
