The death of Colombian senator and presidential pre-candidate Miguel Uribe Turbay, which occurred today, August 11, 2025, after two months in critical condition due to an armed attack, has shaken Colombia and the continent.

This tragic event, perpetrated on June 7, 2025, by a hitman barely 15 years old, not only claimed the life of a prominent conservative leader from the Democratic Center party, but has also raised alarms about the deterioration of democracy in Colombia under the government of Gustavo Petro.

Uribe Turbay, known for his staunch opposition to Petro’s leftist policies, became a symbol of resistance to what many perceive as an authoritarian drift.

On June 7, 2025, Miguel Uribe Turbay was shot in Bogotá by a teenager who fired at close range.
The senator was struck twice, once in the head, and was rushed to a hospital where he remained in critical condition until his death.

The attack, described by Interior Minister Armando Benedetti as a possible “link in a chain of terrorist attacks,” evoked the worst moments of political violence in Colombia, such as the assassinations of leaders in the 1980s and 1990s.

Uribe Turbay, 38, was a rising figure within the Democratic Center, the party founded by former president Álvaro Uribe.

His critical stance on Petro’s social and economic reforms—especially regarding security and relations with armed groups—made him a target of threats.

Israeli Strike on Tent in Gaza Kills Five Al Jazeera Journalists

An Israeli airstrike on Sunday night targeted a tent outside the gates of the al-Shia Hospital in Gaza City and killed five Al Jazeera journalists, including 28-year-old Anas al-Sharif, a well-known reporter who had a large following on X.

Al Jazeera said that the other four journalists killed in the bombing were correspondent Mohammed Qreiqeh and three cameramen: Ibrahim Zaher, Mohammed Noufal, and Moamen Aliwa. Two other people were also killed in the bombing.

Just minutes before he was killed, al-Sharif said in a post on X that Israel was escalating its bombing of Gaza City. “Relentless bombardment,” he wrote. “For two hours, the Israeli aggression has intensified on Gaza City.”

The Israeli military acknowledged that it deliberately targeted al-Sharif, claiming that he was a “Hamas terrorist” who “posed as an Al Jazeera journalist.” Last month, the Committee to Protect Journalists issued a warning about the Israeli military’s smears against Sharif, saying it was likely a precursor to his assassination.

“We are deeply alarmed by the repeated threats made by Israeli army spokesperson Avichay Adraee against Al Jazeera’s Gaza correspondent Anas al-Sharif and call on the international community to protect him,” said CPJ Regional Director Sara Qudah.

“This is not the first time Al-Sharif has been targeted by the Israeli military, but the danger to his life is now acute. Israel has killed at least six Al Jazeera journalists in Gaza during this war. These latest unfounded accusations represent an effort to manufacture consent to kill al-Sharif,” Qudah added.

In a post on X at the time, al-Sharif responded to the Israeli smears against him. “I reaffirm: I, Anas al-Sharif, am a journalist with no political affiliations. My only mission is to report the truth from the ground — as it is, without bias,” he said. “At a time when a deadly famine is ravaging Gaza, speaking the truth has become, in the eyes of the occupation, a threat.”

‘I’m gonna watch him bleed out’: Trump assassination threat suspect armed with explosives offered detailed information about plans to kill POTUS at rally, feds say

A convicted felon in Georgia is behind bars for threatening to kill President Donald Trump in several posts on a TikTok livestream, according to federal authorities.

Jauan Rashun Porter, 29, stands accused of one count of threats against the president and successors to the presidency, according to a 7-page criminal complaint filed in the Northern District of Georgia.

The defendant is a resident of Rome – a medium-sized city located roughly 70 miles northwest of Atlanta – and has previously been convicted of multiple crimes including making terroristic threats, influencing a witness, committing mutiny in a penal institution, drug possession, battery, possessing a firearm as a convicted felon and domestic violence, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Porter’s latest alleged offenses occurred during a TikTok livestream on July 26, according to the complaint. The livestream was about Trump and captioned “Alligator Alcatraz,” a reference to an expansive immigrant detention camp constructed out of repurposed FEMA trailers and soft-sided tents in the Florida Everglades.

Authorities alleged Porter made numerous – often explicit – posts expressing his desire to shoot and kill the 45th and 47th president.

“So there’s only one way to make America great and that is putting a bullet in between Trump’s eyes,” the user said on the livestream.

Similar comments were made several times.

“I’m gonna kill Donald Trump,” the defendant allegedly said.

“I’m gonna put a 7.62 bullet inside of his forehead,” Porter allegedly added, an apparent reference to a common caliber of medium-range ammunition, popularly known as a “Soviet short round” due to its original production as the native bullet for the Kalashnikov rifle, or AK-47. “I’m gonna watch him bleed out and I’m gonna watch him die…I’m gonna do that. Yes. Yes. Me.”

In response to others asking the user to repeat the statements, he allegedly taunted: “I could say it three more times for you.”

In response to a request for his location, Porter allegedly said: “You’ll know. It’ll be on the news… his [POTUS’] rally is coming up pretty soon and I’m going there and I’m going to put a bullet in his head.”

Then, roughly one minute into the video, the defendant allegedly said: “I am going to kill the President of the United States.” Seconds later, the livestream host warned the user about receiving an FBI visit. This warning, however, did not seem to sway him. The man allegedly responded: “I’m gonna kill them too…and then kill myself.”

The host of the livestream finally chafed at the violent language and asked: “Do you think saying something like that is normal behavior?”

The accused user replied: “Normal behavior would be speaking on something and then doing it,” according to the complaint.

Files Of A Would-Be Assassin – Thomas Crooks’ Internet Search History Revealed

Headline USA has obtained a partial internet search history of alleged would-be Trump assassin Thomas Crooks. Read it here for the first time.

The search history comes from a trove of data from the Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC), where Crooks attended from 2022 to 2024—graduating in the spring of last year with an associate degree in engineering science. The search history is only for the times Crooks was using CCAC wifi, which was about three days per week when school was in session. The vast majority of his internet footprint, including the countless hours he spent online at his house, is still a mystery.

CBS News and The New York Times also obtained the CCAC search history, and both outlets published stories about it last month. However, they didn’t publish the raw data.

When this author saw the CBS article, he asked the CCAC for the same search history information. In response, a CCAC official provided four files of “Graylog” data, which only showed jumbled-up code. The CCAC official said that CBS and New York Times both “reversed engineered” the Graylog code to make it readable.

Eventually, this reporter was able to find a computer whiz to do the same. Apparently, deciphering the data was simple—just a matter of renaming the files and running the script again.

While CBS reported many of the pertinent facts about Crooks’s search history, the raw data  does reveal previously unreported information.

For instance, Crooks visited mainstream news sites such as The Hill, Aljazeera, CNBS, The Wall Street Journal and CNN, along with more niche sites such as compositesworld.com and foodsafetynews.com. He also visited the State Department’s website, www.state.gov, once on Oct. 10 at 12:50 p.m.—a visit that wasn’t reported by CBS or the Times. That visit occurred right after Crooks was browsing winteriscoming.net, which is a Game of Thrones fan site.

Dystopian moment prosecutor is murdered after his Cadillac Escalade was blown up at intersection in broad daylight

Terrifying video footage shows the moment a prosecutor was ambushed and killed in the Mexican border city of Reynosa on Monday.

Ernesto Vázquez was driving his black Cadillac Escalade when a gang of assassins launched their attack on him on Hidalgo Boulevard, brazenly tossing a grenade at the back of the vehicle during afternoon rush hour .

While clearly in agonizing pain, Vázquez was able to get out of the vehicle on his own and crawled across the pavement.

The assailants then pulled up in a white Ford Explorer and opened fire on the defenseless official.

Additional video footage showed prosecutor’s body on the ground as stunned motorists rode past the scene of the attack.

Moments later, a bystander was seen dragging Vázquez away from the blown-up vehicle, which was engulfed in flames.

Vázquez was a prosecutor who joined the Federal Attorney General’s Office in 2019 and was its senior representative at the Tamaulipas State Attorney General’s Office.

The assault took place just four miles from the entrance of the Reynosa-Hidalgo International Bridge that links Reynosa with Hidalgo, Texas and about one mile from the Tamaulipas State Attorney General’s Office headquarters.

Authorities recovered the Ford Explorer around 10pm just blocks away from the attack.

Tamaulipas Governor Américo Villarreal denounced the deadly assault in a statement on X.

‘From the Government of Tamaulipas, we condemn the murder of the Attorney General’s Office Delegate in the state,’ Villarreal wrote. ‘We stand in solidarity with his family and reiterate our full willingness to assist the Attorney General’s Office and the Government of Mexico in the pursuit of justice and the construction of peace.’

The Reynosa Chamber of Commerce president, Gildardo López, told El Norte newspaper that Vázquez’s murder could negatively impact trade with the United States.

‘Our city will fall into a binational trade crisis again,’ he warned.

López added that it is only a matter of time before the U.S. Embassy reveals a travel advisory warning against travel to Tamaulipas.

‘Our city will be commercially paralyzed for a potentially long period,’ he said.

Judge Cannon Rules Trump Would-Be Assassin Ryan Routh Cannot Access Classified Evidence Government Presented in His Case

Judge Aileen Cannon on Friday ruled that Trump would-be assassin Ryan Routh cannot access the classified evidence that the government presented in his case.

The government presented classified evidence to Judge Cannon and she kept it under seal.

“The United States’ Motion and all accompanying material are hereby SEALED, and shall remain preserved in custody of the Classified Information Security Officer, in accordance with established court security procedures, to made available to the appellate court in the event of an appeal,” Judge Cannon wrote.

It is unclear what the classified evidence is related to, however, it was previously reported that Ryan Routh was flagged by federal agents after he returned from a trip to Ukraine but Biden’s DHS never took any further action.

Ryan Routh traveled to Ukraine and fought for 8 months before returning to the US.

His social media accounts were littered with pro-Ukraine propaganda and he even appeared in a video with the AZOV soldiers.

“Subject is a USC who had traveled to Kiev, Ukraine for 3 months to help recruit Soldiers from Afghanistan, Moldova, and Taiwan, to fight in the Ukrainian war against Russia,” the CBP interview notes said according to Just The News.

“Subject stated that he does not get paid for his recruiting efforts and all his work for the Ukrainian government is strictly volunteer work Subject provided his recruiting business card (cards have been uploaded into the event) which list his recruiting partners that he speaks with to recruit soldiers from Afghanistan, Romanian, Pakistan, Syria, and Israel,” the note added, according to Just The News. “Subject stated that he obtains money from his wife to help fund his trips to Ukraine.”

Last year federal prosecutors charged Ryan Routh with attempted assassination of a major presidential candidate after he pushed the muzzle of his rifle through the fence line at Trump’s West Palm Beach golf course.

Ryan Routh was previously charged with two federal gun crimes: Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession (max penalty of 15 years in prison and $250,000 fine), and receipt of a firearm with an obliterated serial number (max penalty of 5 years in prison and a $250,000 fine).

Routh set up a sniper’s nest in the shrubbery outside the perimeter of Trump’s golf course in West Palm Beach.

Virginia City Councilman Vogler Sustained Third-Degree Burns on 63% of His Body – Suspect Admits It Was His ‘Intention to Kill’ Vogler

Danville, Virginia, City Councilman Lee Vogler was doused in gasoline and set on fire in his office on Tuesday.

According to reports, the attacker, identified as Shotsie Michael Buck Hayes, 29, of Danville, threw five gallons of gasoline on Vogler before setting him on fire.

Danville police said the attack appears to be personal and not related to Vogler’s position as a city councilman.

The Daily Mail reported that Shotsie Michael Buck Hayes’ wife filed for divorce just two weeks ago.

Showcase Magazine’s Andrew Brooks said Buck-Hayes forced his way in the magazine’s office as Vogler was visiting and poured a five-gallon container of gas on him.

“Lee attempted to flee, ran to the front of the building,” Showcase Magazine owner Andrew Brooks said in a Facebook video. “The individual followed him and set him on fire.”

Vogler was flown to the UNC burn unit in Chapel Hill, according to WSET.

Son of Would-Be Trump Assassin Ryan Routh Sentenced to 7 Years For Child P*rn

Oran Routh, son of would-be assassin Ryan Routh who was arrested last year for child pornography, was sentenced to 7 years in prison.

“On Friday morning, Oran Routh appeared in federal court for sentencing for a count of possessing child pornography of a child under the age of 12. He pleaded guilty to this charge in exchange for his other charges, which included multiple counts of possessing and transporting child pornography, being dismissed,” WGHP reported.

“The judge sentenced him to 7 years in prison with 5 years of supervised probation,” the outlet reported.

Oran Routh was taken into custody after investigators found hundreds of child porn files on his Galaxy Note during a search of his North Carolina residence last year.

“A review of the SD card located in Device-1 revealed that it contained hundreds of child pornography files,” prosecutors wrote in the criminal complaint, according to ABC News. “These files include videos from a known child pornography series created outside the state of North Carolina.”

Oran previously spoke with the Daily Mail about his father.

Ryan Routh is currently in federal custody on charges of attempting to assassinate a major presidential candidate and other firearms violations.

“My dad hates Trump like every reasonable person does.” He even went so far as to say, “I don’t like Trump either,” but in the next breath tried to downplay his father’s actions, claiming, “He’s not a violent person.”

“He’s my dad and all he’s had is couple traffic tickets, as far as I know… That’s crazy. I know my dad and love my dad, but that’s nothing like him.”

“He said he was at the beach, but I thought that meant the outer banks in Hawaii,” Oran said.

The father and son had reportedly had a “falling out,” though Oran declined to elaborate on the reasons.

“I didn’t ask him for more information because we’ve had a falling out. We’ve grown apart.”

Despite their distance, Oran insisted, “He’s not a violent person. He’s a hard worker and a great dad. He’s a great dude, a nice guy and has worked his whole f***king life.”

Suspected Minnesota assassin claims he was part of a 2-year undercover investigation

Suspected assassin Vance Luther Boelter said that before the gruesome June 14 killings in suburban Minneapolis, he was part of an undercover investigation of what he called the “sudden and unexpected deaths of 400 Minnesota citizens and ties between Minnesota politicians and the Chinese government.”

In his latest bizarre exchange with the media, the jailed Boelter continued to spin wild tales that allegedly explain the shooting rampage that killed state Rep. Melissa Hortman (DFL-Brooklyn Park) and her husband, Mark, and seriously wounded state Sen. John Hoffman (DFL-Champlin) and his wife, Yvette.

Boelter was indicted on six federal charges for murder, stalking, and firearms violations that could bring the death penalty upon conviction. He will be arraigned on Sept. 12 in Minneapolis. His court-appointed attorney says he will plead not guilty to all charges.

In a message sent from the Sherburne County Jail to Alpha News, Boelter referred to himself in the third person.

“Prior to June 14. Unknown to his wife, family, friends, and coworkers, Dr. Vance Boelter EdD had conducted a two-year-long undercover investigation into the sudden and unexpected deaths of 400 Minnesota citizens, and ties between Minnesota politicians and the Chinese government,” Boelter wrote. “Evidence will be forthcoming.”

Boelter did not offer more details on the alleged deaths. The statement about politicians and China could be a reference to Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D), who made dozens of trips to China since his youth in Nebraska.

Amid Calls For Epstein Files, Trump Admin Releases 230,000 MLK Documents

As U.S. President Donald Trump and congressional Republicans stonewall efforts to keep the full files on deceased financier and convicted child sex criminal Jeffrey Epstein under wraps, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard on Monday released a long-anticipated massive trove of documents related to the 1968 assassination of Martin Luther King Jr., despite opposition from his family.

“Today, after nearly 60 years of questions surrounding the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., we are releasing 230,000 MLK assassination files, available now at http://archives.gov/mlk,” Gabbard said on the social media site X. “The documents include details about the FBI’s investigation into the assassination of MLK, discussion of potential leads, internal FBI memos detailing the progress of the case, information about James Earl Ray’s former cellmate who stated he discussed with Ray an alleged assassination plot, and more.”

“Thanks to President Donald Trump’s leadership, Executive Order 14176 resulted in three, unprecedented interagency efforts to identify, digitize, declassify, and release files related to the federal government’s investigations into the assassinations of President John F. Kennedy, Sen. Robert F. Kennedy, and Dr. King,” Gabbard added.

However, many of the MLK documents remain heavily redacted.

Responding to the MLK files’ publication, the King family said in a statement: “As the children of Dr. King and Mrs. Coretta Scott King, his tragic death has been an intensely personal grief—a devastating loss for his wife, children, and the granddaughter he never met—an absence our family has endured for over 57 years. We ask those who engage with the release of these files to do so with empathy, restraint, and respect for our family’s continuing grief.”
