Under fire from President Trump for its botched handling of the coronavirus pandemic, the World Health Organization has reached out to a high powered PR firm with the mission to find celebrity influencers who can sing the praises of the embattled United Nations agency and boost its public image.
The WHO signed a $135,000 contract on May 1 with Hill + Knowlton Strategies to reach out to influencers of all stripes, including celebrities with more than 1 million followers on social media, according to documents filed this week to the Justice Department.
Hill + Knowlton outlined a plan of action in its proposal that was included in the filing.
“There has been criticism and assertions leveled against the World Health Organization (WHO) and media coverage that could undermine WHO as a trusted and critical information source on global public health issues,” the PR firm wrote. The objective is to “ensure there is trust in the WHO’s advice and that public health guidance is followed.”
In addition to celebrity influencers, Hill + Knowlton said that it will identify “microinfluencers” who have smaller, niche followings, as well as lesser known people such as health experts who appear on news programs.
The Russians are coming — again.
Joe Biden, the presumptive 2020 Democratic nominee, warned Americans on Friday that Russia would again try to interfere in the presidential election, just as they did in 2016.
The former vice president said he is now receiving intelligence briefings on the matter, Reuters reported.
“We know from before, and I guarantee you that I know now, because now I get briefings again. The Russians are still engaged in trying to delegitimize our electoral process. Fact,” Biden said during an online fundraiser for his campaign. In the same event Biden also warned that China was getting in on the act to with maneuvers “designed for us to lose confidence in the outcome”

The Joe Biden-friendly Establishment media has mounted a full-court press to “prove” that Biden is, well, not a crook. The stakes are extremely high, Biden is vulnerable, and media players are using to a fare-thee-well the old adage about the best defense is a good offense. The New York Times, The Washington Post, and The Wall Street Journal are desperately trying to steal the ball and get ahead in the publicity game. But time is about to run out, and pre-emptive propaganda is unlikely to snatch victory out of the jaws of defeat. IF the facts do come out and IF they are reported, Biden’s presidential hopes may suffer a mortal blow.
When the corruption in which the former Vice President and his son Hunter were involved in Ukraine becomes more widely known, the press wants to be in a position to “show” that it’s all the fault of President Donald Trump and his lawyers for trying to derail Biden’s candidacy by exposing him. If past is precedent, the media will largely succeed. The question is whether enough people will, nevertheless, be able to see through this all-too-familiar charade.
Intelligence coming from the USA is indicating that the abuses against Uighur Muslims in Western China could be the worst crime since World War II.
Nusrat Ghani is Conservative MP for Wealden and she has been campaigning about the Uighur Genocide for some time now. She told Iain Dale that she is currently “trying to change the dialogue and get the UK government to incorporate the abuses that are taking place against the Uighur within the Magnitsky Act” which is a new law which allows government to seize assets of people committing serious crimes, if they have assets in the UK.
She told Iain that the Americans “have enough evidence against Chinese officials to say that they should have sanctions against them.”
“They are running state run detention centres with 2 million people incarcerated with at least half a million uighur children removed from their parents.” This, in dictionary terms, along with the apparent forced sterilisation of people in the “reeducation camps” constitutes a genocide, according to Ms Ghani.
“We can say it’s a genocide and we don’t have to be careful with the language” she said
