Western Media Manufactured Consent for Israel’s Murder of Palestinian Journalists

Israel’s targeted assassination of six Palestinian media members in the Gaza Strip on August 10 sent shockwaves through the journalism community. Though the murder of journalists has been a common tool of the Israeli’s government’s suppression of information coming out of Gaza, the loss of Al Jazeera‘s Anas al-Sharif was particularly harrowing.

Many of us had been moved by al-Sharif’s heart-wrenching coverage, from watching him remove his press vest in relief when a ceasefire was announced (1/19/25), to seeing a languid al-Sharif reporting on the famine (7/21/25) as people fainted around him. “Keep going, Anas, don’t stop,” said a voice off-camera. “You are our voice.”

Three of the victims were al-Sharif’s colleagues at Al Jazeera, one of the few media outlets that was able to keep journalists reporting in Gaza despite Israel’s blockade. As millions around the world grieved not just for al-Sharif but for his colleagues Mohammed Qreiqeh, Mohammed Noufal and Ibrahim Zaher, and freelancers Moamen Aliwa and Mohammad al-Khaldi, we were also gravely concerned about the vacuum their murders created of on-the-ground coverage of the genocide.

Establishment media, however, used these courageous journalists’ murders as an opportunity to continue parroting the same Zionist talking points that contributed to manufacturing consent for their killings. FAIR looked at 15 different news outlets’ initial coverage of the murders: the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, Fox, BBC, Politico, Newsweek, Associated Press and Reuters.

We found that they overwhelmingly centered Israel’s narrative, attempted to delegitimize pro-Palestinian sources, and failed to contextualize the killings within the larger context of the genocide.

Scientists Find First Evidence of Rare Compounds in Cannabis Leaves

Scientists in South Africa say they have found the first evidence of a rare class of phenolics, called ‘flavoalkaloids’, in leaves from the cannabis plant.

Phenolic compounds, especially flavonoids, are well-known and sought after in the pharmaceutical industry because of their antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-carcinogenic properties.

Researchers from Stellenbosch University have identified 79 phenolic compounds in three strains of cannabis grown commercially in South Africa, of which 25 were reported in the plant for the first time.

Sixteen of these compounds were tentatively identified as ‘flavoalkaloids’, and were mainly found in the leaves of only one of the strains. The findings are published in the Journal of Chromatography A,

First author, Dr Magriet Muller, an analytical chemist in the LC-MS laboratory of the Central Analytical Facility (CAF) at Stellenbosch University, says the analysis of plant phenolics is challenging due to their low concentration and extreme structural diversity.

“Most plants contain highly complex mixtures of phenolic compounds, and while flavonoids occur widely in the plant kingdom, the flavoalkaloids are very rare in nature,” she explains.

“We know that Cannabis is extremely complex – it contains more than 750 metabolites – but we did not expect such high variation in phenolic profiles between only three strains, nor to detect so many compounds for the first time in the species. Especially the first evidence of flavoalkaloids in Cannabis was very exciting.”

Neo-Nazi sent to women’s prison after changing gender

A prominent right-wing extremist who once dismissed transgender people as fascists and “parasites on society” has won permission to serve a prison sentence in a German women’s jail after formally changing gender.

Marla-Svenja Liebich, 53, who until December went by the first name Sven, was convicted of inciting hatred, criminal insults and trespassing and handed an 18-month sentence for, among other things, trying to sell a baseball bat over the internet as a “deportation aid”.

Questions are now being raised as to whether the neo-Nazi exploited a recent reform that made it significantly easier for people to alter their officially registered gender.

Under previous German law, gender reassignment required two separate supporting opinions from medical specialists. In November, however, the last government’s self-determination act reduced the threshold to simply signing a form at a local registry office.

Liebich has been a leader on the east German extreme-right scene since the Nineties, and ran the regional chapter of an explicitly Nazi organisation called Blood and Honour in Saxony-Anhalt. Blood and Honour was banned in 2000.

Liebich later organised numerous demonstrations in Halle, his native city, where the local branch of Germany’s domestic intelligence agency described Liebich’s activities as “unparalleled” across the entire country.

In recent years Liebich has campaigned energetically in support of the Putin regime and its war against Ukraine, selling the Russian ultra-nationalist “Z” symbol through his various social media channels.

FBI Raids Former National Security Adviser John Bolton’s Maryland Home

The FBI has raided the Maryland home of Trump’s former National Security Adviser, John Bolton.

On Friday morning, at 7 a.m., FBI agents raided Bolton’s Bethesda, Maryland, home in an investigation that FBI Director Kash Patel is leading.

The investigation is reportedly linked to a classified documents probe years ago, but was later shut down under the Biden administration.

Marco Rubio Slams the Brakes on Employment Visas for Foreign Truck Drivers After Fatal Crash Involving Illegal Alien

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has issued an immediate freeze on all employment visas for commercial truck drivers, declaring that the growing number of foreign drivers on American roads is “endangering American lives and undercutting the livelihoods of American truckers.”

The directive follows a shocking August 12 crash on the Florida Turnpike.

Harjinder Singh, a 28-year-old Indian national who reportedly entered the U.S. illegally in 2018, performed an unauthorized U-turn through an “Official Use Only” zone.

His tractor-trailer blocked traffic, resulting in a fatal collision with a minivan that claimed the lives of three innocent Americans.

State and federal investigators later confirmed that Singh lacked English proficiency, failing to correctly identify road signs or answer basic language questions.

According to Homeland Security:

“Harjinder Singh, an illegal alien from India who killed three innocent people, FAILED an English Language Proficiency assessment. Singh provided correct responses to just 2 of 12 verbal questions and only accurately identifying 1 of 4 highway traffic signs.

And yet, Gavin Newsom’s sanctuary California gave this illegal alien who cannot speak English a Commercial Drivers License to drive an 18-wheeler.

DHS will work with [U.S. Department of Transportation] to root out and prevent illegal aliens from obtaining these licenses from sanctuary jurisdictions that put American drivers and passengers in danger.”

US Space Command Prepares For Satellite Vs. Satellite Combat

Late last year, an American military satellite and a French counterpart carried out a delicate orbital maneuver that signals a new phase in U.S. space operations. The two conducted a rendezvous and proximity operation (RPO) near an undisclosed foreign satellite (likely Russian), testing the ability to approach, inspect, and potentially manipulate another nation’s asset.

According to General Stephen Whiting, head of U.S. Space Command, the exercise demonstrated close coordination with France and reflected growing threats in orbit. “The French have talked about Russian maneuvers [near French satellites] over the years,” Gen. Whiting said. “And so…we demonstrated that we could both maneuver satellites near each other and near other countries’ satellites in a way that signaled our ability to operate well together.”

The success of the exercise, the first of its kind between the U.S. and a country outside the Five Eyes intelligence alliance, has prompted plans to repeat it later this year, according to The Economist.

Space Command, re-established in 2019 during President Donald Trump’s first term, has largely focused until now on building its headquarters and expanding staff. Gen. Whiting says that phase is over. “We now have a combatant command focused on war fighting in space,” he said.

Two developments are driving that shift:

  • Rising reliance on satellites for military operations. Gen. Whiting noted that America’s strike on Iran in June was “space enabled.”
  • Expanding threats from China and Russia. Since 2015, Chinese satellite launches have increased eightfold, and Beijing’s capabilities now surpass Russia’s, U.S. officials say. China, Russia, and India have all tested destructive anti-satellite weapons, and Washington accuses Moscow of developing an orbital nuclear weapon capable of disabling thousands of low-Earth orbit satellites.

Guess we don’t have space lasers after all?

“We’re Gonna Punch These Sons of B*tches in the Mouth” – Newsom Threatens MAGA, Lashes Out at Texas Republicans For Passing New Congressional Map

California Governor Gavin Newsom (D) lashed out at Texas Republicans for passing a new Congressional map that gives the GOP five more US House seats.

Last week, the Texas House failed to achieve quorum for the sixth time since early August, stalling the GOP’s redistricting plan. Only 95 lawmakers showed up for the 10 a.m. session, once again falling short of the 100 needed to reach a quorum.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and Texas Governor Greg Abbott threatened the derelict Democrats with arrest and removal from office if they didn’t return to the Capitol.

After two weeks on the run, Texas Democrats finally returned to the Capitol this week.

On Wednesday, the Texas House of Representatives approved a redistricting plan that hands five additional U.S. House seats to Republicans, cementing the GOP’s dominance in the state delegation from 25 to a potential 30 out of 38 seats.

The Texas House of Representatives passed the congressional redistricting bill by an 88–52 partisan vote.

Newsom went off on Texas Republicans during an appearance on The Siren podcast on Wednesday and threatened to punch back with his own redistricting map.

“This is radical rigging of a midterm election,” Newsom told The Siren podcast on Wednesday. “Radical rigging of an election. Destroying, vandalizing this democracy, the rule of law. So, I’m sorry. I know some people’s sensibilities. I respect and appreciate that. But right now, with all due respect, we’re walking down a damn different path. We’re fighting fire with fire. And we’re gonna punch these sons of bitches in the mouth.”

Texas Democrat Candidate Flips Out During Hearing, Winds Up Getting Arrested

Remember when politicians could disagree without acting like toddlers? Yeah, me neither. But what’s happening in our country right now makes even the worst political tantrums of the past look dignified. We’re watching the complete breakdown of basic civility. And I’m not talking about heated debates or passionate speeches. I’m talking about grown adults throwing the rules out the window whenever they don’t get their way.

Here’s what really gets me: These same people scream about “saving democracy” while they’re actively destroying it. They show up to official government meetings and act like it’s their personal stage. They demand to be heard but refuse to listen. And when someone finally says “enough is enough,” they play the victim card faster than you can say “double standard.”

At a Texas redistricting hearing Thursday night, Democratic congressional candidate Isaiah Martin gave us a perfect example of this madness. Martin, who’s running for Houston’s 18th Congressional District, didn’t just break the rules—he basically set them on fire. When his speaking time was up, he refused to stop talking. When officials asked him to yield, he got louder. And when security tried to remove him? Well, that’s when things got really crazy.

From ‘BizPac Review’:

A congressional candidate is the subject of a wild arrest video out of Texas, after being forcibly removed from a hearing.

Isaiah Martin’s attempt to filibuster the redistricting hearing ended in cuffs as he was dragged away from the microphone by a capitol security official…

“America will rise up against you!” he screamed.

This comes after President Donald Trump encouraged states to redistrict in a way that would add more Republicans to Congress, especially in red states that have received a large influx of voters moving away from blue states like New York and California.
