Canadian PM Mark Carney Is Accused of Plagiarizing His University of Oxford Doctorate Thesis – Liberal Party in Meltdown Ahead of Next Month’s Elections

As we’ve reported previously here in TGP, the new Liberal party leader and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has called for snap elections for April 28th, trying to fully capitalize on the Liberal’s latest surge in the polls after endless months badly trailing the Conservative opposition.

But as the campaign begins, a reputational bomb has gone off on banker Carney’s lap, as an investigation by the National Post identified at least 10 instances of apparent plagiarism in his 1995 Oxford University doctorate thesis.

Carney was found to use ‘full quotes, paraphrases, or slightly modified quotes from four previous works without proper acknowledgement or attribution’.

Liberals are in a meltdown, calling Geoffrey Sigalet – the scholar who examined the evidence – a ‘Conservative donor’, because he contributed $288 back in 2022.

The Telegraph reported:

“On Friday, the Canadian prime minister and former governor of the Bank of England was forced to deny allegations he copied 10 passages of text for his 1995 doctorate.

The allegations are a blow to his election campaign. He faces a knife-edge vote on April 28 after calling a snap election against the backdrop of an aggressive trade war with Donald Trump.”

Trump’s Rule by Fiat a Bipartisan Legacy

U.S. President Donald Trump’s latest defiance of the courts — this time refusing to follow an appellate judge’s order to halt migrant deportations — has triggered another round of liberal outrage. Critics are calling it an authoritarian move, a blatant assault on the rule of law, and a warning sign that American democracy is on its last legs.

But if this is the end of democracy, it’s been ending for a long time. And not just at Trump’s hands.

The central truth we keep missing — especially on the left — is that Trump is not an aberration. He’s a grotesque continuation. The playbook he uses was written by both parties over decades of eroding democratic norms, consolidating executive power, and circumventing meaningful checks on authority. Trump didn’t invent the impulse to rule by fiat; he just brings it out into the open.

If we want to stop the next Trump, or the next expansion of executive lawlessness, we can’t keep pretending he came out of nowhere.

Consider the legal justification Trump has floated for ignoring the courts: The United States is “at war.” Therefore, he claims, wartime powers apply — even domestically, even over immigration courts. To many, this sounds like a dystopian twist. But it’s eerily familiar. Because the same logic has been used, repeatedly, by both Republican and Democratic administrations since 9/11.

Congress Granted War Powers

After the attacks on the Twin Towers, Congress passed the Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF), which gave the executive branch sweeping powers to pursue terrorism around the world. That one document has served as the legal scaffolding for 20-plus years of undeclared wars and covert operations in Yemen, Somalia, Iraq, Syria, Pakistan and elsewhere.

No further congressional approval was needed. The public never had a say. The war powers clause of the Constitution became symbolic — if not obsolete.

Former President Barack Obama inherited that framework and expanded it. His administration developed the now-infamous drone kill list, justified targeted assassinations (including of U.S. citizens) and defended the government’s right to indefinitely detain terrorism suspects without trial.

Obama didn’t officially suspend habeas corpus, but in practice, he upheld a system that made the writ meaningless for hundreds of detainees held at Bagram and Guantánamo. The position of his Department of Justice was clear: The executive has the authority to detain and kill, beyond judicial oversight, because we are at war.

Digital Deception: How Social Media Helps Corrupt Politicians Stay in Power

In today’s world, social media is everywhere. It’s how we connect, share, and get our news. But what if I told you it’s also one of the most powerful tools corrupt politicians use to stay in power? That’s right. Behind the memes, the viral videos, and the endless streams of posts, there’s a darker game being played. It’s a game of misinformation, fake support, and online manipulation. And it’s working better than ever.

Let’s break it down. How do they do it? And why should you care?

The Misinformation Machine

Misinformation is the fuel that keeps the engine running. Politicians, especially those in power, know that controlling the narrative is everything. Social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram are perfect for spreading half-truths and outright lies. Why? Because these platforms are designed to keep you scrolling. They reward sensationalism, not accuracy.

Here’s how it works: A politician or their team plants a story. Maybe it’s about a rival. Maybe it’s about a policy that sounds great but is actually terrible. The story gets picked up by bots—fake accounts programmed to share content. These bots make the story look popular, so real people start sharing it too. Before you know it, the story is everywhere. And once it’s out there, it’s hard to stop.

The goal? To confuse you. To make you doubt what’s real and what’s not. And when you’re confused, you’re easier to control.

Astroturfing: Fake Grassroots Support

Ever heard of astroturfing? It’s when politicians create the illusion of widespread public support for something. They make it look like regular people are rallying behind an idea, when in reality, it’s all staged.

Here’s an example: Let’s say a politician wants to pass a law that benefits big corporations. They know regular people won’t like it. So, they hire a PR firm to create fake social media accounts. These accounts post messages like, “This law will create jobs!” or “This is good for the economy!” They might even organize fake protests or rallies, complete with paid actors holding signs.

The result? It looks like there’s a groundswell of support. News outlets pick up the story, and suddenly, the law seems popular. But it’s all a lie. And social media makes it easy to pull off.

Some House members have mental faculties so diminished they can no longer do their jobs — and others voting drunk, high: lawmakers

Up to a dozen members of Congress reportedly have mental faculties so diminished they can no longer do their jobs — with some even showing up drunk or stoned to cast votes.

“There’s no question that somewhere between six and a dozen of my colleagues are at a point where they’re … I think they don’t have the faculties to do their job,” Rep. Jim Himes (D-Conn) told Politico, which spoke to 25 members of the House and Senate who spilled the tea on their unnamed colleagues.

A Republican colleague concurred, with an important addendum.

“I have a difficult time sometimes telling between the deterioration of members and a handful who are just not very smart,” the unnamed lawmaker said.

After President Biden’s 2024 presidential campaign spectacular collapse due to his age-related cognitive issues, the issue of elected officials hanging on past their expiration date has come sharply into focus — with neither chamber of Congress being spared.

THIS IS YOUR GOVERNMENT: Capitol Hill Lawmakers Drop Disturbing Details Allegedly Revealing the Dire Health Issues and Behavior of Many of Their Colleagues

We all know how poorly members of Congress behave and represent the American people, but now lawmakers are dropping damning information allegedly revealing how dire the situation on Capitol Hill really is.

As TGP readers know, several members have shown multiple signs of cognitive decline, and there are two glaring examples that immediately come to mind. The first is late California Senator Dianne Feinstein.

Feinstein held onto office despite being so diminished mentally that she had no choice but to give up power of attorney to her daughter as the New York Post notes. Then, in December 2024, Texas GOP representative Kay Granger was found in a dementia care home last year after going missing from Congress for six months.

This is on top of the numerous falls we have seen from other elderly politicians like Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY).

Rep. Jim Himes (D-CT) told Politico that up to a dozen of his colleagues are in advanced stages of cognitive decline and have no clue what they are voting on.

“There’s no question that somewhere between six and a dozen of my colleagues are at a point where they’re… I think they don’t have the faculties to do their job,” he revealed.

A Republican lawmaker who withheld his name agreed with Himes that dementia on the Hill was a problem and added this:

“I have a difficult time sometimes telling between the deterioration of members and a handful who are just not very smart.”

Rep. Don Beyer (D-VA) dropped even more disturbing information to Politico: members of Congress are showing up drunk and high as they go to vote.

“I’ve seen one Republican who, unfortunately for you, has to go unnamed, show up drunk a number of times,” he said. “There were one or two Dems I thought might be high on something but not drunk.”

Himes added that most members were rarely sober when they cast late-night votes, though he had never witnessed anyone extremely drunk.

The Many Faces of Corruption: How Politicians Exploit the System

Corruption is like a hydra. Cut off one head, and two more grow in its place. It’s not just about shady backroom deals or envelopes stuffed with cash. Corruption wears many masks, and politicians have mastered the art of switching them on and off depending on who’s watching. Let’s break down the different ways those in power exploit the system—because understanding the game is the first step to beating it.

Bribery: The Classic Move

Bribery is the oldest trick in the book. It’s simple: money talks, and politicians listen. But it’s not always as obvious as a briefcase full of cash. Sometimes, it’s a “donation” to a campaign fund, a luxury vacation disguised as a “fact-finding mission,” or a lucrative job offer for a family member.

The problem with bribery is that it’s often hidden in plain sight. A corporation donates millions to a politician’s reelection campaign, and suddenly, laws favoring that corporation start popping up. Coincidence? Maybe. But when you see the same pattern over and over, it’s hard to believe it’s just luck.

Nepotism: Keeping It in the Family

Nepotism is the practice of favoring relatives or friends, especially by giving them jobs. It’s like a family business, except the business is running a country. Politicians often hand out high-paying, influential positions to their kids, spouses, or college buddies—regardless of whether they’re qualified.

This isn’t just about fairness. When unqualified people are put in positions of power, the whole system suffers. Policies get botched, resources are wasted, and public trust erodes. But for the politicians involved, it’s a win-win. They get to reward their inner circle while tightening their grip on power.

Embezzlement: Stealing from the People

Embezzlement is when someone in power steals money they’re supposed to be managing. Think of it as a politician dipping into the public treasury to fund their lavish lifestyle. It’s not just greedy—it’s betrayal.

This type of corruption is especially insidious because it often goes unnoticed for years. By the time anyone catches on, the money is long gone, and the politician has moved on to their next scheme. And even if they’re caught, the punishment is often a slap on the wrist. After all, who’s going to hold them accountable? The same system they’ve rigged in their favor?

Wolves, Hyenas and Legislators Run in Packs

At an early age, we taught our kids to learn from others and to think for themselves. I still remember telling one child, “Truth doesn’t fly in flocks. You need to seek and find it on your own. And never be afraid to test and re-examine what you believe is true. Belief has no value if you close your mind to the ideas and arguments of others. Living in truth involves not only faith, but also the courage to think for yourself.”

Unthinking animals either herd up for security, or run in packs to pull other creatures down. Politicians do both. In the worst example I have seen in 48 years in Montana, the cowardly pack mentality has been on full display in the sixty-nineth session of the Montana State Legislature.

Most of us are aware by now of the hostile takeover of the Montana State Senate by a coalition of every Democrat plus a wolf pack of liberal Republicans, who locked claws on vote after vote to deliver a functional majority for the Democratic Party. At one point, twenty separate pro-Democrat floor votes were recorded, all by 27-23 margins – an impressive show of Pack Power over their own Republican leadership. The nine GOP deserters are senators Vance, Gillespie, Kassmier, Lammers, Loge, McKamey, Tempel, Hunter and Ellsworth.

First, the Pack held the Senate hostage for many days, eventually forcing leadership to change its own rules so that liberal Republicans could be inserted onto key committees to shift committee control.

Then came the Jason Ellsworth affair. Sen. Ellsworth was caught arranging a sweetheart contract for a buddy of his by quietly diverting, at the last moment, over $170,000 from the unspent budget of the Judicial Reform Interim Committee, over the objections of its members. The project made no sense and would be performed from the friend’s home. When discovered, auditors were shocked, and the Senate Ethics Committee began an investigation, as was its constitutional duty. But the nine-member GOP wolf pack again locked arms with the Democrats and stopped the investigation in its tracks – thus assuring that the liberal Ellsworth would remain in the Senate for the entire session, doing the Democrats’ bidding.

Other reports of Ellsworth throwing his political weight around started coming out. Clearly, he should have resigned, but the “the Pack” continued to give him protective cover, and he remains there still – larger than life – seemingly incapable of shame or contrition.

Fire the Washington War Party

President Donald Trump gets a lot of things wrong. Chief among them is his crazy plan to ethnically cleanse two million Palestinians from the smoking ruins of Gaza.

But he also gets some very important things very right.

Trump managed to end the longest war in US history, Afghanistan, by cutting off the money that fueled this absurd conflict. Without Trump’s forceful intervention, this conflict could have dragged on for another decade and cost yet another $2 trillion. None of the generals or politicians involved had the guts or sense to end this pointless war.

Now, it appears that Trump may be doing it again in the other pointless war, Ukraine. The US has lavished at least $175 billion fueling the Ukraine War. Given that some of the US aid is hidden or obscured, the true figure may be over $200 billion – this by the US which is deep in hock with a monster debt of $36 trillion which it can’t pay back.

The fact is that CIA and State Department mounted a coup costing $5 billion (according to the senior State Department official, Victoria Nuland who organized it) that overthrew Ukraine’s pro-Moscow regime. It’s worth recalling that Ukraine was an integral party of Russia for hundreds of years – longer than Virginia has been part of the USA. Many Ukrainians want full independence from Moscow – others, particularly Russian-speakers, do not. The conflict in Ukraine is a civil war fueled by the western powers in an effort to fragment the Russian Federation and Balkanize its parts.

For Washington’s pro-war neoconservatives, further shattering the former Soviet Union is the ideal strategy. But the neocons and armchair amateurs who led the Biden administration were so blinded by their hatred of Russia and world power ambitions that they utterly failed to see how they were bringing Russia and the US to the edge of war. In fact, the US and some European allies were waging economic and military warfare against Russia that could have gone nuclear at any time.

Leftist Politician Meets Teen Migrant For Sex, Gets Robbed and Raped at Gunpoint

A Green Party leftist politician in Germany met up with a 17-year-old migrant for sex in Berlin but ended up being taken hostage, blackmailed, robbed and raped.

The unnamed 33-year-old senior government inspector (who the media is calling ‘Eva’) began speaking to 17-year-old Mehmet A. on a dating app geared towards casual sex hook-ups.

After the migrant filmed the sexual encounter and bragged about it to friends, Eva met up with him again in October last year for another sexual encounter.

However, their tryst was interrupted when a masked man appeared in the apartment and held a gun to her head.

Mehmet A. and the other man then held Eva hostage for 6 hours and threatened her with the publication of the sex video if she didn’t give them money.

When Mehmet A. left the apartment to withdraw money from Eva’s bank account, the other man allegedly raped her.

The next morning, Mehmet A. demanded Eva give him a 20,000 euro loan to prevent the leak of the videos.

“She plays along, but only pretends. She waits for him in a parking lot at Wedding S-Bahn station . When he arrives, he is arrested: she decided to confide in the police instead,” reports German newspaper BZ.

Mehmet A. claimed in court that the other man was “only supposed to look after her while I was away.”

Eva says she was shocked by the act of betrayal.

Mehmet A. and the other alleged accomplice face up to 10 years in youth prison on charges which include kidnapping for ransom and aggravated robbery.

HERE WE GO… Elon Musk Says DOGE to Investigate Federal Government Workers Who Have Managed to Accrue “Tens of Millions of Dollars in Net Worth”

Elon Musk and his adorable son, X, traveled to the White House on Tuesday to meet with President Trump in the Oval Office.

President Trump signed a new executive order mandating federal agencies work with DOGE.

Elon Musk said DOGE will begin investigating federal government workers who have managed to accrue tens of millions of dollars.

“We do find it sort of rather odd that there are quite a few people in the bureaucracy who who have essentially a salary of a few hundred thousand dollars, but somehow manage to accrue tens of millions of dollars in net worth while they are in that position,” Elon Musk said

“We’re just curious as to where it came from. Whether they have very good investing in which that case we should take their investment advice perhaps,” Musk said. “They seem to be mysteriously getting wealthy and we don’t know why – where did it come from? I think the reality is that they are getting wealthier at the taxpayer expense.”

Elon Musk continued, “There are massive amounts of blank checks that just go out…”
