Newsom Lashes Out, Dares Trump To Arrest Him

California Governor Gavin Newsom erupted into a lengthy tirade and dared President Donald Trump and White House border czar Tom Homan to arrest him after rioting escalated in Los Angeles for the third straight day.

As rioters pelted large rocks at police officers from an overpass, constructed makeshift barricades and burned vehicles, Newsom continued to blame President Trump for the unrest. The president announced on Saturday that he would be deputizing 2,000 California National Guard troops in order to quell the unrest following Newsom’s inaction, a move the governor has decided.

“Donald Trump has created the conditions you see on your TV tonight. He’s exacerbated the conditions. He’s, you know, lit the proverbial match. He’s putting fuel on this fire ever since he announced he was taking over the National Guard in an illegal act, in an amoral act, an unconstitutional act, and we’re going to test that theory with a lawsuit tomorrow,” the governor ranted.

Newsom then detailed his plans to sue the Trump Administration over the deputization of the National Guard tomorrow morning. “Well, under his executive order, and specifically notes and under what the DoD did is they had to coordinate with the governor of the state. They never coordinated with the governor of the state,” he said.

The governor then addressed White House border czar Tom Homan who, along with President Trump, stated that any state or local officials who attempt to impede federal immigration operations will face legal consequences.

“The fear, the horror, the hell is this guy? Come after me, arrest me, let’s just get it over with, tough guy. You know, I don’t give a damn,” Newsom continued to rant. “But I care about my community, I care about this community. The hell are they doing? These guys need to grow up, they need to stop.”

Trump Federalizes California National Guard as Violent Leftist Mobs Lay Siege to ICE Agents — Bypassing Democrat Governor

After weeks of escalating leftist violence against federal immigration agents that culminated in over 1,000 rioters laying siege to federal buildings and assaulting ICE officers, President Trump took the extraordinary step of federalizing 2,000 California National Guard troops, marking the first time since 1965 that a president has activated a state’s National Guard without the governor’s consent.

Using rarely invoked federal powers under 10 U.S.C. 12406, Trump bypassed the authority of California’s Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom after violent mobs launched coordinated attacks on ICE agents and laid siege to federal buildings across the state.

The president’s directive cites a specific provision within Title 10 of the U.S. Code that allows federal deployment of National Guard forces when “there is a rebellion or danger of a rebellion against the authority of the Government of the United States.”

Trump’s order states that “to the extent that protests or acts of violence directly inhibit the execution of the laws, they constitute a form of rebellion against the authority of the Government of the United States.”

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced that the Pentagon was “mobilizing the National Guard IMMEDIATELY” and revealed that active-duty Marines at Camp Pendleton, about 100 miles south of Los Angeles, were “on high alert” and could also be mobilized.

Trump’s directive specifically authorized Hegseth to “employ any other members of the regular Armed Forces as necessary to augment and support the protection of Federal functions and property,” indicating the administration is prepared to use whatever force necessary to restore federal authority.

The violent confrontations have spread beyond Los Angeles, with Minneapolis seeing protesters throw traffic cones and trash cans at federal law enforcement vehicles during an ICE operation at Las Cuatro Milpas restaurant.

The area, which was previously the site of violent riots following George Floyd’s death of a fentanyl overdose, again became a flashpoint as demonstrators physically obstructed federal vehicles and shouted at officers to “go home” and “quit their jobs.”

Minneapolis City Council Member Jason Chavez joined the violent protesters, declaring the federal operation “completely wrong” and criticizing local police for assisting ICE agents in their lawful duties.

Gavin Newsom Threatens to Block California Tax Payments to Federal Government

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) threatened Friday that his state would stop tax payments to the federal government, after news reports suggested President Donald Trump was thinking of cutting funds to the state.

As Breitbart News noted earlier in the day, reports emerged suggesting that the Trump White House was considering cutting federal funding to California due to its challenges to, and defiance of, federal policy.

President Donald Trump is reportedly considering ways to pull more federal funding from the State of California, as Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) continues to defy White House policies, despite needing money.

California is suffering a large budget deficit for the second year in a row, with the state’s Medicaid program borrowing money to stay afloat. Newsom has also asked the federal government for $40 billion in fire relief.

But Newsom is also enthusiastically suing the Trump administration over many of its policies, often seeking the kinds of nationwide injunctions that would stop those policies everywhere, not just in California.

Trump had already threatened California’s federal sports funding after the state defied a federal transgender policy that bars biological males from competing in girls’ sports. And this week, the U.S. Department of Transportation suggested the administration could claw back billions of dollars in federal spending wasted on the state’s troubled high-speed rail project.

But Democrats have argued that California should be allowed to oppose federal policies while benefiting from federal spending, especially given the state’s large contributions to federal revenues. And they have pushed back against the idea of conditioning fire aid on policy changes.

It is not clear what constitutional authority Newsom has to withhold federal taxes on behalf of individuals, businesses, and other entities within the state. Trump’s authority to withhold funding is far clearer.

‘It’s Disgusting’: Voters Are Furious With Gavin Newsom For Pulling Rug From Under Passed Ballot Measure

Democrat California Gov. Gavin Newsom elected not to dedicate funds in his proposed budget to enforce a widely-popular ballot proposal that passed in November, prompting small business owners and lawmakers to tell the Daily Caller News Foundation that they aren’t pleased that the governor appears to be ignoring the will of the voters.

In November 2024, 68.4% of California voters approved Prop 36, aimed at cracking down on retail theft and drug use and subsequently reversing Proposition 47, which reduced criminal punishments such as shoplifting and grand theft. But when Newsom released his revised $322 billion budget in May, small business owners and lawmakers criticized him for leaving out funding and ignoring the measure’s broad support.

Speaking to the DCNF ahead of the November 2024 vote, Fraser Ross, owner of a small business with multiple locations across Los Angeles County, said theft in the city had been rampant. He described how businesses were “taking a loss” because Prop 47 downgraded drug possession penalties and reclassified thefts under $950 from felonies to misdemeanors.

The small business owner ripped into Newsom when asked by the DCNF about the governor’s decision to exclude funding for the measure in his May budget revision. “He’s just a puppet and he has no care for California,” Ross told the DCNF.  “He likes to emphasize we’re now the fourth biggest economy in the world, wherever these statistics came from. But Newsom does not care about business in California.”

Federal Judge Completely Dismisses Governor Newsom’s Lawsuit Over President Trump’s Tariffs

A federal judge completely dismissed California Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom’s lawsuit over President Trump’s tariffs.

US District Judge for the Northern District of California, Jacqueline Scott Corley, a Biden appointee, dismissed the case citing a jurisdiction issue.

Rather than punting the case to the US Court of International Trade like another federal judge did last week, Judge Corley completely dismissed the case and allowed California to file an appeal.

California’s far-left Attorney General Rob Bonta has already filed an appeal to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Politico reported:

A U.S. District Court judge on Monday dismissed California officials’ lawsuit over President Donald Trump’s tariffs, concluding the case belongs in an out-of-state court that specializes in trade disputes.

The ruling — separate from a pair of high-profile rulings in other courts last week — partially sides with the Trump administration, which argued the case belongs in the New York-based U.S. Court of International Trade rather than the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, where Gov. Gavin Newsom and state Attorney General Rob Bonta earlier filed their case.

But Judge Jacqueline Scott Corley dismissed the case outright rather than immediately transfer it to the trade court, as Trump’s attorneys had requested. By doing so, she granted the state’s request to leave a path open for California to appeal the ruling to the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, a famously liberal-leaning bench.

A court battle over President Trump’s tariffs is playing out in a district court, a federal appeals court and the Court of International Trade.

President Trump Blasts Gavin Newsom, Says “Large Scale Fines” Incoming After Biological Male Steals California Girls’ Track and Field Finals

President Trump put California Governor Gavin “Newscum” on notice that he is imposing fines on the state of California in response to a male high school student winning two state titles in female track and field competitions.  

President Trump signed a landmark executive order in February to ensure that biological men could not compete in women’s sports. But California and other blue states have decided to defy Trump’s order and continue to allow men to compete against women.

“As Governor Gavin Newscum fully understands, large scale fines will be imposed!!!” the President said on Truth Social shortly after midnight on Tuesday.

This follows a warning from the President last week that the state is breaking the law and that “large scale Federal Funding will be held back, maybe permanently, if the Executive Order on this subject matter is not adhered to.”

“This is a totally ridiculous situation!!!” he added, noting that Governor Newsom has admitted that it’s unfair to allow boys in girls’ sports but allowed it to happen anyway.

It’s a perfect snapshot of the political dysfunction rotting this country from the inside out, especially in California. Remember the infamous California bullet train debacle? The one that was supposed to be a marvel of American infrastructure but turned into a flaming dung heap of taxpayer waste?

Gavin Newsom Supports Medicaid Changes — Why Don’t Republicans?

To cut federal spending, Republicans should join Newsom in reforming Medicaid.

It says something about congressional Republicans’ unwillingness to reduce Medicaid spending when many of them stand well to the left of Gavin Newsom — I repeat, Gavin Newsom — on the subject. The California governor, a Democrat, recently put forward proposals that would reduce program spending and enrollment.

Newsom won’t win awards for courage when it comes to reforming Medicaid; an ongoing budget crisis, as opposed to policy principle, prompted his volte-face. But the problems in California speak to the larger dynamic Washington will face if it doesn’t get serious about curbing Medicaid’s problems.

Restrictions on Undocumented Immigrants’ Coverage

In his revised budget, Newsom proposed freezing enrollment for undocumented immigrants. Children would be permitted to join the state’s Medicaid program, but no more adults could enroll. Those adults who remain enrolled would face a $100 monthly premium, beginning in 2027.

The Medicaid expansion to those in the country illegally has remained a source of controversy. For starters, that program came in billions of dollars over budget earlier this spring, forcing Newsom’s office to seek emergency bailouts for the Medicaid program. That bailout came after Newsom used a legally questionable accounting scam to have Washington help fund this program — even though federal tax dollars generally do not cover Medicaid coverage for the undocumented. The reconciliation bill before Congress would prevent future use of this accounting loophole by states, saving an estimated $34.6 billion over ten years.

Given that Newsom helped expand California’s Medicaid coverage to the undocumented to begin with, let’s not kid ourselves that he acted out of deep-seated principle in proposing an enrollment freeze and premium charges. Instead, his state faces yet another cash crunch, and the governor was forced to react. Which could well describe what will happen in Washington once foreign governments get tired of financing our ever-increasing debt.

Gavin Newsom Scales Back Plan to Provide Illegal Aliens With Free Healthcare as California’s Financial Crisis Deepens

California Governor Gavin Newsom is scaling back his ludicrous pledge to offer free healthcare to all illegal aliens in the state.

His 2025–26 budget proposal, released Wednesday, includes a freeze on new Medi-Cal enrollments for adults without legal immigration status and imposes a $100 monthly premium for those already enrolled.

The freeze would begin in 2026, affecting new applicants over the age of 19.

According to Newsom’s office, the change will not impact those currently enrolled or those receiving limited emergency or maternity coverage.

The new premium would apply starting in 2027 to all adults with what the administration calls “unsatisfactory immigration status,” a term that includes both illegal aliens and certain legal residents ineligible for federal Medicaid.

Newsom’s office says the revised policy is necessary due to a $16 billion shortfall in state revenue, driven in part by ballooning Medi-Cal costs linked to his earlier expansions.

Rather than his own failings and the mismanagement of Democratic authorities, Newsom cited Trump’s decision to impose tariffs as justification for the shortfall.

“California is under assault,” Newsom said. “The United States of America, in many respects, is under assault because we have a president that’s been reckless in terms of assaulting growth engines.”

However, Newsom insisted that he was not cancelling the program altogether.

California Gov. Newsom calls on cities to ban homeless encampments on public property

California Gov. Gavin Newsom on Monday pushed cities to ban homeless encampments or sleeping rough on the streets — and is using state funds to force the issue.

Escalating his push to eradicate scores of encampments across the Golden State, the Democrat called on cities and towns to effectively prohibit tents from being erected on sidewalks, parks, bike paths and other public properties.

People will also be prohibited from sleeping on the streets with a sleeping bag, blankets or any other materials for more than three days in a row, according to the state-issued guidance.

“There’s nothing compassionate about letting people die on the streets. Local leaders asked for resources — we delivered the largest state investment in history. They asked for legal clarity — the courts delivered,” Newsom said in a statement.

“Now, we’re giving them a model they can put to work immediately, with urgency and with humanity, to resolve encampments and connect people to shelter, housing, and care. The time for inaction is over. There are no more excuses.”
