Secret Service Director: We Didn’t Put Snipers On The Roof Because It Was Kind Of Sloped

The Secret Service director said the security agency did not station snipers on top of the Pennsylvania roof from which a gunman shot former President Donald Trump last weekend because it was “sloped.”

Kimberly Cheatle, the Secret Service chief refusing calls to step down after Trump was shot in the head, told ABC News that federal officials opted to forgo snipers on the rooftop that was identified as a security threat days before the event.

“That building in particular has a sloped roof at its highest point. And so, you know, there’s a safety factor that would be considered there that we wouldn’t want to put somebody up on a sloped roof,” she said. “And so, you know, the decision was made to secure the building, from inside.”

Three counter-snipers were positioned in the building underneath the roof from which Saturday’s gunman fired multiple shots killing one rallygoer and injuring three others, including Trump. The event’s security “command center” was even notified of the shooter moments before the would-be assassin began firing into the crowd.

“The shooter was actually identified as a potential person of suspicion,” Cheatle told ABC. “Unfortunately, with the rapid succession of how things unfolded, by the time that individual was eventually located, they were on the rooftop and were able to fire off at the former president.”

Cheatle told the network, “The buck stops with me,” but she continued to resist calls to resign her post as head of the federal security agency.

Republican Colorado Congresswoman Lauren Boebert introduced legislation Monday to strip the Secret Service director of her salary and expense reimbursements after last weekend’s failed assassination attempt of the GOP presidential nominee.

Snipers Were INSIDE Building Used By Trump Failed Assassin; Reported Him Using Range Finder, Took Pictures, And Command Did Nothing

Three Beaver County police snipers were reportedly stationed inside the building used by the shooter in Saturday’s assassination attempt on Donald Trump, a local law enforcement officer with ‘direct knowledge’ of the incident tells CBS News‘ Anna Schecter, and as first reported by the Beaver Countian.

It gets worse

A sniper, stationed on the second floor providing overwatch, saw the shooter, Thomas Matthew Crooks, outside the building and looking up at the roof. He then walked away, returned, whipped out his phone, when one of the snipers took the first of two pictures of him.

Crooks then took out a rangefinder – at which point the sniper radioed to a command post. Crooks then disappeared again and came back a third time with a backpack. The snipers called in once again with information that he had a backpack and that he (Crooks) was walking toward the back of the building.

By the time other officers came for backup, he had climbed on top of the building and was positioned above and behind the snipers inside the building, the officer said.

Two other officers who heard the sniper’s call tried to get onto the roof. State police started rushing to the scene, but by that time, a Secret Service sniper had already killed Crooks, the officer said. –CBS News

So – law enforcement had eyes-on the shooter the entire time, took pictures of him, notified their command post – and nothing was done until Crooks shot Trump, at which point Secret Service snipers returned fire and killed him.

‘Disgusting’: ABC Anchor’s Blames Candidate’s ‘Violent Rhetoric’ for Near-Assassination of Trump

Trump narrowly escaped an assassination attempt on Saturday afternoon.

The incident, which saw a bullet miss Trump by mere inches, has sparked intense debate and controversy, particularly following comments made by ABC News veteran anchor George Stephanopoulos on Sunday’s episode of “This Week.”

Stephanopoulos, discussing the political climate with chief global affairs anchor Martha Raddatz, made the controversial claim that Trump himself had contributed to the “violent rhetoric” that led to the assassination attempt.

This statement, coming less than 24 hours after the near-fatal incident, has ignited a firestorm of criticism from viewers and political commentators alike.

The discussion began with Raddatz addressing claims suggesting President Joe Biden’s involvement in the attack.

IS FBI ALREADY STONEWALLING ON THE INVESTIGATION INTO THE ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT?

According to President Biden the FBI has been leading the investigation into the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on Saturday. While law enforcement has identified the shooter as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, several key questions remain unanswered regarding the FBI’s response to the crime scene.

The lack of transparency during prior FBI investigations has raised concerns among the public and media about the FBI’s ability to this time conduct a thorough and responsible investigation, especially in light the “lawfare” that has been used against the former President. The shooting is being treated as an “attempted assassination” and act of domestic terrorism and the Director of the Secret Service, Kimberly Cheatle, is scheduled to testify before a House Oversight Committee on July 22nd. The purpose of the hearing is to provide insight into how the twenty-year old was able to commit the assassination attempt, resulting in the former President being wounded, a fellow American dead and two others seriously injured.

This attack was deadly serious, and the information needed to satisfy the American public that this attack was, in fact, a random lone gunman, must be convincing. Afterall, there already are numerous videos on social media that show the public alerting law enforcement of the assassin’s position on the roof of the building prior to any shooting. These videos also show snipers zeroed in on the assassin long before the shooting occurred, yet the snipers waited…hesitated until the assassin’s shots were fired. Why? This is just one question in a long list that needs to be answered.

The public will also want to know exactly how the FBI conducted the identification of the assassin.   According to news reports, the FBI identified Crooks through a face recognition process, however, no details have been provided as to how that process works, how the match was made and what database was utilized?  Early reports indicated a DNA identification process was utilized, but the exact details of this process have not been disclosed. It is unclear whether the DNA was matched from existing records or if it was obtained from evidence found at the scene. Given the fact that law enforcement announced that Crooks had no criminal record, it is curious what database was used to make an identification. The FBI has not provided information on how they linked the DNA to Crooks, which already has raised questions about the thoroughness of its investigation.

Furthermore, the disposition of the assassin’s body is critical for chain of custody purposes.  There are no reports as to the disposition of the assassin’s body – who has custody and where was it taken for further examination?  It seems odd that in all of the footage of the shooting incident and aftermath, that there are no photos of ambulances or FBI agents on the scene. Were photographers at the scene disinterested in the aftermath of the shooting, which surely would have required medical assistance?

‘Blindsided’ Jack Black addresses Tenacious D bandmate’s ‘shameful’ comment about Trump assassination attempt

Tenacious D’s Kyle Gass put himself in the proverbial line of fire for making a joke about the assassination attempt of Donald Trump.

The rock duo, comprised of Gass, 64, and Jack Black, 54, was performing at the ICC Sydney Theatre in Australia on Sunday, the day after Trump, 78, was shot in the ear at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Black brought out a birthday cake for Gass, who turned 64 that day, and asked him to “make a wish,” as seen in fan footage.

“Don’t miss Trump next time,” Gass responded.

The audience laughed at Gass’ remark.

However, the comment wasn’t received as well online. Fans took to X (formerly Twitter) to slam Gass and defend the former president.

“Extremely poor taste,” one person tweeted.

Failed Trump Assassin Purchased Ladder and 50 Rounds of Ammo on the Morning of the Rally, According to New Report

Failed Trump assassin Thomas Matthew Crooks appears to have purchased the ladder he used to scale the building and 50 rounds of ammunition on the morning of the Butler, Pennsylvania, rally.

According to a report from CNN citing law enforcement officials, Crooks bought the ladder from Home Depot on the day he tried to assassinate Trump from the roof of a nearby building.

If this report is accurate and to be believed, Crooks may have made it past law enforcement and the Secret Service carrying a very tall ladder and used it to climb the building unnoticed.

CNN reports:

On Friday, he went to a shooting range where he was a member, and practiced firing, a law enforcement official told CNN. The next morning, Crooks went to a Home Depot, where he bought a five-foot ladder, and a gun store, where he purchased 50 rounds of ammunition, the official said.

Then, Crooks drove his Hyundai Sonata about an hour north, joining thousands of people from around the region who flocked to Trump’s rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. He parked the car outside the rally, with an improvised explosive device hidden in the trunk that was wired to a transmitter he carried, the official said. Then, investigators believe, he used his newly-bought ladder to scale a nearby building, and opened fire on the former president.

The report noted, “It’s not clear whether Crooks used the ammunition or the ladder that he bought on Saturday during his attack later that day.” However, a ladder was prominently propped up against the building where Crooks would shoot from.

Crooks also had a detonator on his person and explosives attached to a receiver in his vehicle’s trunk.

Oddly, the report says that no motives have been found for the shooting and that his online history does not reveal a “political or ideological impetus for the shooting.” His activities online suggest an interest in coding and gaming.

“I’ve Heard From Him” – Biden When Asked If It’s Acceptable That He Hasn’t Heard From the Secret Service Director Since Trump Assassination Attempt – The SS Director is a WOMAN!

Joe Biden sat down for an interview with NBC’s Lester Holt to discuss the assassination attempt against President Trump.

A bullet grazed President Trump’s ear on Saturday during his Pennsylvania rally.

In an appalling breach of security, a gunman was able to climb on top of a roof next to Trump’s Butler, Pennsylvania rally and put Trump in his scope.

President Trump raised his fist and shouted, “Fight! Fight! Fight!” after a bullet grazed his ear.

Lester Holt asked Biden if it is acceptable that he has not heard from his DEI Secret Service Director.

“Is it acceptable that you have still not heard, at least publicly, from the Secret Service Director?” Lester Holt asked Biden.

“Oh, I’ve heard from him,” Biden said.

The Secret Service Director, Kimberly Cheatle, is a WOMAN!

Lester Holt swooped in to save Joe Biden: “Have you heard from her publicly?”

Biden looked spooked as he realized the Secret Service Director is not a “he.”

He quickly thought of a lie.

“Publicly I’ve sat down in the Situation Room downstairs – the Secret Service, the FBI, National Security agencies – Homeland Security – all the major elements,” Biden said.

7 Things We Know About The Man That Shot Trump

I am still in shock.  When I first learned that Donald Trump had been shot, I literally had difficulty processing the information.  I watched footage of the shooting over and over, and honestly I am still trying to put the pieces together.  The Secret Service is supposed to be far better at protecting our leaders than this.

If Trump had not shifted his head at the last moment, he would have almost certainly been killed.  Sadly, firefighter Corey Comperatore was not so fortunate.  He was killed by one of the bullets that the shooter fired.  Trump was hit in the ear, but we are being told that he is doing just fine.  But how long will it be before someone else tries again?

What we just witnessed is truly, truly horrible.  No matter how you plan to vote, we should all be united in denouncing political violence.

For years, many of our political leaders and many in the mainstream media have been using extremely inflammatory language to denounce Donald Trump, and this has caused emotions to run extremely high.

It was only a matter of time before all of that inflammatory language inspired someone to commit an act of great violence.

The following are 8 things that we know about the man that shot Trump…

A Failure of Secret Service Security So Astounding the Conspiracy Theories Write Themselves

As everyone knows, Donald J. Trump, the 45th President of the United States and the presumptive nominee of the Republican Party for the 2024 Presidential election, was nearly assassinated yesterday at a campaign rally near Butler, Pennsylvania. Many people – including many of my readers – have predicted that something like this would happen for a very long time.

A 20-year-old sniper named Thomas Matthew Crooks fired as many as eight shots in Trump’s direction, nine minutes after he began speaking. Crooks was perched on the roof of a building just north of Trump’s podium, and he succeeded only in wounding the former President in his right ear; two other spectators were critically injured and another was killed. The Secret Service Counter Assault Team brought the attack to an end with a fatal shot to Crooks’s head (here is a graphic image of the aftermath). Trump, meanwhile, ducked to the ground while agents shielded him with their bodies. Half a minute later he stood up, demanded that his protectors allow him to get his shoes, and raised a defiant fist to the audience, shouting “Fight, fight, fight”.

Almost anything I say about these events will be superseded by media reporting within hours, so I’ll limit myself to three points:

1) The failed assassination represents a security failure by United States Secret Service that is so astounding, it will rightly inspire conspiracy theories for years to come. Kevin Rojek, who heads the Pittsburg field office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, acknowledged that it was “surprising” that Crooks was able to take so many shots unchallenged. And I can think of no reason why Trump’s detail should’ve drawn their security perimeter to exclude a prominent, elevated firing position a mere 130 metres away from Trump’s podium. Finally, there is the fact that Crooks and his rifle were visible to spectators for minutes before he opened fire; multiple rally attendees tried to alert police, fruitlessly. There is even a screen grab of drone footage circulating on social media, showing Crooks climbing onto the building.
