North Carolina Democrat Governor Josh Stein Signs ‘Iryna’s Law’ Preventing Cashless Bail

Saying he had reservations about some aspects of the new legislation, North Carolina Gov. Josh Stein, a Democrat, on Friday signed “Iryna’s Law,” a bill that prohibits cashless bail for some violent crimes and most repeat offenders.

The bill comes on the heels of the unprovoked stabbing death of a 23-year-old Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska in August on a Charlotte light-rail train by a repeat offender — the assault sparking national outrage after surveillance video of the incident went viral.

Authorities have charged Decarlos Dejuan Brown Jr., with first degree murder. He’d been arrested more than a dozen times and served five years in prison before the fatal train stabbing.

It also follows public pressure also generated by President Donald Trump who highlighted the case in an Oval Office address on crime and lenient bail policies in American cities.

In a three-and-a-half minute video statement, Stein said he doesn’t like every part of the bill that was passed by the Republican-controlled state legislature.

But the governor said he signed it because it “alerts the judiciary to take a special look at people who may pose unusual risks of violence before determining their bail. That’s a good thing.”

Seattle mayor rejects locking up repeat criminals during tense debate: ‘Maybe they’re hungry’

Seattle Democratic Mayor Bruce Harrell said during a mayoral debate Thursday night he has “no desire” to put repeat criminal defenders in jail, and he doesn’t know how to answer the question on whether the city is “too lax” on repeat offenders.

So, let me make something very clear. I was the one that sponsored the ‘Ban the Box’ legislation when everyone opposed it because the criminal system has had a disparate impact on Black and Brown communities, let me lead with that,” Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell said in a mayoral debate Thursday night when asked a follow-up question about repeat offenders in the city.

Harrell’s “Ban the Box” proposal in 2013 prevented employers from asking about an applicant’s criminal history on applications up front.

Harrell then said, “When this person is committing six or seven crimes, I don’t know his or her story. Maybe they were abused as a child. Maybe they’re hungry. But my remedy is to find their life story to see how we can help. First, I have no desire to put them in jail, but I need to protect you, and that’s the calibration that we have.

Democrats Are Playing Chicken With Americans’ Livelihood Because Illegal Aliens Dominate Their Policy Priorities

As the federal government shutdown stretches into its fourth day, the impasse between Republicans and Democrats shows no immediate signs of breaking. With funding lapsed since October 1, non-essential services hang in the balance, and political finger-pointing intensifies. Democrats have been receiving an unprecedented volume of blame for the “Schumer Shutdown” as some in legacy media have uncharacteristically reported some of the truth.

Richard Stern, director of the Grover M. Hermann Center for the Federal Budget at the Heritage Foundation, points to two specific pay dates that could shift the dynamics: October 10 for essential federal workers and October 15 for military personnel.

Stern explains that these deadlines carry real weight because “at the end of the day, I think they’re going to get the blame that I think they deserve,” referring to Democrats who rejected a Republican-backed temporary funding bill.

This bill aimed to keep government operations running for seven weeks while negotiations continued, but Democrats held firm on demands to extend Affordable Care Act subsidies to illegal aliens. Elaborating on this standoff, Stern describes the Democratic approach as one where they “stomp [their] feet and make a dramatic situation out of it.”

Such tactics, he argues, prioritize controversial spending items like foreign aid for transgender surgeries and abortions, increased funding for NPR and PBS, and a massive $1.5 trillion welfare program extension that would strip away anti-fraud measures and broaden eligibility to legal aliens. This perspective aligns with broader Republican criticisms that Democrats are leveraging the shutdown to push unrelated policy goals, as echoed in statements from the White House, which has launched a “shutdown clock” to track the disruption and attribute it to Democratic intransigence.

One Democratic voice capturing this resolve comes from Rep. Shri Thanedar, D-Mich., who declared, “We got to make sure Americans have the healthcare that they need, and if that means we’ve got to shut the government down, so be it.”

Dem Nominee For Virginia AG ‘Deeply, Deeply Sorry’ For Fantasizing About Killing Republican Lawmaker, Urinating on His Grave

The Democratic Party’s nominee for Virginia attorney general, Jay Jones, has said he is “deeply, deeply sorry” for fantasizing about killing a Republican lawmaker.

Jones was asked about his disgusting comments in an interview with ABC 8News reporter Tyler Englander.

“A lot of politics is about trust,” Englander said. “I can think of nothing more horrific than a mother having to hold her dying child. How can Virginians trust a man who said something so horrific, so callously?”

“Well again, I am so deeply, deeply, sorry, for what I said, and I wish that it hadn’t happened and I would take it back if I could,” Jones answered.

The story was first broken by National Review, who published early-morning texts from August 2022 showing Jay Jones in which he imagined shooting his political opponents.

The messages were prompted by bipartisan tributes to the late centrist legislator Joe Johnson Jr., which had been shared in statehouse group chats.

Jones, who had recently left the state House, sent his responses to Republican Delegate Carrie Coyner.

He slammed Johnson as too “moderate” and mocked the “glowing” eulogies in his honor, particularly one made by Republican House Speaker Todd Gilbert.

“If those guys die before me, I will go to their funerals to piss on their graves,” adding that he would “send them out awash in something.”

He then said, hypothetically, he would kill then-Speaker Todd Gilbert instead of murderers like Adolf Hitler and Pol Pot — a comment that led Coyner to beg him to stop.

Watch Senator John Kennedy List the Crazy Things AOC and Other Leftist Dems Are Demanding Over Shutdown

Throughout the government shutdown fight, the issue everyone has been talking about is funding for healthcare for illegal aliens, but there are other things that are holding up the process.

Republican Senator John Kennedy of Louisiana recently listed a bunch of items that AOC and other far left Democrats are pushing for and they’re all completely crazy.

Somehow, the media has completely missed all of this.

The Tampa Free Press reported:

Louisiana Sen. Kennedy Shreds Dems’ Shutdown Demands: ‘Cooking And Dance Workshops’ In Haiti

The federal government shutdown has taken a dramatic turn, with Louisiana Republican Sen. John Kennedy seizing the Senate floor Friday to lay bare a list of what he calls “wasteful” and “ridiculous” foreign aid projects he claims Democrats are demanding be reinstated before they agree to reopen the government.

Kennedy accused Senate Democrats of holding the country “hostage” after they blocked a bipartisan stopgap funding bill, prolonging the shutdown into next week.

He argued that the provisions, which Republicans had previously stripped from the budget, are now being weaponized by the party’s left flank to keep the government closed.

“We just eliminated money for all forms of media in the Affordable Care Act. Now those are the demands. I’ll mention one more. Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez got very, very upset, as did the socialist wing of the party, when the president sent over what’s called a rescission package. Basically, President Trump just said we want you to take some stuff out of the budget that we think is wasteful, and we did,” Kennedy said. “And that upset the congresswoman. She’s entitled to be upset if she wants to, but that really upset the socialist wing of the party. And so we took out, and here’s what they want us to put back in.”

These are the items that Kennedy lists specifically:

– $3.6 million for cooking and dance workshops for male prostitutes in Haiti.
– Over $4.2 million for LGBTQ projects in the Western Balkans and Uganda.
– $6 million to subsidize Palestinian media outlets.
– $3 million for circumcision and vasectomies in Zambia.
– More than $833,000 for transgender people in Nepal.
– $500,000 to purchase electric buses in Rwanda.
– $300,000 to sponsor a pride parade in Lesotho.

Zohran Mamdani plans to phase out Gifted and Talented program in NYC elementary schools

Mayoral front-runner Zohran Mamdani wants to phase out New York City’s Gifted and Talented program — the democratic socialist’s latest move to revert to ex-Mayor Bill de Blasio’s era.

Mamdani, the Democratic nominee for mayor, said Thursday he would eliminate the accelerated learning program at the kindergarten level, something that’s likely to anger parents, who have been passionately divided on the issue.

The gifted classes would remain active through the school year, but would no longer be available next fall, he said.

Critics have attacked the coveted learning model as racist due to the higher number of white and Asian students that gain entry through the exam.

But backers argue getting rid of the classes would eliminate opportunities for thousands of bright students from low-and-middle income families.

Mamdani’s proposal would be the first step in undoing the program across all elementary schools — a controversial change inside the Department of Education made by de Blasio on his way out the door in 2021, and reverted by Mayor Eric Adams when he took office.

House Democrat Snagged a Bunch of Oracle Stock Just Before TikTok Deal Was Announced

President Donald Trump last week signed an executive order affirming technology giant Oracle would play a leading — and potentially lucrative — role in TikTok’s pending U.S. spinoff from Chinese company ByteDance.

Just days before that, a Democratic congressman from Louisiana was busy buying up shares of Oracle, according to a congressional financial disclosure reviewed by NOTUS.

Rep. Cleo Fields purchased between $80,000 and $200,000 worth of Oracle shares across three different trades — on Sept. 17, 18 and 23, the disclosure document indicates. (Lawmakers are only required to disclose the values of stock trades in broad ranges.) News of Oracle’s participation in the TikTok deal first broke on Sept. 22.

Fields is a member of the House Committee on Financial Services Subcommittee on Capital Markets, which has jurisdiction over laws and government programs affecting financial markets and the securities industry. He also serves on the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations.

The Stop Trading on Congressional Knowledge Act, or STOCK Act, prohibits members of Congress from using nonpublic information to inform personal financial decisions.

It is unclear what Fields knew about Oracle’s participation in the TikTok deal — if he knew anything — or whether Fields initiated the Oracle stock purchases himself or had a financial adviser make the purchases on his behalf.

Fields’ congressional office acknowledged NOTUS’ requests for comment but did not otherwise respond.

In July, after Fields went on a June stock-purchasing spree worth between $3.56 million and $11.07 million, Fields’ office told OpenSecrets that the congressman “has complied with all rules outlined by the House of Representatives.” Fields represents a congressional district that stretches from Shreveport to Baton Rouge.

Virginia Democrat AG Candidate Mused About Shooting Former GOP Politician

Virginia Democrat attorney general candidate Jay Jones reportedly entertained thoughts over text message, about shooting a former Republican Virginia House Speaker in 2022.

Text messages the National Review obtained showed that Jones reportedly sent messages to Virginia House Delegate Carrie Coyner (R) on August 8, 2022 complaining about how his colleagues were “eulogizing” a former Democrat member of the Virginia House of Delegates, who had died.

In the text messages, Jones reportedly “shared” his thoughts with Coyner, and went on to admit that his message had been for another person. In the messages, Jones went on to complain about his Republican colleagues and entertained thoughts of shooting former Virginia Speaker of the House of Delegates Todd Gilbert:

Jones, who at the time had recently resigned from the state house after a brief stint representing Norfolk, had strong feelings about how the political class was eulogizing recently deceased former state legislator Joe Johnson Jr., a moderate Democrat with a long tenure in Virginia politics. Republican legislators like House Speaker Todd Gilbert had begun making public statements honoring Johnson’s memory and political legacy, and some of those statements were making the rounds in state legislative group chats.

Around 8 a.m., Jones shared those feelings with his former state legislative colleague, Republican House Delegate Carrie Coyner. In a series of text messages obtained by National Review, Jones derided Johnson’s political centrism and scoffed at the “glowing” tributes that were being made in his honor by Republicans in the wake of his death.

“Damn that was for mark,” he wrote to Coyner, suggesting he’d meant to send the texts to someone else. And yet that realization didn’t stop Jones from joking about what “that POS” Gilbert “would say about me if I died.”

Jones reportedly went on to ponder about, if his Republican colleagues died before him, would he “go to their funerals to piss on their graves,” according to the outlet.

Jones also reportedly pondered about how, if he were faced with a “hypothetical situation in which he had only two bullets and was faced with the choice of murdering” either Gilbert or “two dictators,” he would pick Gilbert to shoot.

According to the text messages obtained by the outlet, Coyner asked Jones to “stop” and expressed that it bothered her when he talked “about hurting people or wishing death on them.”

White House Releases New Memo Exposing Democrats’ Demand for Nearly $200 BILLION in Taxpayer-Funded Healthcare for Illegal Immigrants — All While Gutting Reforms That Protect American Citizens

A newly released White House memorandum just blew the lid off Democrats’ latest betrayal of the American people.

Buried inside their continuing resolution (CR) is a demand to repeal President Trump’s historic America First healthcare reforms, the very safeguards that protect U.S. citizens from footing the bill for illegal aliens’ medical care.

According to the memo, if Democrats succeed, taxpayers will be on the hook for nearly $200 BILLION in healthcare benefits for illegal immigrants and non-citizens over the next decade, almost enough to fund the entire Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) for the same period.

The Working Families Tax Cut Act (WFTCA), signed into law by President Trump, was designed to end taxpayer subsidies for illegal immigrant healthcare and redirect resources to the most vulnerable Americans. It:

  • Ended Medicaid & Medicare funding for most non-citizens.
  • Shut down the California loophole that allowed liberal states to siphon federal dollars for illegal alien healthcare.
  • Blocked emergency Medicaid expansions that reimbursed hospitals more for treating illegals than for caring for American children and seniors.
  • Repealed the Obamacare “special rule” that gave subsidies to immigrants earning below the poverty line while denying them to poor American citizens

According to the memo, the Democrat proposal would:

  • Spend $193 billion over 10 years on healthcare for illegal immigrants.
  • Repeal safeguards against fraud, improper payments, and abuse of federal programs.
  • Cancel Trump’s $50 billion rural healthcare investment.
  • Eliminate expanded Health Savings Accounts for 10 million Americans.
  • Gut work requirements for able-bodied adults, reviving failed welfare policies

The memo breaks down just how much repealing Trump’s reforms would cost taxpayers:

  • $91.4B – Restoring Obamacare funding for non-citizens
  • $34.6B – Reopening California’s Medicaid scam
  • $28.2B – Emergency care reimbursements for illegals
  • $27.3B – Obamacare “special rule” subsidies for non-citizens
  • $6.2B – Medicaid for non-citizens
  • $5.1B – Medicare for non-citizens
  • TOTAL: $192.8 BILLION

Abigail Spanberger’s Running Mate in Virginia Desecrates American Symbols on the Campaign Trail

Abigail Spanberger is the Democrat running for governor of Virginia. Her running mate Ghazala Hashmi has been spotted on the campaign trail disrespecting symbols of the United States.

As the Gateway Pundit reported last month, Hashmi has a history of denigrating the people of Virginia as racists, so this comes as no surprise.

Of course, disrespecting American symbols won’t bother leftist voters in the state. People on the left are fond of burning American flags, after all.

Townhall reports:

Unhinged Democrat Candidate Caught Desecrating American Symbols on the Trail

Democrats have yet to learn any lessons from their devastating losses in 2024. If there is any Democratic politician who embodies this reality, it is Ghazala Hashmi, who is beclowning herself while running to become Virginia’s next lieutenant governor.

During a recent campaign stop, Hashmi gave a speech in front of a distressed flag hung upside down and a makeshift tombstone that read, “RIP Constitution.”

“We have to fight. We are not going to concede this democracy to the efforts of tyranny,” she shouted. “We are not going to concede the rights that we have in this country to protect every single citizen. We are going to fight. This is an act of civil disobedience that we are going to keep up and make sure that your voices continue throughout Virginia, all throughout the country.”
