Karmelo Anthony Pleads Poverty and Asks for Public Defender Despite $600K Fundraiser, as Family Boosts Goal to $1.4M 

Karmelo Anthony, the 18-year-old Texas teen indicted for the first-degree murder of 17-year-old Austin Metcalf at a Frisco high school track meet in April, has requested a court-appointed public defender, citing financial hardship, despite his family’s GiveSendGo fundraiser raising nearly $600,000.

The family also recently raised the campaign’s goal to $1.4 million, sparking questions about the use of funds. Since the killing, the Anthonys have purchased a new Cadillac and moved into a $900,000 home.

Anthony fatally stabbed 17-year-old Metcalf in the heart at a track meet in Frisco, Texas. He died in the arms of his twin brother.

The killer, who claims self-defense, was released on house arrest with an ankle monitor after his bond was reduced from $1 million to $250,000.

The “Help Karmelo Official Fund” on GiveSendGo, launched by Anthony’s family, had raised $595,000 as of June 26, 2025, initially targeting $350,000 before increasing to $600,000 and now $1.4 million.

The family claims the funds support legal defense, safe relocation due to threats, basic living costs, transportation, trauma counseling, and security measures.

Court records show Anthony’s previous private attorney, Mike Howard, is no longer listed, and on June 25, Anthony’s father, Andrew Anthony, announced the public defender request, claiming indigence.

Howard’s retainer was estimated to be between $10,000 and $30,000, with hourly rates ranging from $400 to $500.

Pulitzer Winning Washington Post Journalist Busted For Child Porn

A Pulitzer-Prize winning Washington Post journalist was arrested and charged with possession of child porn, DC US Attorney Jeanine Pirro announced Friday.

Thomas Pham LeGro, 48, was arrested on Thursday after FBI agents discovered 11 videos of child sexual abuse material on his work laptop during a raid, Pirro’s office says, adding that they also found fractured pieces of a hard drive in his hallway, and seized several electronic devices.

After examining LeGro’s work laptop, the FBI says it found a “folder that contained 11 videos depicting child sexual abuse material.”

LeGro, a veteran journalist who worked at WaPo for 18 years, made his first appearance in District Court of Washington DC on Friday, and has a detention hearing scheduled for next Wednesday, the NY Post reports. He faces a maximum of 20 years in prison if convicted.

A heavily redacted FBI affidavit against LeGro claims the reporter was linked to multiple E-Gold accounts in 2005 and 2006.  

E-Gold was a digital payment service that ceased operations after the feds accused the company in 2007 of laundering money for child pornographers.

LeGro worked for the Post‘s sports department between 2000-2006, left to work as a reporter and producer for “PBS NewsHour”, and then returned to WaPo in 2013. At WaPo, he was part of a team of reporters who won a Pulitzer Prize in 2017 for coverage of former Alabama Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore – who was the victim of a disinformation campaign funded by LinkedIn founder Reid Hoffman.

REPORT: Travis County Prosecutors Allegedly Drop CAPITAL MURDER Charges Against Two of the Four Suspects in Brutal Killing of InfoWars Reporter Jamie White

Travis County prosecutors have allegedly dropped CAPITAL MURDER charges against two of the four suspects involved in the brutal, racially-motivated killing of InfoWars reporter Jamie White—a 36-year-old father and journalist murdered outside his Austin apartment earlier this year.

Jamie White, 36, was found fatally shot in the parking lot of his apartment complex in March.

According to police, the murder occurred during an attempted vehicle burglary by a group of four teenage suspects. White later died from his injuries at the hospital.

One of the suspects, Eloy Adrian Camarillo, 17, confessed to police that he and three of his friends were attempting to break into cars when they encountered White.

During the altercation, White was shot and killed.

Camarillo was originally charged with capital murder, and police made it clear that this was no random crime.

One of the suspects even bragged about the killing in a rap verse, calling the victim a “white boy,” strongly suggesting a racial motive behind the attack.

“White boy came outside / Hit his damn a– with a 9,” the disturbing lyrics from the phone of suspect Rodney Charles Hill reportedly stated.

Hill, 17, was the final suspect arrested, while two others—both under the age of 17—have not been publicly identified due to Texas law.

Sarmiento, known on TikTok as @unleacks, was a programmer and cybersecurity analyst who used his platform with 80,000 followers to denounce police corruption and the links between Chavista regime officials and criminal gangs such as the Tren de Aragua and the Tren del Llano.

Karmelo Anthony’s spokesperson calls for unity ‘in the fight against White supremacy’ after first-degree murder indictment

A spokesperson for Karmelo Anthony, the now 18-year-old who admitted to fatally stabbing student Austin Metcalf at a Texas track meet, has asked people to stand with them “in the fight against White supremacy.”

Dominique Alexander, the founder and president of the Next Generation Action Network (NGAN), took to X to announce that “the legal process will move forward toward trial.”

“This case involves multiple minors and sensitive details that I cannot and will not speak about publicly,” he said. “That is why, from the beginning, I have refused to let this be tried in the court of public opinion.”

He then continued by speaking directly to those who he says have “targeted” Anthony. 

“To the racists, the bigots, and those filled with hate who’ve targeted Karmelo, his family, and even myself – you do not intimidate us. We are not backing down.”

“This case is yet another example of what it means to be Black in America, where even our self-defense is questioned, scrutinized and politicized. My involvement – like many others — came as a direct response to the overwhelming hate, threats and outside influence that have surrounded this case since day one.”

Alexander concluded by asking Anthony’s supporters for prayers, to support due process, and to “stand with us in the fight against White supremacy.”

Sweden plans to remove citizenship from people seen as threat to state

Sweden’s political parties have agreed that dual citizens who commit crimes that threaten national security should lose their citizenship.

A cross-party committee recommended that the change could be applied to anyone who had used bribes or false information to obtain their citizenship; and also if they committed crimes that were a threat to the state or came under the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court.

But it stopped short of proposals by the minority government for gangsters to have their citizenship revoked.

Justice Minister Gunnar Strommer said Sweden was dealing with “violent extremism, state actors acting in a hostile manner towards Sweden, as well as systemic organised crime”.

Under Sweden’s constitution, revoking citizenship is currently not allowed and a vote will take place next year in parliament on changing the laws.

Centre-left opposition parties say that revoking gang criminals’ citizenship would be a step too far, as deciding how to define the law would be difficult. Two opposition parties, the Left and the Greens, said they could not back removing citizenship at all.

However, Sweden’s centre-right governing parties, backed by the more radical anti-immigration Sweden Democrats, want the changes to tackle the dramatic rise in gang crime and the high rate of gun killings.

“The proposals I received today will not give us the possibility to take back Swedish citizenship from gang leaders in criminal networks sitting abroad, directing shootings and bombings and murders on Sweden’s streets,” Strommer told Swedish Radio.

The government points to neighbouring Denmark, where citizenship can already be removed because of an act that is “seriously prejudicial to the vital interests of the state”. The law was recently extended to include some forms of serious gang crime.

Sweden’s minority government has also moved to tighten rules on applying for citizenship.

Migration Minister Johan Forssell said that last year police reported 600 cases of people applying who were considered a threat to national security.

From June 2026, anyone seeking a Swedish passport will generally have to have lived in the country for eight years instead of five at the moment. Tests on Swedish language and society would also be included.

Transgender TikToker Goes Viral for Urging Followers to ‘Get a Gun’ and Kill ICE Agents

A transgender TikToker, who is a biological female, has gone viral for urging her followers to “get a gun” and kill Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.

The far-left TikToker, who goes by the name “Redacted Radical” on the platform, appears to be from either Alaska or California.

As of the time of publishing, The Gateway Pundit has been unable to verify her identity independently.

“You can just kill ICE agents,” she begins the video by saying. “You know that? You can just kill them.”

She continues, “You don’t have to hold your phone in their face and ask people when their birthday is, and ask people what their name is, and try to find wherever they end up in Los Angeles. You can kill them.”

“This isn’t about social media clout anymore,” she says. “This isn’t about video. This isn’t about the phone. This is about get a gun and start killing ICE agents.”

She concludes, “They are deputized corrections officers. Kill them.”

Before posting the video, she posted another one complaining that TikTok did not allow people to say whatever they wanted on the platform.

TikTok has since removed the original video, which she reposted. The platform subsequently removed the sound.

Democrat busted for shoplifting at Target self-checkout line — and uses ailing granny as an excuse

A Democratic state representative from Connecticut busted for shoplifting after failing to scan items at a Target self-checkout offered a litany of excuses, including that he was “in a rush to bring items to my grandmother in the hospital.”

State Rep. Raghib Allie-Brennan was arrested Monday night at a Target store in Bethel, about 60 miles southwest of Hartford, after authorities reviewed security footage allegedly showing he neglected to scan two of his items, totaling $26.69 in value.

He was detained by loss prevention personnel, who later told cops they recognized the four-term lawmaker from “previous unreported larcenies,” CT Mirror reported, citing a Bethel Police arrest summary.

Allie-Brennan, 33, who was first elected in 2018, acknowledged the incident on his Facebook page Tuesday in an excuse-laden post.

“During a recent visit to the Bethel Target, two items in my armload of others were not scanned. I was in a rush to bring items to my grandmother in the hospital, the store didn’t have bags, and I was juggling multiple purchases,” he wrote.

Suspect confesses to crucifying pastor in Arizona home – and had others on hit list

In a chilling jailhouse interview, the man accused of a gruesome, religiously motivated murder of a beloved pastor in Arizona said he had committed the crime and revealed he had a broader hit list of religious leaders he intended to kill during his murderous rampage.

Adam Christopher Sheafe, 51, told True Crime Arizona Monday that he crucified 76-year-old Pastor William Schonemann, known in the community as “Pastor Bill,” inside his New River home in April.

Sheafe said the attack was part of what he claimed was a divine mission to punish religious leaders who, in his view, were misleading followers.

“I drove from there (Phoenix) to Bill’s house, like two in the morning on a Sunday night, and I executed him,” Sheafe told the correspondent Briana Whitney, who sat across the table from him.

Schonemann was found dead in his bed, covered in blood, on April 28 during a welfare check.

During the interview, Sheafe spoke about the disturbing scene, which included details about a crown of thorns, which he said he made from what he found in the woods, and placed on Schonemann’s head.

“Because what I’m saying is, what you’re preaching is not what God said,” Sheafe explained. “It’s the opposite of what God said.”

Sheafe revealed that Schonemann was not his only target. Prior to the murder, he said he had followed a priest home after Easter services in Phoenix with the intent to kill him — the first of 14 intended “executions” across the country.

“Starting in Arizona, where I was born,” Sheafe said. “Where it starts is where it ends, like the Garden of Eden.”

But he claimed to have stopped that first attempt when two women unexpectedly entered the priest’s garage.

“I’m not interested in executing anyone other than the pastors or the shepherds leading the flock astray,” he said.

After killing Schonemann, Sheafe said he traveled to Sedona, where he planned to murder two more religious leaders. He would later be identified as the suspect in a burglary which led to a high-speed chase with Sedona police.

DC government is faking crime data, systematically under-reporting violence

Despite triumphant claims of “historic drops” in violent crime, D.C. residents find ourselves kicking off the summer with feelings of uncertainty. As I explore a possible run for local office, I have learned that systematic undercharging is fueling some portion of these so-called declines in violent crime. In short, a manipulation of the crime statistics is causing them not to align with reality, which helps explain why people in Washington don’t feel safe. 

When a violent crime is reported as a “felony threat,” rather than “assault with a dangerous weapon,” it is not counted as a violent crime.

Our city leaders must act now to determine whether this is happening, to what extent, and how it impacts not only those within my own Ward 6, but also throughout the district.

On Feb. 20, to great fanfare, the Metropolitan Police Department Public Information Officer released the following statement: “Our initiatives and investments led to a historic 35 percent drop in violent crime in 2024, including a 32 percent drop in homicides and a 39 percent decrease in robberies. These decreases drove crime in Washington, D.C. down to its lowest levels in more than two decades.”

Similarly, the Department of Justice previously announced that “total violent crime for 2024 in the District of Columbia is down 35 percent from 2023 and is the lowest it has been in over 30 years, according to data collected by the [Metropolitan Police Department].”

And, not surprisingly, these statistics have worked their way into the community’s bloodstream. In a May 24 Ward 6 Update, Councilman Charles Allen trumpeted them in his public safety updates by noting “a consistent decline in violent crime that we want to sustain and continue to drive down even further.”
