The left’s assassination fixation only further normalizes political violence

The left’s assassination obsession is escalating alarmingly and is being tacitly endorsed in all the wrong places. Some, like Elon Musk, believe it may be orchestrated.

How else do you explain why lefty tech publication Wired has published a story and helpful YouTube video describing how to build a copycat replica of the ghost gun allegedly used by Luigi Mangione to murder UnitedHealth CEO Brian Thompson last December?

The senior writer, Andy Greenberg, who covers hacking, cybersecurity and surveillance for Wired, boasts he used a 3D printer to create an “exact clone” of Mangione’s Glock-style handgun, “down to the stippling on the weapon’s plastic grip.”

YouTube let the video rip despite a policy strictly prohibiting content showing how to make firearms, ammunition or gun accessories.

A week after Israeli DC Embassy employees Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Lynn Milgrim were assassinated by an unhinged leftist in Washington, DC, the Condé Nast magazine’s do-it-yourself gun video is still up on YouTube.

Don’t tell us this is an oversight by YouTube when it regularly cracks down on gun enthusiasts for far less explicit content.

Fannie Mae Partners With Palantir For AI Mortgage Fraud Effort As Trump Works To Take Housing Giants Public

Fannie Mae, the quasi-government financial firm overseen by the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA), announced a partnership with defense tech company Palantir to detect mortgage fraud using the firm’s proprietary technology, which includes some elements of artificial intelligence (just in case they didn’t have all of your info…)

Under the agreement, new mortgage applications would be run through Palantir’s technology suite to uncover fraud before they reach Fannie Mae, according to the housing giant’s president and CEO, Priscilla Almodovar, who added that the tech will allow the organization “to see patterns quicker.”

“We’re going to be able to identify fraud more proactively, as opposed to reactively,” she said during a Wednesday press conference in Washington D.C. “We’re going to be able to understand the fraud and stop it in its tracks. And I think over time, this really becomes a deterrent for bad actors, because we’re creating friction in the system when they do bad things.”

She recalled an exercise where Palantir’s technology was given four actual loan packages to assess, which scoured “reams of paper” and identified instances of fraud within 10 seconds – something that would take a human roughly two months.

FHFA Director Bill Pulte – who’s also chairman of the Fannie Mae board, said that the financial crimes division that monitors both Fannie and Freddie Mac “is only able to root out crime that it gets made aware of,” while Palantir’s red-flag approach would tip off investigators to conduct probes they would otherwise not have known to launch.

Fannie Mae has roughly $4.3 trillion in assets – making it a huge target for fraud.

“Why defraud America when you can go somewhere else that won’t buy or implement actual technology that works?” said Palantir CEO and co-founder Alex Carp, who added that the technology’s approach is a ‘forward-looking’ one in which “unique patterns of fraud that heretofore have not been detected” are highlighted “while simultaneously making sure the data is not being used in a way that customers would not want.”

“That is a transformational difference between how these things were done in the past or could be done [versus] how they can be done now,” Karp continued, according to Fedscoop.

Pulte suggested on Wednesday that this could be the first of many industry collaborations with Palantir.

“There’s a lot of things that are going on with title insurance, with mortgage insurance, with mortgages in general, in terms of AI,” said Pulte. “And so I think we have really scratched the surface with Palantir on mortgage fraud, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see us … enter into [other] partnerships with Palantir. We’re also talking with [Musk’s] xAI about some different AI stuff.”

Declassified Doc: FBI, DOJ Declined To Charge Russia Collusion-Hoaxer Who Allegedly Lied To Congress

Anewly declassified analysis reveals that the FBI and Department of Justice (DOJ) were aware of allegations that Russia-collusion hoaxer Nellie Ohr lied to Congress regarding her role in the infamous Crossfire Hurricane investigation but chose not to pursue charges.

According to the declassified 2019 analysis by the FBI, Ohr — who was working for Fusion GPS– allegedly lied to Congress on multiple occasions regarding her work attempting to link then-candidate Donald Trump and Russia. Fusion GPS was the opposition firm hired by Hillary Clinton’s campaign to dig up non-existent dirt on Trump. Fusion GPS hired ex-British spy Christopher Steele and eventually compiled what became known as the Steele Dossier. The dossier became the basis for the Russia collusion hoax.

Ohr’s husband, Bruce, was an Associate Deputy Attorney General at the DOJ at the time of Ohr’s employment with Fusion GPS.

Ohr and her husband testified before the House Committee on the Judiciary and the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform in 2018 as part of the committee’s investigation into the Russia collusion hoax.

Then-Rep. Mark Meadows of North Carolina filed a criminal referral with the DOJ alleging that Ohr knowingly lied to Congress during her testimony.

According to the newly declassified report, Ohr testified that she “would not have any knowledge of what [was] going on in an ongoing investigation” at the DOJ nor would she have any “knowledge of the Department of Justice’s investigation on Russia.” But “emails reveal [Ohr] shared her research with” DOJ prosecutors and that she was tracking “corruption developments in Russia and Ukraine.”

Ohr also “provided a thumb drive containing all her Fusion GPS research to [her husband] so that he might give it to the FBI.” As previously reported by The Federalist’s Margot Cleveland, Bruce testified that “after the FBI launched an investigation into the Trump campaign, his wife handed him a flash drive consisting of the Trump-Russia research she had compiled for Fusion GPS. Bruce passed Nellie’s opposition-funded research on to the FBI.”

It was further revealed that Ohr deleted emails with DOJ prosecutors, which the report argues is “evidence of deception/concealment as potential indicia of knowledge of ongoing investigations.”

The report further claims that Ohr, in contradiction to her congressional testimony, “disseminated Fusion GPS research to DOJ prosecutors beyond those identified in her testimony.”

The “subject matter researched by Nellie Ohr in furtherance of her Fusion GPS position” was “found in a Fusion GPS document provided to the FBI with the intent of predicating investigative activity,” the analysis states.

Ohr also testified that, according to the analysis, “she did not discuss her Fusion GPS research before fall 2016” except with her husband, Christopher Steele, and an employee of Steele.

“Ohr’s emails, however, reveal that she frequently forwarded open-source research on Russian organized crime figures, Trump, [Paul] Manafort and developments in Ukraine with implications for the Trump campaign,” the analysis states. Ohr was allegedly in communications with three DOJ prosecutors as well.

The report further alleges that Ohr, “in direct contradiction to her testimony … took six ‘ham radio’ classes and an exam during the time she was employed by Fusion GPS.” Ham radios allow communication internationally without a cell signal. According to a press release from Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, records show Ohr’s “entire ham radio training occurred between March to May 2016, while working at Fusion GPS” despite claiming her training occurred prior to her employment at Fusion GPS.

Despite Ohr’s alleged lies, the DOJ and FBI chose not to pursue charges against Ohr.

Did Smoot-Hawley Cause The Great Depression?

Americans are taught in school that the Smoot-Hawley tariff legislation of 1930 greatly exacerbated the Great Depression and sent the world spinning off into a decade of debt deflation and economic contraction.

This seems to make sense until we remember that the history of the United States over the past century was written largely by progressives. In fact, the Great Depression began in 1920 with a decade of falling prices for farm products, a deflationary wave that eventually engulfed the real estate sector and the entire US economy.

What is missed by many discussions of Smoot-Hawley during and after that period, is the fact that the economic collapse of the 1930s was already a given with or without the new tariff law. The impetus behind the political decision to raise tariffs was a misguided reaction to the collapse of agricultural prices, but the force behind this deflationary wave was primarily “positive” factors such as new technology and innovation. The deflation that began after WWI decimated farm communities and eventually led to the collapse of real estate prices, particularly Florida real estate.

Support for protectionism was the consistent refrain from the corporate and farm lobbies in Washington in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries and was supported by members of both political parties. But the real underlying cause of the powerful political push to raise the existing tariffs even higher at the end of 1929 may be found in the substantial changes that were occurring in the American economy.

Many historians and economists blame the level of tariffs after World War I and particularly during the Great Depression for making more severe the economic contraction and unemployment following the 1929 market crash. The passage of the Fordney-McCumber Tarif Act in 1922 symbolized the unique Republican penchant for trade protectionism — and currency inflation — that stretched decades back in time to the party’s inception in the 1850s.

In his 2005 book, “Making Sense of Smoot Hawley,” Bernard Beaudreau argues that the imposition of tariff protection for U.S. industry in 1930 was simply a continuation of the policies implemented by the Republican Party after they returned to power in 1920. Beaudreau cites the rising productivity of U.S. factories, the spread of electrification throughout America, and the continued influx of cheap foreign-produced food and manufactured goods as the chief cause of the deflation during this period. Bread production, for example, became automated in the 1920s, contributing to a decline in bread prices.

Imports were still perceived to be a threat by the American manufacturers of that day, despite already high tariff levels. Underemployment was the result of the lack of demand and thus falling product prices that resulted in the 1930s. American industry became too efficient too quickly, resulting in a global surplus of goods and an equally dangerous lack of demand. Air-conditioning and improved transport helped to leverage the future value of Florida swamp land into a towering speculative bubble that collapsed two years before the Great Crash of 1929.

A century before the invention of such things as “artificial intelligence” or AI, American workers worried about technology taking their livelihoods. Senator Reed Smoot (1862-1941), Republican of Utah, said of Smoot-Hawley: “To hold the American tariff policy, or any other policy of our government, responsible for this gigantic deflationary move is only to display one’s ignorance of its universal character. The world is paying for its ruthless destruction of life and property in the World War and for its failure to adjust purchasing power to productive capacity during the industrial revolution of the decade following the war.”

The onset of the Great Depression from the summer of 1929 on brought the unemployment rate from 4.6 percent in 1929 to 8.9 percent in 1930. Congress sought to correct this imbalance by limiting imports via the Smoot-Hawley tariff. While there is little doubt that higher tariffs made the Great Depression worse, higher levies on imports may not have been the primary factor. Indeed, the introduction of electricity and other innovations drove strong growth in many sectors of the economy, but not on the farm.

This alternative view of the role of Smoot-Hawley in turning the market crash of 1929 into the Great Depression of the 1930s is important to understanding the narrative of the 1920s. Following the Great Depression and World War II, the U.S. position regarding tariffs changed dramatically, in part because much of the industrial capacity of Europe and Asia was destroyed by the conflict.

Documents Show DC Bar Skirted Its Own Rules And Due Process To Target Jeff Clark

The D.C. Bar skirted its rules dictating how to fairly open a disciplinary investigation to target and potentially disbar Trump-era Department of Justice official Jeffrey Clark, new documents obtained by The Federalist reveal.

During his brief tenure as U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, Ed Martin sought information about the D.C. Bar’s weaponization of its punishment process against Republican lawyers. His letters to the D.C. Bar’s Office of Disciplinary Counsel (ODC) and the bombshell replies he received not only confirm the legal licensing association’s lawfare against Clark was inspired by a sitting Democrat senator, but also expose the D.C. Bar for trying to cover up its partisan motives.

In a February 7 letter to the D.C. Bar’s Disciplinary Counsel Hamilton P. Fox III, Martin asked the association to produce proof by February 21 that “you are even-handed in your policies” and explain how the Bar handles “clearly politically motivated attacks that come from certain ‘public interest’ groups.”

“This would include something that explains how you limit the targeting of individuals who you may disagree,” Martin noted.

Martin was referring to Clark, who was charged by the legal licensing association in in July 2022 with “attempted … conduct involving dishonesty” and “attempted … conduct that would seriously interfere with the administration of justice.” Clark was also named as one of the 19 “co-conspirator” targets in Democrats’ wide-ranging election indictment in Georgia and even had his house raided by the FBI.

The investigation into Clark appeared to be inspired by a report forwarded to Hamilton’s office on October 7, 2021 by the chief counsel for oversight on the Democrat-controlled Senate Judiciary Committee. The 394-page document alleged Clark played a key role in a plot to “wield [the] DOJ’s power to override the already-certified popular vote.”

The Trump-era DOJ official did not commit a crime when he drafted a letter to Georgia officials noting the DOJ “identified significant concerns that may have impacted the outcome of the [2020] election in multiple States, including the State of Georgia.” In fact, Clark chose not to send the letter after facing objections from his DOJ superiors and a pivot from then-President Donald Trump.

Peter Thiel’s visions of ApocalypseIs AI the Antichrist?

Peter Thiel is a big thinker, and these days he’s been thinking about Doomsday. In a series of four lectures he’s given three times, at Oxford, Harvard, and the University of Austin, he’s tried to understand human history, and particularly modernity, within the framework of biblical prophecies of the End of Days. Thiel believes that the Antichrist, whose identity is uncertain — is it a person, a system, a global tyranny? — is “not just a medieval fantasy”. His free-ranging lectures, moving rapidly between disparate texts (Gulliver’s Travels; Alan Moore’s graphic novel Watchmen) and topics (sacred violence; high-velocity global financial systems), defy easy summary. But their leading themes include the Antichrist’s relationship to Armageddon and the roles of technology and empire in the Antichrist’s rise. It’s an ambitious, thought-provoking attempt to weave, from seemingly unrelated strands of meaning, a theological/anthropological/historical narrative that aims to make sense of the whole of human experience.

Some will find Thiel’s project very odd. How could an enormously successful, mathematically-gifted, philosophically-educated tech entrepreneur seriously entertain Bible-thumping myths from the Apocalypse of John? Here’s a better question: how could he — and we — not take them seriously? As Dorian Lynskey writes in his book, Everything Must Go: The Stories We Tell About the End of the World, “apocalyptic angst has become a constant: all flow and no ebb.” Contemporary culture has long been saturated with post-apocalyptic novels, comic books, films, TV series, and video games. Zombie end-times fantasies do particularly well in all formats. The mindless, mechanical mob of the undead, who hunger insatiably for the brains of the living, has become a primary and pervasive cultural symbol — one that resonates with a widespread sense of impending catastrophe that’s been building steadily since the 2020 Covid lockdowns. And if bioweapons, climate change, nuclear bombs, or AI don’t drive the human species to extinction, drastic measures deemed necessary to forestall such dangers, such as the establishment of a single world government, might themselves bring an end to politics, morality, spiritual life, and culture. Thiel is driven to find a way between the binary alternative of No World or One World, the whirlpool of planetary destruction or the many-headed monster of global totalitarianism.

Thiel’s insight is that, unlike most contemporary imaginings of global catastrophe, the Bible’s prophecies do more than pluck our inner strings of existential dread. They help us to understand our chaotic times. Matthew 24:24 predicts that “[T]here shall arise false Christs and false prophets … [and] they shall deceive the very elect.” In other words, the Antichrist will attempt to appear more Christian than Christ himself, even as it works to accomplish the wholesale destruction of the Christian underpinnings of Western civilisation. The Nazis pursued this strategy, but were hampered by the limited appeal of their antisemitic ideology. German theologians fashioned a new myth of Jesus as a spirited warrior who strove to destroy Judaism, and they elevated Hitler to the status of the second coming of Christ, who would finish the work Jesus failed to complete: the total extermination of Jews and Judaism. A more successful Antichrist would, like the French revolutionaries and the Marxists, promote values that seem more consistent with the Judeo-Christian foundations of civilisation, such as universal liberty, equality, and justice.

Merkel’s Back, Warns Europe Could Be ‘Destroyed’ Without More Open-Borders

Former German Chancellor Angela Merkel is back with a message; Europe could be ‘destroyed’ unless they continue to allow millions of ‘non-Europeans’ to flood the bloc.

Criticizing Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s migration policy, Merkel told Southwestern Press Forum in Neu-Ulm last week that efforts to secure borders could have catastrophic consequences.

“I do not believe we can decisively combat illegal migration at the German-Austrian or German-Polish border… I have always advocated European solutions,” she said when asked about Merz’s latest measures adopted by his cabinet – which include a prohibition on asylum applications at all German land borders, with exceptions for pregnant woman, children and other vulnerable individuals – a sharp reversal from Merkel’s 2015 open-border policy.

“Otherwise, we could see Europe destroyed,” she continued.

Critics have called Merkel’s open-border policy “disastrous” after over a million migrants flooded into Germany during the peak of the 2015-2016 refugee crisis, while Germany continues to be the top destination for asylum seekers – ‘welcoming’ over 237,000 applicants in 2023, roughly 25% of the bloc’s total, according to EU stats.

Department of Interior emails reveal Biden’s offshore wind waivers could cost taxpayers millions

Newly uncovered emails from the Biden administration’s Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) show that taxpayers could be on the hook for $191 million in removal costs for Vineyard Wind, a 62-turbine wind farm being constructed off the coast of Nantucket, as a result of waivers the administration granted Vineyard Wind and other East Coast projects.

In its rush to fulfill former President Joe Biden’s goal of constructing 30 gigawatts of wind farms off the coasts of America, the Biden administration had issued waivers for financial assurances on offshore wind projects, saying they present an unnecessary burden to the industry.

The financial assurance requirement protects the public from decommissioning liabilities. If companies can’t afford to remove the wind towers they’re building after their useful life, the public has an assurance that those liabilities will be covered.

In 2017, Vineyard Wind requested a waiver to delay the assurances for 15 years after the project was built, and it was denied. They requested the same waiver in 2021 under the Biden administration, and the request was granted. The waiver cited long-term power purchase agreements, which guarantee the facility operators a set price for the electricity they produce over 20 years, “robust insurance policies,” and the “use of proven technology.”

UK Rail Station Volunteer Ousted For Wrongthink Over ‘Pride’ Train… And He Is Gay

A volunteer has been banned from a railway charity scheme in the UK after he asked a basic question regarding a train that had been wrapped in ‘Pride’ colours.

The Telegraph reports, “Matthew Toomer, 48, was thrown out of West Midlands Railway’s ‘Adopt a Station’ scheme after he privately contacted company bosses to express concern about its ‘Progress Pride’ train.”

What awful hateful thing did Mr. Toomer say?

He commented on a social media post about the rebranded train, asking if it would “return to its natural state once the event is over.”

Oh the horror.

He was then “summoned” to attend a meeting with railway officials and informed that he views (he didn’t express any views) “do not align with [WMR’s] values and mission.”

He was then banned from the station volunteer group altogether as punishment for merely hinting at not being fully onboard with the trans train.

Mr Toomer told reporters “As a gay man myself, I want to stress that this wasn’t about objecting to visibility.”

Yes, even the gays can’t ask questions about the relentless ‘progress’ of THE MESSAGE.

“My concern was the increasing tendency of public transport organisations to take visible positions on divisive issues,” Toomer further outlines, adding “The Progress Pride flag has become associated with particular ideological stances – particularly around gender – which not everyone, including many within the LGB community, fully endorse.”

“My position was simply that public services should remain neutral and welcoming to everyone,” he emphasised.

Noooooo. That opinion won’t do.

While the Free Speech Union has demanded that the train company “apologise for this vindictive decision and reinstate him,” the Telegraph gleaned that the company had basically scoured Mr. Toomer’s social media activity and discerned that it was “problematic”.

A WMR spokesman said “Our company has a proud culture of inclusion and allyship,” adding “We believe the views Mr Toomer has expressed on social media on a range of subjects are at odds with these values and could be harmful or offensive to our colleagues, customers or other volunteers.”

Wrongthink then, essentially.

HHS Urges Medical Providers, States to Immediately Revise Gender Dysphoria Care Practices

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is telling health care providers, risk managers, and state medical boards to immediately update their treatment protocols for minors with gender dysphoria.

In a letter on May 28, the agency said that it expects federally funded health care groups to follow its review that outlines the most up-to-date science to guide policies for pediatric gender dysphoria treatment. Its comprehensive review was published earlier this month and found sufficient international evidence that puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and surgeries pose significant risks, including irreversible sterilization.

After releasing its review, HHS said the recommended treatment plan is psychotherapy, citing it as a noninvasive alternative to “endocrine and surgical interventions for the treatment of pediatric gender dysphoria.” Some of the other cited risks include lower bone density and heart disease.

The agency is now telling health care providers to no longer rely on previous “discredited guidelines” for pediatric gender dysphoria, arguing there is “weak evidence and growing international retreat” from using puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and surgeries as the recommended approach for minors with the condition.

Instead, providers should adhere to the HHS review for updates to prior guidelines.

“Given your ‘obligation to avoid serious harm’ … and the findings of the Review, HHS expects you promptly to make the necessary updates to your treatment protocols and training for care for children and adolescents with gender dysphoria to protect them from these harmful interventions,” the agency wrote in its Wednesday letter.
