New research suggests COVID was less deadly than thought in first year of pandemic
COVID-19 was less lethal across nearly every age group in its first full year than previously thought, according to an updated review of global research from Stanford University’s Meta-Research Innovation Center (METRIC).
Between summer and Christmas 2021, METRIC’s estimates of deaths from infection fell by half in multiple age groups, including young people, and less sharply in others.
The international estimates, which have not been peer-reviewed, are not substantially different from the CDC’s own “best estimate” of COVID mortality in the U.S., last updated in March. They use different age ranges, making exact comparisons difficult.
The findings raise questions about ongoing COVID restrictions and mandates, particularly for schoolchildren and college students, who remain at the lowest overall risk from infection.
The risk-benefit ratio of vaccine boosters is also under scrutiny, with international authorities souring on their wide deployment and a new Israeli study finding that a fourth dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines doesn’t stop the Omicron variant.
Biden’s FCC Commissioner Nominee Gigi Sohn Wants To Nuke Right-Leaning Broadcasters From Air
President Joe Biden’s nominee for commissioner of the Federal Communications Commission hates Fox News and wants the federal agency to regulate conservative broadcasts because she disagrees with them.
The White House first announced Gigi Sohn as Biden’s FCC nominee in October.
“Gigi is one of the nation’s leading public advocates for open, affordable, and democratic communications networks,” the Biden administration claimed. “For over thirty years, Gigi has worked to defend and preserve the fundamental competition and innovation policies that have made broadband Internet access more ubiquitous, competitive, affordable, open, and protective of user privacy.”
Sohn’s inclination towards censorship and partisan regulation, however, torpedoed her chances of confirmation. Biden re-nominated Sohn at the beginning of the year but her chances of gaining Republican support are once again slim considering her history of criticizing and painting TV networks she disagrees with as threats to our democracy that need to be punished.
In one 2019 tweet, Sohn hinted that Fox News should be scrutinized because they “have played their own role in destroying democracy.”
“I agree that scrutiny of big tech is essential, as is scrutiny of big telecom, cable & media. And trust me, the latter have played their own role in destroying democracy & electing autocrats. Like, say, Fox News?” she tweeted.
Residents Of Japanese Town Say A Mountain Has Been A Hotspot For UFOs Since The 1970s
The residents of a mountain town in Japan say they have seen UFOs and aliens since the 1970s, Vice News reported Tuesday.
Iino, a quiet mountain town of about 1,900 outside Fukushima, is adorned with statues of aliens and its mascot is a white alien piloting a golden flying saucer, according to Vice News.
Tsugio Kinoshina, a UFO researcher, said he saw his first UFO in 1972 at age 25 while he was hiking a mountain with his friends, Vice News reported.
“This thing stuck out in front of me,” Kinoshina told Vice. “Starting and stopping in the blue sky. Then all of a sudden, it was gone.”
Kinoshina told Vice he thinks the aliens wanted to let him know they exist. “‘We’re here, too, on the other side of the distant sky,’” Kinoshina told Vice. “I think they just wanted us to know that.”
Since the sighting, Kinoshina has spent his time collecting as much information as he can about extraterrestrial life and does not dismiss people’s stories, according to Vice.
“I listen to what people have to say, and then I draw what can be drawn, and then I transcribe what can be transcribed, and then I make a handmade newspaper,” Kinoshina told Vice.
For decades, there have been stories about alien life near Mount Senganmori, the outlet reported. In September 2020, Japan encouraged the town to open the country’s first-ever lab that observes UFOs. Iino’s UFO lab director, Toshio Kanno, said it’s most important to collect videos and photos of the objects and that documentation is key.

Penn State professor: Maybe masked drunk drivers should speed through ‘pro-covid’ neighborhoods
A Penn State University professor recently compared those who say mask and vaccine mandates violate their personal liberties to drunk drivers.
“Why is it a parent’s right to endanger the lives of other people’s kids and of teachers?” Professor Edward Fuller tweeted Sunday. “Maybe ppl wearing masks should just drive drunk and speed thru the neighborhoods of pro-covid parents as a way to exercise their freedom and rights.”
Fuller, an associate professor of education and director of the Penn State Center for Evaluation and Education Policy Analysis, has since deleted the tweet and switched his account to private.
VA mistakenly approved doctors with revoked or suspended medical licenses to treat veterans
The Department of Veterans Affairs failed to thoroughly vet medical providers for its community care program, resulting in doctors with revoked or suspended medical licenses being approved to treat veterans, according to a new report from the Government Accountability Office.
The GAO investigated the VA’s community care program, which sends veterans to private-sector doctors in certain situations. When vetting doctors to allow them into the program, the VA was “cutting corners,” the investigation found. The GAO identified 1,600 providers who were ineligible for the program under the VA’s policies but had been accepted into it.
In some cases, the doctors had criminal records or had previously committed health-care fraud.
Presidential Debate Commission Chief Held ‘Off-The-Record’ Meetings With Chinese Communist Propagandists, And Xi Jinping.
Kenneth Wollack, a Co-Chair of the Commission of Presidential Debates, participated in several “off-the-record” dialogues with Chinese Communist Party officials and influence groups, The National Pulse can exclusively reveal.
Wollack – also the Chairman of the publicly-funded National Endowment for Democracy (NED) board – was one of ten principal delegates for what was called the inaugural U.S.-China High-Level Political Party Leaders Dialogue, hosted by the EastWest Institute “in partnership” with the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.
The U.S. delegation was led by former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine K. Albright, whose daughter Alice was recently tapped to run a key Biden-era foreign aid initiative despite her massive investments with the Chinese Communist Party.
“It seeks to build understanding and trust between political elites from the United States and China through an exchange of views on governance and foreign policy issues,” summarizes the think-tank.
The EastWest Institute, however, has a long track record of collaborating with premier Chinese influence groups including the China-United States Exchange Foundation (CUSEF).
Army Conducting Two-Week ‘Guerrilla Warfare Exercise’ in Rural North Carolina Focused On Battling ‘Freedom Fighters’
The US Army is conducting a two-week “guerrilla warfare exercise” in rural North Carolina focused on battling “freedom fighters” and putting down a secessionist movement.
The exercise comes right as the Justice Department under Attorney General Merrick Garland announced the creation of a new “domestic terrorism unit” to go after American citizens as terrorists.
The exercise also comes after Army General Mark Milley, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, embraced indoctrinating the military with critical race theory propaganda to help soldiers understand the “white rage” that led to Jan 6.
Though such drills are nothing new, they’re taking on new significance with the DC regime launching their new Domestic War On Terror.
