Abigail Spanberger’s Running Mate in Virginia Desecrates American Symbols on the Campaign Trail

Abigail Spanberger is the Democrat running for governor of Virginia. Her running mate Ghazala Hashmi has been spotted on the campaign trail disrespecting symbols of the United States.

As the Gateway Pundit reported last month, Hashmi has a history of denigrating the people of Virginia as racists, so this comes as no surprise.

Of course, disrespecting American symbols won’t bother leftist voters in the state. People on the left are fond of burning American flags, after all.

Townhall reports:

Unhinged Democrat Candidate Caught Desecrating American Symbols on the Trail

Democrats have yet to learn any lessons from their devastating losses in 2024. If there is any Democratic politician who embodies this reality, it is Ghazala Hashmi, who is beclowning herself while running to become Virginia’s next lieutenant governor.

During a recent campaign stop, Hashmi gave a speech in front of a distressed flag hung upside down and a makeshift tombstone that read, “RIP Constitution.”

“We have to fight. We are not going to concede this democracy to the efforts of tyranny,” she shouted. “We are not going to concede the rights that we have in this country to protect every single citizen. We are going to fight. This is an act of civil disobedience that we are going to keep up and make sure that your voices continue throughout Virginia, all throughout the country.”

The Left Has Abandoned Rational Debate And Embraced Political Violence

ith each passing day it becomes more obvious that the left has become incapable of rational debate or political compromise, and must now embrace the only tools available to it: intimidation, coercion, and political violence. Whatever liberals might believe about their progressive politics, today their program is based not on persuasion or representation, still less on open-minded rational inquiry or practical solutions to problems. It’s based on force.

The assassination of Charlie Kirk last month is of course emblematic of what the left has become. Kirk was murdered for speaking out against transgenderism. Dissenting from that ideology in particular is intolerable for the left because it encapsulates an ideal of total liberation — even from nature itself. But there are plenty of examples just from the past week of the left resorting to violence, or threats of violence, to advance their cause.

Call it the assassin’s or rioter’s veto — the last tactic of a liberal project that has reached an intellectual and political dead-end in the aftermath of Kirk’s assassination.

Consider the cancellation of a Federalist Society event scheduled for Oct. 7 at New York University Law School, which cited “security reasons” and fears that anti-Israel protesters would disrupt it. The event was to feature conservative legal scholar Ilya Shapiro discussing his new book, Lawless: The Miseducation of American Elites.

Shapiro is Jewish, and has been critical of campus anti-Israel protests in the past — the same sort of protests NYU officials anticipate on Oct. 7, and which, according to reporting from The Washington Free Beacon, the school is apparently unable to control. And yet, as the Beacon further reported, the law school “is slated to host a seven-hour symposium on ‘social entrepreneurship, impact investing, and sustainable development’ that same day.” They don’t fear riots over that event, but cannot (or will not) guarantee the safety of Shapiro’s event.

What’s more, for weeks now law school officials have been changing their justification for why they canceled the event, alternatively citing the threat of protests, a conflicting “private event,” the inability to host outside speakers the week of Oct. 7, and lack of space.

But we all know the real reason law school officials canceled the Federalist Society event: Shapiro is Jewish and conservative, they fear antisemitic rioters will attack the event and possibly Shapiro himself, and they are unwilling to do what’s necessary to protect him.

That’s how the rioter’s veto works, and it’s become commonplace on the left for the simple reason that the left refuses to engage in debate about these things. They’ve reached the end of rational inquiry and civil dialogue, and are increasingly resorting to force.

Or consider what’s unfolded this week in Portland, where Antifa rioters have besieged an Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility and recently began attacking members of the press who dare to report on what’s happening there.

Katie Daviscourt, a reporter for The Post Millennial, was attacked by an Antifa rioter who hit her in the face with a wooden flagpole, “swinging it like a baseball bat,” in Daviscourt’s words. Portland Police were on the scene, but allowed the masked assailant to escape despite Daviscourt identifying her attacker to an officer on the scene. The next day, she appeared on Fox News and on Jack Posobiec’s show with a black eye.

German Left Party Calls for Assassination of AfD’s Alice Weidel After Justifying Killing of Charlie Kirk – Taxpayer Funded with $27.5 Million

The Antifa-related youth wing of the German opposition party The Left has called for the assassination of AfD leader Alice Weidel, two weeks after justifying the assassination of American hero Charlie Kirk. The party The Left is state-funded with €9 million a year, plus €14 million for its foundation.

The Hanover chapter of the “Left Youth” (Linksjugend.solid) stickered an image of Alice Weidel, chairperson of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, with crosshairs and the text “Aim Here”, across town in Hanover,  as videos show.

After the assassination of Charlie Kirk Sept. 10, the “Left Youth” posted that “right-wing politics leads to bloody bullets” on Instagram, which has since been deleted. The post called it a “fatal mistake” to mourn the father of two. “A targeted shot” brought “the end of his right-wing radical, inhumane and exploitative policies”, the Left Youth posted. “We do not mourn the reactionary ideas of Charlie Kirk, which are not out of the world with his death,” the Left Youth wrote.

The youth wing of the party The Left has been classified as far-left since 2012. The Left is the successor of the former East German Communist Party and has 64 seats in the Bundestag out of 630 (8.8%). The Left is also represented in 7 State Parliaments, including 22 seats out of 159 in Berlin and 15 seats out of 121 in Hamburg.

In 2025, the party The Left receives €9,144,020 federal funding plus €14,370,800 for its Rosa Luxemburg Foundation, meaning over $27.5 million federal funding for a party that calls for the assassination of their political opponents in Germany and the United States.

The AfD is currently polling in first place in Germany, with 26% of the population. AfD politicians are regularly threatened and attacked, with tacit approval of the leftist legacy media, the losing center-left parties and the failing Merz government.

In 2023, Alice Weidel had to be evacuated by police from her home after clear and present danger of a threat to her life.

Chinese Flag Raised Over Philadelphia

On September 30, the flag of China was raised over the birthplace of the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution. The flag was raised by Philadelphia’s Office of Immigrant Affairs to commemorate the founding of the Chinese Communist Party, in what was advertised as a harmless gesture of goodwill honoring the Chinese immigrant community.

Not surprisingly, the move drew sharp criticism, including from Select Committee on China Chairman John Moolenaar (R-Mich.), who pointed out that the flag is not merely a national symbol, but represents China’s oppressive totalitarian regime, which not only broadly persecutes and oppresses its own citizens, but is America’s avowed enemy besides.

Honoring Diversity

The flag-raising ceremony, which has been done at least twice in the recent past, was approved by the Philadelphia Honors Diversity Flag Raising Program, which was established in 2018. According to Philadelphia City Solicitor Renee Garcia, speaking with Newsweek, “In accordance with First Amendment precedent, the City of Philadelphia’s flag-raising policy applies objective, viewpoint-neutral criteria, specifically, a foreign nation’s flag may be raised if the country maintains a Consulate or Embassy in the United States or is recognized by the U.S. Department of State. The People’s Republic of China meets both criteria.”

Disgrace to Our Values

Congressman Moolenaar, by contrast, said, “Raising the flag of the People’s Republic of China over Philadelphia is a disgrace to our nation’s founding values and flies in the face of all the courageous dissidents and human rights advocates who tirelessly work to bring freedom to the Chinese people.” And Rushan Abbas, advocate for China’s oppressed Uighurs, said that “Philadelphia, the birthplace of the U.S. Constitution, should not be used as a platform for authoritarian propaganda.”

Alas, these are the kinds of needless moral dilemmas that arise when we continue to allow our political and industrial leaders to have it both ways: to benefit economically from continued engagement with communist China, even as that regime continues to turn our own resources against us and works to subvert and destroy us. With the deadliest regime in human history, there can be no middle ground.

Mystery deepens over aide who set herself on fire as congressman cancels events and police withhold records

After one of his staffers died from dousing herself with gasoline and catching fire, a Texas Congressman has canceled all media events – seemingly to avoid questions about her death.

Regina Santos-Aviles, 35, poured gasoline on herself before she became engulfed in flames at her home on September 13 in Uvalde, Texas – about two hours outside of San Antonio.

The married mother of one, who was separated from her husband according to the San Antonio Express News, had worked for Republican Rep. Tony Gonzales as regional district director since 2021.

‘The last thing she said is, “I don’t want to die,”‘ Aviles’ mother Nora Gonzales told the Express News

She was airlifted to San Antonio, where she died at the hospital the next day.

Investigators have yet to determine her cause of death, with the medical examiner telling Daily Mail Thursday that the autopsy results are still pending.

However, Uvalde police believe she was alone in her backyard when she started to burn, according to the Express News, who reported her death as a self-immolation.

Days after her death, the media was disinvited to an event where Gonzales would be face-to-face with reporters.

Gonzales had been scheduled to visit Southwest Research Institute in San Antonio for the opening of a new research facility September 22.

ANTIFA By Night, NGOs By Day: Left-Wing Political Machine Runs 24/7 Outside Portland ICE Facility

Real America’s Voice correspondent Ben Bergquam visited the ICE facility in South Portland, exposing how the left-wing political machine operates, from Antifa attacks on the building at night to dark-money–funded NGOs providing support to illegal aliens by day. Together, this paints the picture of how the left’s machine works to subvert the nation, and in extension, national security

Let’s begin with Bergquam’s late-night reporting outside the ICE facility in Portland that shows the federal government personnel countering Antifa warriors who attempted to undermine the Trump administration’s deportation program of criminal illegals.

By early morning, Antifa cells scatter like ants, only to be replaced by workers from leftist NGOs, according to Bergquam, who spoke with Steve Bannon. He noted that these NGO workers are “aiding and abetting illegal aliens” outside the courthouse in Portland.

Bergquam added, “These leftist NGOs are also part of the networks of telling these illegals when ICE is coming to their communities – it’s all a coordinated effort.”

OMB Director Russ Vought Strikes Again: Eliminates $8 Billion in Green New Scam Funding to Liberal States

Russ Vought, the Director of the Office of Management and Budget (ONB), stripped $8 billion in funding for green new scam projects in numerous far left states.

The projects are in the following states: CA, CO, CT, DE, HI, IL, MD, MA, MN, NH, NJ, NM, NY, OR, VT, and WA.

This comes after Vought announced this morning on X that he had frozen about $18 BILLION in infrastructure projects for New York City, saying he was trying to ensure such funding would not go to fund DEI projects.

“Roughly $18 billion in New York City infrastructure projects have been put on hold to ensure funding is not flowing based on unconstitutional DEI principles,” Vought wrote.

“More info to come soon from @USDOT.”

As The Gateway Pundit reported, the Schumer Shutdown took effect at 12:01 am after two measures to avert the government shutdown failed in the Senate.

The measures needed 60 votes to pass. The GOP-backed measure failed to pass in a 55-45 vote – Rand Paul voted with the Democrats.

The Democrat Party and Paul decided to put the welfare of illegal aliens, surgeries for transgender minors, and more garbage ahead of keeping the government running.

GOP, Here’s Your Soundbite for the Looming Schumer Shutdown Fight.

There’s not going to be a deal to keep the government open, so a shutdown is imminent. It will also last a few days. The Senate will be adjourned for Yom Kippur, although it is unlikely that Democrats will budge, at least for now. The GOP war room must weaponize what the party already clipped and posted on social media: Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) admitting that the Democrats are shutting the government down over health care for illegal aliens.

This exchange says it all. Republicans should give her a gift basket. This issue was settled with the Big, Beautiful Bill, which purged illegals from the Medicaid rolls. When you peel back the theatrics, the Democrats are gearing up for a fight they cannot win. Shutting down the government over illegal alien health care, funding for National Public Radio, and repealing the rural healthcare fund are loser issues. The only question is whether Republicans a) recognize it, and b) have a killer narrative to shred the Democratic theatrics here.

Texas Congressional Staffer ‘Doused Herself in Gasoline’ and Lit Herself on Fire

According to a new report, the Texas GOP congressional staffer who died earlier this month after she caught on fire in her home doused herself in gasoline and set her body on fire.

After reviewing surveillance video, authorities determined Regina Santos-Aviles was in her backyard alone when she caught fire on September 13.

Santos-Aviles was alive when first responders arrived at her home late in the evening on September 13; however, she passed away the next morning.

Firefighters also had to put out burning gas cans, according to the report obtained by Uvalde Leader-News.

Texas officials did not disclose whether Santos-Aviles deliberately set herself on fire; however, her family insists it was an accident.

“Her last words were, ‘I don’t want to die,’” a family member previously told KSAT.

The 35-year-old worked for US Rep. Tony Gonzales as a congressional staffer.

The official cause of death is still pending.

If Socialists Actually Understood Socialism…

In light of recent developments in New York City, specifically on the recent primary elections and the emergence of self-described democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani as a potential mayoral candidate, as well as the increasingly aggressive public engagement of Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in their tour around the United States, and the fact that AOC’s chances of becoming the 2028 Democratic presidential nominee have doubled within one week, it has become clear to me that socialist rhetoric is gaining momentum in American political discourse.

This trend is further reflected in survey data from the Pew Research Center, which shows that approximately 36 percent of U.S. adults aged 18 to 29 now view socialism positively. In response to these developments, it is imperative to contribute to the proper education and clarification of what these socialists are actually advocating for, or even what true socialism truly advocates for.

Friedrich von Hayek, Nobel laureate and one of the most influential economists and political philosophers of the 20th century, once remarked, “If socialists understood economics, they wouldn’t be socialists.”

Building on his erudition, I would add: If socialists understood socialism, they wouldn’t be socialists.

The true definition of socialism is a social and economic doctrine that advocates for public, rather than private, ownership or control of property and natural resources—the means of production. It is both a political and economic system in which the means of production are owned and controlled collectively by the community or the state, rather than by private individuals. In other words, in practice, the means of production are controlled by a minority political elite.

Now, no matter whether an economic system is capitalist, socialist, or any other, it is important to note that the system itself is not a utopia or an end in and of itself, but a means to an end. Economic systems ration scarce resources, goods, and services, and each one does this through either a private or a social decision-making process, but only individuals can truly make decisions. Modern money economies operate on prices which reflect the value assigned by either individuals or groups, as well as supply and demand. However, who gets to decide what is supplied and what is demanded differs across these systems. Socialism claims that shared ownership will foster broader participation, leading to everyone sharing in the benefits. Although this is impossible, it remains the foundational argument.

Many socialists have bypassed the foundational principle of collective ownership of production and have instead jumped straight to demands for ownership or redistribution of the output of production. Production is seemingly taken for granted. This conceptual shortcut makes socialism seem like a dream economic system by avoiding what socialism really is.

Therefore, although many public and political arguments are made in the name of socialism, what is often advocated for is not true socialism. In reality, the debate has rarely centered on collective ownership of the means of production—such as the factories, tools, land, and capital that make production possible—but instead on ownership or control of the outputs of production (goods and services).

Simply put, many self-identified socialists are less interested in owning the means of production and more interested in claiming entitlement to what is currently being produced or the production that someone else already owns.
