NYC Socialist Mamdani Calls to Abolish ICE After Armed Agitator Shot by Border Patrol

Minneapolis Mayor Mamdani issued a public statement on Saturday sharply criticizing U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement following a fatal shooting earlier in the day involving federal agents and an armed man in Minneapolis.

Mamdani’s comments come amid heightened tensions in the city after a series of federal law enforcement actions this month that have drawn intense scrutiny and public reaction.

In a post on X, the mayor said the latest incident reflects broader concerns about federal law enforcement conduct across the nation.

“As tens of thousands across America protest the violence that ICE sows with impunity, federal agents shot and killed another person in Minneapolis today,” Mamdani said in his statement posted Saturday.

Powdered whole milk may be culprit in botulism outbreak that sickened dozens of babies

Powdered whole milk used to make ByHeart infant formula could be the source of contamination that led to an outbreak of botulism that sickened dozens of babies.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported the details on Friday.

Powdered whole milk may be culprit in botulism outbreak

What we know:

Testing by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) found that bacteria in an unopened can of formula matched a sample from a sick baby — and it also matched contamination detected in samples of organic whole milk powder used to make ByHeart formula and collected and tested by the company, officials said.

FDA testing also found contamination in a sample of whole milk powder supplied to ByHeart — and it matched the germ in a finished sample of the company’s formula.

What they’re saying:

A ByHeart official said the finding helps shed light on what has become a “watershed moment” for the company.

“We are focused on the root cause and our responsibility to act on what we’ve learned to help create a safer future for ByHeart and infant formula,” said Dr. Devon Kuehn, ByHeart’s chief scientific and medical officer.

What we don’t know:

While these results advance the agency’s understanding of the outbreak, the FDA said the findings are not conclusive, and the investigation continues “to determine the source of the contamination.”

Texas Senate Candidate James Talarico Wants to Place a ‘Giant Welcome Mat’ on The Southern Border

Texas Senate candidate James Talarico has said America should put a “giant welcome mat” on its southern border with Mexico.

Talarico is running for the Democrat primary in Texas against the vile Jasmine Crockett.

“My family is from the border,” he said. “My mum grew up in Laredo, Texas.”

“I feel like Texans understand this issue more so than people in other states because we live with it,” he continued. “Both the benefits and the challenges.”

“So what I’ve said is that our southern border should be like our front porch. There should be a giant welcome mat out front and a lock on the door.”

”We can welcome immigrants who want to live the American dream and we can build a pathway to citizenship for those neighbors who have been here making us richer and stronger and we can keep out people who mean to do us harm.”

Maryland Woman Arrested After Going Viral for Hurling Rock Through Family’s Window Under Charlie Kirk Flag, Nearly Hitting Child, Blaming ‘Raccoon’

A Maryland woman has been arrested after being caught on surveillance video throwing a large rock through the front window of a home with a Charlie Kirk flag, just barely missing a child inside.

The woman blamed a “raccoon” for her lack of self-control.

According to a press release from the Takoma Park Police Department, officers responded to a vandalism report last weekend, where the homeowner reported that a woman approached the house on foot, stood on the sidewalk, and hurled a rock at the front window before leaving a note and fleeing.

The story went viral after Libs of TikTok posted the surveillance video and note left by the deranged woman on X.

“I accidentally broke your window. There was a racoon involved. I am so sorry,” she wrote. She signed the note “Jamie” and left her phone number.

Government-Controlled Digital ID is Not the Optional Convenience It Is Being Sold As

The UK government has pledged to introduce a digital ID system for all UK citizens and legal residents by the end of the current Parliament (so no later than 2029). The integration of digital ID into government services, though already under way, has hitherto been largely voluntary. However, it is becoming steadily less optional, as the government has said it will now be required as a precondition for work in the UK, and a version of it (GOV.UK One Login) is already being imposed unilaterally upon company directors throughout the UK.

Chief Secretary to the Prime Minister Darren Jones has suggested in a recent interview (19/11) that digital ID is completely optional and will simply make government services more accessible and convenient. But this is a rather disingenuous sales pitch. On the one hand, Starmer himself insists that digital ID will be required as a precondition to work legally in the UK; on the other hand, like any new technology, there will be a transition period, but voluntariness is unlikely to last forever.

Police launch new cold case probe into one of UK’s longest running unsolved murders – and hope AI will help finally track down killer of nightclubber Melanie Hall, 25, whose body was only found 13 years later

The mystery behind who killed nightclubber Melanie Hall could finally be solved with the help of AI, as police launch a new review of the cold case 30 years on.

Melanie, a 25-year-old clerical worker, was last seen sitting on a stool at the edge of the dancefloor speaking with an unidentified man at Cadillacs nightclub in Bath, on June 9, 1996, at about 1.10am. It was the same night England played Switzerland in the opening match of Euro 96.

Her remains were not found until October 5, 2009, when a workman discovered them 28 miles north from the city, next to a slip road on the M5 near Thornbury, Gloucestershire.

She had suffered a fractured skull, and reportedly had a broken jaw and cheek bone, indicating she had been subjected to a vicious assault. Her body was naked and had been tightly bound in bin bags, secured by thick blue nylon rope.

Three decades on, Melanie’s killer remains on the loose.

Detectives at Avon and Somerset Police announced this week that have launched Operation Denmark, a fresh investigation into the unsolved murder. They remain hopeful Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology could help provide answers for the young woman’s devastated family.

The contents of 90 crates of evidence are currently being digitised, while police have suggested AI could be deployed to analyse the cold case.

Police previously identified around 100 ‘persons of interest’, which has now been pared down to less than 20, while alibis are being re-examined.

All the videos that captured deadly federal agent shooting of Alex Jeffrey Pretti in Minneapolis

The fatal shooting of Minneapolis man Alex Jeffrey Pretti by a federal agent has plunged the city into fresh chaos.

Protesters flooded the streets shortly after the shooting on Saturday as several videos emerged showing his final moments.

Pretti, 37, was gunned down following an altercation with several federal agents just after 9am.

Initial video showed him being wrestled to the ground by officers near 26th Street and Nicollet Avenue before shots rang out.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said that Pretti was armed with a gun containing two magazines. The agency stated that the Border Patrol agent who shot him was acting defensively.

However, the narrative has been queried by other officials, including Governor Tim Walz following a review of the footage.

Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara said the person shot was a US citizen who had a license to carry a gun. So far footage does not appear to show him drawing any weapon although video from the ground is unclear.

A flurry of videos have since emerged as the community grapples the third shooting to involve federal agents in the city in a matter of weeks.

House Vote Keeps Federal “Kill Switch” Vehicle Mandate Despite Privacy Concerns

A Republican attempt to cut off federal funding tied to vehicle “kill switch” enforcement failed in the House this week, leaving intact a law directing the Department of Transportation to develop mandatory impaired-driving prevention systems in new vehicles.

The proposal, led by Representative Thomas Massie of Kentucky, sought to bar the government from spending money to advance or enforce the measure, formally known as Section 24220 of the 2021 Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.

The amendment was added to a broader spending bill, H.R. 7148, but was defeated 268 to 164. According to the House Clerk’s official roll call, 160 Republicans supported it, joined by four Democrats, while 57 Republicans and 211 Democrats voted against it.

Massie’s measure would have “prohibit[ed] the use of funds made available by this Act to implement section 24220 of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, including any requirements enabling or supporting vehicle ‘kill switch’ technology.”

His goal was to block any federal action that could force automakers to install technology capable of monitoring driver behavior and intervening when impairment is detected.

Following the vote, Massie wrote on X: “Unfortunately, the amendment I offered to defund the federally mandated automobile kill switch did not pass. 57 Republicans joined 211 Democrats to defeat it.”

The Kentucky lawmaker has led several efforts on this issue, including the “No Kill Switches in Cars Act” introduced in early 2025, which would “repeal a requirement for the Secretary of Transportation to issue certain regulations with respect to advanced impaired driving technology.”

Although the technology has not yet been required in any vehicle, the 2021 infrastructure law compels the Department of Transportation to develop regulations mandating its use. The legislative text refers broadly to systems that can “prevent or limit motor vehicle operation” if impairment is detected, but it leaves the technical design and privacy boundaries to regulators.

Four Democrats, Representatives J. Luis Correa of California, Val Hoyle of Oregon, Marcy Kaptur of Ohio, and Marie Gluesenkamp Perez of Washington, joined most Republicans in supporting Massie’s amendment. The final tally recorded 164 in favor, 268 against, none present, and four not voting.

Those opposing the amendment argue that the technology could prevent thousands of deaths caused by drunk driving.

US scales down commitments to defend European allies

The US will prioritize its own defense and offer only “limited” support to its allies in Europe, the Pentagon has said.

In the revised National Defense Strategy released on Friday, the US Department of War said European NATO members must play a key role in protecting themselves and providing military aid to Ukraine.

“Although we are and will remain engaged in Europe, we must – and will – prioritize defending the US Homeland and deterring China,” the document reads.

“The Department will therefore incentivize and enable NATO allies to take primary responsibility for Europe’s conventional defense with critical but more limited US support.”

“This includes taking the lead in supporting Ukraine’s defense. As President Trump has said, the war in Ukraine must end. As he has also emphasized, however, this is Europe’s responsibility first and foremost,” the document reads.
