A former commissioner for the US Food and Drug Administration on Sunday described how the CDC’s six-foot social distancing guideline was selected arbitrarily.
Speaking to CBS’s Face the Nation discussing his latest book, Uncontrolled Spread: Why COVID-19 Crushed Us and How We Can Defeat the Next Pandemic, former FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb said the CDC lacked “rigor” in effecting its policies.
“And you write, the six feet was arbitrary?” asked Face the Nation host Margaret Brennan.
“The six feet was arbitrary in and of itself,” Gottlieb answered.
“But if the administration had focused in on that, they might have been able to effect a policy that would have actually achieved their outcome. But that policy making process didn’t exist, and the six feet is a perfect example of sort of the lack of rigor around how CDC made recommendations.”
Gottlieb went on to explain the CDC’s six-foot distancing guideline was recommended with little to no science behind it.
“Nobody knows where it came from. Most people assume that the six feet of distance, the recommendation for keeping six feet apart, comes out of some old studies related to flu, where droplets don’t travel more than six feet. We now know COVID spreads through aerosols. We’ve known that for a while, so how operative is that?”
He also explained the CDC simply revised its original recommendation of 10-foot social distancing after the Trump White House pushed back, arguing that kind of distancing could shut down society.

Singer Alanis Morissette has blown the whistle on how the music industry is literally “run by pedophiles” in an explosive new video.
In a documentary called ‘Jagged,’ which premieres Tuesday at the Toronto International Film Festival, 47-year-old Morissette claims that the entertainment industry is run by elite pedophiles who routinely rape and abuse children.
According to Morissette, she was forced to have sex with multiple men in the entertainment industry when she was just a teenager.
“It took me years in therapy to even admit there had been any kind of victimization on my part,” Morissette said. “I would always say I was consenting, and then I’d be reminded like ‘Hey, you were 15, you’re not consenting at 15.’ Now I’m like, ‘Oh yeah, they’re all pedophiles. It’s all statutory rape.”
Yahoo News reports:According to the Post, Morissette doesn’t name the alleged abusers in the film, but she faults the music industry for ignoring her when she tried to speak up. “I did tell a few people and it kind of fell on deaf ears,” she said. “It would usually be a stand-up, walk-out-of-the-room moment.” She also reportedly says that she frequently experienced unwanted sexual advances.
Researchers have developed a hologram that allows you to reach out and “feel” it — not unlike the holodecks of “Star Trek.”
University of Glasgow scientists have created hologram system that uses jets of air known as “aerohaptics” to replicate the sensation of touch, according to Ravinder Daahiya, a researcher who worked on the project. He said that the air jets can allow you to feel “people’s fingers, hands and wrists.” The team published a paper of their findings in Advanced Intelligent Systems.
“In time, this could be developed to allow you to meet a virtual avatar of a colleague on the other side of the world and really feel their handshake,” he said in his piece for The Conversation. “It could even be the first steps towards building something like a holodeck.”
White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki on Monday was confronted about the Biden Admin’s drone strike that killed 10 Afghan civilians, including 7 children.
Not one “high-level ISIS” terrorist was killed in Biden’s drone strike.
The US military conducted a drone strike one day after a suicide bomber in Kabul killed 13 US service members and wounded 15 more.
The Pentagon immediately came out and claimed the drone strike killed “high-level ISIS handlers,” however they refused to name the terrorists.
It was all lies.
Biden droned 7 children and a few innocent aid workers.
When confronted about these war crimes, Psaki invoked Biden’s dead children.
Biden’s son Beau passed away from Cancer in 2015.
Joe Biden’s first wife and daughter, Naomi died in a car accident in 1972.
“As a human being, as a president, as somebody who has overseen loss in a variety of scenarios… his reaction is — every loss is a tragedy,” Psaki said.
New York Times labeled first lady Jill Biden a “doctor” on Sunday while not giving ophthalmologist Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) the same courtesy.
Paul is a medically licensed ophthalmologist. Jill Biden only possesses a doctor of education (EdD) degree, not a medical degree. But that does not seem to matter to the Times, which published Sunday that “Dr. Biden” is “an English and writing professor who made history”:
Dr. Biden, an English and writing professor who made history as the only first lady to keep her career while in the White House, has traveled to 32 states, many of them conservative, to promote school reopenings, infrastructure funding, community colleges and support for military families. She has also traveled to states where low numbers of eligible people have received the coronavirus vaccine (emphasis added).
On August 11, the Times did not give Sen. Paul the “Dr.” title in an article entitled “YouTube suspends Rand Paul for a week over a video disputing the effectiveness of masks”:
In the video, Mr. Paul says: “Most of the masks you get over the counter don’t work. They don’t prevent infection.” Later in the video, he adds, “Trying to shape human behavior isn’t the same as following the actual science, which tells us that cloth masks don’t work” (emphasis added).
San Francisco mayor London Breed defended herself after being caught maskless at a city jazz club in violation of her city’s own strict ordinance, telling reporters that she “was feeling the spirit” and not thinking about masking, and claiming that San Francisco should not be h “fun police,” even during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Breed was caught, last week, “dancing behind a table full of drinks,” and “not wearing a face covering as she sang and posed for photos,” according to a local ABC affiliate.
“Unmasked, singing, and dancing with an equally unmasked crowd, cell phone video shows Mayor London Breed inside a club in the Tenderloin on Wednesday night,” the outlet noted. “Breed and others enjoyed a surprise performance by Bay Area R&B group, Tony! Toni! Toné!, at the Black Cat on Eddy and Leavenworth Streets. But the maskless moment flies in the face of what [] Mayor Breed has been telling San Franciscans all pandemic long.”
On Monday, Breed blasted back at her critics, claiming that she was following the rules, and also that, in the moment, she was not considering her own mask mandate.
“While I’m eating and drinking I’m going to keep my mask off,” Breed said, though the photo shows her dancing. “And yes, in the time while we’re drinking like everyone else there, we were all having a good time and again all vaccinated.”
Breed will likely know that San Francisco’s mask mandate does not take vaccination status into account. According to the city’s website, individuals “must wear a mask indoors in public places, even if you are vaccinated…You must wear a mask even if you are vaccinated.”
“You should still get vaccinated,” the city’s guidance continues, “because it’s the best way to protect yourself from COVID-19, including the Delta variant.”
Those details, however, are immaterial when you are “feeling the spirit” — at least according to Breed.
