Cory Booker on LA Riots: “We See Peaceful Protests”; Smears Trump Supporters as “Cop Killers” 

Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) appeared on Meet the Press Sunday morning where he called the illegal immigration riots in Los Angeles “peaceful protests” and smeared Trump supporters as “cop killers” over police deaths that occurred after the January 6 Capitol riot.

The only person confirmed to have been killed as a direct result of violence on January 6, 2021, was unarmed Air Force veteran Ashli Babbitt who was shot and killed by Capitol Police Lt. Michael Byrd inside the Capitol.

Booker was interviewed by host Kristen Welker (transcript excerpt):

Welcome back. Joining me now is Democratic senator from New Jersey, Cory Booker. Senator Booker, welcome back to Meet The Press.

Thanks so much. Good morning to you.

KRISTEN WELKER:

Good morning to you. Thank you for being here. I do have to start with President Trump saying he plans to deploy the National Guard to Los Angeles to deal with the protesters there. The president bypassing the governor and federalizing the Guard himself. He says he did so because Governor Gavin Newsom and L.A. Mayor Karen Bass refused to act against the unrest. What is your response to President Trump’s decision to deploy the National Guard?

Look, since years before I was born, law enforcement knows it’s good when there’s cooperation and coordination. For the president to do this when it wasn’t requested, breaking with generations of tradition, is only going to incite the situation and make things worse. We are now at a point where we have a president who sat back and did nothing as people stormed our Capitol, viciously beat police. And then when those people who viciously beat police and led to some of their deaths, therefore, cop killers, were convicted by juries, he then pardoned them all. So for him to be talking to anybody right now about responsive law enforcement to protect people is hypocritical at best.

The reality is we see peaceful protests launching in Los Angeles. And again, any violence against police officers should not be accepted. Local authorities can handle that. But remember, a lot of these peaceful protests are being generated because the president of the United States is sowing chaos and confusion by arresting people who are showing up for their immigration hearings, who are trying to abide by the law. He’s arresting them. You see this in communities that are Republican, Trump supporters being outraged that he’s raiding kitchens and arresting people, high schools and arresting people, who are not what he said he would do, which is focus law enforcement resources on violent criminals and people that are a danger to other Americans.

Trump Federalizes California National Guard as Violent Leftist Mobs Lay Siege to ICE Agents — Bypassing Democrat Governor

After weeks of escalating leftist violence against federal immigration agents that culminated in over 1,000 rioters laying siege to federal buildings and assaulting ICE officers, President Trump took the extraordinary step of federalizing 2,000 California National Guard troops, marking the first time since 1965 that a president has activated a state’s National Guard without the governor’s consent.

Using rarely invoked federal powers under 10 U.S.C. 12406, Trump bypassed the authority of California’s Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom after violent mobs launched coordinated attacks on ICE agents and laid siege to federal buildings across the state.

The president’s directive cites a specific provision within Title 10 of the U.S. Code that allows federal deployment of National Guard forces when “there is a rebellion or danger of a rebellion against the authority of the Government of the United States.”

Trump’s order states that “to the extent that protests or acts of violence directly inhibit the execution of the laws, they constitute a form of rebellion against the authority of the Government of the United States.”

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced that the Pentagon was “mobilizing the National Guard IMMEDIATELY” and revealed that active-duty Marines at Camp Pendleton, about 100 miles south of Los Angeles, were “on high alert” and could also be mobilized.

Trump’s directive specifically authorized Hegseth to “employ any other members of the regular Armed Forces as necessary to augment and support the protection of Federal functions and property,” indicating the administration is prepared to use whatever force necessary to restore federal authority.

The violent confrontations have spread beyond Los Angeles, with Minneapolis seeing protesters throw traffic cones and trash cans at federal law enforcement vehicles during an ICE operation at Las Cuatro Milpas restaurant.

The area, which was previously the site of violent riots following George Floyd’s death of a fentanyl overdose, again became a flashpoint as demonstrators physically obstructed federal vehicles and shouted at officers to “go home” and “quit their jobs.”

Minneapolis City Council Member Jason Chavez joined the violent protesters, declaring the federal operation “completely wrong” and criticizing local police for assisting ICE agents in their lawful duties.

FBI Whistleblower Slams Promotion of FBI J6 Warlord

FBI whistleblower Steve Friend, who exposed the corruption and bias in the agency’s Jan. 6 investigation, spoke out on the promotion of one of the officials responsible for that corruption in exclusive comments to PJ Media.

Many Jan. 6 protestors were not only arrested and jailed but subject to rigged trials, long periods of solitary confinement, months or years of prison without trial, let alone conviction, and even physical abuse. The FBI was a major part of that persecution, and yet Steven Jensen, its self-described J6 architect, was just promoted to head the Washington Field Office. 

Jensen even bragged to Congress about his key role in orchestrating what we now know was a politically charged and highly biased campaign against Jan. 6 protestors, most of whom were peaceful and all of whom were treated as guilty even if proven innocent. Jensen also reportedly oversaw the FBI spying upon parents who attended school board meetings and traditional Catholics.

Friend explained, “Steven Jensen described himself to Congress as the architect of the FBI’s weaponized response to January 6th. His promotion to lead the Washington Field Office is like putting a fox in charge of the henhouse.” He added, “If personnel is policy, the FBI is on a troubling path.”

Friend, who is now a podcaster and best-selling author, lost his FBI job and found himself the target of outrageous federal persecution after he respectfully challenged his superiors on the unconstitutional, illegal, rigged campaign against Jan. 6-ers. Thus, he saw from the inside how disturbing Jensen and co.’s actions were. Friend’s fellow FBI whistleblower Kyle Seraphin noted that Jensen was exposed as a “2021 January 6th hysteric” in congressional testimony. “Jensen was the Section Chief of the Domestic Terrorism Operations Section which fixated on J6 and ran 2x DAILY calls about J6 to cops across the country,” Seraphin declared. This is a major personnel failure for FBI Director Kash Patel.

Annette later went public about the raid, “The FBI instructed Chris to come outside immediately. Our 4-year-old was awakened from the chaos, and I picked him up and ran downstairs to open the front door. Our house, street and neighboring streets were completely surrounded by armed FBI and law enforcement. It was a scene that we see so many times in the movies, but now it was here at my house! There were three large armored tactical vehicles parked on my front, side and back yard, and police vehicles that extended throughout the entire community. I open the door, and for a second, I didn’t realize that there were about twenty FBI SWAT Team members with semi-automatic rifles pointed at my son and I. We were covered by the bright red lasers pointed at our faces, chests, and various points on our bodies.”

Ed Martin Reveals J6 Pipe Bomber Probe Shakeup, Warns DOJ ‘Much, Much Worse Than People Think’

Ed Martin, a senior official in the Trump administration’s Department of Justice, is warning that corruption within federal law enforcement is far more severe than the American public realizes. Martin, who holds the roles of Director of the Weaponization Working Group, Associate Deputy Attorney General, and Pardon Attorney, made the comments during an interview with Tucker Carlson.

Martin weighed in the unresolved case of the January 6, 2021, pipe bomber, expressing frustration with the investigation’s lack of progress, wondering whether the lack of answers may have been intentional. “The pipe bomber—as a prosecutor – I’ve got the pipe bomber case in my office,” Martin told Carlson. Martin revealed FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino told him that the bureau had reassigned agents to the case, however, the renewed effort was still in it early stages. “It’s been going on for five weeks?” Martin said, likening the past probe to the bumbling “Keystone Cops.”

Minnesota Governor and National Guard Begin Preparing for Riots Over Possible Derek Chauvin Pardon

Gov. Tim Walz, the Minnesota National Guard, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, and Hennepin County Sheriff Dawanna Witt have reportedly all been briefed on preparations for potential riots if former police officer Derek Chauvin is granted a presidential pardon.

Chauvin, of course, was the officer filmed kneeling on drug addict George Floyd during his fatal interaction with police. His death caused nationwide deadly Black Lives Matter riots throughout the summer of 2020.

According to a report from local station KSTP, “Multiple sources told 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS that Gov. Tim Walz, the Minnesota National Guard, Mayor Jacob Frey and Hennepin County Sheriff Dawanna Witt have all been briefed on preparations for possible civil unrest if President Donald Trump pardons former Minneapolis Police Officer Derek Chauvin for his federal conviction of killing George Floyd.”

“Sources also told KSTP the Minnesota Department of Corrections is ready to pick up Chauvin at a federal penitentiary in Arizona, and bring him back to Oak Park Heights Prison in Minnesota to serve the remainder of his 22-and-a-half-year sentence,” the report added.

However, antifa-supporting Attorney General Keith Ellison told MSNBC over the weekend that Chauvin will not be released.

“He still owes Minnesota 22-and-a-half years. And, he’s going to do it either in Minnesota or somewhere, but he’s not getting out,” Ellison asserted.

On Monday, Gov. Walz told the media, “No indication whether they’re going to do it, but I think it behooves us to be prepared for it. With this presidency, it seems like something they would do.”

The former officer is currently serving two state and federal 21-year sentences for violating Floyd’s civil rights and second-degree murder.

Chauvin was stabbed 22 times by fellow inmate John Turscak at the medium-security Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) in Tucson, Arizona, in 2023.

President Donald Trump has not publicly indicated if he is considering pardoning Chauvin.

Previously Unreleased Document Exposes Government’s False Insurrection Narrative: Only 56 Officers Reported Minor Injuries on January 6

In a new development in the ongoing battle for transparency surrounding the Government’s unprecedented lawfare against January 6 defendants, J6er Ryan Zink and his attorney, Roger Roots, have filed an opposition (Document 155, filed April 21, 2025) to the government’s attempt to conceal critical evidence from the public.

This filing, submitted in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, follows Zink’s recent victory in lifting a protective order on January 6 discovery materials and the government’s subsequent push to reverse that decision. The latest filing reveals a previously unreleased document, marked “highly sensitive” by the government, which lists the injuries reported by Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) officers on January 6.

The document shatters the government’s narrative of a violent “insurrection,” exposing it as a deliberate lie designed to smear President Donald Trump and interfere in the 2024 election.

The “highly sensitive” document, included as part of Zink and Roots’ filing, details that only 56 MPD officers reported injuries related to the January 6 protest.

Far from the catastrophic “attack” on law enforcement peddled by the Department of Justice (DOJ), the injuries listed are often trivial, with many described simply as “pain” in various parts of the body. Examples include a “laceration to the pinky finger,” and nebulous, nondescriptive reports of “back pain” and “head pain.”

Only 18 officers were treated at a hospital, with just one—Officer Michael Fanone—remaining admitted for what the government has exaggerated as “serious injuries.” Notably, the filing highlights that Fanone’s own bodycam footage contradicts his claims of suffering a heart attack or traumatic brain injury, showing him stating he was “O.K.” and engaging in lighthearted conversations with colleagues.

Senators Demand Obama-Era Inspector General’s Cooperation In Probe Of J6 Undercover Agents

Two prominent senators sent a letter this week to Inspector General Michael Horowitz, pressing him to fully cooperate with their investigation of undercover “confidential human sources” in the crowd at the U.S. Capitol building on Jan. 6, 2021.

Horowitz, who was appointed by former President Barack Obama in 2012, has failed to respond to requests for information about confidential human sources on Jan. 6, according to Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., chairman of the Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, and Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee.

They sent Horowitz a letter on Dec. 16, seeking more information about his Dec. 12 report on how the FBI handled its confidential human sources in advance of J6.

That report showed the FBI sent 26 confidential human sources to Washington, D.C. that day, and of those, four entered the Capitol and 13 went into a restricted area. Three sources were “tasked by their respective FBI handlers to report on individuals traveling to Washington, D.C. for the J6 event,” the senators wrote in their most recent letter. “While the report stated that ‘[n]one of these three [confidential human sources] were authorized by the FBI to engage in illegal activity, including to enter the Capitol or a restricted area, or to otherwise break the law on January 6’ two of the FBI sources entered the restricted area around the Capitol and one entered the Capitol.”

None of the FBI sources were prosecuted for their activities on J6.

It is worth noting that the Office of Inspector General and the FBI are part of the Department of Justice (DOJ).

The senators have had questions about what other DOJ arms were involved in J6.

In his April 7 letter, Horowitz said the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF); the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA); the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS); and the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP); did not have any “undercover employees” in connection with the J6.

The senators bristled at the new language.

“Although this part of your response seems conclusive, it does not completely satisfy our inquiry. On February 28, 2025, our staff noted in an email to your Counselor that because the term ‘undercover agent’ can mean many things, our offices requested that the DOJ OIG address whether any federal law enforcement components, including FBI, ATF, DEA, USMS, or BOP, had employees or contractors wearing civilian clothing in the Washington D.C. area; at the Capitol Building; and in restricted areas on J6 in an official or unofficial capacity. We reiterate this specific request.”

The senators also want more detail on confidential human sources who were “tasked” (had an assignment)  and “untasked” (traveled to Capitol on their own initiative).

Congressman sues gov’t over post-J6 Capitol Police actions

A congressman from Texas is suing the federal government for $2.5 million over the “unlawful harassment” he faced following the Jan. 6, 2021, protests and riots at the Capitol.

Rep Troy Nehls, R-Texas, charges that a Capitol police officer forced his way into Nehls’ congressional office without consent, then photographed materials in the room, including a whiteboard with a discussion of proposed firearms legislation.

Then the authorities followed up with an investigation by other officers.

Significant is the claim that the police violated the Speech and Debate Clause of the U.S. Constitution, which provides vast protections for members of Congress doing their duties.

The first count charges “intrusion on privacy,” for the entry of the officer into the congressman’s private office and taking pictures.
