Patel says FBI investigating ‘possibility of accomplices’ in Kirk shooting

During Charlie Kirk’s memorial service on Sunday, FBI Director Kash Patel posted an update on the investigation of Kirk’s assassination, saying the FBI is “pursuing every lead.”

Tyler Robinson, 22, was arrested and charged with Kirk’s murder, but Patel said the FBI is looking into the “possibility of accomplices.”

“We are meticulously investigating theories and questions, including the location from where the shot was taken, the possibility of accomplices, the text message confession and related conversations, Discord chats, the angle of the shot and bullet impact, how the weapon was transported, hand gestures observed as potential ‘signals’ near Charlie at the time of his assassination, and visitors to the alleged shooter’s residence in the hours and days leading up to September 10, 2025,” Patel said in a post on X.

AOC Becomes De Facto House Minority Leader

Before last Friday’s House vote on a symbolic resolution condemning the assassination of Charlie Kirk and all forms of political violence while honoring his life, the purported leaders of the Democratic Caucus informed its members that they would support the measure. Yet, in a truly vile floor speech prior to the vote, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y) called the resolution “reckless” and claimed Kirk’s “rhetoric and beliefs were ignorant, uneducated, and sought to disenfranchise millions of Americans.” In the end, less than half of the Democrats voted for the resolution. The rest stood with AOC.

This atrocity occurred after Democrat Leader Hakeem Jeffries, Whip Katherine Clark and Caucus Chair Pete Aguilar released the following statement: “We will vote yes on H.Res.719 which is on the floor today … Political violence against anyone for any reason at any time is not acceptable.” This moved only 95 Democrats to vote for the resolution. As for the rest, 58 voted “Nay,” 38 voted “present” and 22 didn’t bother to vote. The resolution passed because 215 Republicans votes took the total “Yeas” to 310. What does this say about the Democrats? AOC holds greater sway over their caucus than its elected leader.

The far left faction of the Democrat House Caucus has metastasized dramatically. Just a few years ago, it was a small, obnoxious minority. Now, it constitutes the majority. Contrast Friday’s disgraceful vote to the vote on H.Res.519 last June. That resolution condemned the murder of Minnesota state legislator Melissa Hortman and purported to “reaffirm our commitment to a safe, civil, and peaceful democracy.” The measure passed unanimously. Yet, somehow, the Democrat commitment to a safe, civil, and peaceful democracy is not quite strong enough to protect Charlie Kirk from being posthumously slandered by Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.):

What I find jarring is that there’s so many people willing to excuse the most reprehensible things that he said, that they agree with that, that they’re willing to have monuments for him, that they want to create a day to honor him, and that they want to produce resolutions … I am not going to sit here and be judged for not wanting to honor any legacy this man has left behind, that should be in the dustbin of history, and we should hopefully move on and forget the hate that he spewed every single day.

The above diatribe was Omar’s response to a question from CNN’s Kaitlin Collins about the well-deserved criticism she has received for comparing Charlie Kirk to “Dr. Frankenstein” and extending the moronic metaphor by saying, “His monster shot him through the neck.” This was, of course, a classic case of “victim blaming” and she is clearly unrepentant. Omar and AOC are typical of the far left ideologues who now dominate the Democrat Caucus in the House. Another example is Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.), who presided over the House investigation of the J6 “insurrection.” Below is an excerpt from his statement about the Charlie Kirk resolution:

Charlie Kirk’s rhetoric was divisive, disparaging, and too often rooted in grievance. The beliefs he evangelized normalized fringe views on race, sex, and immigration. Unfortunately, his rhetoric resurrected dangerous prejudices of a dark past … I cannot in good conscience honor someone who demeaned women, immigrants, and Black Americans, and who even questioned the very foundation of civil rights progress in this country. This resolution is intentionally written to be divisive.

Like the outrageous claims made by AOC and Omar, Johnson’s assertions about Charlie Kirk’s rhetoric and motives are pure fiction. That he is willing to say such things about a young man who was so recently murdered is utterly reprehensible. More important than such repugnant smears, however, is the very real possibility that the Democrats could win a majority in the House of Representatives in the 2026 midterms. Because far left demagogues like AOC, Omar, and Johnson now dominate the Democrat Caucus, this is genuinely terrifying. The improbable lesson these people have “learned” from their 2024 defeat is that they need to move to the left.

Texas A&M University President Resigns After Radical Gender Ideology Pushed in Classroom

Texas A&M University President Mark Welsh has resigned amid fallout over a viral classroom video that resulted in a professor kicking a student out of class after an argument about gender identity.

Chancellor Glenn Hegar and the Texas A&M University System Board of Regents announced that University President Mark Welsh will step down from his role on Friday.

Welsh’s resignation arrives at the heels of Texas A&M removing two officials after a student and professor were heard arguing about radical gender ideology in a viral video, which ended with the student getting kicked out of the classroom by the professor.

“WE DID IT! TEXAS A&M PRESIDENT IS OUT!” Texas State Rep. Brian Harrison (R-District 10) said in a Thursday X post. “Another MASSIVE victory for the LIBERTY BOTS against the Austin Swamp Rats!”

Indicted House Democrat BUSTED for Dirty Money—AGAIN

In South Texas, a growing scandal involving indicted Congressman Henry Cuellar is exposing just how deep the rot runs in America’s political institutions—and how little Democrats or the media care about election integrity.

Cuellar, who represents Texas’s 28th Congressional District, is under federal indictment for accepting more than $600,000 in foreign bribes from a Mexican bank and a state-run oil company in Azerbaijan.

Prosecutors allege that Cuellar and his wife personally profited from years of secret deals, using their public positions to advance the interests of foreign entities.

Adding to the gravity, three of Cuellar’s top aides are now cooperating with the Department of Justice.

Yet despite facing trial, Cuellar was not removed from the 2024 ballot.

Instead, he ran for re-election and supposedly defeated Republican challenger Jay Furman in a district Donald Trump carried by seven points.

Somehow, Cuellar won by five points—a shocking 12-point swing.

Furman submitted more than 80 affidavits from voters who said his name was missing from their ballots.

The Texas Fourth Court of Appeals ordered a forensic review and instructed Webb County Judge Tano Tijerina to conduct it “immediately.”

Judge Tijerina refused.

The situation quickly escalated from suspicious to outrageous. After blocking the ballot inspection, Judge Tijerina announced his own planned campaign for Congress—entering the same race he had just helped suppress.

In any functioning democracy, such a conflict of interest would end careers. In South Texas, it simply became another chapter in a growing scandal.

Financial records make the picture worse.

She’s Turning on Everyone: Cackling Kamala Harris to Publish Private Messages Showing Gavin Newsom Snubbed Her Endorsement

Kamala Harris is now “social distancing” from the Democrat Party—a peculiar strategy Harris will unleash Tuesday, September 23, in the form of her 2024 presidential campaign memoir, 107 Days.

The Gateway Pundit reported that, in excerpts from 107 Days, Harris refers to White House staff as being “hypnotized” during Joe Biden’s ill-fated 2024 presidential run.

“‘It’s Joe and Jill’s decision.’ We all said, like a mantra, as if we’d all been hypnotized. Was it grace, or was it recklessness? In retrospect, I think it was recklessness. The stakes were simply too high,” Harris wrote.

Harris further unloaded on Biden for intimidating her during a phone call just before she was defeated by President Trump in a pivotal September 2024 debate. Per Harris, Biden told her:

“My brother called. He’s been talking to a group of real power brokers in Philly.”

Harris continued:

“His brother told him that those guys were not going to support me because I’d been saying bad things about him… [He] made it all about himself, distracting me with worry about hostile power-brokers in the biggest city of the most important state.”

In 107 Days, Harris also confesses that she lied to the American people regarding Biden’s failing health, and she demeans her running mate Tim Walz, along with Pete Buttigieg and Gavin Newsom.

Harris grotesquely implies she only selected Tim Walz as her running mate over Pete Buttigieg because Walz was a “straight white man.”

“[Buttigieg] would have been an ideal partner—if he were a straight white man,” Harris wrote. “But we were already asking a lot of America: to accept a Black woman, married to a Jewish man.”

Inadvertently, Harris’s comment underscores everything rotten about identity politics. By outwardly assuming elections can be swayed by the homophobia of swing state voters, Harris herself commits the truly homophobic act of denying Buttigieg, against her better judgment—only later to insult Buttigieg, Walz, gay Americans, and everyday Americans.

As Harris today implements her shocking scorched-earth political strategy against the Democrat Party, Real Clear Politics finds her polling 16 points below Gavin Newsom for the 2028 Democrat Party presidential nomination.

Hilariously, a new Politico report reveals that, according to 107 Days, Gavin Newsom brushed off Harris’s immediate request for an endorsement with the words: “Hiking. Will call back.”

According to Harris’s notes: “He never did.”

Nancy Pelosi 2.0? Ilhan Omar Gained MILLIONS In Power

Ilhan Omar has built a reputation as one of the most controversial members of Congress.

But while her political career has grabbed headlines, the story of her husband, Tim Mynett, deserves far more attention.

Since marrying Omar in 2020, Mynett has seen his career and wealth skyrocket in ways that look eerily familiar to the questionable financial gains of other powerful Democrats, most notably Nancy Pelosi’s husband.

Mynett first entered the spotlight as a political consultant with E Street Group.

Federal Election Commission filings later revealed that Omar’s campaign had funneled nearly $600,000 to Mynett or his firm between 2018 and 2020.

This arrangement raised obvious ethical concerns, but Washington dismissed them as if nothing unusual had happened.

Months later, Omar and Mynett married. By then, his firm had already cashed in on lucrative contracts thanks to her campaign.

Fast-forward to today, and Mynett has reinvented himself as the founder of Rose Lake Capital, a private investment firm that has raised more than $100 million over the years.

According to his own biography, he has built relationships in some of the most “innovative political campaigns” of the past decade and claims to have brought “substantial change to the corridors of power.”

In other words, Mynett has leveraged his political connections to accumulate influence and wealth.

Conveniently, his most crucial tie happens to be his wife, one of the most polarizing lawmakers in America.

Meanwhile, Omar’s reported net worth has exploded.

China’s internet ID push signals a new era of digital control

On July 15, China passed new legislation known as the National Network Identity Authentication, also called Internet ID.

Under this new law, Chinese citizens would voluntarily enroll via a government app, submitting their true name and a facial scan, after which they would be issued a unique ID code used for all online accounts. As of May, approximately 6 million individuals had already obtained IDs during the pilot phase.

Based upon the nature of the control the Chinese Communist Party has over media and censorship, it is not surprising the Chinese government desires the ability to track its population during their internet sessions, especially those citizens who would be critical of the current regime or dissidents that are living outside mainland China.

The new Internet ID law expands on an ongoing digital authoritarianism agenda pursued by China in recent years. Already, the Chinese government has demonstrated its growing capacity and willingness to monitor its citizens’ online activities.

From the widespread usage of internet backbone filtering through the “Great Firewall” to the mandatory real-name registration implemented since 2010, Beijing has increasingly restricted avenues for anonymous speech online. The new ID system is designed to further tighten the government’s grip on cyberspace at an individual level.

This law would enable the Chinese government, enabled by the new digital ID system, to centralize user identities in a government-controlled database, allowing authorities to track which user fronts which online account, even if platforms only see the anonymized token.

This approach applies nation-state censorship in a more individualized way and introduces the possibility that content may be filtered or platforms blocked for certain users, both within China, where the government manages internet access, and potentially on a broader scale.

It could allow the Chinese government to use filters and blocking mechanisms within a platform to limit access to certain services associated with a personalized digital ID for specific individuals.

While the legislation claims to be voluntary at launch, many fear that adoption could gradually become mandatory. In China’s regulatory environment, the “voluntary” label has frequently functioned as a transitional stage before compulsory enforcement.

Authorities have encouraged social media giants, e-commerce platforms and even payment providers to begin integrating the Internet ID into their user authentication flows. If access to essential digital services becomes dependent on possession of this ID, individuals may find their ability to function online is effectively contingent upon submitting their biometric and personal data to the state.

This law is just the next step in China’s desire for digital authoritarianism, enhancing the government’s ability to surveil, monitor, shape and control a population down to the individual citizen level.

“Hate Speech” Isn’t Real and Pam Bondi Is an Enemy of Freedom

Following the murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, many critics of Kirk posted content on social media in which they said rude things about Kirk—and even about his family members—while expressing delight about Kirk’s death.  Not surprisingly, many of Kirk’s supporters—and many other ordinary people—found these comments offensive and reprehensible.

Perhaps as part of an effort to exploit the situation to improve her own political fortunes, US Attorney General Pam Bondi then declared that she, a government prosecutor, will “go after” those who engage in what she called “hate speech.”

“Hate speech,” however, does not exist. At all. That’s a phrase the Left invented to define speech the Left doesn’t like as outside the legal protections of Bill of Rights. Put another way, the concept of “hate speech” was invented to justify state-enforced censorship of speech. That Bondi buys into this nonsense is made clear by Bondi’s pledge to “go after” people who are guilty of this hate-speech “crime” that Bondi apparently imagines in her head.

These comments, coming from a sitting Attorney General, are extremely problematic, to say the least. The very fact that Bondi unironically uses the term “hate speech” illustrates how deeply immersed she is in the culture of coercion and despotism that permeates the Washington ruling class. Any politician who promotes the concept of “hate speech” should be considered an enemy of our most fundamental natural rights, and his or her political career deserves to be ended permanently.

There Is No Such Thing as Hate Speech

Bondi’s dangerous comments on so-called hate speech came as part of her Monday appearance on the Katie Miller podcast. When asked by the host if colleges and universities are somehow complicit in Kirk’s murder, Bondi agreed and stated:

on a broader level, the anti-Semitism—what’s been happening at college campuses around this country— it’s disgusting, it’s despicable and we’ve been fighting that, we’ve been fighting these universities left and right and that’s not going to stop.  There’s free speech and then there’s hate speech, and there is no place, especially now, especially after what happened to Charlie, in our society …. We will absolutely target you, go after you, if you are targeting anyone with hate speech.

91-Year-Old Pennsylvania Woman With Dementia Loses $247,000 Home Over a $14,000 Tax Debt

In yet another example of what is colloquially known as home equity theft, a 91-year-old Pennsylvania woman has lost her home—and all of its worth—over a small tax debt. But the case just outside of Philadelphia is a particularly vivid illustration of a predatory and gruesome practice that the Supreme Court broadly ruled unconstitutional in 2023.

In 2020, Gloria Gaynor (not the disco queen) forewent her yearly trip to the tax office during COVID-19, recounted Jackie Davis, her daughter, to the local ABC affiliate for its excellent report on the story. Gaynor’s faculties noticeably declined around then, according to Davis. Even still, the Upper Darby resident returned in 2021 to pay her property taxes, her attorney said, under the impression that the pause in enforcement meant the government would apply her money toward the previous year. Instead, it went to 2021, and her debt from 2020 remained intact.

As these things go, it continued to grow. Her $3,500 bill ultimately reached $14,419 with penalties, interest, and fees. The government sold that debt to a real estate firm, the CJD Group, which then acquired the deed to the home.

The rub is that the home is worth over 17 times that. Yet Gaynor—who had nearly paid off the mortgage—will not see a dime in equity, despite that she owed the government $232,000 less than what the home is ultimately worth.

Regular Reason readers may be familiar with Tyler v. Hennepin County, the 2023 Supreme Court case that ruled home equity theft illegal. The plaintiff, 94-year-old Geraldine Tyler, fell behind on her property taxes after some unsettling neighborhood incidents prompted her move from her Minneapolis condominium to a retirement home. She subsequently struggled to pay both her rent and her property taxes. So the local government seized the condo, sold it for $40,000, and kept the $25,000 in excess of her tax debt, which included steep penalties, interest, and fees.

“A taxpayer who loses her $40,000 house to the State to fulfill a $15,000 tax debt has made a far greater contribution to the public fisc than she owed,” wrote Chief Justice John Roberts. “The taxpayer must render unto Caesar what is Caesar’s, but no more.”

It was a good decision. But Gaynor’s plight highlights one way governments are getting around it: by selling properties for the value of the debt—instead of putting it on the market or selling it at auction—so that there is no excess equity to speak of.

That doesn’t mean, of course, the equity doesn’t exist. It does. It is just now in the hands of a private company, as opposed to the elderly woman who spent the last 25 or so years paying off the mortgage, and nearly finishing.

Netanyahu Fumes as UK, Canada, Australia, and Portugal Announce Recognition of Palestinian State

The UK, Australia, Canada, and Portugal all announced on Sunday their formal recognition of a Palestinian state, a step that comes a day before the opening of the UN General Assembly in New York.

“Today, to revive the hope of peace for the Palestinians and Israelis, and a two-state solution, the United Kingdom formally recognises the State of Palestine,” British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said in a post on X.

In response to the announcements, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed that there would never be a Palestinian state and bragged about his work over the years to prevent one.

“It’s not going to happen. There will be no Palestinian state to the west of the Jordan River,” Netanyahu said. “For years, I have prevented the creation of that terror state, against tremendous pressure, both domestic and from abroad.

The Israeli leader also said Israel would continue expanding Jewish settlements in the Israeli-occupied West Bank. “Moreover, we have doubled the Jewish settlement in Judea and Samaria, and we will continue on this path,” he said.

The Trump administration has discouraged its allies from recognizing a Palestinian state and has banned Palestinian Authority officials from attending the General Assembly. Trump has previously threatened a trade deal with Canada over its plans to recognize Palestine.

Netanyahu said that he will announce his response to the Western countries recognizing Palestine after he returns from the US. The Israeli leader will attend the General Assembly in New York and is expected to travel to Washington for his fourth White House visit of the year.

Netanyahu and his government are considering annexing parts of the West Bank, and some Israeli officials called for the Israeli prime minister to take the step after the UK’s announcement.

“The days when Britain and other countries determined our future are over, the mandate has ended, and the only response to the anti-Israeli move is sovereignty over the homeland of the Jewish people in Judea and Samaria, and the removal of the foolish idea of a Palestinian state from the agenda forever,” Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich wrote on X. “Mr. Prime Minister, this is the time, and it is in your hands.”
