5 tampered with absentee ballots in Connecticut’s largest city, authorities say

Five people including prominent Democratic political operatives in Connecticut’s largest city were arrested Friday on allegations of absentee ballot tampering during a 2023 local election, including accusations that led to a court-ordered rerun of a mayoral election and helped fuel skepticism about voting security in the U.S.

The charges generally allege that the defendants in the Bridgeport case illegally possessed absentee ballots of others, were illegally present when voters filled in their ballots and misrepresented absentee ballot rules to voters. Complaints previously filed with state elections enforcement officials said some voters were pressured into picking certain candidates when they filled out their ballots.

Among those arrested were Bridgeport Democratic Town Committee Vice Chairperson Wanda Geter-Pataky, and Bridgeport Democratic City Council Members Alfredo Castillo, Maria Pereira and Jazmarie Melendez, according to the chief state’s attorney’s office. A Stratford woman was also arrested but contact information for her could not be found and it’s unclear if she has an attorney who can speak on her behalf.

Geter-Pataky and Castillo were previously charged with similar absentee ballot crimes connected to the 2019 election.

Chinese Student Who Voted in 2024 Elections Illegally Flees From United States

A Chinese national residing in the United States who was charged with voting illegally in the 2024 U.S. general elections has fled the country, federal authorities said on Friday.

The individual—a student at the University of Michigan—had registered to vote in Michigan on Oct. 27, the office of Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson told The Epoch Times in October. He established residency in Ann Arbor by utilizing student identification and other documents while also signing a document claiming to have U.S. citizenship.

The student had surrendered his Chinese passport in November and was told not to leave Michigan. But he traveled to China from Detroit in January by showing another passport, the FBI said in a court filing.

An arrest warrant was issued in April after he failed to appear at two court hearings in Ann Arbor. He was facing charges of perjury and attempting to vote as an unauthorized elector, a felony.

He now faces a federal charge, though the United States does not have an extradition treaty with China.

After casting his vote, the student had contacted the city clerk’s office to retract the illegal vote, according to Benson’s office. By this time, the vote had already been processed through the tabulator.

Mississippi GOP Asks Cops To Investigate Potential ‘Vote Buying’ Schemes

The Mississippi Republican Party (MSGOP) is asking state and local law enforcement to investigate what it claims are potential vote-buying schemes ahead of upcoming municipal elections next month.

On Wednesday, MSGOP Chair Mike Hurst sent a letter to Mississippi Attorney General Lynn Fitch and Gulfport District Attorney W. Crosby Parker containing allegations of unlawful attempts to reward Gulfport residents for voting in the city’s June 3 elections. Specifically, Hurst alleged that “certain individuals, groups and campaigns appear to be directly and blatantly” violating state law that prohibits “any person [from offering] money or anything of substantial value to anyone for his vote.”

Individuals convicted for such actions “shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction shall be fined not less than Fifty Dollars ($50.00) nor more than Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00), or imprisoned not more than six (6) months, or both,” according to the Mississippi Code.

Hurst claimed that on Monday evening, he was “made aware of at least two recent instances of what appear to be violations of the above statute.”

One of the alleged incidents flagged in the letter involves the purported distribution of “Souls to Polls Food Vouchers” by “certain individuals” in front of Gulfport City Hall, which Hurst noted is “where absentee voting in municipal elections are occurring.” According to the chairman, “These vouchers contain a picture of a ballot box with the word ‘vote’ on the front, specifically offering a ‘special prepared meal’ at a local Gulfport restaurant and are being handed out in front of Gulfport City Hall specifically after someone casts an absentee vote in the Gulfport municipal elections.”

“You will notice that these vouchers state that such meals are available ‘now through June 3’ —election day. A specific sign at that local Gulfport restaurant confirms the validity of the ‘Souls to the Polls’ vouchers and the specific exchange of things of value for votes,” wrote Hurst, who included photos of the alleged vouchers and restaurant sign in the letter (emphasis original).

The MSGOP chair also cited video footage — which The Federalist obtained — of what appears to be a woman sitting in a car handing out said vouchers to three individuals. Hurst claimed that this occurred “directly in front of Gulfport City Hall during operating hours of the City Clerk’s office, while absentee voting is occurring,” and that, “In one instance, when a woman handing out these vouchers was confronted by someone, she lied, first saying she didn’t know what the person was talking about, then saying she was simply watching voters for the Gulfport Democrat mayoral candidate.”

“Finally, the woman threatened the person asking questions by stating: ‘Don’t you be starting nothing!’” Hurst added.

The second alleged incident flagged by Hurst purportedly happened on Saturday, when “groups, individuals and even the Gulfport Democrat mayoral candidate’s campaign was sharing [a] flyer … entitled ‘Vote & Vibe Day Party,’ encouraging people to ‘meet at city hall 10 am’ where they would ‘vote together’ and then would ‘get your wristband after voting.’” The party chair claimed, “They were then invited to a local restaurant for free brunch by simply ‘show[ing] your wristband.’”

The letter links to social media posts by Democrat mayoral candidate Sonya Williams-Barnes sharing the flyer and touting the event to her Facebook followers. Williams-Barnes will face off against Republican Hugh Keating in the city’s June 3 elections.

Trump rolls out new tool to stop noncitizens from ‘hijacking’ U.S. elections

The Trump administration is unrolling a new initiative Thursday that will help prevent noncitizens from voting in U.S. elections, a high-priority policy for the White House.

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) is updating the Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) program and partnering with the Social Security Administration in order to ensure “a single, reliable source for verifying immigration status and U.S. citizenship,” according to a memo exclusively shared with the Daily Caller News Foundation. Under the update, state and local officials will be able to input Social Security numbers for verification of U.S. citizenship and thereby prevent foreign nationals from voting in American elections.

“For years, states have pleaded for tools to help identify and stop aliens from hijacking our elections,” USCIS Spokesman Matthew Tragesser said in a statement provided to the DCNF.

“Under the leadership of President Trump and Secretary Noem, USCIS is moving quickly to eliminate voter fraud,” Tragesser continued. “We expect further improvements soon and remain committed to restoring trust in American elections.”

SAVE, an online service administered by USCIS, allows various government agencies to verify the immigration status or U.S. naturalization of applicants seeking benefits or licenses.

The new partnership allows government agencies to create cases in SAVE using an applicant’s Social Security number rather than a Department of Homeland Security identifying number, which is not collected by a majority of state and local agencies, according to a separate news release. Additionally, agencies for the first time will be able to submit more than one case at a time, streamlining the process.

Polling indicates that basic voter protection regulations, such as requiring a photo ID to vote and providing proof of citizenship when registering to vote for the first time, are incredibly popular among Americans.

Colombian woman charged with illegally voting in 2024 election stealing $400,000 in taxpayer funded benefits

A Colombian woman living illegally in the United States lived under a stolen identity for more than two decades, improperly received more than $400,000 in stolen federal benefits, and illegally voted in the 2024 presidential election, federal prosecutors said Thursday. 

Lina Maria Orovio-Hernandez, 59, also obtained welfare benefits, a REAL ID and eight other state ID’s, the Justice Department said. 

Orovio-Hernandez allegedly used the stolen identity to submit a fraudulent voter registration in January 2023, and cast a ballot in last year’s presidential election, prosecutors said. She was captured on surveillance camera at a bank wearing an “I voted” sticker on Nov. 5, 2024, Election Day, according to court documents. 

She is charged with false representation of a Social Security number; making a false statement in an application for a United States passport; aggravated identity theft; receiving stolen government money or property; fraudulent voter registration; and fraudulent voting. Orovio-Hernandez has been held in federal custody since February, when she was charged with identity theft and other offenses.

DOGE Official Says They’ve Found Illegal Immigrants Who Have Voted in US Elections

A member of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) said in an interview this week that the task force has discovered illegal immigrants who have voted in U.S. elections.

“We have found [illegal immigrants] who actually voted … we already had three arrests in Florida and one indictment,” DOGE official Antonio Gracias, an investor who is worth about $2.2 billion and who also founded Valor Equity Partners, said on the podcast “All-In.”

Earlier this year, Gracias was tapped by DOGE and tech billionaire Elon Musk to look into Social Security records and other government data, Musk said in an event last month alongside Gracias. Musk currently serves as an adviser to President Donald Trump and has been the de facto head of DOGE, although his time in the government is limited by his status as a special government employee.

“Yes, this is actually true,” Gracias said on May 21, responding to a question about whether DOGE has discovered illegal immigrants who were registered to vote in U.S. elections. He cited DOGE’s efforts in sampling “a handful of states” and their voter rolls and noted that those records were cross-referenced with the Department of Homeland Security’s investigatory arm.

DOGE found that there were illegal immigrants “registered to vote” and that those “people have actually voted,” Gracias said.

Those people were able to register because they were given Social Security numbers, Gracias said.

Oklahoma Schools to Teach Issue of Democratic Voter Fraud — Students Will Analyze 2020 Election Anomalies

Students in Oklahoma will soon be educated about the issue of Democratic voter fraud.

Under the direction of state School Supernintendent Ryan Walters, schools in Oklahoma must analyze the results of the 2020 presidential and the statistical anomalies that it presented.

According to one textbook, students will be asked to “identify discrepancies in 2020 elections results by looking at graphs and other information, including the sudden halting of ballot-counting in select cities in key battleground states, the security risks of mail-in balloting, sudden batch dumps, an unforeseen record number of voters, and the unprecedented contradiction of ‘bellwether county’ trends.”

Postal Service Releases Final Report – Contract Driver Jesse Morgan Vindicated – Report CONFIRMS He Hauled Trailer of Ballots from NY to PA in Late October 2020

As The Gateway Pundit reported back in 2020, election fraud whistleblowers came forward in December following the controversial election, including one who witnessed the shipping of an estimated 144,000-288,000 completed ballots across three state lines on October 21 2020.

The information was made public at a press conference by the Amistad Project of the Thomas More Society, a national constitutional litigation organization.

The Amistad Project said at the time that they had sworn declarations that over 300,000 ballots were issued in Arizona, 548,000 in Michigan, 204,000 in Georgia, and over 121,000 in Pennsylvania.

They said that their evidence reveals multi-state illegal efforts by USPS workers to influence the election in at least three of six swing states.

The whistleblower statements included potentially hundreds of thousands of completed absentee ballots being transported across three state lines and a trailer filled with ballots disappearing in Pennsylvania.

Attorney Phil Kline said, “130,000 to 280,000 completed ballots for the 2020 general election were shipped from Bethpage, NY, to Lancaster, PA, where those ballots and the trailer in which they were shipped disappeared.”

Truck driver Jesse Morgan was present at the press conference and spoke for 9 minutes about his unbelievable ordeal. Morgan was tasked with delivering completed ballots to Pennsylvania from New York State.

This was explosive testimony.

Texas Indicts 5 County Officials In Voter Fraud Investigation

Six Texas residents — five of whom are current or former local Frio County officials — were indicted on Wednesday in a voter fraud probe.

“The people of Texas deserve fair and honest elections, not backroom deals and political insiders rigging the system. Elected officials who think they can cheat to stay in power will be held accountable. No one is above the law,” Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton said in a statement.

According to a Paxton press release, the six individuals are charged with allegedly engaging in illegal ballot harvesting activity. Texas law specifies that only a voter can return his absentee ballot, with limited exceptions.

Among the charged persons is Rochelle Camacho, a Frio County judge who a grand jury indicted on three counts of ballot harvesting. In addition to two Pearsall City Council members, the indictments also included former Frio County Elections Administrator Carlos Segura, who was charged with one count of “Tampering with or Fabricating Physical Evidence,” according to Paxton’s office.

The state AG’s office noted that five of the named individuals were arrested last week, “with the exception of Rochelle Camacho, who will be processed at a later date.” Five of the six suspects have “ties to Democratic candidates,” The New York Times reported.

The charges stem from a series of search warrants executed last August by Paxton’s Criminal Investigation Division. The warrants were related to what the AG’s office characterized as “a multi-year election integrity investigation into credible allegations of vote harvesting” across Frio, Atascosa, and Bexar Counties.

What’s notable about the still-ongoing probe, however, is its encompassing of individuals tied to a prominent left-wing activist group.

Filing: Smartmatic Hid Meeting With Dem Megadonor Who Financed Its Suit Against 2020 Election Reporting

Smartmatic, the electronic tabulator company suing Fox News for alleged defamation following the 2020 election, failed in a February court hearing to disclose a meeting with Democrat megadonor Reid Hoffman, newly unsealed court documents allege.

Following the 2020 election, both Fox News and Newsmax “hosted commentators who aired concerns that tabulators were not secure, were vulnerable to voter fraud, and had possibly changed Trump votes to Biden votes,” as described in these pages by Logan Washburn. Smartmatic sued, arguing the comments amounted to defamation. Fox previously settled a suit with Dominion Voting over similar allegations while Newsmax recently settled with Smartmatic for $40 million, according to NBC.

As Washburn reported, Fox had previously expressed concerns about a “deep-pocketed ‘third party’ behind the suit” — allegations that Smartmatic denied in 2023, according to Reuters. But reporting from The Washington Post revealed Hoffman invested millions in Smartmatic, as the company sued news outlets for their reporting about the 2020 election. In July 2024, the Post reported that Hoffman had “connected with Smartmatic chief executive Antonio Mugica through friends of friends” and was “boosting” its lawsuit against Fox.

According to a newly unsealed filing, Smartmatic CEO Antonio Mugica met with “politically-motivated investors … to discuss the company’s financials and investment prospects.” That’s “a fact that Smartmatic withheld from this Court on February 5, 2025,” says the document, which was initially filed under seal with the New York State Supreme Court in April before being unsealed this week.

“After that meeting, Hoffman and [his adviser Dmitri] Mehlhorn infused Smartmatic with $25,000,000 to fund its litigation against Fox and publicly declared that Smartmatic could be a ‘$400 million’ company but for the alleged defamation,” the filing continues.

A “deposition transcript from the Newsmax case confirms that Hoffman and Smartmatic CEO Antonio Mugica had a private meeting,” according to the document. But “Smartmatic did not tell the Court at that [Feb. 5, 2025] hearing … that Antonio Mugica, Smartmatic’s CEO, had met with Hoffman and Mehlhorn via videoconference about Smartmatic’s finances, this lawsuit,” and Hoffman’s funding, it says.

The filing also alleges that Smartmatic had previously “failed to disclose to Fox that … it entered into a litigation-funding agreement with … an entity controlled by Reid Hoffman,” a fact that Fox learned “from public media reports” in July 2024, “just seven days before the then-scheduled close of fact discovery.”

In a statement to The Federalist, a Fox News representative said it’s unsurprising that Hoffman would be involved.
