DC crime eclipses Latin American capitals as Trump weighs federalizing the district

President Donald Trump’s threat to federalize Washington, D.C., should it fail to effectively deal with violent crime, comes as the city’s crime statistics show the American capital is less safe than many of the major cities of Latin America.

Washington, D.C., recorded 187 homicides in 2024 in a population of roughly 702,000. That total represents a murder rate of 26.6 per 100,000. That figure marked a 32% drop from 2023’s 274, when the rate was roughly 41 per 100,000.

Data from the Heritage Foundation shows that in 2023, D.C. had a homicide rate of 40.9 homicides per 100,000 residents and ranked fourth worst in the nation, behind only New Orleans (53.8), St. Louis (53.7), and Detroit (40.9).

“If D.C. were a state, it would have the highest homicide rate of any state in the United States,” the conservative think-tank added.

By way of comparison, the 2023 rate for Mexico City stood at about 8 per 100,000. Bogota, Colombia boasted a rate of 14 per 100,000 in 2023. Quito, Ecuador boasted a rate of 45 per 100,000, just slightly higher than D.C. in that year.

Cincinnati Mob Violence Victim Holly Slams Democrat Leaders For Being Soft on Crime, Says Her Doctors Are “Shocked” She Didn’t Die

Cincinnati mob violence victim who goes by ‘Holly,’ blasted Democrat leaders for being soft on crime during a press conference with GOP Ohio Senator Bernie Moreno on Wednesday.

Earlier this week Holly said she is suffering “very bad” brain trauma after the horrific attack by a mostly black mob at a jazz festival last weekend.

A white man was brutally beaten and stomped on by a violent gang of black suspects. When Holly ran to the victim’s aid, she was also beaten and knocked out.

Six people have been charged so far in the violent attack.

The FBI and the Justice Department’s Civil Rights division are investigating the incident.

“Our streets are being taken over and nobody is doing anything! I am so sad, and I need to be a voice for all of the victims that never got their justice,” Holly said.

Holly said the thug who attacked her should have never been on the streets.

“He had just gotten out of jail previously for something he should have been in there for years,” she said. “It’s really sad to me because I can’t even fathom how many other people who have been attacked by the same type of man over and over and over.”

“The biggest thing that I think really upsets me is the desensitization of humans where there’s a brutal attack, and they all think, ‘oh, cool. Let me get my phone and record it,’” Holly said.

“I truly hope that in the future, there’s some sort of bill to where somebody has to be prosecuted or at least fined if they don’t call 911 to save someone’s life,” she added.

Ex-DOGE staffer nicknamed ‘Big Balls’ left bloodied after savage DC carjacking attempt by 10 juveniles

A 19-year-old former Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) staffer was beaten and bloodied by a mob of 10 minors early Sunday as he thwarted a carjacking attempt in the nation’s capital, according to DC police.

Edward Coristine, whose LinkedIn handle earned him the nickname “Big Balls” at DOGE, was with a woman near downtown DC when he saw the group of juveniles approach their car and “make a comment about taking the vehicle,” according to a Metropolitan Police Department incident report obtained by The Post.

“At that point, for her safety, [Coristine] pushed his significant other … into the vehicle and turned to deal with the suspects,” the dramatic report continues.

“The suspects then began to assault [Coristine],” the ex-DOGE staffer told officers, who rolled up on the scene at the same time he was being attacked.

Officers patrolling the 1400 block of Swann Street NW — a popular area with several shops, bars and restaurants about a mile north of the White House — noticed “a group of approximately ten juveniles surrounding the complainants’ vehicle and assaulting [Coristine],” the report states.

Jasmine Crockett Joins Dems Who Fled Texas, Says Republicans Are ‘Weak’ and ‘We About to Beat You Down’

Representative Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) joined Democrats who fled her state to avoid voting on redistricting, and laughably claimed it’s Republicans who are “weak.”

Crockett also amped up the incendiary rhetoric by threatening violence in the wake of the controversy that caused her Democrat colleagues to tuck their tails and run away from the Lone Star State.

“This governor talks a lot of noise, and I made sure that I put up my warrant from four years ago,” Crockett began. “To make it plain that they talk a lot of noise, but these guys are weak.”

The wannabe leader of the Democrat party is referencing the fact that she was a major player in the same stunt Texas Democrats pulled in the state in July 2021 to prevent a vote on Republican election integrity bills. It’s a good reminder that Governor Greg Abbott had better put some teeth behind his arrest threats this time around.

“The difference is they expect Democrats to kind of be the nice guys that we are,” Crockett continued her rant. “They expect us to take the punch and say thank you. Well, I am here to tell you not only are we going to punch back, but we about to beat you down.”

Narrator: Nobody expects you to be the “nice guys,” especially when a recent study has shown the left is embracing an “assassination culture.”

Paging House Republicans – When are we going to have enough of Crockett and her street threats before we censure her for them? Are we waiting for the actual violence again, like in 2020?

This is the same woman who claims violence doesn’t come from the left side of the political aisle.

“The violence doesn’t come from Democrats, just to be clear,” she told comedian Hasan Minhaj. “I mean, obviously, anyone can be a criminal, but, um, it is MAGA. It’s specifically MAGA faction.”

Violence doesn’t come from Democrats, oh, and also … “We about to beat you down.”

Aside from Crockett’s violent language, several other prominent Democratic figures engaged in similar rhetoric. Rep. Julie Johnson (D-TX) called the matter of fleeing to avoid a vote “an all-out war” while California Governor Gavin Newsom said the resistance party was prepared to “fight fire with fire.”

Considering their party’s rhetoric has led to multiple assassination attempts on the President, it should be taken seriously. That said, listening to them shout in defense of their colleagues who are currently hiding and dispersed throughout the country so they can avoid doing their jobs is utterly hilarious.

This is like running three blocks away from a street fight and then yelling back to your opponent, “I’m gonna kick your a**,” all while shaking a fist in the air.

Forced Hospitalization Increases Suicide and Violent Crime

States are rolling out more and more aggressive forced treatment policies, ever widening the range of people who can be targeted for involuntary hospitalization. Yet a new study shows that this system is actually increasing the very problems it is meant to alleviate: Forced hospitalization substantially increases the risk of death by suicide, death by overdose, and violent crime—nearly doubling these effects.

“This result is surprising,” the researchers write in an accompanying FAQ. “Involuntary hospitalizations are a public safety measure, and the finding that they are driving more of the outcomes they seek to prevent in the judgement call subpopulation we study has important policy implications. The significance is especially pronounced since many locations across the country are seeking to scale up involuntary hospitalizations.”

Although the layperson may think that involuntary hospitalization is rare, the researchers note that it is “a widespread practice,” with 1.2 million people forcibly hospitalized each year. That makes it more than twice as common as death from cancer, they write. And this practice is growing more common every year, with many states implementing policies to expand forced treatment.

It has been difficult for researchers to study whether involuntary hospitalization is actually helpful or not. Research consistently shows that those who get hospitalized are at greater risk of suicide and other negative outcomes after hospitalization. However, this is confounded by the fact that, supposedly, those who get hospitalized are those who are already at a much higher risk of these outcomes.

The current study aimed to get around this limitation. They used quasi-random assignment (a way of mapping real-world outcomes that simulates a randomized trial) and focused solely on the cases that were considered “judgment calls”—cases in which one clinician might hospitalize, while another might not—to remove that confounding factor. Thus, the current study is probably as close as we will ever get to having a true randomized, controlled trial to answer this question.

Of course, this also means that their study results only apply to those “judgment call” cases—but the researchers estimate that they add up to 43% of all involuntarily hospitalized patients.

Ultimately, although they can’t say that all involuntary hospitalization is detrimental, they are able to say that it is detrimental on average for nearly half of those who experience it—and thus, in “judgment call” cases, clinicians should err on the side of not forcibly imprisoning their patients.

And the policy implication is that involuntary hospitalization should be drastically reduced, not rolled out as a policy to capture more and more people.

“Does involuntary hospitalization achieve its goals?” the researchers ask. “Our results suggest that, on the margin, the system we study is not achieving the intended effects of the policy.”

The study was conducted by Natalia Emanuel at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, Pim Welle at the Allegheny County Department of Human Services, and Valentin Bolotnyy at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University. It was published sans peer review in the Federal Reserve Bank of New York Staff Reports.

Muslim Migrants Found NOT GUILTY of Attempted “Honor Killing” Despite Being Caught on Tape Violently Assaulting Daughter Allegedly For Not Wanting to Marry Older Muslim Man

A stunning verdict was reached earlier this week in the case of two Muslim immigrants living in Washington State who stood accused of one of the most unimaginable crimes.

As Fox 13 reported, both the mother and father were found not guilty on Thursday of attempting an “honor killing” of their 17-year-old daughter. Back in October, they were accused of trying to murder their daughter after she refused to go to their native Iraq and marry an older man.

A jury in Lacey, Washington found 44-year-old Ihsan Ali, the victim’s dad, not guilty of second-degree attempted murder and first-degree assault. Instead, they found him guilty of second-degree and fourth-degree assault and unlawful imprisonment.

The victim’s mom, 40-year-old Zahraa Ali, was found guilty of violating a protective order but acquitted of second-degree attempted murder, second-degree assault, and second-degree burglary.

Multi-agency effort thwarts mass attack near San Antonio’s Camp Bullis

A man was arrested for allegedly threatening mass violence on individuals based on race, religion and government affiliation, according to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office.

Nathan Henderson, 39, was arrested on July 11 after deputies executed a search warrant at his home on Orcle Drive near Camp Bullis and found illegal explosive components, according to a news release from BCSO on Thursday, July 31. Officials said deputies received a credible tip about Henderson making concerning statements regarding mass violence and having a homemade detonator.

After searching the home, deputies found multiple firearms and ammunition, chemical components commonly used to create improvised explosive devices, notebooks containing extremist ideology and vague plans to disrupt public venues, a total of 24 grenades with corresponding striker mechanisms, a homemade igniter with remote detonation capability and nearly 100 metal cylinders believed to be intended for manufacturing blasting cups, accordion to BCSO.

Fourth Person Busted in Cincinnati Beatings of Two White Individuals as New Footage Shows a Racial Slur Being Yelled During Brawl

A fourth individual has been arrested in connection with the savage beating of two white individuals in downtown Cincinnati by an angry mob, as footage has emerged showing a racial slur being yelled during the beating.

WKRC reported on Friday that Cincy police have arrested 37-year-old Dominique Kittle and hit him with charges of felonious assault and riot.

According to the outlet, the arrest happened hours after city and county leaders held a press conference Friday afternoon.

The Gateway Pundit’s Kristinn Taylor previously reported 34-year-old Montianez Merriweather, 24-year-old Dekyra Vernon, and 39-year-old Jermaine Matthews </> were previously arrested and are in police custody.

Meanwhile, footage has emerged showing someone screaming the N-word as the violent fight started. But as Fox News notes, it is not clear whether one of the white victims uttered it or one of their black tormentors.

It is more difficult to determine who uttered the slur because Fox News edited it out.

Cincinnati’s Dem Mayor Hasn’t Spoken to Victims in Attack: ‘We Have Significant Other Public Safety Challenges’

Cincinnati’s Democrat Mayor Aftab Pureval said during a press conference Friday that he has not spoken to the victims of the recent, violent attack in the city.

When asked about this by a member of the press, Pureval said, “We have significant other public safety challenges.”

This is an aspect of leadership that Democrats just don’t seem to understand. Trump certainly does. You know that if Trump ran this city, he would have personally reached out to these people.

Pureval was also criticized for being missing in action in the days following the attack.

FOX News reported:

Cincinnati Mayor Aftab Pureval has been missing in action for days after a brutal beatdown that went viral on social media left many people injured, raising questions about the city’s leadership and priorities.

Pureval has been on a long-planned family vacation in Vancouver, Canada, The Enquirer reported.

A video lit up social media over the weekend that showed a mob of people violently attacking one man, as well as a woman who tried to help him, during the early morning hours on Saturday.

Pureval, a Democrat, reportedly told the news outlet he found out about the incident the same day, though he decided to still take his family on a family vacation.

His reasoning for the vacation was that his 5-year-old son would be starting kindergarten and city council sessions resume next week after a monthlong recess, and it would be the last opportunity to go on a family vacation.

Democrats will claim this criticism is unfair, but they have attacked Republican Senator Ted Cruz for being out of state when Texas had a power outage and during the recent floods, when Cruz did return from a family vacation in Greece.
