Norwegian tourist, 21, is barred from entering the US after ICE guards find meme showing JD Vance with a bald head on his phone

A Norwegian tourist claims he was harassed and refused entry to the US after immigration officers found a meme of JD Vance on his phone.

Mads Mikkelsen, 21, arrived at New Jersey‘s Newark Airport on June 11, excited about his holiday.

But, his plans were thrown into disarray when he was reportedly pulled aside by border control and put in a cell.

The tourist was then subjected to what he described to Norwegian outlet Nordlys as an ‘abuse, of power and harassment’.

‘They asked questions about drug trafficking, terrorist plots and right-wing extremism totally without reason,’ he told the outlet.

Mr Mikkelsen, claimed the officers then threatened him with a $5,000 fine or five years in prison if he refused to give the password to his mobile phone.

The guards reportedly found a meme on the device’s camera roll showing US vice president JD Vance with a bald, egg-shaped head.

Mikkelsen said after discovering the image the authorities sent him home to Norway the same day.

J.D. Vance Was Right About Censorship

In February 2025, U.S. Vice President, JD Vance stood before the Munich Security Conference and delivered a stark warning. Europe’s greatest threat was not external aggression, but internal decay — specifically, the erosion of free speech.

At the time, his words were met with scorn from European elites, dismissed as populist provocation — even “misinformation”. Yet, just months later, the cultural tide is turning. The May 2025 edition of the Economist is entirely devoted to exposing Europe’s censorship crisis, with the cover piece subtitled “J.D. Vance was right”. Key members of the UK’s previous Conservative government, responsible for implementing various censorship laws in Britain, have now found a voice to call for free speech. In a few short months, the zeitgeist has shifted: we now see that Vance’s critique was not only timely, but prescient.

Vance highlighted the case of Adam Smith-Connor, a British army veteran convicted for the “crime” of silently praying near an abortion facility in Bournemouth. Smith-Connor stood alone, for 3 minutes, across a road from the facility in a green public space — prayerfully remembering a child he had lost through abortion. He obstructed no one, spoke to no one, yet was prosecuted under a “buffer zone” law designed to prevent harassment, abuse, and “expressions of approval or disapproval” of abortion within the large public area. He was sentenced to a conditional discharge and ordered to pay £9,000 in prosecution costs.

This case is not isolated. Livia Tossici-Bolt, also from Bournemouth, was convicted for offering consensual conversations near an abortion facility. Her “crime”? Holding a sign reading “here to talk, if you want” in the area. Inviting consensual conversation. She was ordered to pay £20,000 in prosecution costs.

Similar cases have arisen in Birmingham and in Scotland, where citizens have been prosecuted just for holding a certain point of view on abortion near a clinic or hospital, and either praying, or simply being willing to talk if someone wants to engage with them.

Vance’s speech, derided by European elites at the time, resonates with a public that is increasingly frustrated with their taxes going towards silencing themselves.

JD Vance Warns EU Censorship and Fines Threaten US Free Speech and First Amendment Values

Vice President JD Vance sounded the alarm this week over the growing international push to restrict speech, warning that aggressive censorship trends in Europe could soon clash with American constitutional principles.

Speaking with Glenn Beck, Vance stressed that transatlantic influence runs deep, and the speech policies being advanced in Europe aren’t confined to their borders.

“The kind of social media censorship that we’ve seen in Western Europe, it will and in some ways, it already has made its way to the United States. That was the story of the Biden administration silencing people on social media,” Vance said.

He argued that the US must take a firm stance in defense of First Amendment ideals and not allow foreign pressures to shape domestic policies, particularly in the digital space. “So we’re going to be very protective of American interests when it comes to things like social media regulation. We want to promote free speech. We don’t want our European friends telling social media companies that they have to silence Christians or silence conservatives, and I think there is going to be that friction over the next ten years.”

While emphasizing that diplomatic ties remain intact, Vance acknowledged that serious ideological divisions are emerging. “It’s not that we are not friends, but there’re gonna have some disagreements you didn’t see 10 years ago.”

Vance’s concerns were prompted by a question from Beck regarding troubling developments in countries like Canada and within the EU. The digital censorship framework in Europe has gone well beyond theory, with major tech companies already feeling the brunt of regulatory threats. Firms like X, Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok have faced mounting pressure to fall in line with EU speech codes or suffer severe financial consequences.

The EU has been leveraging the weight of its Digital Services Act (DSA) to pressure American tech companies into stricter content moderation, effectively threatening massive financial penalties if platforms fail to comply with the bloc’s speech regulations.

Speaking to leftist newspaper “Die Zeit“, Merz criticized Vice-President JD Vance’s courageous pro-freedom speech at the Munich Security Conference and recent posts from Vance and SecState Marco Rubio accusing Germany of “tyranny in disguise” for using the secret political police against the largest opposition party, the AfD.

“Of course, we are not heading toward “tyranny,” as we hear from the USA”, Merz said. “Such statements must be firmly rejected. Germany was liberated from tyranny by the USA, and today Germany is stable, liberal, and democratic. We don’t need any lessons in democracy (from the USA). That’s why JD Vance’s speech at the Munich Security Conference was perceived by many, including myself, as interference.”

On May 9, the parting Interior Minister Nancy Faeser (Social Democrats) had used a trumped-up “dossier” containing no evidence of illegal activity to slander the lagrest opposition party in Germany, the Alternative for Germany (AfD) as “confirmed far-right”, leading the push to ban the party, fire its members from governent jobs and deny it basic parliamentary rights.

10 million Germans voted for the AfD in February. Under pressure from an AfD lawsuit and US Senate Intelligence Committee chair Sen. Tom Cotton, the German secret police had to retract the label and remove the press release from its website.

On the same day Merz claimed not to need “any lessons in democracy” from the Trump administration, 6 right-wing activists belonging to the Generation Identity movement were apprehended by German police at Munich airport and taken into custody to prevent them from traveling to a “Remigration Summit” in Milano, Italy taking place on Saturday. Two of the activists were even taken off a plane they had already boarded, indicating the orders came urgently at the request of the “Conservative” Christian Democrat government in the State of Bavaria.

As VP Vance Says the Russia-Ukraine War ‘Is Not Going to End Any Time Soon’, State Department Spokeswoman Warns US ‘Not Going To Mediate Peace Talks Anymore’

The war in the Ukraine is in its third year. While a lot of progress in peace talks was made in the last 100 days under the auspices of the Donald J. Trump US administration, we’ve apparently come to the point where the initiative must now be seized by the Russian and Ukrainian warring parties.

For weeks now, we have been hearing from Trump and his top cabinet members that, because of the lack of tangible progress by the two sides in the peace process, the US may be about to leave the position of a mediator in the negotiations.

It seems that this day has arrived.

First, Marco Rubio told Fox News that progress between Russia and Ukraine was ‘not fast enough.

Then, VP JD Vance told the same Fox News that the Ukraine war is ‘not going to end any time soon’, in a rare admission of the difficulties that the peace process is facing.

Sky News reported:

“Russia and Ukraine are getting closer to a peace deal but not fast enough, the US’s top diplomat has said.

Marco Rubio repeated that Washington was ready to step aside and stop pursuing peace should a deal not materialize – a threat he’s made several times in the past week.

‘I think we know where Ukraine is, and we know where Russia is right now… they’re closer, but they’re still far apart’, he said during an interview on Fox News.

But vice president JD Vance told the same network that he didn’t see a quick end to the conflict.

‘It’s not going anywhere… it’s not going to end any time soon’, Vance said.”

The meeting followed an initial rebuff on April 19, when Vance met with Vatican officials instead of Francis, which some interpreted as a snub due to their disagreements, especially on immigration.

Hours after that historic meeting, the world learned that Pope Francis had passed away at the age of 88.

Pope Francis has died aged 88. He had been battling severe illness including a double pneumonia for weeks, which obviously took a massive toll on his health. Yet somehow twisted leftists are blaming Vice President JD Vance.

Vance visited with the Pope on Easter Sunday, just hours before his death.

He thanked the Pope for seeing him and told him “I know you have not been feeling great, but it’s good to see you in better health.”

Francis had been in hospital for over a month and given that he was now out and conducting meetings and giving speeches, it seemed he might be on the mend, but it was not to be.

Susan Meyers, the commander of the 821st Space Base Group who also oversees the Pentagon’s northernmost military base, sent a March 31 message to all personnel at Pituffik seemingly aimed at generating unity among the airmen and Guardians, as well as the Canadians, Danes and Greenlanders who work there, following Vance’s appearance. She wrote that she “spent the weekend thinking about Friday’s visit — the actions taken, the words spoken, and how it must have affected each of you,” reported Military.com

“I do not presume to understand current politics, but what I do know is the concerns of the U.S. administration discussed by Vice President Vance on Friday are not reflective of Pituffik Space Base,” Meyers wrote in the email, which was communicated to Military.com.

Greenland status quo ‘not an option,’ Danish minister says after Vance visit

Denmark is open to discussions with the U.S. on how to “fix” the status quo in Greenland, the country’s foreign minister said, after Vice President JD Vance accused Copenhagen of failing to adequately protect the Arctic island during a controversial visit on Friday.

In a post to X addressed to Denmark’s “dear American friends” late Friday, Danish Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen said his nation agrees that the “status quo” in the Arctic “is not an option.”

“So let’s talk about how we can fix it — together,” Rasmussen wrote.

In a video statement, Rasmussen acknowledged the “many accusations and many allegations” about Greenland. “Of course, we are open to criticism, but let me be completely honest — we do not appreciate the tone in which it’s being delivered.”

“This is not how you speak to your close allies,” Rasmussen continued, “and I still consider Denmark and the United States to be close allies.”

Danish and Greenlandic leaders have pushed back on Trump’s desire to gain control of Greenland. They have simultaneously criticized his perceived overreach while seeking to ease tensions by proposing deeper military and economic cooperation on the Arctic landmass.

“We respect that the United States needs a greater military presence in Greenland, as Vice President Vance mentioned this evening. We — Denmark and Greenland — are very much open to discussing this with you,” Rasmussen said in his statement.

The existing bilateral defense agreement — signed in 1951 — “offers ample opportunity for the United States to have a much stronger military presence in Greenland,” Rasmussen said. “If that is what you wish, then let us discuss it.”

Payback: J.D. Vance calmly gives Denmark a real reason to be paranoid since they’re asking for it

Former U.S. diplomat Stephen Helgesen, who now lives in Denmark, has an interesting post today describing public sentiment in Denmark, which is almost universally, and quite hatefully, opposed to President Trump. He writes that it’s little different in Greenland, having access to their presses from his perch in Denmark as well.

For Americans, it’s become obvious enough from second lady Usha Vance’s planned visit to Greenland, which was greeted with an amazing amount of rage and paranoia from the Danes, some of the Greenlanders, and anti-American eurotrash all over the rest of Europe.

Helgesen writes:

… the Danish and Greenlandic press were quick to point out that they saw the arrival of two Hercules air transport planes show up at their civilian airport a few days ago as a bridge too far. To mix metaphors, America had crossed the Rubicon. The optics were, admittedly, bad for America. It looked like an invasion, albeit a benign one with armored vehicles and a few dozen security personnel. The Danes ended up sending a hundred or so Danish police from mainland Denmark seemingly as a countermeasure.

All this, to view an annual dogsled race on a remote iceblock island with a population of 59,000.

Now, one could argue that the incidental security sent might have seemed overdone to the Danes and Greenlanders, given that the locals are not used to this kind of attention, and might not even need major security.

Yet it was an overreaction, all the same. The security was likely standard operating procedure for the U.S. in this age of multiple assassination attempts on President Trump and the Secret Service can’t be too careful.

So instead of just dismissing it as Americans in action and going about their business, the Danes and their coevals decided to go bonkers, reading the big entourage from a major public figure from a major nation as an invasion force.

They howled. They organized protests. And they treated Mrs. Vance, who only wanted to make friends with them in a public diplomacy mission, as well as learn about their culture, as a menace to their existence.
