Report: Ilhan Omar ‘in Collection Proceedings’ for Her Student Loans, Is Seeking to ‘Bully’ Her Way Out of Payments

For most Americans, a U.S. lawmaker with onerous student loan debt pushing for debt forgiveness would be viewed as a conflict of interest.

For at least one U.S. representative, it’s apparently a non-issue — and the American Accountability Foundation is livid about it.

According to the Daily Wire, Democratic Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar has been accused by the watchdog group over a number of issues.

In a scathing letter sent to House Speaker Mike Johnson, American Accountability Foundation President Thomas Jones outed Omar’s dubious finances — and “bully” reputation.

“We are writing today to share serious concerns about abuse of office and abuse of government loans by a member of the House of Representatives, Representative Ilhan Omar,” Jones said.

According to Jones, Omar is actually in collection proceedings on her federally guaranteed student loans.

Citing her financial disclosures, Jones called out the fact that Omar “currently has between $15,001 and $50,000 in outstanding loans.”

Jones noted, “As you know, these loans are guaranteed by the United States Government and Representative Omar’s default would shift the cost of her student loans onto the U.S. taxpayer.”

“The fact that someone making $174,000 as a Member of Congress cannot pay their student loans is unconscionable and embarrassing.”

Jones wasn’t done, however, as he had more issues with Omar than just the poor stewardship of her money.

“Adding insult to injury, there are credible claims that she is using her influence as a Member of Congress to bully the Department of Education into not collecting the past-due payments,” Jones wrote. “We have promulgated a Freedom of Information Act request for correspondence from Representative Omar to fully understand the scale of her abuse of office.”

To ensure that the Treasury Department will not be on the hook for Omar’s defaulted student loans, Jones demanded a drastic move from Mike Johnson.

“We are calling upon you to instruct the Chief Administrative Officer of the House of Representatives to impound Representative Omar’s Congressional salary and pay it out to Nelnet, the servicer of her federal student loan, until such time as her payments are current.”

Social media naturally had a field day with this news, especially those who are fed up with Omar’s far-left rhetoric.

But the discourse over Omar’s finances did not originate with this inquiry.

Ilhan Omar DONOR Pleads Guilty to Attempting to Join ISIS

A Minnesota man who pleaded guilty this week to attempting to join ISIS not only praised terrorist attacks and twice tried to travel overseas to fight for the group—he also donated to Rep. Ilhan Omar’s political campaign, my investigation has confirmed. 

The revelation ties a convicted supporter of one of the world’s most violent terror organizations directly to the fundraising network of a sitting member of Congress.

On October 1, 2025, federal prosecutors announced that Abdisatar Ahmed Hassan, 23, of Minnesota, pleaded guilty to one count of attempting to provide material support and resources to ISIS, a designated foreign terrorist organization. 

Hassan had long promoted jihad online, calling for the overthrow of the Somali government and the establishment of an Islamic caliphate. 

According to court filings, his social media accounts contained ISIS propaganda, black ISIS flag logos, and praise for mass-casualty attacks, including the January 1, 2025, New Orleans attack that killed 14 people. 

Hassan referred to the killer as “the legend that killed Americans.”

Federal agents documented that in December 2024, Hassan made two separate attempts to travel one-way from Minnesota to Somalia to join ISIS fighters. 

On his first attempt, he was denied boarding due to a lack of travel documents. 

After acquiring a visa, he attempted to travel again but was intercepted by Customs and Border Protection in Chicago. 

Agents found his naturalization papers, diploma, and electronic devices loaded with ISIS propaganda, recruitment messages, and PDF manuals on building explosives, including C-4, urea nitrate, and HMTD.

The FBI further recovered messages where Hassan referred to an ISIS recruiter as “uncle” and “commander” and declared, “I will become ISIS straight away.” 

In one video posted online, he waved a homemade ISIS flag while driving in Minnesota; in another, he displayed a knife on his lap.

But while her political career has grabbed headlines, the story of her husband, Tim Mynett, deserves far more attention.

According to his own biography, he has built relationships in some of the most “innovative political campaigns” of the past decade and claims to have brought “substantial change to the corridors of power.” 

In other words, Mynett has leveraged his political connections to accumulate influence and wealth. 

Conveniently, his most crucial tie happens to be his wife, one of the most polarizing lawmakers in America.

Meanwhile, Omar’s reported net worth has exploded.

On Wednesday, Rep. Nancy Mace’s (R-S.C.) effort to censure radical Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) for her vile celebration of the political assassination of Charlie Kirk was derailed, not by Democrats alone, but by four spineless Republicans who chose to stand with the Left.

Rep. Mace had announced earlier this week that she would move forward with a resolution to strip Omar of her committee assignments.

During an interview with former MSNBC propagandist and Zeteo founder Mehdi Hasan, Omar mocked Kirk, saying he got precisely what he deserved for simply expressing politically incorrect views. She also accused others of lying for saying Kirk wanted civil discourse.

OMAR: I do know for sure is that Charlie was someone who once said, “Guns save lives” after a school shooting. Charlie was someone who was willing to debate and downplay George Floyd’s death at the hands of the Minneapolis police.

HASAN: He (Kirk) called him (Floyd) a scumbag.

OMAR: Right. (He) downplayed slavery and what black people have gone through in this country by saying Juneteenth should never exist. Um, and I think there are a lot of people out there saying he just wanted to have a civil debate.

HASAN (chuckling): A complete rewriting of history.

OMAR: Right. There’s nothing more f’ed up than to completely pretend his words and actions have not been recorded (giggling) and in existence for the last decade or so.

Rep. Mace announced on X late Monday that she was filing a House resolution to strip the Somalia-born socialist of every single one of her committee assignments.

“Ilhan Omar should be censured and stripped of every committee seat. Mocking an assassination and glorifying political violence has no place in Congress. We’ll be leading floor debate tonight at 6:15.”

Rep. Ilhan Omar Suggests Trump’s America is Worse Than Somalia: ‘I Don’t Remember Ever Witnessing Anything Like That’ – Omar Fled Somalia in a Plane When Their Compound Was Attacked by 20 Men

Far-left Rep. Ilhan Omar has insisted that her home country of Somalia were not as bad America is under President Trump.

The Minnesota Congresswoman made the comments during an appearance this weekend on the YouTube channel Democracy Now!, where she complained about the Trump administration’s policy of mass deportations and restoring law and order to cities like Washington D.C. and Chicago.

She explained:

Armed men who are in plainclothes that are snatching people off the streets, unwilling to identify themselves. You have the military being deployed in our streets. My God, this is America. You have states’ rights being disregarded. You know, the constitutional crisis that’s being created in front of our eyes.

And the same week where we have a president who has deployed the military, who are trained to kill our enemies, not Americans, but our enemies, are in our streets. It’s the same week that we are going to have a military parade. Can you imagine that image that is going to be coming out of our country?

I mean, I grew up in a dictatorship. And I don’t even remember ever witnessing anything like that. To have a democracy, a beacon of hope for the world, to now be turned into one of the worst countries where the military are in our streets without any regard for people’s constitutional rights.

While our president is spending millions of dollars prompting himself up like a failed dictator with a military parade. It is really shocking and it should be a wake-up call for all Americans to say this is not the country we were born in, this is not the country we believe in, this is not the country our founding fathers imagined, and this is not the country that is supported by our constitution, our ideals, our values.

We should all collectively be out in the streets rejecting what is taking place this week.

Ilhan Omar, Mehdi Hasan lie about Charlie Kirk’s message favoring ‘civil debate,’ call it ‘rewriting of history’

Left-wing pundit Mehdi Hasan spoke to Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) on his podcast, with the two saying that it is a “rewriting of history” to say that Charlie Kirk’s legacy focused on having a “civil debate.” Kirk was literally assassinated as he was debating college students at Utah Valley University.

The two were speaking on a podcast when Omar said, “Charlie was someone who was willing to debate and downplay the death of George Floyd in the hands of Minneapolis Police.”

Hasan interjected, “I think you called him a scumbag,” to which Omar agreed.

“Right, have no regard. Downplay slavery and what black people have gone through in this country by saying Juneteenth should never exist. And I think you know that there are a lot of people who are out there talking about him just wanting to have a civil debate,” Omar added.

Hasan again interjected, and said that the way Kirk was being remembered, for encouraging civil debate, was a “complete rewriting of history.”

Omar agreed and said that it was “effed up” to “completely pretend that you know his words and actions have not been recorded, and in existence for the last decade.”

Company Owned by Ilhan Omar’s Multimillionaire Husband Owes IRS Over $200,000 in Unpaid Taxes

A company owned by Tim Mynett, the multimillionaire husband of Rep. Ilhan Omar (D., Minn.), failed to pay its fair share of taxes in 2021, according to a tax lien obtained by the Washington Free Beacon.

Mynett’s company, EStreetCo, accumulated nearly $206,000 in unpaid income, Social Security, and Medicare taxes in 2021, the IRS charged in a tax lien filed against the company in Sonoma County, Calif., in January 2023. Omar, who introduced legislation in February to “make corporations pay their fair share,” was married to Mynett when the IRS says the company failed to pay its taxes.

In her 2021 financial disclosure, the Minnesota Democrat described EStreetCo as a “creative agency” and said Mynett’s share of the company was worth no more than $1,000.

EStreetCo provided advertising, design, and public relations services, and boasted a staff of at least 17 people, according to an archived version of its website. Mynett’s business partner, former DNC adviser Will Hailer, formed EStreetCo in October 2020, and business records show the pair owned the firm until its dissolution in June 2022, about seven months before the IRS filed the lien.

“I’m So F**king Sick Of Watching Politicians Get Rich While They’re In Office…”

Ilhan Omar: Preaching Socialism, Practicing Capitalism 

I am so f**kng sick of watching politicians on both sides of the aisle get rich while they’re in office. But when politicians rail against millionaires and billionaires while quietly joining their ranks, it’s even worse, because it’s hypocrisy dressed up as virtue.

Few examples are as glaring as Rep. Ilhan Omar’s latest financial disclosure.

Just months ago, Omar dismissed rumors about her personal wealth as “ridiculous” and “categorically false,” insisting she was just a working mom with student loan debt.

Now, according to filings reported by the New York Post and Washington Free Beacon, Omar and her husband, Tim Mynett, are sitting on a net worth of up to $30 million. That’s a 3,500% jump in a single year.

Either her financial situation changed at the speed of light, or her earlier denials weren’t worth much. And the hypocrisy runs even deeper when it comes to those who spend their careers railing against capitalism, wealth, and inequality. Which is to say nothing of Omar’s critiques of the U.S., calling it “one of the worst countries” in a recent interview.

Her net worth didn’t come from thriftiness on a congressional salary. It came from her husband’s businesses: a California winery and a Washington, D.C.–based venture capital firm, Rose Lake Capital.

The winery was valued at a measly $15,000 to $50,000 last year but is now worth up to $5 million. Normal.

Rose Lake Capital went from essentially worthless to being valued between $5 million and $25 million, while the company boasts of managing a staggering $60 billion in assets.

Not bad for a family that supposedly embodies the struggles of everyday Americans.

And lets just say Omar’s net worth surge was legitimate for a second. She married into wealth — or her husband is just a resounding success — that’s not what bothers me.

What bothers me the most is that Omar has built her career thundering against the wealthy and declaring capitalism a system rigged against the little guy. She lectures about inequality, demonizes people who accumulate fortunes, and paints millionaires as morally compromised. Yet here she is, supposedly reaping the rewards of venture capital and luxury wine—two industries not exactly known for their devotion to socialist ideals.
